This review is for shoprite from home @ the Shelton location. I hate wasting time grocery shopping so a while back I started using peapod. After being disappointed multiple times for different reasons I tried the pick up service at stop and shop which also sucked. So I back to doing my own grocery shopping… until recently when a friend had good things to say about the shoprite from home. I gave it try and wow! They were awesome. I’ve now shopped this way the past 4 weeks and they continue to impress me. It’s the total opposite of s&s. They have special parking space for people picking up groceries, they have everything bagged in paper and plastic. All your perishable items are in fridge/freezer until u arrive to pick up. If you order a rotisserie chicken they run and get it as soon as you arrive so it’s fresh and hot! The customer service is outstanding! They called me to let me know they were out of vanilla bean ice cream and asked if I minded if they gave me vanilla instead. They also asked if there was anything else I forgot and needed to add to my order! If you have ever used s&s for this service u will understand why I’m so happy with shoprite? Thank you Shoprite for giving me a few extra hours a week to do something I enjoy rather than grocery shop! 5 star customer service also!

A week ago I went into the ShopRite of Shelton and it was outright disgusting. The floors were extremely dirty and there were a bunch of unpleasant odors throughout the store. There were some nasty pigeons flying everywhere and I even saw bird feces over some boxed products and canned goods. I was very displeased with the fact that the produce was not even fresh and some of their yogurts and gallons of milk were expired way past their dates. Also the staff was very rude after I asked where an item was located so I walked out of that store as fast as I could. The associates in there seem like they wish customers would never ask them questions, let alone even speaking to them. I’d rather buy my groceries at Walmart than shop at a despicable place like this with such ungrateful employees.

I’ve tried many different grocery stores(in many various surrounding towns) & w/that in mind, I find that this location has the BEST selection, service, very clean, & good prices. Other Shoprite locations, fall short on this list. Staff is always very helpful & courteous. For a chain store. I’m a fan.

They’ve definitely improved the place since it was bought out and changed over to a Shop-Rite, but overall the vibe remains the same: more big-box than local grocery store. Prices are fine, but no self checkout and a staff that ranges from moderately friendly to actively pretending you don’t exist. Items are not reliably restocked in specialty areas, so you never know what will be there and what you may have to come back for.

I was actually quite pleasantly surprised with this store. I never stopped before thinking it was low end but ended up having a lovely experience here. Their organic, healthy section is quite extensive and the Manager went out of his way to help me find items suitable for this new protein diet I have started. He was really wonderful! It was delightful overall!

The store is always clean. The sales are great and so are there coupons. The staff is so helpful and always smiling. Check out is always pretty smooth and my kids are big fans of the lollipops the cashiers always offer.

Let’s break this down the easy way. The prices are usually comparable to, if not better than, Stop & Shop on most items. The store is pretty big, and they sell some products that aren’t available in Derby. But! You would not get me to shop here unless I have no other choice. Why? Because there are always BIRDS flying around the store. I don’t know what doors they are leaving open for birds to get it, because I’ve never seen them come through the entrance/exit, but it’s been a problem since they opened. Maybe it’s just me, but I do not want to buy food from a store that has birds freely flying around.
