Panache is great! Very professional and a nice atmosphere. Kathy has been doing my hair for years. I would not go to anyone else. She does such a great job that I go back only twice a year for a cut, she is that good. And the price is very reasonable. Highly, highly recommend her and the salon as a whole.

As a guy, I’m generally averse to paying anything over $ 30 for a cut. I figure I usually only need a trim on the sides and the top and that any competent barber can do the job.
Panache hands out coupons to Yale students in an effort to increase traffic and I unfortunately took the bait, not once… but twice. Give me a bad haircut once, shame on you. Give me a bad haircut twice, shame on me.
The stylists are usually older and have a hard time keeping up with contemporary styles. And they don’t seem too dextrous with a comb and clippers, either. The last time I went there (two years ago, thankfully), I told my hairdresser that I like to «flip my hair up in the front, like a faux-​hawk.» To which she replied, «What’s a faux-​hawk?!» She had never heard the term before. Two of my friends have subsequently gone there and come back saying the same thing: «I’m never going back there.»
I now go to Chameleon and pay significantly more money. As I said before, I don’t think it’s necessary to pay more than $ 30 for a men’s cut… but it sure beats the hack jobs you get at Phil’s or Panache.

This is where I go to get my hair cut. As it is, I’ve worked in or around this area of Shelton for the past 4+ years that I’ve been in CT, so it’s more convenient for me than anything. However, Amy always does a good job and I enjoy stopping in and shooting the shit with her while I get trimmed up.
It’s true that the workers there are very chatty, but I don’t really have a problem with talking about customers behind their backs because, well, I worked in the restaurant/​bar industry for 11 years. You gotta do what you gotta do to keep yourself entertained when you work in industries that depend on tips.

These people really know hair coloring — they excel at it. The haircuts that I have gotten here are also amazing and last for quite a while. They charge a little more but the results are definitely worth it.
The reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is the attitudes of the hairdressers. I have had 3 separate women do my hair at different times and boy are they snotty to other women, they also tend to talk about other patrons right after they leave — not cool.
