Atmosphere is nice and easy going. Very vibrant and bright. Initial dipping sauces are tasty. I’m so hungry this will inevitably be slightly biased but the mole burrito was off the charts. Try the bbq anything. That took me by surprise.

Best Mexican food in Sebastopol, for sure, and probably Sonoma County. Get the chicken mole plate with flour tortillas, you’ll thank me later.

Fantastic al pastor! Great service! This is a family owned business. My wife and I have been coming here for years. Even though we live in Santa Rosa, we drive to Sebastopol to get our Mexican food here. In fact, they will be catering my son and future daughter in laws rehearsal dinner this June.

Nothing special. Everyone thought it was good. It was good. But not special. I would look somewhere else if I was craving Mexican food in Sebastopol

Best Mexican Food in Sonoma County. Fresh steak, and good chicken breast. Very time I am in town I cannot resist to come here. They have never let me down, they have excellent culinary cuisine. Thank you and keep it up!

This place is my favorite Mexican eatery in Sonoma County. Why is that? Well because they have fine cuisine. For example, their chicken and steak are cooker to perfection, tender and seasoned with professional chef style taste. Bottom line: If you like white meat chicken breast and lean steak seasoned with professional ingredients go here. It’s truly Mexican culinary arts. if you like chicken fat dark meat and fatty steak only seasoned in salt don’t come here.

Mexican food like my Mom makes. Good service. Friendly staff. Three people ate for less than $ 50.

I’m not to sure how a Mexican restaurant can screw up Nachos, tamales or even tacos, but they do! And they do it continuously. I have come her about 5 times now on different occasions. Each time, I think why did I come hear. The whole place is staffed and run by Mexicans so I would imagine the food would be more authentic and tasty, instead I find it bland. The meats often are hard to identify in terms of texture and taste. The last two times I have felt sick shortly afterwards. If you’re looking for a quick bite try Ochoes or El favorito. Every one else in SEB is kinda crap.

Unfortunately bad reviews on here have made this restaurant a much lower star rating than it deserves. The food is very good, flavorful, and fresh. Take out was very fast and spot on and most importantly, hot. Had we dined in, the staff were friendly and the restaurant was impeccably clean. Don’t let bad reviews sway your decision to try their food, it is excellent.

I’ve had a few fumbles with El Coronel over the years — gave it a good 18 months away to try it again — and, unfortunately, nothing’s changed. Nothing. There’s always been a really strange feeling about this restaurant — I’m not sure if it’s just the overall disinterested, laaaaazy«hillbilly» effect Sebastopol seems to consistently steep its citizens in or it’s actually how the owner comes off as if business will always be plentiful and service can just be as mediocre as he intends… Probably both. And today was my last meal @ this place. I walked in the door @ exactly 429 pm and asked if the patio was open for seating. «Yes,» the woman said. «Go on out and I’ll bring you a menu.» I proceeded to the patio and sat down. The next time I was acknowledged was 506 pm. Yep. Fish stinks from the head down.

The food looked good but tasted meh, the salad was bad, there was some pieces of metal in the burrito, the burrito sauce tasted weird as if it went bad. Will not come back here again.

I ordered the taco salad and it was completely tasteless, which is odd because it *looked* delicious. The tortilla shell was cold and kind of stale, like it had been sitting out for a few days. The rice was bland and room temperature and the lettuce was OLD. There were a bunch a limp slimy pieces of it that I had to pick out. They also didn’t serve pico de gallo with it, just some overly refrigerated tomatoes. Honestly, the glory that is the taco salad lies in its delightful contrast of temperatures and textures– and that was sorely lacking here. It was $ 10, which, in my opinion, was a rip off for something so haphazardly thrown together. I could have gone to Taco Bell and saved myself some $. The high point of the meal was the free bean dip. The appetizer should not be the best part and I won’t be returning there in the near future.

Stopped by for dinner with a friend — he had been here before and loved it, so here we were. The atmosphere inside is very cozy and inviting; lots of bright, warm colors. The patio is very open and greatly decorated. The chips come with three different types of dips: watered down guacamole, red salsa, and refried beans. The food was outstanding! I ordered the Mole chicken burrito and I got an enormous burrito covered in mole sauce– not drenched in mole in any way, but just enough. The burrito came with a small side salad which was pleasantly okay. My partner had Shrimp and Steak and he loved it. Our Aguas Frescas were also good. My Tamarindo was very sweet, slightly too sweet for my taste, but my partner’s Horchata was just so rich and delicious. The service was good, our waiter was attentive, but she was gone the entire time we ate– never checked on our water or how the food was. We only saw her for our order and our tab. But overall a MUST try and I will definitely be back.

Fantastic happy hour! With four dollar margaritas and appetizers, one can’t go wrong! I go here often with the gals after work for some nachos, chicken street tacos, and a drink. I love sitting outside on the sunny days where I can chat and chow down in comfort. They also have a great general menu with many of my favorites such as tostadas, enchiladas, and flautas. The wait staff is very welcoming and I never leave here unsatisfied or hungry.
