Apple Valley Post-Acute Rehab

Great facility with an excellent staff. My grandmother’s been here for the past month and has been well taken care of. She was in a different facility before and prefers this one. There are 3 beds to each room, and a thin curtain that separates each bed. My grandmother has liked getting to know her roommates. The place is clean and well maintained. The food is not fantastic but, hey what can you expect?

Post surgery therapy for total knee replacement was excellent. I would like to give the more than 2 stars. The laundry service was good & employees put effort into remaining positive.
I ‘m diabetic and the food was inappropriate, even though marked «diabetic» … like mashed potatoes, corn & white bread at a meal.
When my blood sugar went way up, I asked for it to be treated, but was told that was «normal’ when you’re in pain. I surely know that, but going untreated doesn’t help the healing process. Even on a hospital overnight stay, insulin was administered for my spikes in glucose levels. Maintaining healthy glucose levels is a medical challenge Apple Valley ignored, even when readings were almost 200, with «That’s normal.» They totally brushed aside repeated, polite requests to address this issue & only gave my regular pills.
Irregular hand washing was another troublesome issue. This is one of the most BASIC rules. Noise was a problem, with several visitors loudly in crowding, discussing highly personal family matters. Other times overhearing details of my roommate’s psychiatric medications for depression after an unexpectedly awful surgery outcome –I felt so bad for her. With a thin curtain, just inches away, as our only barrier the professionals should at minimum, lower their voices. In my opinion, it was a violation of her privacy for me to hear comments about what particular prescription «should» be doing for her «by now’.
It’s difficult to control odors, and it’s no fault of those who are incontinent. The problem was so pervasive, I found it difficult to cope. I have several kitties, so odors are not unknown to me. The shallow bed pans often make it necessary to change bed linen.
Thank goodness I got GREAT PHYSICAL THERAPY ! I remain grateful for that to this day, but dread ever having to return to Apple Valley.

If this place could get more Stars I would give them more. My dad has been here off and on for the past year and they have treated him with the greatest respect. When it was time for him to leave all the staff took their time to say goodbye and give him a hug.
If you are looking for a place for a family member, I highly recommend this place.

My grandma is well taken cared of here. The staff treats her with respect and are gentle to meet her needs as she recovered from hip surgery.
