This was literally the best bagel shop I’ve been to if you know how to ask for a tasty bagel. I absolutely cannot fathom them closing and it really breaks my heart. Im out of seattle for college at this point and coming back to a different shop is near disgusting

First time here. Bagels look good but counter help is rude. They are angry because I asked to slice my bagels. I felt rushed the whole transaction. I won’t return.

I’m with those who contend that this is not the New York-style bagel I was hoping for. More like a soft bread baked in the shape of a donut. On the other hand, the staff were quick, efficient and friendly.

Got the turkey bacon cheddar on Italian gourmet bagel. Delicious and can’t be better. Only downside is they forgot to make my coffee and the service was slow to get my bagel. Other than that, it’s a cute bagel shop for a quick bite in the junction!

Keeping the 4-star rating, but I don’t think anyone is pleased with prices going up by around a buck on just about everything in March. There’s a long, typed note by the cash register explaining the price increases(tied to minimum wage increases?) and making a reference to retraining staff. Hats off to the place for being honest and upfront with customers. Free coffee with greater than $ 3.50 purchase before 11. Sometimes offered, and sometimes you need to ask. Highly recommend.

I love this bagel shop. It’s close to where I live so I sometimes get to splurge on their delicious bagels and I’m never disappointed. I always get the onion or garlic bagel with flavored cream cheese(shmeer) They are always fresh, great variety and I enjoyed their customer service. They also offer free coffee with purchase until 11am. so if your an early riser this is the perfect breakfast stop. The only downside is that for me the shmeer is a bit thick so I ask for light cream cheese. I definitely recommend this!

I wanted to like this place. I really did. I mean, I’m a Jersey Boy. All I want out of life is a good bagel and a good slice of pizza. I had high hopes that this would solve the first need. Unfortunately, it didn’t. The thing about a good bagel is it should almost fight back. It should be a bit dense. it should have a good chew. You should have to clinch down with your teeth and pull the bagel back with your hands to take a bite. And these bagels lack all of that. They’re too fluffy, too airy, too light. And they also lack flavor. The everything bagel lacks punch. Very disappointed.

Came here for a late breakfast and there was no line. Nice variety of bagels, bagel sandwiches, bagel dogs and more bagels. We got a pumpernickel with lox spread and a pesto bagel with almond spread. Both bagels were delicious, nice and soft on the inside, nice crust on the outside and freshly made. The spreads were pretty good too. No issues with the food. Service was a bit strange, young gentleman seemed a little spacey, he asked us like 3 times what we ordered again. Uhhh… you have the bagel we’ve chosen in your hand. Kind of funny but whatever. As others have mentioned, its pretty expensive. 2 bagels with flavored spread was over $ 11. We didnt get any coffee, juices nor anything else. Great little neighborhood, I didnt have to fuss with parking as we just walked but its street parking or park on the side streets kind of action.

I went here on a whim one day when I was craving a bagel. I noticed these guys had a coupon on Unilocal,so I thought why not? The place was nice and toasty when I arrived and the two people working there were very helpful and friendly. I think the cashier was training that day, but regardless, he was very kind and helpful. I ordered the veggie bagel on an everything bagel. It was SOGOOD! It took me straight back to when my mother and I used to get bagels at the bagel shop when I was a kid. DELICIOUS!

Ok, this is a 3-Strikes-You’re-Out situation for us. We won’t be going back. I hate to say that, because we love to support our local businesses — and we LOVEBAGELS! 1. The service is exceedingly slow. Their process is incredibly inefficient, which results in quick-to-grow lines and long wait times. 2. It seems they have a hard time with drink orders. Our drink orders have never been made correctly. The«hot» vanilla latte took them so long to make, even after waiting awhile and finally eating, we had finished our bagels before they served a cool latte, with no flavoring — though when I pointed it out, they offered to pour some vanilla syrup on top. 3. The final straw was this last time. We got our bagels to go –to a nearby coffee shop. When I bit into my toasted blueberry bagel with cream cheese, it tasted — horrible. I could hardly swallow it, even though I was trying to smile through it. My husband was watching my face and took a bite — and immediately spit it out. It tasted like a bottle of perfume. I don’t know what those«blueberries» were, but they definitely were nowhere near fresh/frozen/edible. I ended up having to re-buy my breakfast, just eating something out of the pastry case at the coffee shop —(and it was delicious). So why 2 stars instead of 1? My husband’s breakfast sandwich was edible. Not delicious, but«ok» — and not worth returning for. Sad! We would really REALLY love a yummy bagel shop around here!

Deserving of zero stars this morning… Stood outside for 15 minutes past opening as three stoned teens fumbled about, apparently unable to comprehend how to unlock a door — one even had to hide in the corner, he was so high. If I were the manager/owner, I would be extremely embarrassed to have these people in my employ. Would have loved to try the bagels — they were somehow able to get a few trays out — but I guess it was not meant to be.

Oh I might not be from a long line of bagelists but I am from New York and I know a smear from a smuck. A smörgåsbord of bagels. I had a fantastic sun dried tomato bagel with lox. The fresh bagel was chewy and of substance, the lox was perfect and smokey with good capers. Skip the chains and roll up here.

Stopped in twice for lunch and was impressed both times. Reasonably priced and some of the best bagels I’ve ever had. Limited lunch menu online, but they have a daily specials board with many more options. I had the hot smoked salmon sandwich with capers and the Reuben daily special. Both were outstanding.

Not that great. Given the hype I expected more, but ended up paying way more. Might as well go to Safeway and make your own sandwich.

Pumpernickel bagel + hummus + tomato + lettuce = $ 6.59 plus tax The lettuce and tomato are fresh so, there’s that. The hummus is advertised as a «storemade blend» and that I find highly dubious. Fresh hummus tastes a lot brighter than the spread on my bagel, and I do not believe the store roasts their own garlic. Finding good pumpernickel in Seattle is not easy. The pumpernickel bagel here is okay. Not great or better, just okay. My sandwich came with the saddest pickle I have ever seen. How this meal equals $ 6.59 plus tax is anyone’s guess. Let me close with an observation of the staff: all young women. Nice but some are very green when it comes to food service. One woman is behind the counter tapping away on her smartphone; another woman is exchanging flirty banter with a guy instead of telling him, «Hey, I get off at _____, let’s talk then.» I really wanted to like this place but Zatz leaves a lot to be desired.

I love Unilocal! The reviews are so helpful in helping me make an educated decision on where to spend my dollars! I frequent Zatzs often and I decided to read their reviews as I was enjoying my bagel with cream cheese along with a cup of coffee! I enjoyed reading a two star review because, in part, the front door was hard to open. Oh my gosh! Stop Freakin, Call Beacon! Demand a free breakfast! How dare they!!! How about the 2 star lady who flipped out because their latte machine was broken! What self respecting restaurant would not have a spare latte machine, micro oven, toaster and refrigerator so this poor lady would not be inconvenienced. Or what pity should we shower upon the 3 star Unilocaler who discovered when she got home that she was missing her pickles! I sincerely hope that she still had her anti anxiety meds! Don’t get me wrong, I love pickles. I guess I just don’t believe in conspiracy theories to believe that they deliberately withheld her pickles! Oh, I almost forgot! If you are looking for a great local bagel joint with a wide variety(I love the multi seed), then you can’t go wrong with Zatzs! Unfortunately, Unilocal is the place to let everyone know how important you are and to let everyone complain about everyday life! Yes, things break, employees makes mistakes, computers go down! Me, just enjoying my bagel and coffee, watching the customers and counting how few of them are showing their smiles. Remember, the smile you give is equal to the smile you get! PS.Don’t forget to pull hard on the front door, it is a little tight!

Zatz right! That is a better bagel. This place is stocked to the ceiling with every bagel imaginable. But the best part were the variations on the Lox and Bagel. Accustomed to just the one Lox And Bagel with smoked salmon, capers, onions, and all the best fixings, this spot had not two, but three salmon choices. Wild Sockeye Lox, Atlantic Lox, and Wild Hot-Smoked King. I died and went Lox heaven. The salmon was fresh and delicious and perfectly paired with the right portion of cream cheese and onion. If only I lived in Seattle on the coast where the lox is ludacrisly good. But I suppose what Denver may lack in the lox department is made up for in so many more awesome things :)

Oy Vey! Zatz has the best bagels in town. Forget about New York bagels, because this West Seattle hot spot is giving the east coasters a run for there cream cheese & locks! Now my favorite is the sesame seed, doubled toasted with BUTTER! So darn good. Don’t be a meshugana get in line now!

I used to frequent Zatz quite often a few years ago, so when I visited West Seattle one cold and damp day, I was looking forward to my memory of Zats. The friendly service was still there, and the cozy small-town vibe with warm customers greeting each other and wishing happy holidays, brought a smile. And they had pumpernickel, so I ordered a scram-bagel with eager anticipation. Unfortunately what I received was a microwaved too-soft scram-bagel served in a plastic basket. What I’d anticipated was a delicious toasted bagel with my egg & green onions with cheddar. Meh, soggy. So either they’ve changed how they make scram-bagels or they’ve never really been«better». Maybe I could have specifically requested«toasted» but they should offer the customer the option between that or microwaved. Besides, why would you ever microwave a bagel except to save time? Certainly not for flavor or consistency, nor respect for the bagel. The other problem on this cold and damp day was their inability to make a real coffee. In Seattle. Their espresso machine was broken. No latte. No cappuccino. Only drip. Really? And I’m supposed to be happy that it’s free with my order? No. Maybe that was just an unlucky break for me or maybe this place needs a revitalizing and full review of their workflow for being a better bagel shop — including, removing the years-old plastic string-light clips that weren’t holding any lights and just made the window look tacky.

I don’t know how people can be such bagel snobs and NOT like Zatz bagels! We usually buy Safeway but tried Zatz by recommendation of friends, and they are divine. We each had toasted everything bagels with chive cream cheese, got two doggie donuts for our pooch, and got a free cup of delicious coffee. The staff welcomed us upon arrival, and we were in and out in 3 minutes, so I’m not sure where all the negative customer service reviews are coming from… As a West Seattle frequent visitor, I know I’ll be coming back to Zatz!
