Been here about 5 times now. The past 3 have been because it’s only 2 blocks away, the closest teriyaki to my house. The meat here is great. I’ve tried a few, the chicken katsu being my favorite and actually better than a lot of places I’ve had it. Their sides(potstickers, spring rolls, etc.) are also a solid 4 – 5 stars. However, the portions and a few other issues compared to my preferred places leaves something to be desired. The amount of rice is standard, no issue there, and in general the rice+meat plates have been on par, but… Maybe this isn’t a normal expectation, but at all of the better teriyaki places I’ve been to I can order one ~10 $ plate and there is enough of everything for two people to share and then some. After trying the yakisoba here for the third time, I am convinced there is more vegetable than noodle, and barely 1 serving of noodles at that. I am definitely fixated on how unsatisfied I’ve been with the soba plates I’ve tried here especially after the last one I got, in which there was literally a 1 inch thick layer of just vegetables at the bottom of the plate, topped with a scoop of a 50⁄50 mix of soba and veggies. So if you like veggies and pretending your meal is healthy(let’s be honest, this is teriyaki it’s not that kind of healthy), this place is great. And I am saying that seriously. The first time I tried it I was refreshed that there were more veggies, but they aren’t really great to begin with. Not even close to the best veggies I’ve had at a teriyaki place. All in all, this is a good place to come once in a great while for something a little different than your usual favorite teriyaki place, and if I could do 3.5 stars that would be perfect. The prices are on point, pretty competitive as they go lately. But if I had my way, I wouldn’t hesitate to switch Toshi’s location with one of the better places I’ve been to in Seattle.

Delicately(crispy not chewy) fried tofu in the vegetarian teriyaki and slightly sweet teriyaki sauce made the Vegetarian Teriyaki a perfect lunch choice for me. I usually don’t order fried tofu because it’s typically chewy(too meaty), which I don’t like, but this was a very light fry with a crisp crumb. Service was fast and courteous. 10 minutes for them to make it.

Teriyaki is one of those standardized meals that is supposed to be the same everywhere. Grill chicken, add sauce, and serve with rice and salad. It becomes all the more obvious when restaurants make it wrong or cut corners. To me Toshi’s is a gold standard for what teriyaki should be like. The chicken is grilled with the right amount of crisp without being dry. The sauce tastes great with the right amount of the toasted soy sauce flavor. The rice is always fresh. The price is reasonable with a pretty good lunch deal. To top it all off, the service is reliably friendly and the dining area is always clean. I just wouldn’t go anywhere else in West Seattle for teriyaki. The beef teriyaki is especially good here(thin slices of flank steak, I believe), so I usually get the chicken thigh and beef combo.

Decent clean and well prepared food. Beef teriyaki is good. Egg rolls are tasty as well. More of a takeout place than a dining since there are limited seats, especially if there 4 – 6 people in your party.

I live near by and eat here often. I think this is by far one of the better teriyaki places around, I had a room mate from Hawaii and he raved about it too. Everything is fresh and consistently good. I usually get the spicy chicken(a favorite) but often get the pork fried rice and potstickers as well. A nice family owned place.

My boyfriend and I came in on a Friday night at 5 pm. We ordered and sat down. About 10 minutes later, an avalanche of people came and didn’t stop till we left an hour later. Definitely a popular spot, and I wouldn’t dine in again unless I was here for lunch on a Tuesday or something when it was a lot more chill. The gal working the register needs a vacation or something. Really down, wouldn’t look us in the face. Food was dropped off without a word. My BF got the chicken breast teriyaki, and I ordered the shrimp and beef. Really good flavors. Rice was fresh and cooked well. Only complaint was the«salad» was just shredded cabbage with nothing else, not even the traditional crummy few slivers of carrot, and no dressing. There wasn’t any on the small side table either where the other sauces were. We didn’t bother saying anything because they were bombarded with people getting to go orders. Cramped spot with about 6 tables for two and 2 tables for 2. They offer a lot of bottled teas, sodas, juices and power drinks. They store them in the dining room which isn’t the best aesthetic. The walls are covered in posters for plays and shows that ended months ago but whatever, one comes to a fast food Japanese joint for the food, not for an experience. Parking is cramped in this area. Food: 3.5 Service: 3 Ambiance: 2 Parking: 3

Food was great and caught my tastebuds attention, but the service was missing that part. I had a cashier who took care of my order, but all I got from her was a stern look of disappointment or glum expression on her face. She only expresses them to more older adults, and I find that rude and disrespectful of me as a young adult. Overall, if this place had good service with all their customers, then I would rate this next time with a 4 star. For now to be fair, 3 is the rating that this place deserves until improvement.

I’ve been to this particular Toshi’s a few times over the past 5 years and have generally done so out of convenience, not because it was a destination I went out of my way to go to. I realize that each location is owned by different people/families, and there can be a noticeable difference depending on which one you to; this particular location is just a little sad in the money spent/food you get ration. And to borrow from a practice from Yasukos, the meat had obviously been cooked en masse and stored in a heating tray until my order came up; I have no issue with warming trays as a means of storing food, especially in the post school release time in which I went, but this chicken had obviously been sitting there for some time and was unpleasantly tough, chewy, and cartilage heavy crunchy. Skip this place and go to Vatsana thai or QFC.

The food is delicious and the service is pretty quick. I got the Prawn Fried Rice which was a heeping bowl of delicious fried rice… And 3 prawns. The location is nice and it’s a fantastic place for a lunch break. It is a bit pricy but it’s good food

Always friendly service, and consistently good food. The beef is extra tender and flavorful. I prefer the dark chicken to the white meat. Try the chicken-beef combo! Their cabbage salad is extra crunchy and fresh with a slightly sweet vinegar. If you’re feeling under the weather, order the soup! I’ve been going there for years, and it has always been dependable and good!

Ya’ll gotta change radio station at times. Upgrade with the aux cord I recommend. Unilocal snick dissing too saying I got a shorter review than most.

I won’t usually write a bad review if I’ve only been once. I’ll usually give a place a 2nd /3rd shot. Went here 3 times– 3 times it’s been an awful experience. Register is rude– gives no explanation for long waits or even a smile– it feels like a lunch lady in max. prison. It’s a TERIYAKI joint– so the food is probably sauced by the same bottle all teriyaki joints buy. The chicken is pre cooked and then just mass produced during lunch. So that being said– the goods all being equal– why stand and get treated like they’re doing you a favor when you order? 1st round– I was solo. Ordered my lunch. Made the mistake of not checking when I got it. By the time I opened, was home– so are someone else’s lunch. 2nd round — with my 2 year old daughter. Place order. Stood aside. Watch as 4 other guest go up order and then receive their orders. I ask about my order– was sternly told it’s coming — please be patient. Anyone out there who has a two year old– can attest: waiting with a two year old is an EXERCISE in PATIENCE. But hey– cashier lady is correct– I should patiently stand here quietly for 30 minutes with a squirming 2 year old why you proceed to get food for other guests first. Finally got my food– no apologies or anything. Just a stern«Here!» … 3rd round/solo — basically a combination of experience 1 – 2: long wait, rude interaction and wrong order. Poor excuse for a restaurant — great if they put in a max prison– I guess, but really not for the general public.

The food is good. Been coming here since I was little. Only thing that was bad was they tried charging me extra for buying water. Rather have my food to go instead.

I use to go here and eat from time to time, but because of what I witnessed today I will NOLONGER be coming here. I came to Eat with my friend and noticed a couple of younger girls come in to eat, from my table I could hear the cashier and her tone of voice was extremely rude to one girl while she wanted to order a rice bowl. After the girl orders, she leaves and comes back. After the girl goes to get her food. The cashier/waitress immediately starts to give her shit about purchasing a coke from the store nearby instead of getting one from there in toshis. What difference does it make? She bought food from YOUR restaurant? I can’t believe she had the nerve to even say anything. I should of took both of those girls to Toshios in the southend. The teriyaki and service is better!

I can’t eat here now because I’ve changed my diet so I can’t say this review is 100% up to date. However, if you want good, cheap teriyaki, this is the place. I’m not a fan of a lot of teriyaki I’ve tried around here since its been that sort of grocery store style teriyaki(don’t get me wrong, that stuff is bomb, but not ‘teriyaki’). It’s definitely more like actual Japanese yakitori with a delicious teriyaki sauce. The kalbi is amazing too. I think the price actually went up a few cents since I’ve last been there, but considering how much they give you it’s well worth the price.

I eat here at least once every 2 weeks. Close to home, good food overall, Katsu is especially good. I call ahead and carry out. Or I order, stop next door @ QFC for beer, and come back to pickup. Family is never sad when I bring home the chicken, potstickers and Katsu.

I finally caved and visited Toshi’s after being tempted by the alluring aroma after working out at the nearby 24 Fitness. I ordered the beef ribs and pork combo and my boyfriend got the spicy chicken. It was very pricey but we were hungry! It was awful. Small portions of meat on a HUGE bed of white rice and a huge bed of flavorless, disgusting, rubbery cabbage. The beef ribs were 75% inedible fat wrapped around bone. I almost choked on them because they were so gristly. My boyfriend was unimpressed with the chicken and actually preferred my pork(which was the only good thing). We both threw away the cabbage because not even the dressing could make it edible. In the end: Small portions of meat and high prices.

Hear lots of praises for the teriyaki here so had to pay this place a visit. Upon entering, I was greeted by the woman by the cashier. Very friendly and welcoming. First time here so I had to look around and the menu, my oh my, just reading it made my mouth water. I ended up ordering the Spicy Teriyaki Chicken over rice and Pot stickers(I’m a sucker for these). The chicken didn’t really have a kick to them nor a strong teriyaki flavor but they were still very delicious, also came with a side of shredded cabbage. I was disappointed but not so much since they were not the worse. The pot stickers were average as I can tell they were not home made. Store bought frozen like most places. Not as oily as I thought they would be from some of the reviews I have read. Overall a very average meal, was hoping the teriyaki was a lot better though. They have plenty of beverages to choose from as they have 2 – 3 huge refrigerator filled with drinks. Also stacks and stacks of packaged drinks lined up against the wall which made the place feel like a storage closet to be honest. The lady also seemed to remember lots of customers order. People would walk in and she would say their orders out and people would smile and nod. It’s nice to have someone remember you and what you get regularly. I would come back and try out their other variety of teriyaki. Was a pleasant first time.
