I first contacted Shawn via email. His responses were prompt. He asked me several questions to get a sense of exactly what I wanted. I was arranging a candid shoot for my toddler. Shawn offered a couple of available dates, places, times, one of which was perfect for us.
He was just AMAZING! He was comfortable with my child, he was personable and easy to talk to, and seemed very familiar with great areas for photos in the downtown area.
When I got the photos back (amazingly quickly!), I was able to appreciate his artistic eye. The photos were beautiful. They captured the essence of my daughter and her personality. He worked well with colors and angles to create really lovely pictures. I am very pleased and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Shawn Nichols to anyone else looking for a great photographer.

I decided to work with Shawn to take portraits of with my dog. We scheduled to meet at a great park that I was worried was hard to get to and he was totally open to it. I was very excited, but when the day came the weather was terrible. I was getting nervous about doing the shoot outside, and when I went to contact him to see if we can reschedule he already contacted me. It was a great relief to find out that we were on the same page, and we were able to scheduled immediately. During the photo shoot my dog who is not too into people he doesn’t know, instantly was friendly and intrigued by Shawn. I was very impressed by this. The whole shoot was very natural, fun, and we ended up with a lot of beautiful shots of my amazing dog in a couple of days!

I hired Shawn to take some headshots for my portfolio. At the start, I was incredibly nervous since it was my first time sitting in front of a professional photographer. He made the experience so easy and relaxed. During the entire session, he was incredibly understanding, professional, friendly, and did everything to make me feel comfortable. Eventually, I didn’t even notice the camera and was having too much fun just talking/​joking with Shawn. I am really impressed with what came out of the session. He sent me the shots a few days later with plenty to choose from. If you need a professional photographer who can make the whole experience of getting headshots or portraits easy AND deliver solid photos, I would highly recommend working with Shawn.

If you are looking for a pleasant, professional and reliable photographer, Shawn is your guy. I have had people/​friends take my photo in the past, but he makes it an experience that will leave you with gold shots when you are finished. When Shawn took my portfolio photos, we started off at Gasworks Park down by the water, and got some good shots in before it got too cold. After heading for shelter up the road, we made a trip to Archie McPhee’s, the toy store, and meandered around there with the camera.
Eighty percent of the evening was spent forgetting that we were working, and building what truly felt a friendship. The photos that Shawn presented to me afterward (which, by the way, was literally the next day) showcased how relaxed I was during that few hours, and also how good he is at capturing emotion.
