I admit i did not believe in traditional Chinese medicine before. I have always had cold hands and feet, headaches, and dizziness for as long as I can remember. My husband would comment how my feet are so cold even after being in bed for over an hour. I would have to crank up the heat in the car and always use space heater in my home office. I decided time to try new methods of warming up my body. I went to see the female herbalist here Spring 2014. On my first visit with her I gave her a list of my symptoms. She checked my pulse and tongue. She asked a few questions to conclude what herbs to formulate. We agreed to meet on a weekly basis until we know the herbs are working. After a few weeks seeing her I noticed a difference and as did my husband! My hands and feet were warming up. My headaches and dizziness had subtly disappeared. I was and am still impressed with the results. I started to ask my husband to turn off the heater in the car and only occasionally using the space heater. My feet now are mostly warm :) I am still seeing her because I was sick a few times which put me back to square one: cold hands and feet. It does take some work to cook up the herbs though and it gets tiring cooking my portion daily and drinking it twice a day. I find it’s perfectly ok to skip one day if I can’t drink twice a day as my body is still good according to the herbalist. The results from cooking is not the best taste in the world but I use a straw so I don’t have to taste it. My husband and I are quite pleased with the results because we can not figure out how to keep me warm even with feet heaters, socks, and layers of clothes and blankets. My blood circulation was very bad. My family physician told me this is how my body is and there’s nothing I can do. I did not want to believe it and wished I had started sooner! To confirm the Chinese herbs weren’t putting a damper on my kidneys or liver I went for blood tests and all came back normal. I gave this a four star because it’s a bit far since i’m traveling from Renton to Seattle.

This is the only place I go to to get Chinese herbs and medicine. There is a tea for colds that my family likes and this is the only one of 2 places that carry it here. Very authentic, and the ladies that work there are always friendly.

A little sketchy. A little divey. Super authentic. If you’re looking for an herb of any kind this should be your go-to stop.

Those Chinese herbal soup medicines are so horrible, but that’s not Pacific Herb’s fault is it? I have been here to see the doctor many times. He keeps a handwritten record, which was good because I was there for several consecutive weeks. They also have a lot of stuff to look at while you wait. They have a good selection of Chinese medicines and I’ve gotten cereal here too. The stuff is kind of expensive, but I find Chinese medicine usually is. 4 stars because its a Chinese doctor in town and there’s lot of stuff. No promises I enjoy my visits here. Oh yeah, they gave me a bunch of free Chinese calendars last December!

Pacific Herb & Grocery is a Chinese herbal shop in the I-District. Sometimes, Western medicine just does not work. There is only so much that Tylenol can do for you. Thus, I resort to using Eastern medicine, which Pacific carries all the ones I use. Like the small pellets that are called laryngitis pills when it is difficult to speak. Or ho yan hor, a Chinese herbal tea for indigestion, nausea and relieves internal heat. And white flower oil, which clears sinus congestion and helps relieve my once in a while stomach pains. Pacific also carries a lot of herbal teas and some Chinese grocery products as well. Sometimes, Chinese herbal shops are difficult because of the language barrier and not knowing what these products actually do. I would suggest asking staff if you are unsure about what product to try. Chinese and English is spoken here. I know this because I sometimes try to pass myself off as a Chinese speaker and fail the test. Seriously, how does someone tell this?
