This place is seriously amazing! New favorite spot before Sounders or anything for that matter.

I came here for lunch just before lunch rush and it took about 20 minutes to get my sandwich, then got very crowded just after. I ordered the Royal Bro-ham which was a little pricey, but definitely did not disappoint. I enjoyed the atmosphere in the restaurant, it was kind of hectic but they played good music and it was entertaining to listen to all the chatter while I waited for my sandwich. One of the best sandwich places I’ve been to I would definitely recommend checking it out.

I would rank this as my top pick of places to eat lunch in Pioneer Square. Their sandwiches are seriously legit. I had the Gypsy Rose Lee — prosciutto, fresh mozzarella, basil, EVOO, balsamic vinegar, on a toasted ciabatta roll. SOOOGOOD! I can’t wait to go back and try more! Pay a few bucks extra and turn any sandwich into a huge salad!

Oh, damn! A super-solid sandwich place a block from where I live and work?! Seattle, I love you! And Delicatus, I think you and I are going to be epic friends. Holy options, Batman. If you have a hard time making decisions when it comes to delicious food, I suggest peeping the menu beforehand. I was not prepared and was faced with the toughest decision of life. What sandwich do I get?! HALP. I ended up picking the simplest thing I could think of, the turkey club. I figured, heck, if they impress me with a club I know they’re good. Oh, and I ordered the pickle platter, because why the hell not? The club was on point. The turkey was smoked, which I love. It’s weird, but I’m not really a fan of how gamey turkey can taste. So, I prefer smoked deli turkey since I feel it takes the edge off. I did think it was weird that the sourdough wasn’t toasted, at first. But then I bit into the fluffiest sourdough I’ve ever had(chewy around the crust, of course) and immediately forgot about it. Speaking of non-traditional club things, there is no third layer of bread! I liked this. Who the hell needs that extra layer? I don’t. The pickles were delish, except for the sweet ones. But sweet pickles are an abomination. So, yea. Service was efficient, but not chatty or over-bearing. And for 1PM on a Friday, I found the restaurant rather empty – yet still a-buzz with light traffic. I couldn’t imagine a better way to dine there. Until I go back and try more, I’m happy at a 4.5. I was impressed and I can’t wait to eat my way through their enormous menu.

I was looking for a quick bite before heading to the underground tour and found this place just across the street! Delicatus is a cute little restaurant that has café style food as well as a fully stocked bar in the back. We weren’t too hungry so we just split the breakfast sandwich which was really good. I think it was a fried egg, ham, bacon, tomato, lettuce, and chive aioli…‘can’t remember what bread it was but it was good. I asked them if I could get my sandwich to go and they cut it in half for us and gave us water cups to go. Super nice and helpful staff, totally recommend this place!

Cool vibe, a few bar seats in back, great beers, and amazing sandwiches. They’ll make any sandwich into a great salad too. They turn tables quickly so don’t let a crowd discourage you. Love this place!

One solid sandwich shop! A large board of hot or cold sandwiches. STEALTHBOMBER is all I need to hear though. First time we went there my buddy drank the remaining au jus. Good pickles, and sodas, and ‘various accoutrements’ as Andy from 40 Year Old Virgin would say. Great spot for a sandwich if you’re in Pioneer Square.

So I really wanted to like this place. Dig the counter. Atmosphere is cool etc. But really. You can’t call a sandwich«east coast representing»(their pastrami Swiss and spicy mustard) and put such a small amount of pastrami on it. The pastrami was clearly not navel or brisket. If it was smoked I couldn’t tell and there was nearly no trace of pepper. If they were calling this a roast beef I wouldn’t have such a beef with it. This review is based on one sandwich so judge it on that. They’re other ones may be good but on this day in question I was craving east coast deli and this doesn’t live up to that standard.

The best sandwich shop situated in Pioneer Square with an immensely large selection of sandwiches. This place is jam-packed during lunch. My advice is to come early even if you plan to take away. I had the Pavo Diablo with hickory-smoked turkey, on freshly-baked sourdough, smeared with spicy chipotle aioli, paired with havarti and roasted poblano. Such amazing flavor! It came with kettle chips. If high-quality, artisanally-crafted and locally-sourced food is your thing, definitely come here!

Yes, it’s that good. Food: 5⁄5 The selection of flavors is very diverse, this isn’t a generic sandwich shop that tries to dress up generic with different sauces — this is the real deal. The ingredients are all top notch and they obviously take great pride in what they do. The portion sizes are VERY generous, you should seriously consider sharing unless you’re really hungry or planning to take some home. For the carb conscious crowd you can get any of their sandwiches as a salad instead. The slab of melty gooey brie on the A.L. Strong was huge and heavenly when paired with the other flavors. Service/Aesthetics: 5⁄5 Walk in and grab a seat, the menus and flatware are already waiting for you. Blues music, awesome wall art, great quotes, and friendly staff make this a place I want to hang out at for a while. Service was great.

It’s hard not to sing the praises of Delicatus. This is a solid sandwich shop, that offers much more than just sandwiches. They have wine, liquor, and beer, as well as some sodas, pickles, and salads, and moreover, helpful staff. When I worked in Pioneer Square, I’d go here regularly. When I was pregnant, they would make sure to heat up my favorite sandwich(Dixon Club), and when I come here with my kids, they’re attentive to the needs of a parent(easy access to the bathroom, utensils, booster seats, and high chairs.) Just be warned that it is popular, and can get crowded once noon hits. Come early, have a seat, and enjoy. Otherwise, wait a bit til the lunch rush is thinned out. You can also call in your orders to pick up later, or just get counter service to go. This place is a great option in Pioneer Square, worthy of locals and tourists alike.

All hail the rebel sandwich, apparently the ONLY sandwich that was a customer creation. I’ve even tried to replicate it back home, and with little success. Make sure you also order it with the Italian roll, which was perfectly crispy on the outside and soft/fluffy on the inside. My fellow diners got the mudd(sans BBQ sauce) and the diablo. We all loved our own sandwich choices! The only downside is the service, or complete lack thereof. There are no signs to tell you to seat yourself, so we stood there awkwardly, and eventually I just grabbed a booth. It’s also even more unclear if you’re supposed to order at the counter or wait for a server. We did get service at one point and eventually, when it came to paying for the bill, I walked up to the counter, because we had waited long enough. Honestly, do yourself a favor and just do takeout. I’d give their sandwiches a 4.5 star rating(alone). You’ll have a better experience!

If you love Seattle enough to know a bit of its history, you will appreciate what they do here. Just read the menu. It’s better than GPS for telling you where you’re at. If you love artisan meats and bold local flavors served with a touch of pride and attitude, you will dig this place. Not that Vegetarians are unwelcome here– they have beautiful roasted veggie sandwiches and delicious salads made with the same love and attention to detail. If you know about food, how it’s made, and prefer eating regional foods made by hand from original scratch recipes to whatever food warmed up by whatever flunky that came out of whatever can purchased at whatever restaurant supply mega-mart, you’ll appreciate deeply what happens here. This is a special place, not some flavor-of-the-month boutique imported from California or New York and plopped down in Seattle to try to soak up some of that young techie disposable income they read about in Forbes– no: This joint is an original, real part of the place where it does business, a member of its community. If you like Seattle enough to call it home, wherever you’re from, and you love seeing local food businesses outprep, outcook, outserve, and generally just outclass and outdo the corporate garbage that insinuates itself into our historic neighborhoods, you really need to eat here. Support this excellent local business! And if you’re just passing through from out of town but love the classic combination of a great sandwich and a beer, stop in here and see how it’s done in our neck of the woods!

Go early if you can! Even with two floors of seating, Delicatus in Pioneer Square fills up quickly during the weekday lunch rush. I had no idea that they provided full, sit-down service — I assumed that with most restaurants nowadays, everything would be self-service. Instead, our waitress came by quickly and often and patiently answered our many questions haha. :) Delicatus’ menu is pretty substantial. From traditional options to ones that are a little more adventurous, I’m sure that there is something for everyone. I was looking for an option with a little spice and opted for the Fire of 1889 this time around. For a sandwich with«Fire» in its name, it was a lot milder than I expected. I loved that the cilantro added a certain freshness to the sandwich though and was a great contrast to the pulled pork! Each sandwich comes with chips, which can be substituted for a different side for a little extra. Let me emphasize that Delicatus is definitely a gourmet sandwich shop — my bill turned out to be around $ 16 for lunch. I think it’s worth visiting at least once though, especially when you’re looking for a little twist to your typical sandwich. :)

i’ve tried delicatus more than a few times and every single time, they forget something. i usually order take out and they forget the chips or the kraut on the sandwich, it’s something every single time. i haven’t been back in a few months and so i thought id try again to see if things have improved. decided to try the warm chicken salad. what i got was a box of lettuce, one small round slice of mozz, a few slices of tomato, and disgusting long strips of cold, hard, fatty chicken. the chicken is so hard you can’t even bite into it. yes, i ordered at 2:15p, but i would really hope that you wouldn’t give me the lunch rush leftovers, for $ 13. not only was the salad awful, but when i walked in, the cashier rang me up like their was a hurricane coming. i was looking around to see if there was a dessert i might like. she didnt even give me time to look or ask if there was anything else she could suggest. it’s 2:15, there is no one in the place. whats the rush? i’ve called each and every time to give my feedback, but enough is enough. i shouldn’t have to tell them how to provide a decent meal and acceptable customer service in a city that provides so many options.(TATS is in the same neighborhood you know!!) delicatus, today is the LAST time i pay for an overpriced meal, have you send me off with an incomplete order, and not even provide a stitch of customer service. pardon me while i throw away this awful salad and try to find another lunch option for today!!!:(

After being told we could seat ourselves, we debated for a few minutes, then sat down. We waited and waited as the waitress went back and forth until my husband went up to tell her we were seated. Place was nearly empty. Ordered chicken vegetable soup. First, bowls came partially full and they are shallow. Ok, not a big deal. Waitress asks me how it is and I said it was very salty. Her response was that she had not tasted the soup. She later asked my husband how it was and he also said too salty. By then, she had tasted it and agreed that it was too salty but also stated that she didn’t make it. Her comment was that one should expect chicken soup to be salty(I disagreed) and thats when she said«I hope it was good enough» turned and walked away… rudely. We were both so shocked, we had to laugh. Finished our small portion of soup and had to go to register to pay. Result = no tip. Can’t even remember never leaving a tip!

I don’t know why I’ve never written a review for Delicatus after eating here frequently for the past few years. I absolutely love their sandwiches and both the potato salad and pasta salad are fantastic. I can’t remember the exact names of the sandwiches but the meatball sandwich. Fists of Fury? and BBQ Chicken sandwich are my go to’s. Even if im not hungry I just enjoy sitting at the bar for a few beers and hang out. I love their staff, good people and always really friendly and cool whenever we go in there. The only thing is I feel like their hours are really random but whatever, a lot of places seem to be that way in Pioneer Square.

I was looking for a place that had a good vegetarian/pescatarian menu when I came across this place. As I was studying the menu I was approached by a friendly employee who pointed out my options. The guy was rushed but helpful enough. I ordered the Ballard Lox with sundried tomato cream cheese and was pleased by the flavor and texture. The bread was crisp on the outside, soft on the inside. My food was brought to my table promptly. Biggest disappointment was the price. After subbing a side salad for chips, no drink, I walked out paying over $ 16.

Let me first say: delicious and filling sandwich. The bread was soft on the inside and slightly crunchy outside. I got their version of the French dip, and this bread so perfectly soaked up the au jus without getting soggy. Beyond amazing. I would give it a ten star if I could! So you might be surprised as to why the review is for just three stars… Well read on my friend. Everything else was bad. Really truly awful. The chips did not seem to be house made or anything special and there were very few on my plate and those of my fellow diners. The sandwiches also started off at $ 10/each… Started there. Any changes or additions you would be paying well over $ 15/sandwich. This would have been made tolerable if the service was acceptable. And it was not. Service was slow. Did not get refills on our water, at all. No eye contact from the server at any point. The only treating we got when we arrive was«how’s it going?» Then she dropped the mines on the table and walked off. It would seem that what she really meant to say was«what the **** do you want?». Rude, curt, slow. And they weren’t exactly packed. I shocked to see this business has obtained a four star review. Great sandwich, not worth it.

It was my first time here, since Longhorn is gone. I ordered the BBQ chicken sandwich, which was quite tasty, and paid extra to sub the potato chips for the coleslaw. Because one can only imagine how delicious the sandwich would be with coleslaw in it.(hint: inspired by Tatstrami at Tat’s Deli). However, after walking blocks back to the office, is when I realized that my coleslaw was not in the bag but I got the chips instead. =(Though, the sandwich was good, but it could be better. So I’m kinda disappointed… I most likely wouldn’t go out of my way to come back.

I went here a few days ago when I was with my parents on a weekend trip to Seattle. We were hungry but wasn’t sure where to go to lunch. We had recently finished the Underground Tour and stumbled upon Delicatus. Since we were in the mood for sandwiches this looked like a great place. I enjoyed the menus. After each sandwich name they had a description of the name of the sandwich. For example after the sandwich titled«the activisit» it said(You may get the urge to tie yourself to a tree.). I thought it was fun and quirky and a nice add on. Our waitress was really friendly and she was really helpful. They had run out of Mexican Coke so she suggested I try the Jones Coke Soda they had on tap since that was also made out of real sugar. It was nice she was able to give me another recommendation instead of just letting me know there was no coke. The soda was good(not as good as a mexican coke!) but I still enjoyed it. I decided to get a sandwich with lamb shoulder with lettuce, tomato and jalapenos called the ShankLamb. I was in the mood for something spicy and I love lamb and had been craving it lately. Our waitress gave me a suggestion to add goat cheese to this because it paired really well with the lamb. Since I LOVE goat cheese I took her up on this suggestion and I’m glad I did. I really enjoyed the sandwich and the goat cheese added an extra sweetness to the sandwich that it wouldn’t have had otherwise. If you order this sandwich make sure you add goat cheese! The portions are a great size and I was full after half a sandwich so I just ate the meat and cheese out of the other half of the sandwich since bread is filling. If I wasn’t walking around the rest of the day I would have taken it to go but I didn’t feel like walking around with it. The only downside was it was really hot in there. It didn’t have AC and they just had fans. On a 90 degree day it felt a little warm. I understand why AC isn’t necessary though-I feel like the 90 degree days are few and far between in Seattle. If you are looking for somewhere to go after the Underground Tour(or even if you’re just in the area!) I would recommend Delicatus.

I’m sure the sandwiches are great, and if you want one I would recommend just ordering at the counter. We made the mistake of sitting down for«service»… waitress, who’s name I did not get, was prompt with the water and asking if we wanted something to drink… we declined and just wanted the water… A few minutes later after looking at the menu we had decided on our selections… still no waitress… they weren’t busy, I think we were one of three or four tables in the whole place… a few minutes go by again, and still no waitress… I glance back in the kitchen and see the waitress on her cell phone… At this point we were at least 12 minutes into our wait since being greeted… so we left…

I wasn’t feeling well and had a crazy craving for a reuben. I hardly ever eat red meat or pork lately but the craving was undeniable. Probably some kind of vitamin deficiency. Anyways, when I crave protein I try to go for the good stuff. The Classic Reuben is huge, and so full of flavor and the corned beef was soo well trimmed, if I ever have the craving again, I am definitely ordering another. Super high quality sandwich, and by far the best reuben I have had in a long time.

Walking distance from my office, I met a friend here over lunch recently. Weekday lunch hour at Delicatus is pretty busy, but I managed to get a seat. The team here is quick and always around, or so it seemed. I ordered the Pavo Diablo sandwich for two reasons: I am a spice FREAK and this sandwich has roasted poblano peppers on it, and because it is on sourdough bread — my ultimate addiction. The bread was a little disappointing, lacked the sourdough flavor that I craved, but the stuff the sandwich is packed with was allllll good. The peppers really kicked it up a notch! Served with chips that weren’t too memorable. Next time, I’ll try the Mudd Honey that everyone’s raving about! And I might just do take-out instead to avoid the lunch-hour crowd.

Very cool spot. Came here for lunch around noon and it was PACKED. We got lucky and found seats at the counter. It’s a full service restaurant and the server was really nice. I ordered the Mountain which was pastrami, corned beef with russian dressing. It was HUGE and yummy. It also came with potato chips which were also great. They had Jones soda on tap — 5 or 6 of the varieties. I haven’t seen this before anywhere, so thought it was pretty cool(supporting local business). I will be back for sure to try other sandwiches. So many options here. They take credit cards!

Delicatus is a great sandwich and lunch spot in Pioneer Square. The prices are on the higher end ranging from $ 8 – 13 for sandwiches but the quality is good and the portions are generous. I had the reuben. The sandwich was good but I loved the oyster stew. I will definitely be back for lunch! I’d like to try more of their extensive menu! Friendly service, too! Decided to stop by today for a sandwich while in the area since I have heard how good this place is from other people. A group of 4 of us put in our order and waited for over 35 minutes for our food. We were getting concerned about how much time it was taking and tried to ask our waitress but she was not around all that much. The place wasn’t busy at all so we weren’t sure why there was such a long wait. I had the Mudd Honey and it was pretty darn good. The bread was great and I even liked the horseradish sauce which is a big feat for me. The BBQ sauce was sweet but I think it complimented the sandwich. I also liked how they had Mexican Coke on the menu.
