24 Hour Fitness

Attempted to sign up under a friend for the week free to try this gym out again (last time i was a member was 3 years ago). I was really interested in signing up as a member again if i liked the classes because of the location. After multiple phone calls on a daily basis to get me to come in i read another Unilocal review saying that a potential customer was turned away from the gym because she had been a member at another 24 hour location…
I called the gym and asked specifically if i could try out the classes with the free week they had been badgering me to come in about and after looking up my account and seeing i too was a previous member at 24 she said No. Then said i could pay $ 25 to use the gym instead.
Good luck with customer retention. You should be excited that past members are interested in signing up again, not turn them away.

If I could give zero stars I would. I have been getting phone calls daily about coming in for a 7 day guest pass. Today I went in to try it out and they told me that since I had been to a 24 hour fitness before, that I could not use the guest pass that they had called to offer me. I was already at the gym and when I asked if there was anyway I could work out for that day since I had already driven there and was excited to workout, THEY SAID NO! They turned me away which is pretty ridiculous if they actually care about anyone’s fitness goals. I am extremely disappointed, and plan to never go to ANY 24 hour fitness location again.
On another note, the gym was insanely crowded and set up very poorly for the space available.

Staff is great. Trainers awesome. There are some people that shouldn’t be here because they waste time not doing anything or creepy af. The people that go there are cool and parking isn’t too bad either.
Overall experience has been positive. I have close friends who recently have become trainers there, and people at the front desk recognize you after while. Definitely there are some who are lazy and just don’t have the welcoming attitude but for the most part they all say hi and smile. I’ve grown close to a couple of them — a smile and a «how are you?» go a long way. It’s the little things that matter most. As for trainers: Rodrigo Arambula, and David Bruce Rennick should be your go to. I may be biased because I’ve grown up with David but I’ve seen him go from a small skinny track kid, to a yoked out muscle man who won an armature competition. He has a lot of knowledge and dedication. Rodrigo is one of the most knowledgable people and cares about you as a person. He makes it his goal to help you mentally and physically. If you’re willing to strive for success, he has your back.
As for creepy people or useless people. There a few notable ones. Holy shit if you guys go here you know what I’m talking about. Asian guy, balding, skinny. Goes around the 8oclock time. He just stares, and looks creepy af. Doesn’t do anything. Smh.
On the upside, the majority of the gym goers are friendly; don’t hesitate to ask for a spot. Everyone is out to better themselves and will even give you advice if they notice that you’re a new at the gym. The fuck load of TV’a are great especially during the football season. Everyone cheers and yells. It’s like being at the bar drunk on weights and gains.
There are also merchandise and supplements/​products you can buy as well if you need some more protein, pre workout, a snack, or apparel.
As for parking, there’s the main floor and the floor below. I think the space is generous! If you’ve ever been to the international district, you know what a tight squeeze is.

They changed the number of people who can attend Water Aerobics, cutting the number of participants in HALF. Now, you can PAY EXTRA to attend or wait in line over an hour to sign up for «free» spots. The manager was nasty and refused to discuss alternatives. She also refused to give her superior’s contact information. Writing to the web address was also fruitless. The club is not especially clean, especially the water aerobics. Training area smells awful, roof is falling in and tiles missing. Even though they have changed the terms of the classes, they refuse to allow me to end my membership early. Disgusting and disgusted.

I give this location a 3.5
I attend 3 – 4 in the area and each for a different reason. Being able to have a membership that allows you to attend all gyms is a really good idea because each has it’s strengths and weaknesses.
This gym is for you if you get motivated by a lot of people and don’t mind not having too much privacy or space to exercise. The gym is pretty clean, well maintained, includes towel service, free-​parking, Wi-​Fi and seems to have something for everyone.
I come here for classes and not cardio or weights. It’s really busy and while you won’t find yourself waiting for any cardio machines (unless you want one with a TV) you will probably find yourself waiting for weight lifting equipment. This area is really busy and at least during peak hours (5 – 8) you will barely even find a spot to put a mat down to do some sit-​ups/​push-​ups/​stretching.
The bathrooms are big and not overly crowded. They are also pretty clean. I really like that this location offers towels. It’s so much easier to not have to carry your own (wet) towel around.
Besides the cardio and weightlifting they have one big group class room, a cycle studio, a pool and sauna.
If you feel intimidated by crowds when working out this probably isn’t the place for you. Maybe off peak it’s less busy.
My staff interactions are limited to the front desk and group fitness instructors but have all been positive.
One negative is the ventilation doesn’t seem great. It never smells very good.
Parking (free) is available in the garage and you should always be able to find spot.

Yes, I am a fan of 2 years, thoroughly enjoy training with Luca, however — it seems the cardio machines have a continual problem with keeping them in working order. There is always a machine that is not working and seems to take forever to get fixed; the sound systems if you want to use your ear buds to listen to the TV are nearly always broken or take some jiggling to get the sound to get to your ears, the TV monitors with the machines break frequently and… once again… take forever to get fixed. Even the TV’s that are mounted thru the gym to watch have their numbers ripped or torn off so you have to try to figure out which TV is what number. So, while the gym is clean, the people are all very nice, the trainers are great; they really need to work on keeping the equipment in full working order. I’ve been going to this gym for two years, there are a lot of folks who go here (i.e. machines are heavily utilized) and it would be nice if my monthly fees were spent on keeping machines working, perhaps getting new ones (the only thing that has been replaced during my tenure are the stationery bikes), and addressing problems straight on as opposed to taking down the information and sending it to the round file.

Some aspects of this gym are fabulous but if you want to avoid running outside during the winter months and would like some entertainment while you exercise, this would not be the place for you. There are many aerobic machines, definitely a plus. Many of the ones on the sides have individual televisions but often something doesn’t work, either the television or some aspect of the machine itself. Until a few weeks ago that was not a big impediment because one could watch one of the «public» televisions. That is still true but ¹⁄₅ of the televisions are set on the 24 Hour Fitness «channel». Most of the time this channel appears to show music videos in which women often «dance» suggestively, even reaching for their crotches. To make this worse, these televisions are the ones in the middle of each bank of televisions so it is difficult to avoid watching them. Yes, I can bring an IPad to watch my own videos but we are paying a hefty membership fee so I shouldn’t have to bring my device. I am seriously considering cancelling my membership and going to another gym. We have been told that this is a corporate decision and that there is nothing they can do about it at the individual gym. We weren’t told this when we filled out their comment log a few weeks ago and have not had any response. This makes us wonder if 24 Hour Fitness is receiving a royalty for showing these videos but not passing along any benefit to the members.

I like the gym. I like the equipment, I like the location. However; there have been two overhead lights burned out in the cardio room for over two months now making it harder and harder to see as our days get darker. I have asked four separate times (including writing a note to the Mgr) and there are still these dark sections in the room making it difficult to see. It is not their fault I have poor eyesight but with ignoring basic maintenance and a reasonable request, it sends the message they don’t really care.

Very busy center

This is like any other chain gym but significantly nicer than other 24h fitnesses especially in terms of cleanliness. The facility is well staffed and people working there are constantly cleaning up the bathrooms and trying to keep the place very orderly. It’s hard because there’s a lot of people and there are a lot of disgusting behaviors from gym goers. If you go during peek times the staff has a lot harder time keeping up with the mess in the men’s bathroom.
The equipment is good. Not the newest but it does the job and there’s a lot of different machines and other equipment besides just weights. They have a TRX machine and various balls and other things for stretching and resistance training. My suggestion is to add a couple more leg machines with free weights.
There’s a pool and a hot tub. I’ve never used them but they look nice. People seem to enjoy them. The steam room could use a little improvement. I think having a separate one for men and women would be better for privacy and comfort.
I’ve never done the group X classes but what I’ve heard is that there’s a lot of options for all levels of fitness. The one area of improvement for the Group X space is that it would be better if they had a more powerful sound system, a stage for the instructor and video screens so people near the back can see.
They also have babysitting. I’ve never used it but it’s available for those interested.
They have a wide variety of trainers in terms of experience level so make sure you choose one that’s at the right level for you. Do your homework. That’s my advice. I’ve seen trainers spend some of their session having the trainee do cardio. You don’t need to pay a trainer to watch you do cardio. You could do cardio before your session starts.
The parking is a bit scattered. There’s some parking downstairs but most people have to park across the street in the mall parking. So when it’s cold and miserable outside make sure to wear your winter jacket because the intersection has a long light.
They have a lot of cardio machines like stationary bikes, treadmills, elliptical machines and stair masters. They all work good but only some of them have video screens. It would be nice if more had this. They also have stationary bikes for the cycle classes if you’d prefer a group setting.
The ventilation in the gym is good because the ceiling is very high. This helps a lot so you don’t feel stuffy inside especially in the winter and summer.
Overall it’s a good facility.

This is the less smelly and more spacious version of the 24 hour in downtown Seattle. Very nice, new and clean! Overall, I’m really pleased with this gym.
The pool is usually crowded during the normal hours (7am to 8pm) but still is nice to have the option of a swim. I like to lift in the morning since the after work crowd seems to be a little much for the amount of weights and benches they have. But even during peak rush hours, I never have trouble getting a cardio machine.
Staff are nice, never personally tried the training or class options they have (but the trainers always seem to be with clients and the classes always seem to be well attended).
24 would get my fifth star if their prices at Northgate were a little lower. I’ve gotten screamin deals at the 24 downtown (20 bucks a month). The membership folks at Northgate just don’t budge. It is almost worth the price, and would be if I lived closer and went more often during off peak hours.

Was upfront about wanting a 2 month membership as I am moving away and that was all I needed.
Pros —
— The facility is newish
— Open 24 hours
— Sauna, steam room, & pool.
Cons —
— They don’t tell you that 2 months is actually 1 month and 24 days.
— After they sign you up, staff completely ignores your requests. The overly tanned big breasted women is rude and is the only person whose never greeted me.
— Your last month you’ll lose your finger scan privileges and you’ll be asked about your cancelation every time you walk in. I was told theirs nothing they could do about it. Went to a different location and got it fixed immediately.
— Pressured into buying membership
— Overall bad customer service.
— Dirty lockers rooms/​bathrooms despite workers seen standing around all day.

I love this gym. It’s clean, the equipment is nice and well-​maintained, they even just put in a crazy new squat-​slash-​deadlift rack city (not sure what to call it, but it was much-​needed). I personally haven’t done any of the classes, but they seem popular.
The only problem I have with this gym is how crowded it is. It can be hard to get on the machine you need (especially the bench press) and if you’re trying to get some pool time, you better be coming at the dead of night – and even then a lot of times its full.
Still, its a great, well-​kept gym and I live a 5 minute walk away. Couldn’t get much better.

In general the facility is great however, the equipment is scrambling, 2 out of 6 water fountains did not work for over a week, 4 out of 7 TV treadmill machine having issue with the sound system (you cannot adjust the volume) this issue been going on over 3 month!!! I am tired of reporting same issues more than twice !!!

Facility is very nice in general, however it can get very crowded at times. You have to plan that your workout does not go accordingly when you come when its busy. On top of that, its not the most friendly gym for those who like to deadlift, as they do not have bumper plates.
Other than those two concerns, I would definitely recommend this gym. Very clean, friendly staff, great location, nice machines & free weights, and good overall atmosphere.

This gym’s equipment is spaced rather closely. The ventilation in this location is also pretty bad as it get’s stuffy and pretty smelly when it gets busy, but really that isn’t my problem. My biggest problem is with the salesman David (short bald guy). Not only was he a pushy salesman, but he made the mistake of mass emailing a promo and not BCCing the emails! So everyone’s emails are exposed!
SO UNPROFESSIONAL. The experience I had with him about bringing guests in for a free trial was just terrible. I’ve brought people to the Bothell location and the Redmond location and they never hassled my guests like he did.

I’ve been a member at this location since it opened in late 2010. I love the gym and can’t beat the location, I’m pretty low maintenance when it comes to what I’m looking for in a gym.
But honestly, the management about this gym doesn’t seem to care about the upkeep of the facility and for a club that is only 4 years old that is sad. There are consistently used towels everywhere. I come in at 5am on weekday mornings and compared to the state of the downtown Bellevue location at the same time, this club is a mess.
The showers in the women’s lockerroom are consistently clogged and dirty (I’ve seen evidence of mold in them as well). Management never responds to my concerns.
In the women’s dressing area there has been a light out for about 9 months now, it’s been mentioned multiple times and they don’t fix it.
The ventilation system is also all out of wack, most of the time it is hot, muggy and has a weird smell to it.
And the worst part, one of my gym friends had a guy flash her in the pool area one morning. They actually found the incident on tape but then said they couldn’t do anything about it…
Love this place, and feel bad airing the «dirty laundry» on Unilocal however I have yet to see any results from talking to the staff. I will keep coming here because there aren’t any other viable options nearby but I think the management staff is horrible and wish 24 Hour would consider making a change at the top before they run this facility into the ground.

I’ve been coming to this branch of 24hr for about a month. I can say that I really like the establishment.
Doesn’t smell like feat — yay!
Plenty of trainers to help out — yay!
Lots of exercise equipment — yay!
I’m only bummed because the former 24 I used to go to had the Olympic lifting section, and that’s missing here.

One of the managers or sales people calls me desperately for a few days, when I finally pick up and tell him I’m looking for a deal similar to what I used to pay he laughs at me and talks rudely and sarcastically. His «today only!» Sales pitch didn’t work on me so he decided it’s ok to be rude?! I wish I remembered his name. What a horrible customer service! I don’t feel like joining this gym anymore.

Ok, I think 24 hour fitness here is great and all– good location, fun classes, adequate parking (when you can find a space longer than 30 minutes), I’m getting fit, and the Tuesday Zumba class with Sergio is the bomb! (it should be renamed, «1,000 Calorie Burn in 60 minutes!» because it is THAT awesome, but I have to say, I’m UNDER-​impressed with 3 things:
–#1: mom visited Seattle and wanted to exercise with me. 24 Hour Fitness wanted to charge her $ 20 even though I had a coupon to take a free guest (small print said locals-​only, which is awesome for people with local families… just not mine). I get that this is a nationwide policy, so perhaps someone can look into making this change? My unimpressedness was exacerbated by the fact that I called prior to my mom visiting and they said it wouldn’t be a problem, got to the front desk and they said it wouldn’t be a problem, then at the mandatory intro meeting it was when it was determined that my mom couldn’t use the coupon because she’s not a Seattleite. Would love for everyone to be on the same page!
–#2: no women’s-only sauna and steamroom time– an idea would be to build a sauna and steamroom INSIDE the women’s locker room (there’s definitely room of them!)– maybe this is where the $ 20 visitor fees can go?
–#3: Why isn’t Sergio teaching more classes? His skill level is basically Dancing With the Stars– quality, and is probably a dance choreographer himself. I coudn’t be more impressed. Hopefully he’s getting paid what he’s worth (again, perhaps another use of the $ 20 visitor fee).
