The only reason why I give 1 star is because we got refused service at 9:14. If you are open till 9:30 with people still in the resteraunt then we should have been served. The only excuse we got from the rude receptionist or hostess is that they only seat people till 9:15. If you are only going to serve/seat people till 9:15 state that you are open till 9:15. Other than that I am sure that the food is great and I would have loved to have eaten there. Thank you to hophead for serving us.

Super fresh. The triple fantasy roll special was great and they weren’t stingy with the toro.

I’ve been here twice and have only had the sashimi. The pieces were decently sized and tasted pretty fresh. The presentations were nice as well. I do like their salad dressing because it isn’t super sweet like some japanese places in the area. My only critique is regarding the miso soup which wasn’t hot.

First time here and I am blown away from their fast service and fresh sushi! Sat at the sushi bar and it’s so nice. Their high ceilings make the restaurant appear bigger and roomier! Their sushi is to die for, so fresh and tasty! I ordered their«Hot Mama» was mild and the sauce was amazing, didn’t need the extra soy sauce. Sushi experts were fast and made sure their dishes were presentable and asked if you liked it! Costumer service on point! Coming back

Great food, terrrrrible service! We went in at a time when there was only two other tables, so the restaurant was nearly empty. We were seated quickly and was not brought any edamame to begin with. When we ordered, it took almost half an hour for the food to arrive when, again, there were barely any other customers there. Our waiter didn’t come around to refill our teas(we had to personally ask at the end), nor did he come around even ONCE to ask how we were or what we thought of the food. We also had to ask someone else for a togo box. When he finally came at the end whether we needed a to go box we said we already asked for one and he just gave us our check. Completely useless waiter. On the bright side, the portion is humongous. The dinner special comes with 2 entrees, a salad, rice, and miso for 19.50 $. Or you can get 3 entrees with all of that for 22.50 $. I ordered the nigiri and the fish portions were thickly(?) sliced. We tried the salmon and beef teriyaki and they definitely do not skimp on the meat! The salad is a generous portion as well, the most I’ve seen given at a sushi restaurant. The shrimp tempura is HUGE. They must fit multiple shrimps inside that one huge slice because otherwise I’ve never seen a shrimp that big! Would go again, but definitely would not ask for this waiter.(He’s a young guy.)

My wife’s and my first visit to SG was pleasant. She had the tonkatsu and I ordered the Rainbow Roll + Golden California Roll. Serving sizes were larger than expected, so I really had to work to finish my order. Service was prompt and friendly. We’ll be back!

Excellent in every way. We get very good service with excellent food. Eating here could easily make me a sushi junky. Absolutely the best place in town.

One of the largest non-buffet Japanese restaurants I have ever been to! The same can be said of their menu as well! The team there was friendly and very attentive to our needs. Portions are generous and the food is ok. We ordered two of their special sushi rolls for the table to supplement the individual orders(bento box, combo sashimi, etc.). Everything was accurate and decent in terms of freshness.

This is my favorite indulgence. Wonderful menu, lovely ambiance, and extremely polite, friendly staff. Nice variety of rolls and it’s a super convenient location. Even when it’s busy, it doesn’t seem too loud, which is a big plus for me.

The food was spectacular and beautifully presented! I loved all the sushi. We ordered the dragon, the mountain and the spider roll. I must say that was the BEST spider roll I’ve ever had! As a group of 5 we shared chicken Teri don, beef kushiaki, beef teriyaki, tempora udon and some edamame on the house. We were stuffed and have enough for leftovers! Our server maple was very sweet and attentive. Sushi garden is well deserving of 5 stars! Can’t wait to come back!

My first visit to the new sushi restaurant several months ago was excellent. Service was good, everything tasted fresh and flavorful. Prices a tad high, but the portions and quality seemed worth it. The nigiri sushi was generously cut. If I had reviewed after that visit I would have given it 4 or 5 stars. But I usually like the visit a place a couple more times to see if the first experience was typical or not. In this case, not. Upon first sitting down I ordered hot tea. It was delivered promptly and tasted like it had boiled several hours with rancid tea leaves or sweat socks, or both. Plus it was lukewarm. I sent it back and never received freshly brewed tea or an apology. Next I ordered a two item entrée with tempura and nigiri. While that was being prepared, miso was served. It too was lukewarm and tasted really bad, as if too had been infused with sweat socks. At this point I was looking forward to the entrée since how could they screw up tempura and sushi? Well, I never tasted them because the tempura came cool to the touch, and the generously portioned nigiri I had experienced previously was no where to be found. Instead, 4 small nigiri were served, size on a par with grocery store sushi. The server asked if they could heat up the tempura. No no no. I just sent it all back because at this point I was pissed. The restaurant was not super busy, but there was a large party in a side room, which perhaps diverted the chefs from focusing on others. I will return to give them another chance, and will edit my rating if I should have the same excellent experience as my first visit. Until then…

Had no idea this location existed(within walking distance to Best Western, right off the freeway) We were pleasantly surprised to find the same friendly service and quality ingredients being used here as the Capitola and Watsonville locations offer. Eternal Sunshine roll was amazing, however, the brown rice(which we asked for in the roll) was served later on the side. Steamed Gyoza was light and always recommended by well… Me :) Letdown of the meal would have to be the edamame was overcooked, however, it was on the house. Definitely coming back. Try them out!

Excellent service and staff! The tuna was so fresh, it melts in your mouth! Taylor was my server and she did an amazing job! It was a tough challenge to beat the old place here, called Yamamori. However, I think they have exceeded this accomplishment!

First time going to Sushi garden and we’ll be back. The service issue mentioned by other reviewers seems to have been resolved, since even on a busy Friday night, our service was prompt and the staff friendly. I tend to judge a sushi place by the quality of their Chirashi, and sushi garden did not disappoint. My husband got the steak teriyaki and the portion was huge and judging by his clean plate, excellent. We will be returning soon!

I’m writing this review at 9:19 after we were basically just closed out of our dinner tab as they decided to close early. I can understand if a restaurant is having a slow night and decides to close early but to seat us, not say anything about closing early and then cut our dinner short for an employee meeting is pretty lame. We are a group of 4, order 6 specialty rolls, 2 miso soups, an appetizer, a salad and 2 large bottles of sake and 2 large beers. Tab was $ 120. As we are eating our sushi rolls, the waitress comes up to our table and we ask for another bottle of sake. She says they are out for the night and that we need to close out our tab as they are turning off the machines due to an employee meeting. I ask her about their posted closing time which says 9:30 and she says: yeah but we have an employee meeting, sorry. Then they turn all the lights on, turn the tvs off and start bussing the plates from our table. So my husband who was going to order desert isn’t offered any and we are told we can sit there as long as we want but we have to close out. They didn’t even fill our empty water glasses. We put our cards down and the service has become the fastest it’s been all night as 2 people work to get our cards processed, cleanup the table and bring us our receipt. There are a lot of good sushi restaurants in this town, we will be visiting a different one from now on.

I’ve been to Sushi Garden a handful of times since it opened and have been impressed each time. The service is on point, the fish is fresh, and the food quality is excellent. I enjoy the ambiance too. There’s plenty of seating and the noise level is good for holding conversation. It doesn’t carry the busy bustle sound of many restaurants. Parking is good, as its shared with the shopping center the restaurant is located in. I would say the big bonus is the sushi chefs are happy to accommodate special orders and requests. Another thing of note which is they wrap the ginger in paper so it doesn’t bleed all over your dish. As someone who doesn’t care much for ginger, this is much appreciated. Food presentation is excellent as well.

Sushi is ok, I thought both of my basic rolls were pretty small. I have ordered the same items at the soquel location and they were more filling, but whatever. However, I do not dwell on little things like that. The two stars(really should be 1) is for the FLIES. They landed on me, on my food, buzzing around my table. I was in the farthest corner away from door, so it was not a few flies that snuck in and went out. They were there my entire dinner, which took too long to get food then wait for check etc. not good service. Also i noticed the workers noticing and talking about the buzzing flies but not doing anything about it. Yikes.
