This place never disappoints us. Always have good time and good food. The service is better than lot of other Indian restaurants on Golf Rd. Paneer Bhurji, Veg. Kolhapuri, Mysore Masala and Sambhar are few among many favorites. Garlic naans are the best and innovative with little sprinkle of chaat masala on top.

I ended up getting chicken Tikka masala instead of the buffet. It was good. The price seemed a little much for the amount of food they give you. A tiny bowl of rice, which was disappointing. The dish spice was just right and was very tasty. Chicken was tender. I liked the décor and the dishes they use was unique. I will try this place again but this time I’ll try the buffet 10.99 instead of 12 $ a plate.

The food is good but the South Indian dishes are heavily over priced. The reason for my review is to let others know the customer service is horrible. I wouldn’t even give them one star based on customer service they would get a F-. I ordered a chili naan they put chat masala on it. I didn’t even touch it or eat it I asked them to give me one without chat masala on it as I have never seen anyone put chat on a naan before. The girl said they can not write a description for each item and she will ask the manager. She came back and said we can make you a new naan without the chat masala but u can not return the one u don’t like you will still have to pay for it and pay for the new naan also. All this drama over one little naan! How much did this naan cost them to make that they can not make a customer happy?!? Totally bogus. Never ever seen customer service like this before. Now everyone who wants to read a review on restaurant knows about this. Was it worth it?

Went there for unlimited dosa night. It was good food, but since it is almost buffet-like, the wait for your order can take a little while. But overall, good food and you get your money’s worth. Enjoyed the dinner and will be going back.

Best indian buffet in chicago area, you get unlimited dosaa too, that are made to order. Lot of north indian food too. Service is also good and food is always hot and tasty. Makes you eat more and more. Go to place for lunch buffets.

My wife and I went for Dosa night and I was very impressed by this restaurant. We had never had Dosa before and enjoyed the variety of flavors in each one we tried. The servers were attentive and our waitress was very polite and helped us decide what to try based on our preferences. She really seemed to take interest in our impressions of each individually made«Dosa». The atmosphere was nice and we arrived early on a Thursday evening(Thursday’s are Dosa Nights) so the crowd was very light, although by the time we left several more parties were arriving. Almost all of the customers were Indian, which I consider a good sign in an Indian restaurant. We will return soon for their weekend buffet and I may have to bump my rating to 5 stars after trying more of their menu. I highly recommend Atithi for a Taste of India!

Went on a Friday late afternoon. Was greeted with the waitress who was very nice and courteous. We decided to try their buffet. Was pleasantly surprised to find Pani Puris on the buffet — having tried a few Indian buffets in LA this was new for me. They offer Dosas in buffet too which they make fresh — Mysore dosa which was good, Capsicum Dosa was too oily. Zeera rice was swimming in oil. The egg curry looked like it was sitting there for quite a while — not at all appetizing. I liked the Chicken Chettinadu, Sambhar, Daal Makhani and their Dry Chicken option not quite sure what it was called though.

We decided to go for brunch Saturday morning craving dosa and they were providing buffet with unlimited dosa option. Though I wish I had more options for the kinds of dosa included in the buffet, they were more than enough by the end of it. The ambiance is better than most south Indian places and the service is great. This place is also not zabiha, but the people were honest enough to tell you that. I personally went for more of a vegetarian experience and liked it.

Dosa night is awesome. I love mutton dosa here. Only thing i don’t like here is coconut chutney they serve. So i suggests them to improve the quality of chutney they serve that makes big difference.

From the first week of it’s revamp from Sankalp to Atithi, this place has gone completely downhill. I was so ashamed of suggesting this place while catching up for lunch with a friend. We were there last Saturday for lunch buffet. From pani puri to dahi-wada everything lacked flavor. wadas were raw on the inside, pani puri was bland, coconut chutney was runny. Only saving grace in the entire buffet was jalfrezi curry. For dessert they had payassam(spelling?) that had o vermicelli in it at all, Gajar halwa was a disgrace. Dosas were average too! I was so disappointed with the food that I kept apologizing to my friend who had come down from Chicago to meet us over lunch. THEYUSEDTOBEGOOD! Our server was this girl who has been there for last one year or so, ever since I started going there. She got us an additional item(which we did not order) for the second time but took it away when we asked. But she never returned to pick up used/dirty plates. I kept getting up to ask her for service(four times). I even had to go up to their bar where she was busy speaking with another server throughout our lunch to order NAAN’s. I mean I understand it’s buffet and we help ourselves, but someone HASTOFILLWATERINOURGLASSES, ask us if NEED something, bring BREAD? or at least ask if we need something? When I asked for feedback form, I was not asked if something went wrong with lunch or service but rudely told to write it on back of our receipt! First time in my life I left a restaurant this furious. WILLNEVERRETURN unless someone from Atithi takes responsibility!

We really enjoyed the Cheesy Spring dosa, light and crunchy with fresh raw vegetables. The recommended Rogan Josh, lamb cooked spicy in Kashmiri spices curry was extremely thick, like too thick. Lamb was also WAY overcooked and pretty scarce. Kind of like they decided to fry those poor little lamb pieces before they dumped them into that too thick dark brown curry so they could overcook and shrink some more. Skip the lamb, wait skip THAT dark brown curry too, kind of a burnt tomato paste with thickeners, If it was going to have to be THAT thick it could at least be spicier. We squeezed some lemon on that dark goo and it started to move a little, found our first piece of lamb. WAY overpriced at $ 17 with maybe 10 pieces of thumbnail size dried out lamb. Ick, and I like curry a lot, I had no idea it could be that bad. Mango lassi was perfect not too sweet and the service very attentive while we asked poor Cush a LOT of questions about the menu and ingredients. We particularly enjoyed the small table spice sauces, coconut, spicy garlic and particularly the Malaga Podi, «gunpowder», a blend of lentils and mystery ingredients including nice heat and surprise occasional crunch. Addicting, and I’m hoping that was sesame oil. Use a lot at your risk with the expected consequences. I also enjoyed the sliced red onions, jalapeño and lemon slice side. I agree that it seems a little pricey, but also not something we are going to go out and eat very often, but hardly in the special occasion price tag either. $ 30 for a $ 11 dosa and a $ 17 overpriced lamb curry with nice service. I would make sure I bring my own water next time, because those little 5 pound tiny goblets don’t even wet my whistle. I also see an old tip here from another Unilocaler saying that they will give a 5% discount for cash and I will try that next time. Modern sparsely decorated, open and spacious. We skip the buffets for ala carte and generally prefer that over too much average steam table buffet food. Worth a try. We would probably just order a couple dosas next time, and hope for some small leftovers for an appetizer. AVOID the Orange Sunshine man and the dark brown curries.

Love the family dosa, but over priced. I think I had the malabar poratta and chicken masala.

It was a long and tiring day and me and my friends wanted to have some delicious south Indian food. Except for the Chettinad idlis none of the items we ordered were tasty! We left most of the dishes half eaten. The veg seekh kabab tasted as though it was cooked long before and was warmed up in the tandoor again before it was served. The dal and the garlic naan had more garlic than needed. The podi dosa had too much podi which did not taste good at all. All in all the place was definitely not the kind where I wanted to eat. And to top it all the place is extremely expensive. Come here only if this is your last resort!!!

This is a restaurant wherein the food is really tasty but the quantities are largely insufficient for the buffet. There is a decent variety of food but due to the poor service, the overall experience of eating is compromised. Long waiting hours during the buffet is inconvenient.

This is the old Sankalp just under new management. The place is the same but the service is a slight notch better than before. They still give you medieval cups for water so you constantly have to ask for water between dishes. We ordered a potato dosa and chicken dosa. The waiter took one look at me and my husband and told us it was«too spicy» for us. I guess because I’m not Indian and he doesn’t look Indian. Anyway-we ordered the chicken dosa and it was fine. Spicy enough as a flavor but not too spicy that you couldn’t feel your tongue. The dosas are a decent size but after a few bites you will want to try something new so I suggest coming here in a group. For dessert, we had the sizzling brownie. It’s a brownie served on a hot plate with vanilla ice cream. Once it arrives at your table, they pour chocolate syrup and it starts sizzling(hence the name) so it’s the perfect mix of chocolate and vanilla as well as hot and cold. I probably won’t be back unless I have a group of 4+ people because of the portions. But it was good to try again under the new ownership.

Went here for lunch on Friday. It was buffet with may be few more people but service was still horrible. It was absolutely the worst experience. It took them 30 minutes for server to bring 4 small pieces of Nan(bread)!!! Are people suppose to drink the curry? We got warm water in tiny little cups. the Kid either did not care or did not understand the meaning of ice water. it was buffet but there was no dessert. This is second or third Indian restaurant at this location soon it this will also either close or change name. all in all i say it was authentic indian experience. we did not dare try bathroom!!! if you are from schaumburg area there are other better options!

I created a Unilocal account to write this review. This should show how disappointed and frustrated I was with the service. I would give them negative stars if Unilocal let me. In short, pathetic service. The sever clearly was not interested is serving anyone. He probably was just looking to do his time, pick up his paycheck and leave. In spite of having 3 free tables, they took 10 minutes to seat us, another 7−8mins to take our order. Then the server advised us not to order what we wanted as it would take 30 mins to prepare. This made us order something that can be made quickly. However, 40 minutes after we placed the order, there was no sign of any food coming to our table. When we inquired, after looking at certain other tables being served(only to overhear them complain that they have been there for an hour), the server had no interest in serving us any food. When we complained again, the manager said they are are busy, although I could see the servers strolling around the place like zombies. Finally, we couldn’t wait any longer and went to the manager who showed no remorse. The server was clearly making some excuses but was not even slightly apologetic. We finally walked out after wasting over an hour there. Guess they changed their name from Sankalp to Atithi with a change of management. I won’t be surprised if they did that coz they just need to rebrand themselves. Don’t waste your time. Especially if you are hungry.
