My first real job as a teenager was actually hansens piggly wiggly back in the day when Saukville first got their store. Piggly Wiggly ended up changing hands over the years and bought out the pick n save store when they left town. Their biggest competition is clearly the Super Walmart. Piggly Wiggly truly has better quality meats and produce then it’s counterpart across the street now. I did prefer its old location in proximity to both Walgreens and Walmart. It’s now located across the busy hwy 33 on a goofy round about. The store is going through growing pains as it takes shape in its new space. Some of the food placement is strange but they do have some great sales. If you had to pick between Walmart or Piggly Wiggly I would suggest shopping the Pig. It’s a local chain and they treat their employees well. I have had good customer service at this store but I do miss the self check outs that were taken out with the pick n save move. It’s a plus that they have baggers.

I prefer piggly wiggly and always found the service there decent but today neither Melissa the cashier or the girl bagging said a word to me. She never told me my total. I didn’t even know she could speak until I said it’s saying waiting on cashier on the credit card machine. She said it went through as she handed me my receipt. Wow they got a bigger store but their friendly service has not been the same. I’m not asking much. Is it to much to say hello to your customers, tell them their total and say thank you or have a nice day? The girl bagging never said hello but asked if she could put all in one bag I said as long as it doesn’t rip. She said I will double bag it. She also said have a good day when she handed me the bag. Maybe Melissa should bag for her so the more cheerful one(even though she didn’t say hello) would be the first person you interact with. Where did the great customer service go? This is happening to often now days!

The Pig For some reason I kind of fancy PW’s. Probably because any grocery store other than the Pick is better. But, I like The Pig as it is Wisconsin pride and there is one by my grandfather’s house I grew up stopping at. I don’t love this location. The bagger looked over each item I purchased and even talked about one with the cashier. Yes, German wasabi mayo is pretty great and noteworthy. I was clearly not a regular and thus given the cold shoulder, unlike those in front of me.
