a hidden gem in Saugus one of the best cappuccino’s I have had in a long time and homemade pastry. Panini & pizza too. Beer and wine available. Free entertainment on weekends.

Clean authentic Italian café. Worth the visit and keeps late hours! Plenty of parking and a good cappuccino!

We went for gelato and wasn’t impressed with the imported dessert. The pistachio was flavorer only, no nuts. Not a fan and expensive. They did sell chocolate Kinder bars!

Finding an authentic Cappucino is becoming quiet a challenge. I passed Caffe DiCalabria hundreds of times, until a friend brought me in on a Saturday night. Tucked away in a small strip mall on RT. 1 is where I found my new place for not only Cappucino, but great sandwiches during the day time.

It’s one of those hole in the wall places we all look for. The canolis alone are a reason to go, they also have great gelato, and a mean cappuccino. The place is small, quiet, and a great place to study. The only uncomfortable aspect of the place is that it’s pretty vacant, the only other people that are always there are a small group of Italian older gentlemen playing cards or board games; and the only person waiting on you is a sweet older Italian woman that doesn’t speak English very well and you just want her to get off her feet instead of help you lol. It is really authentic, all the greatness of going to the North End but closer to home. It is a little pricey but worth it.

A group of us went to the caffe looking for a place to have a capuccino or a drink and some dessert and conversation after dinner. We had a combination of Coffee, Cappucino, Expresso, Iced Mocha, Sambucca etc and desserts — Cannolli, Gelato etc. All were very good. This place was a very nice surprise. A bit of the North End in Saugus!

My husband and I found this place since our other go to Italian café in Medford was sold to non Italians. This place is so clean and the owners, a married Italian couple, are so nice. The tv is always on an Italian channel. Food, such as sandwiches and paninis are available as well as cakes, cannolis and cookies. Their cappuccinos are great and they also sell beer and liquor. I personally love having a shot of sambuca in my coffee!

Every time I visit Caffe di Calabria, I’m warmed with a huge smile from the main proprietor — an older Italian woman who speaks broken English. I’ve been going there maybe once every six months for. six years or so, and she managed to remember my face. Alright — if you can get over the fact that you will get stared at by the old Italian men playing cards at one table, and their wives gossiping in Italian at an adjacent table, you are in for a serious treat. The coffee is amazing. The Italian drinks available are delicious. Her cannoli is homemade and the best tasting cannoli I’ve EVER had by far. Finally, the main reason why I go is the tiramisu in a cup. If I was trapped on a desert island and I could only have one dessert for the rest of my life, it would be that tiramisu. It is GODLY. The fact that someone else rated the desserts as only«good» shocks me. They must have no taste. I’ve tried the other desserts and they’re amazing as well. In short — it’s a hole-in-the-wall joint, but it’s PERFECT for a calm night out, or a great place to impress someone with your dessert knowledge on a first date.

It livens up at night but during the day is a really quiet place for a nice espresso. The place has nothing special in terms of décor or people. The desserts and the drinks are good and the athmosphere is nice and chatty at night. If you live around Saugus go give it a try on a hot night after dinner.
