Some like it HOT! I can’t believe that I am the only one. The Hungry Spot Café is small and staffed with friendly people looking to get you served and quickly on your way. Some of their customers take advantage of the ability to pre-order over the phone or by fax so they can simply walk in, pay for their food, and carry their bag out. The HSC announces their daily specials on their Facebook page and that is exactly what encouraged me to stop in. «Hot Turkey Sandwich– Roasted turkey breast served open-faced on a piece of Rockhill sourdough, a side of french fries baked perfectly crispy, smothered in our homemade turkey gravy. Just $ 8.25» sounded like just what I needed to carry me through the rest of the day. Since I had no office or other location to take my lunch back to I said I’d be eating it there. There is a small chest-high counter with about four small metal stools that are available to eat at inside the café, but they seem more appropriate for having a sandwich, a bagel, or maybe even just a cup of their homemade soup. There is also an area through another set of doors, just outside the entrance to the café, leading to the lobby of this building where four booths have been set up and you can sit and eat your meal there. That seemed like the most comfortable place to enjoy my sandwich. I also ordered a cup of coffee($ 1.65/$ 1.85) since they had a nice selection to choose from. I poured myself the French Roast and was quite pleased with its robust flavor. My hot turkey sandwich and fries experience was less pleasing. My meal was served to me in one of those clear plastic clamshell containers. As I sat into one of the booths I sunk so low the table was almost up to my neck. I opened the clamshell and first tasted one of the crinkle-cut fries, the same kind my Mom would hand cut and make for us as kids. It was not hot, it seemed like it was only warmed from the hot turkey and gravy, and it was more than crispy — it was actually quite hard on the outside. The inside was a bit softer, but not soft like a freshly baked or fried French fry. I know, I’ll soak one in the gravy. I grabbed my plastic fork, pushed it into the fry, oomph! It didn’t go in! I pushed again, harder — it still didn’t go in. I pushed the fry into some gravy and tried soaking it. That helped a little, but when I tasted it, I realized the gravy was not hot. It was only warm. I then picked up my plastic knife and attacked the sandwich. The plastic utensils worked about as well as you would have expected, so no surprises there. The turkey was a good portion, piled on the slice of Rock Hill sourdough. Rock Hill Bakehouse makes excellent breads and there was no way they were going to change my opinion of it with this sandwich. To give you an idea of how«not hot» the gravy was, as I sliced through the thicker piles of turkey, the turkey closest to the bread was still cool. They had obviously expected the gravy to heat the turkey. But the gravy wasn’t hot. The turkey actually was very good, and the gravy was even tasty. But back to the fries for a second, there were a couple of them that were soooo crisp they were like really thick potato chips and I wouldn’t have been surprised if the couple eating two booths away from me heard me crunching on them. It sure seemed like there were enough patrons stopping in and carrying out orders that my experience might have been the exception. Maybe they all know enough to not order anything hot. I have to wonder about that homemade soup though…

This place is a really tiny, hole in the wall kind of place but boy is it delicious. Food was cheap yet fresh and very filling. I highly recommend the Turkey Club Wrap. Fantastic for a quick lunch but make sure to look at the hours! They are only open till 3:00PM and don’t open on weekends. I highly recommend this place.

Cool rainy day and looking for a great spot to grab some nice hot soup & a salad. Ordered the Ginger Beef soup and a Cobb salad with their homemade blue cheese. The soup was outstanding. I would go back to try their other soup offerings. Loved it. Salad was great as well. Very fresh and the homemade Blue Cheese dressing was terrific Staff was very friendly, and my order did not take long at all. Highly recommend.

Hungry Spock is where pointy-eared guys named Leonard Nimoy would come and eat, rest in peace. However he wouldn’t have come here. Mark me down for, I don’t know what the fuss is all about. Having read some rave reviews, I stopped in for this world-famous or rather Saratoga-famous brekky, and it was poor, bland, average, boring, nondescript, tasteless, cookie cutter. I think it may even have been microwaved. I won’t say it was as bad as 7 – 11 but Burger King croissants could give it a run for its money. So quite a disappointment, then. I didn’t love the service either… it was a bit hoity-toity if that’s how you spell it, and overpriced, like much of Saratoga. I wouldn’t come back, unless a cute guy came in here and I followed him in(tosses hair).

Haven’t been here in years not really sure why. Menu is very basic and fairly simple but I appreciate that. Because the atmosphere is the same and it’s inviting, especially with friendly service. I wasn’t overly hungry so went with just a cup of the pork green chili and was very happy. It was fantastic. My sole complaint is the dining area is too quiet because I could hear noisy eaters echoing while eat. Certainly nothing to prevent me from coming back though.

The Rotisserie Roasted Turkey was delicious with the garlic mayo! They gave me a few options to my sandwich and having it with that on a Kaiser roll totally hit the spot. The macaroni salad was delicious and just the right temperature. The price was a tad high for the amount of food but it wasn’t too bad. Nice spot!

This was another Unilocal assisted stop on our x-country trip. If you want original and delicious sandwiches this is the place to go. The owner and staff are friendly and helpful. They even got my kids to try(and love) pesto-mayo.

It was too cold to walk to the chain coffee shop when I walked into this place. Friendly service is an understatement. I was just getting yogurt and coffee but the smell of fresh muffins convinced me to try one. They offered to warm it up. Not in a microwave but over the top of a toaster. Got back to my hotel and completely enjoyed the great tasting and perfectly heated muffin.

Standard egg ham and cheese. Not much of a breakfast selection. Got the fruit salad too, which was yummy and fresh but expensive for the size(but I suppose most fruit salad is). Nice guy who served me.

I went there for the first time today on my lunch break and YUM! Everything is delicious and the prices are great. The employees were nice and even with a huge line everything moved fast. They could benefit from a larger place with year round seating, but it is great to get and go. I made sure to grab a menu so I can just call in my order next week. Yum yum yum

I stopped in yesterday and ordered the chicken salad sandwich and was so impressed that I came back for lunch today and also ordered to go for a friend of mine. The food is awesome, and the employees are very friendly. The place is perfect for carry-out, but they need a larger place with appropriate seating… you have to sit down a hallway in an office building like setting, and the outlet under the booth did not work, and my computer died on me. I was really hoping to get some work done while I was eating… but the incredible food, and service made up for this disappointment.

Still just as good, HOWEVER, note that as discussed previously(see earlier reviews), they can get pretty slow in the lunch rush as they are a small shop. Plan ahead by calling ahead or don’t be in a rush.

So, I told Steve, the owner about Unilocal and about my complaints. He says they do, in fact, have avocado, and they’re happy to put it on whatever I wish. They even serve a sandwich with avo. My mistake! About the coffee: He says he’s willing to make a pot extra strong for me anytime I want!
