It doesn’t have to be Thursday to throwback in time! This place is straight out of the ’50’s – without 50’s price. $ 7 plus for a milkshake… but it’s a REAL milkshake with milk and ice cream and real whipped cream – not a chemical concoction that others must legally call a «shake» not«milkshake.» Hob Nob serves the real deal! Their hot dogs are large and have a smokey taste. Definitely not a Chicago dog, but one order will hold you past dinner time. Chili dog is more than 2 handsful! Hamburgers are good and greasy, just the way I like ‘em. Let the juice slide down your fingers! Yummy fries. And the staff is soooo nice and friendly. Your tab is delivered on a clothes pin so it doesn’t fly away in the open air. This is a must-do for SRQ! Burp!

This little spot is exactly what you would expect out of a hometown diner. Essentially it is an open wall restaurant with insulated vinyl flaps and large space heaters in the ceiling to keep you warm. Believe me, it was cold outside but extremely warm and comfortable inside. Everything was super clean, from the countertops to the floors. I was on the road so I decided for a hotdog to go. «Boiled or grilled» the server asks… Grilled and topped with kraut, sautéed onions and mustard please. I should have stopped there but of course I needed fries and a sweet tea. Everything was ready in a jiffy and I was on way. I opened my bag in my car and WOW that hotdog is huge! They didn’t skimp on the toppings one bit. The fries were perfectly crispy but there was no way I was eating all of that. Plenty to take home. Huge portions, nice atmosphere and staff, I would definitely return.

No way is this the«best burger» around ! McDonald burgers are better and better priced. The location is convenient but the building is run down and shitty. Only up side’s are that The root beer floats and Milk shakes, they are so good and the server never let the root beer get past the half way point.

Growing up in Sarasota, my dad would always come here yet I wanted Wendy’s. I went there for the classic bacon cheeseburger and fell absolutely in love Great customer service and the curbside was even better! #BurgerLegends

Wonderful place from another era. I really enjoyed my milkshake, onion rings and burger. Nothing spectacular, just good honest food. The place itself is a classic – entirely outside and full of regulars. I think this only works in sunny places like Florida!

This is a great place to get a grilled burger. The«Hob Nob» is there signature burger but I not sure what made it the house burger but it was still very good. Everything had a fresh flavor and there is nothing like a well seasoned griddle to impart a great flavor. Fries could have cooked a little crispier for my taste. Debbie’s onion rings had a nice flavor and they had tiger sauce for dipping. Service was very good and the food came out really quick. Really cool laid back place. The outdoor seating is relaxing.

Outdoor seating under cover at picnic tables or at the 50s style eat bar but no matter where you sit this unique very old school grille is a must see and eat place. We’ve been eating here since the early 80s and we get cravings for the grilled chilli dog. It’s big chilli is a tasty helping add mustard onions a side of fries and root beer(most prefer a beer) and it’s the perfect florida stop. never had a bad waitress and food delivery is usually fast. Didn’t give 5* b/c it has gone downhill a bit in 30 years but we’ll still drive the 80 miles to this nostalgic delight of florida past

I have never done a review before, but this place makes me want to tell everyone I know about them! I have been to a lot of restaurants but I’ve never had an experience like this. The waitresses were fast, friendly, and efficient. The management helped take care of the customers. My food came out fast and piping hot. They got a table of 30 people while I was there. The staff was able to take all their orders, get their beverages and their food to them in under 15 minutes … all while helping the rest of the customers with no problems. This place runs like a well-oiled machine!!! Plus the food was good. I couldn’t help but tip them 200% and leave with a smile on my face that lasted all night.

We like this place. We’ve been many times and I always get a cheeseburger and onion rings. The onion rings are served with a dipping sauce that is so yummy! I can’t say anything about other food items since I’ve never ordered them but we love the burgers. The waitresses are always very nice and we’ve always gotten good service. Its got a dive atmosphere and its outdoors only.

Hob Nob has my favorite cookies & cream milkshake in town and their burgers are great! I love coming here for lunch. Being right on 301 can sometimes be a bit loud, but it’s a drive-in, so you have to expect a bit of noise.

Fast, clean, decent burgers and fries. Nothing special but always delicious and the service is always excellent. The women that work there hustle to keep the customers happy and they get you in and out efficiently too. Highly recommended for a simple meal.

Such a fun place to eat, a Sarasota tradition since 1957! Our waitress, Denee was incredible! I asked her for a very rich chocolate shake, she made sure I got chocolate ice cream, chocolate sauce, with delicious whip cream, it is the best shake in Sarasota. Wonderful burgers & onion rings! Denee was one of the most friendly & upbeat waitress I’ve seen here in a long time. Go Hobnob!

Alert, vegetarians! They do have a veggie burger, it’s just not on the menu :) I’m happy to report, it’s good! The patty is grain and vegetable based so no questionable bland soy to worry about. The fries are crinkle cut and the onion rings were a good balance of crispy and soft. In fact, I’d order onion rings over fries next time. The view isn’t great but it’s a cute place for a quick dinner. Three baskets came to under $ 40 with drinks!

The food wasn’t bad. It wasn’t anything spectacular but certainly satisfying. What nets 4 stars instead of 3 was the service and, specifically, the server. I believe her name was Christa. She was a hustler. She wasted no time, provided incredible service and was more accommodating than most waitstaff I have ever met. I would go back just to have her wait on me. The food was very reasonably priced. My girlfriend and I spent less than $ 20, combined, for lunch. Between the reasonable pricing and great service, we left an additional $ 20 for Christa.

If you like dives, you may like Hob Nob. But the food isn’t that great, nor is the service. Great dive atmosphere: open to the weather, food served in wax paper and red plastic baskets, selection of lousy beers plus a couple of better beers, great looking milk shakes. Known for burgers. I had the fried/battered cod sandwich: basic, plain, heavy on the batter. Tasty but nothing special. Crinkly fries(must order as a side dish. C’mon, really?) that obviously come from a freeze pac and dumped into the fryer. Nothing special, generic. Is this supposed to be part of the charm? Ate here on a Tuesday around 1 – 2PM. We sat at the counter and it still took about 15 minutes for our order to arrive, and the place was not packed. I think I would explore other options before returning here.

I’ve lived here since 1985 and have been to the HobNob many times. I work nearby. Service is always very friendly, although can be slow on a busy day, which isn’t a problem. The food has never, ever been better than average here since the most recent owner took over. That being said, it’s just a cool place to grab a nostalgic bite, people watch and relax. No more, no less. A step above fast food is accurate. No possible way is this the«best burger» around by any means as they claim. Back in the day, it was much better. Beef flavor is almost nonexistent these days. The Kraut Dog, which is deep fried, is about the same, bland dog. It’s been pretty average food there for many years now, which is too bad.

Sarasota staple… I was told Hob Nob has been open since the 50’s. That alone peeked my interest. I’ve rode past here a few times wondering if it was worth the stop. Today I decided to take a chance and it was worth it. The aroma was tempting as I pulled into the parking lot. Cool, retro outdoor diner! Our server was extremely friendly and shared with us that every Tuesday you can get a burger, fry, & soda for $ 9. I requested grilled onions on my burger & it was a really good cheeseburger BUT the french fries were a different story(they were basic frozen crinkles), & my coca-cola was great(LOL). Beware that there tap water tastes weird so «forget about it»! I only gave 3-stars because although it was good it wasn’t worth $ 9. By the way, the restroom is location in a detached building but it was clean. Worth a try if your in the area.

Why three stars? Because it is an old-school burger joint with tasty food in a convenient location. The Hob Nob is a Sarasota tradition, which gives it an element of charm. Located right on US301 and 17th Street, it’s a great place to pop into for a quick bite. The atmosphere is very casual and diner-esque, with a retro vibe that will leave one looking around for the T-Birds and Pink Ladies. While they are known for their burgers, the real draws for me are the milkshakes. They are thick, creamy, and perfect to assuage a hot Sarasota day.

Just moved to the area and I noticed to black and white tiled facility as I drove down the street. great food reminds me of the places in California that had girls on skates. This place does not, but the food is good and the shakes are great! I have to down grade my review after my last visit. The chili cheese fry was horrible. The chili tastes as though it came from a can. Don’ t waste your money. The shakes and sandwiches were still wonderful. We spent $ 40 on 3 sandwiches, a huge chili cheese fry and 3 drinks.
