This place is essentially the hell mouth. Poorly stocked, filthy, and full of crazies. The staff are nasty and unhelpful. The pharmacist had the nerve to yell at me while trying pick up my birth control. Walk the mile to the one at 23rd if you really want to shop at a Walgreens.

Neil and Willie in the photo department get a shout out. Someone messed up my wood print order, but they went above and beyond to correct their mistake during a really busy time. It’s good to see people who care about customer experience.

Ever wondered what it’d be like to stand for 20 minutes in a line full of crackheads every time you needed to refill a prescription?

I’d give minus stars if I could. Waited waited waited for checkout clerk. One arrived, said she was at lunch and walked away. I left. Horrible store. Never go back

An lady employee there by the name of Ocar was extremely rude, she treated me like I was below her or as if I was some child. She was at the cosmetics section and I asked her if her if her register was open and she said rudely responded with«yes but customers come first », I don’t know what she thought I was but I am pretty sure I was a customer. Walgreens needs to make sure their employees know what it is to have good customer service. Just because their store is in a bad area does not mean everyone who walks into the store is bad.

I was here for fifteen minutes and I witnessed the craziest things ever. As I was walking in, a person was dashing out the door with a giant backpack filled with what could only be Walgreens merchandise which he did not pay for. The door alarms beeped, but the cashiers just ignored it. They did not even look towards the door. I decided to do some investigating because I was bored. He came out from the shampoo isle. I noticed that a whole section of shampoos were gone. They were the most expensive ones too($ 25-$ 32 each). There were no other areas that were completely empty except that one. I can only imagine how he will try to re-sell them on the street. *Shampoos here! Shampoos! Get your stolen Walgreen shampoos! Half off* As I was waiting in line to purchase my items, the lady in front of me was going to buy a pack of Nerds. When she saw the total on the screen, she flipped out. She said, «What you mean $ 1.08? It said 88 cents!“The cashier informed her that that was the price if you had a Walgreens card and asked her if she wanted to sign up. She replied, «Not another fucking card! I have too many cards.» This Walgreens attracts all the crazies. I won’t be back. Cashier seemed tired and lazy.

This place is terrible, especially the time per transaction. How long does it take to pay for 3 items? At least 3 minutes, so annoying. Avoid this Walgreens if possible. The fact it’s on 16th and mission doesn’t help…

I live almost equidistant between the Walgreens on 23rd and this one. Given the choice, I will choose this one over the 23rd St. location any day, even with all of the inherent insanity of the 16th St. location. It’s merely an extra block of effort, but the staff(at least in the makeup section) is better and far friendlier in spite of all the crap you KNOW they must be dealing with on a daily basis, and the makeup section is bizarrely above average considering the location. That weird Milani blush you heard about that no other drugstore seems to carry? This place may have it(actually, it does, and I had to visit four or five other Walgreens/CVS locations, including the fancypants posh Walgreens on Powell St., before I finally found it). And lots of other cult drugstore-priced beauty products. They also recently started carrying E.L.F. products, a rarity for Walgreens, at least for now. In sum, makeup selection is thoughtful and generally well-stocked. Staff are encouraging about new products you may be hesitant about and remind you that you can always return anything you’re not happy with. For comparison, 23rd St. location is a PITA and frankly hostile about returns, even if you rarely(like, once a year) return stuff. No opinion about the rest of the store.

Go here if you want the door closed in your face after walking for blocks to get something for your sick wife. They have to close early because of how much crime they have in their front door. It is honestly an absolute mess of homeless folks and crime in their front door step to such a point that they barely have an entrance as bars cover the doors. Don’t waste your time with this crappy, crappy establishment.

Hands down the worst pharmacy ever. If you can spare yourself don’t go here no matter the convenience. The line is always long, I’ve been given the wrong meds before in my prescription and been charged co-pays when I wasn’t supposed to…

This is in regards to the pharmacy here. So my company recently changed their health insurance, so I assumed that my prescription card was obsolete. I still tried my old one, but it was rejected, and I was like okay. I called my insurance provider a few days later to see about getting a new prescription card, but it turns out that the card hadn’t changed at all. I called this Walgreens back and it turns out that the tech typo’ed my insurance ID. So now my choice is to be super inconvenienced with respect to losing my time or losing my money due to their incompetence. In 2015, they for some reason can’t do that change over the phone. In person only, within 7 days, which I generally don’t have time for because goddamn, I’m busy(a further testament to my taking the time to write this rant up). I mean, I’m grateful that they didn’t give me rat poison instead of what I actually asked for, so there’s that silver lining at least. Also, I have to say that even as far as Walgreens go, this was a dingy as hell store. Bust out a mop, damn.

Worst Walgreens ever. I’ve been trying to get my prescription from here for 2 weeks and it’s never in stock. Hilarious. Even when it’s in stock and I come in to pick it up, it takes up to 20 min to finally get it. Who has time for that?

This Walgreen’s is so dirty and terrible but so necessary. It’s at 16th and Mission so you often get harassed on your way in and out, so brace yourself for that. And the pharmacy always has a long line and some people working there are pretty incompetent. But it’s the only«convenience store» in this area, so unless you want to Amazon /Google Shopping Express everything, you will probably be coming here for all your toothpaste /contact solution /junk food needs if you live nearby.

This pharmacy is the worst. The majority of the times I come here I have to wait 20 – 30 mins in line to drop off my prescription, 1 – 4 hour wait, and then 30 minutes to wait in line to PICKUP my scripts. The worst part is they often don’t have the my prescriptions, nor can I call to see if they are available. I can only find out if I wait for 30 mins, they scramble to find out what I’m talking about. And now I just went back after 4 hours and they still haven’t filled my scripts. The pharmacist was apologetic and I know this area has quite the crowd, but the location convenience has certainly been outweighed by the ridiculousness. Hasta la bye bye Bebe.

Consistently dirty and long lines. Given its proximity to the BART station, I’m not at all surprised at people who get yelled at by homeless people on your way in. Frankly, there are way better Walgreens stores in the city, the selection here is hit or miss, but, I live a block away, so I’ll still be coming back!

Just waited 20 mins on hold trying to find out if I can get a passport photo here. After a while I just found a non-chain store that is on my way to work and so I can give them my money instead of this evil-ass store. I knew that the people who worked there were all borderline vegetables but I had no idea that they were too stupid to even answer a phone with a blinky light on it. Hope this store goes out of business soon… It is really like shopping in hell.

Holy crap this place is terrible. There might be two people who work here that are tolerable, the others… I can’t believe they have jobs let alone go outside without supervision. This place is SO trashy and gross. I get that the location sucks but you’d think they’d make up for it with good service. I guarantee that if you go here you will spend more time waiting in line than you will shopping.

I have an uncommon love for Walgreens. Or maybe I am just filled with hatred for Rite Aid, who knows? The pharmacy is competent, they got a parking lot(this is only of concern to my dad, I think), the photo center’s got it together, the stock is varied and the employees are all deserving of their own medals for what they have to deal with. Of course it’s bat crap crazy in there. It’s 16th and Mission and I’d have it no other way.

Today I became the duchess of this Walgreens, and it made me realize what a truly terrifying life I lead. Don’t get me wrong, there are a lot of great things about this Walgreens(and living next to it): 1) pints of ben and jerry’s for those bad days 2) cheap candy to sneak into movie theatres downtown 3) 2 dollar bamboo plants by the cash register 4) friendly pharmacists who refill orders pretty quickly 5) clipper cards right by a BART station But there are definitely downsides: 1) I have literally seen mice running around the floor of the store. Like, during the daytime. More than once. And not in a cute Fivel goes west kinda way. 2) Though the guy in the wheelchair out front is pretty consistently harmless, the rest of the crowd outside is hit or miss. There are times when you are being sung hymns in spanish as you walk in, and other times expletives are being yelled in your face for no reason. My general advice is to just not make eye contact for this half block if you don’t want any excitement 3) While the crowd is inconsistent, the smell sure isn’t. Hold your breath or have particles of BO and piss in your nose. 4) the lines in the store are generally pretty long, and the cashiers are pretty slow. PROTIP: always check to see if the cosmetics counter has staff there. They will check you out and the line is usually non existent. So if you live here, fine, use it. You’re already used to the antics of this corner. If you’re driving around trying to find a walgreens, go ahead and go to the one closer to 24th and Mission(corner of 22nd? 23rd? somewhere in there). Bigger selection and fewer furry friends. Now let me go re-evaluate my own life choices.
