One of the worse pharmacy service ever! The only advantage is that is located in the same building as my primary doctor very convenient too bad the service is no good!

I would have loved to have found an independent pharmacist in my city, one that is not a huge corporation. This is NOT it. I went to fill a prescription last night, and waited while they worked on it. No big deal. 15 – 20 minutes later, they called my name and told me their system went down and that they could not verify my insurance, so they couldn’t fill my prescription. Okay. So they gave me the paper prescription back to head to a bigger pharmacy. On, second thought, I headed back in asking if they could just call my insurance to verify. No, I was told, they didn’t do that.
So… I head to Walgreens for my local dose of corporately filled prescriptions when I get this shitty news, my insurance has already been billed.
I still understand. System failure. I’ll call Los Portales in the morning.
What is inexcusable is the response from ALL THREE people I spoke with at Los Portales which is that they would not help me. They would not call my insurance or call Walgreens or do anything to help me at all. This is one of the worst cases of customer service I’ve ever encountered.
Avoid Los Portales Pharmacy like the plague, especially when you feel like you’ve come down with the plague.

This VERY little pharmacy in the lobby of what appears to be a small medical building in the heart of the Mission District is a real gem. Don’t think Walgreen’s or CVS, this is all about prescription medications not over the counter stuff. The best pharmacist works here, Mickey. I have around 14 medications that need to be filled each month and Mickey and his staff take extra special care to get the refill prescriptions direct from my doctor, and takes the time to make sure EVERYTHING is correct. I live in El Cerrito and commute there on BART just for my medications — they are that good. They can also mail them to me if I would like. I highly recommend Mickey and the team at Los Portales Pharmacy.
