I can say this is one of the best restaurants in SF and I have been to a lot of them. All the foods were delicious from the scallops, salmon rolls, shrimp wasabi noodles, to seafood risotto. I had taken 4 of my friends here and they were all so satisfied with the food and complimenting me for selecting the restaurant. And all the employees there were also great and nice. I gave them 4 stars because it could be a bit cleaner; nothing that I can point to, just in general. I’ll be definitely going back many times.

This place was a fantastic find. Our friends made reservations here for a friends night out. As we arrived, it was truly a place you can miss in the craziness of the North Beach area. It was quite small inside, and busy. So I am very happy our friends had made the reservations. Service was very prompt and attentive after we were seated. We had some appetizers to start including a sashimi plate with salmon, yellow tail and big eye tuna. The dipping wasabi, soy sauce had a punch but also had great flavor. The fish was very fresh and tasted fantastic. I believe we had a seared scallop appetizer as well that had a nice semi sweet sauce and the scallop was cooked to perfection. For dinner, I had the wasabi noodles with flat iron steak. The steak had a nice caramelized crust and was cooked perfect. The noodles were also cooked perfect with a good spice. The combination was absolutely great. At the table was also a shortrib special, sea bass as well as lamb chops. Everyone enjoyed their food greatly and if you can eat with your eyes, I am not surprised as everything looked fantastic. For dessert, I had a blueberry bread pudding a la mode. Again, it was not to disappoint. Great flavor in the bread pudding, not too mushy with a good texture and a fantastic topping with the ice cream I would definitely come back here but would make sure that I had reservations.

SF-ers sure seem spoiled in the Asian/Asian fusion department. Wanted to treat my friend to dinner on my last night in SF as a last hurrah. After a bit of research, this spot seemed like it would leave us both happy. Reservations would probably be useful as the space is small and was crowded(not surprising on a Saturday night). The décor was tasteful. The staff clearly take their food seriously and are proud of what they offer. To start, we ordered the sashimi sampler(a special at the time). The selection of fish was high quality and perfect for sharing. I went with the sea bass as my entrée. It was served a little blackened on the outside and tender on the inside. A ginger and garlic soy sauce accompanied the dish and complemented the fish boldly. This was served along side a saucy but delicious udon noodle preparation. I can’t recall the name of my beer, but it was a Japanese IPA that went down smoothly. The dessert offerings were straightforward. We decided on the apple pie with vanilla ice cream. No surprises, but delicious nonetheless. Overall, an excellent last meal in SF and deserving of the praise.

Took my parents here to eat lunch on a Saturday afternoon. I had made reservations for 1pm, but arrived a bit earlier and was able to get seated before that time. Tip** parking might be hard to find in that area, especially on a busy Saturday! My dad had actually started leaning towards eating somewhere else less crowded but we ended up just parking near Pier 39 and walking to the restaurant — fortunately it was a nice walk and didn’t feel long at all. We started with a few appetizers(small plates) and then each got an entrée. I have to say that everything was SODELICIOUS. Every dish tasted so fresh and the seafood was cooked so well. Deep Fried Salmon Roll: This reminds me of an egg roll, but with salmon in it. The salmon tasted super moist and I liked the crunch of the wrap. I however can’t handle spicy food and so the wasabi sauce was probably my least favorite part of the meal. Ahi Tuna Poke with Avocado and Crispy Rice(one of their specials of the day): So good! The ahi tuna tasted really fresh and accompanied by the avocado and crispy rice(which reminds me of rice crispy cereal) was perfect. I only wish there was more to go around. Me: Unagi Avocado Sandwich($ 14): I would definitely recommend getting this if you’re a fan of the dragon roll. I really enjoyed this dish, especially the bread. The way they seasoned and toasted it was super good. This dish also came with a side salad. Mom: Hokkaido Salad with seared scallop and shrimp: I had a taste of my mom’s scallop and it was … so good!(for lack of better words) Dad: Wasabi warm noodles with grilled king Salmon: I also tried some of the noodles and a bit of the salmon and thought this dish was rather tasty as well. Our plates were clean by the end of this meal. I would definitely recommend coming here and will have to come back for dinner one day!

One of my favorite places to eat in SF. The restaurant itself is very tiny and cozy. It’s a super popular dining spot so expecting a wait all the time is ideal but I promise it’ll be worth it. Either you come as early as possible or make reservations. I’ve tried about 90% of the menu and I loved everything. Seriously. I can’t say that about much places but I can say that with confidence for the house. The food is always consistent and delicious. Super flavorful and portions are perfect. Everything from the appetizers to the dessert is great. I especially love the picked cucumbers they give you to munch on while you wait for your meal to come. A bit sour but it’s so yummy! The staff is efficient and friendly. Always on top of their game and constantly checking on you. You really can’t go wrong with this spot. I’ve been here dozens of times and not once had a mediocre experience. Only downfall is parking. This area blows for parking and that’s the only thing that keeps me from coming to dine around here more often.

I think I found my new favorite restaurant! This place is right next to my office and might just be the find of the year ;). The restaurant is small but the food that comes out is so amazing. I could see it being such a fun place to bring a small group of close friends for dinner or even lunch. It’s quiet and quaint and the décor is not super posh or swanky which I appreciate because when the food comes out you’re just blown away by how a cute little kitchen could make such bomb food. All the small plates are delicious and feed about four people. Can’t wait to take more friends here. We got: salmon egg rolls, baked oysters, clam special, unagi sandwich, sea bass. To get again: Salmon egg rolls Clam special Saw a lot of people with a salad entire that looked good Also want to try garlic noodles

Listened to the reviews about making an appointment so I made one right at 530, when they open(Sunday). The ribeye steak was mouthwatering and delicious. It was so tender and the flavors were amazing. The sauce of the ribeye leaked onto the cauliflower which made it on of the most delicious cauliflower I ever had. The mashed potatoes were just average to me but it did seem to compliment the other stuff on the plate. The pork chops were seriously so good. That sauce though! It was delicious. I even dipped my steak into the pork chops sauce. I enjoyed coming here. Service was great and the atmosphere was tiny, yet doable. I would come again if I was in the area. Definitely recommend if you are in the area because this is something you don’t want to miss!

So much hype about this place and I only heard about it a few weeks ago from my roommate LOL. Came here on a Saturday night with a few friends around 5PM. We didn’t have a reservation, but since the restaurant had just opened there was plenty of seating and we were seated right away. The House is very very very very SMALL. Emphasis on small. There are only a few tables, and even though you’re sitting at different tables, it feels like you’re literally bumping elbows with the people sitting at the table next to you. It’s cozy though LOL. Décor and ambiance is very warm and cozy feeling, but still very chic. The staff is also very friendly and efficient! The service was excellent. The menu included a lot of different items and the waitress also recited the specials to us when we got there. I sort of always hate that — when they recite the specials instead of having it printed somewhere — because I ALWAYS forget what the specials were/what’s in it, etc. But the menu items were mid-level price range, ~$ 15-$ 35 depending on what you got. I ordered the grilled sea bass of course — I needed to see what the hype was about. And our table ordered the scallops from the specials menu to share. It’s $ 5 for 1 scallop, so we ordered 4. OKSO. SCALLOPS. SOFREAKINDELICIOUS. They were probably the best scallops I’ve ever had. Pretty large, but a good one bite sort of deal for an appetizer. They were tender and perfectly cooked and flavored. The presentation was beautiful as well. Worth the $ 5 per scallop for sure. The sea bass came with green beans and garlic noodles. Overall the dish was delicious. The fish was cooked so perfectly. Like I am in awe of how soft and buttery and delicious the sea bass was. It astounds me how someone can cook fish like that. Because I definitely can’t cook fish like that LOL. The garlic noodles were pretty good, but I love me some green beans. So they were a winner in my book. All in all, I thought the food here was pretty delicious. I’m not a HUGE fan of semi-upscale Asian fusion food(hence the four stars instead of five). But definitely give this place a shot if you get the chance

I’ve been to The House a handful of times now, and I always come out of the restaurant with a happy tummy. The food is really good, pretty innovative too considering how everything on the menu is an Asian take on a traditional American dish. Or maybe it’s the other way around? It’s definitely one of the better Asian Fusion places I’ve been to. Perhaps I’ve been spoiled with too many visits to The House, the food just doesn’t stand out to me as the best. They also tend to be a little heavy on the flavoring, which I don’t like s much. It’s a cozy little place with good food and good atmosphere! Definitely make a reservation if you plan on going.

Went to The House for an early dinner before seeing Beach Blanket Babylon this past Friday evening. Really 4 ½ stars as everything from start to finish was delicious, spot on preparation and presentation. The food and flavors here are distinctive and savory. We wound up sharing everything. We started with Deep-Fried Salmon Roll served with Chinese hot mustard and seared scallops with a ponzu citrus based sauce. Could not have two different appetizers but each was a standout. For mains we went with Grilled Sea Bass served with garlic ginger soy and Kurobuta Pork Chop served with pomegranate currant sauce. As with the starters both were excellent, my wife said the pork chop was one of the best ever. The garlic noodles with the sea bass were outstanding. Often with great apps and entrees, dessert is a letdown. Not here, we shared a special chocolate macadamia torte with chantilly cream and a scoop of espresso ice cream. Delicious ending to a great dinner. There is a nice little wine list and glasses are reasonable. We were able to snag the front table next to the window which gave us some extra room. Service was friendly and efficient. The House is an excellent choice for Asian Fusion in North Beach.

So good! Best meal we had in SF — hands down! Everything was delicious. The grilled octopus was definitely my favorite but everything else from the scallops, salmon rolls, shrimp wasabi noodles, and seafood risotto was all very good! After a few days of hits and misses in the city, our dinner here was very pleasing because for the first time in all the meals we had in SF, every single item we ordered tasted good! Will definitely come back here if I visit SF again!

Made a 7pm reservation on a Monday and was seated right away. This place has been bookmarked for quite some time and my sister reminded me to try this place. WASNOTDISAPPOINTED. We started with the hamachi appetizer and it was amazing! The flavors were so great. I went for the cod special which was outstanding. Perfectly cooked. I ended with the house made cheesecake which just about made my life. I wanted to order another one… it was THAT good. Not overly cheesy, it was fluffy, and the blueberry compote and cream it came with was just magical. Don’t miss this one!

I usually am not a fan of Asian Fusion places, but I was intrigued to try their fried salmon roll and their wasabi noodles. First off, make reservations as this restaurant is small. My party ordered the fried salmon roll to start, the wasabi noodles with flank steak, the grill sea bass, and the pork chop with pomegranate currant sauce. The fried salmon roll is unlike your typical salmon rolls as this was perfectly cooked medium rare fillets of salmon inside a wonton wrapper. Think of it as a fried salmon egg roll. Out of the entrees, I enjoyed the grill sea bass best. What’s not advertised is that the sea bass comes with a side of garlic noodles, which I actually preferred over the wasabi noodles. Funny because I came here for the wasabi noodles haha. But to me, the wasabi noodles tasted like regular Lo mein to me, with very little if any wasabi taste. The garlic noodles on the other hand had a distinct garlic taste which is why I liked this better. Also, the steak was a bit chewy and hard, while the sea bass was perfectly cooked. I’m not a big pork fan, but I took a bite out of the huge pork chop and it was fairly sweet in taste; the sauce reminded me of the sesame chicken. Definitely worth a visit!

It was a dark and rainy night… after a long day in the office, and I admittedly was ready to head back to my hotel, put on my PJs, order room service, and call it a night. But thanks to Miriam W planning ahead, we had a dinner reservation for 7pm at The House to look forward to, and it did not disappoint. We arrived a bit early for the reservation and the restaurant was bustling. I hear this is often the case at The House, so reservations are indeed required. We waited a few minutes for our table to open up and then settled into a cozy spot in the middle of the restaurant, perfect for our party of three. Service was attentive enough. Our waitress went over the specials, ensured we had water, and gave us sufficient time to look over the menu and decide what to order. We decided to order family style and share… We started with the Deep Fried Salmon roll and Unagi as appetizers, followed by The House’s signature Wasabi Noodle with Steak and Black Cod special entrees.(The Unagi and Black Cod were the winners in my eyes!) We also shared a bottle of Viogner, many laughs and some memorable conversations. I almost forgot… we ended the meal sharing the Mango Tapioca, which was the perfect sweet ending to the evening. If you like Asian Fusion, you can’t go wrong with The House, especially if you have some fun friends or colleagues to join you. Needless to say, I am a fan!

How do I even start… We got to the restaurant a little before they opened for dinner and there was already a line forming. I would suggest coming before they open if you can’t make a reservation because we were seated pretty quickly. The ambiance of the small restaurant is really casual, which was surprising because I was expecting something fancier to match the $$$ signs it has on Unilocal. The food, however, was fancy and everything more. My friend and I shared the Deep Fried Salmon Roll. The inside is perfectly cooked with rare salmon in the middle. Comes over a kimchi-style salad and with a Chinese spicy mustard sauce. The sauce was a overpowering for me because it’s wasabi aroma went straight up my nose but that’s because I generally don’t like wasabi. My friend decided to get the Grilled Sea Bass and I went with the special of the day, Grilled Mahi Mahi. The Grilled Sea Bass came with garlic noodles and string beans. The sea bass was soft and buttery! The stir fry noodles had a mild garlic taste. The Grilled Mahi Mahi was served over a coconutty/miso broth and with potatoes and mussels and topped with some kind of fried crispy grated noodle texture vegetable(unsure). The House really knows how to whip up broth because whatever was in it was really flavorful– sweetish and savoryish. The fish itself was so moist and the mussels didn’t have a fishy flavor despite being in a fish dish. FOODGASMACCOMPLISHED ! I wish they wrote the specials down on a piece of paper instead of having the waiters say it all in one go, because there were so many specials and I have the memory of a goldfish D: But they were nice enough to repeat it for me like 3 times hahaha Believe the hype! It’ll be worth all the $$$.

The House has been bookmarked for a long time. And finally, over Christmas break we zipped up to the city just to get some good eats. Found THE perfect parking spot, literally right in front of the restaurant door. Love when that happens(never). :) Small place. We knew that going in, but still it’s difficult when you arrive you’re being squeezed into a tiny spot between folk that are already eating. Not the place for a quiet, romantic evening out. And loud, very loud. Very difficult to hear the server announce the specials. Wow, I’m not old, but I sure sound like it. Service was bare minimum. I don’t think our server checked back with us even once, but luckily we weren’t in need. The servers didn’t strike me as experienced and everything felt so rushed. No real time to talk about the menu and get opinions and recommendations. This would be a great restaurant to come right at opening when they’re not crazy busy. That way, you could probably get some quality attention. What did we eat? DEEPFRIEDSALMONROLLS(5⁄5) These are bomb. Order these for sure, especially if you like salmon. GRILLEDOCTOPUS(5⁄5) Different from the way other restaurants serve it, this one had a sauce and was entirely tender and delicious. Highly recommended. SEABASSWITHGARLICNOODLES(4⁄5) My wife’s dish. She loved the sea bass. She loved the fish more than the noodles. I thought the noodles were pretty good. Thick, almost like udon. FLATIRONSTEAKWITHGARLICNOODLES(3⁄5) My daughter’s dish. She said it was not memorable, and that it’s a steak you could get anywhere. She said the noodles were good, but again, nothing special. SHORTRIBSWITHMASHEDPOTATOES(4⁄5) Not your average short rib dish. It felt more like a tri-tip. And it was served sliced, with a good amount of pink. I was confused a bit when they asked me how I wanted my short ribs cooked. Short ribs typically come braised or slow-cooked so sliced and pink came as a nice surprise. I enjoyed the meat but the mashed potatoes were sorely lacking. Served pretty much cold and lifeless. Tasted like day-old Thanksgiving leftovers. No thank you on the potatoes. TUNAPOKE(3.5÷5) Good but not great, somehow tasted too salty. COCONUTCREMEBRULEE(3⁄5) Good, but I had a problem with the consistency. It was too loose for me and not strong enough on the coconut. And had a problem with the portion. Like a ¼ inch deep, what? TRUFFLECHOCOLATECAKE(4⁄5) If you’re a dark chocolate fan, you will love this. I’m not, but my wife and daughter are. They raved and I let them eat it all. PERSIMMONPUDDING(5⁄5) Star of the desserts. LOVED this. Rich and creamy, warm and inviting, full of persimmon flavor, big-time comfort food right here. Inspired to make at home. Kudos to the pastry chef. I hope this is still on the menu by the time you arrive! I think The House has the potential to be great. The chefs are good and you can see and taste their talent on your plate. Down side is the crowded and rushed atmosphere, but I think the food is worth it.

My favorite restaurant in SF hands down. From their appetizers to main course to dessert, nothing disappoints. For appetizers we got their scallops which were really good, made me wish it was a main course instead. We also tried their chicken salad, sounds boring but it’s not your traditional salad, had more chicken their veggies in proportion with an Asian twist. Now onto their main courses. Their Wasabi Noodles with skirt steak has the balance of a perfect meal. Packs a lot of great contrasting flavors and the steak was cooked just right. Probably my favorite item to order. Of course you can’t forget the Seabass which is also a popular dish here and I definitely see why. It comes with noodles, sauteed green beans, and side of sauce(fish already has a lot of flavor so try not to drench it or it’ll be too salty). The Pomegrante Pork Chops are also a must try! It was tender and the pomegrante sauce added a sweet flavor to the meat. Lastly, dessert. I’ve only tried one item from their dessert menu so I definitely want to come back to try the others. We got their seasonal persimmon bread pudding and it was heavenly. Though the flavor closely reminded us of a pumpkin pie. Unlike a lot of popular restaurants in SF, I’ve managed to snag reservations a few days before 2 times now. This place is small unfortunately but worth it. Overall fantastic food, fantastic service, whats not to love?

For ADHD readers: After the above great reviews, you really don’t need to read my review. However, I emphasize on the fact this is a fantastic Asian Fusion restaurant in the heart of San Francisco. Don’t hesitate about where to take your wife or date or friends; just come here. It’s the best in SF area, hands down! Fried Salmon roll is a MUST. For genuine Unilocalerz: Why should you dine at The House of San Francisco? Not only for the 3600+ Unilocal reviews and consensus on more than 4 stars. Those diverse Unilocalers can be so picky, so bipolar or fair. So 4+ stars is something not easy to ignore. At the same time, always keep an open mind and have a good Unilocalerized hunch. This is unquestionably my favorite restaurant in San Francisco and, I think, one of the greatest in America. If you give this restaurant less than 5 stars, you have a serious problem with your tasting buds and mood, and you better retire from Unilocal and find yourself a good shrink; unless something unusual happened. On the other hand, this is a small restaurant, so it’s not for large parties. Experience. Make sure you call for a reservation couple days in advance. Came here with newlywed, one of the greatest friends and his wife. Staff and waitresses are ever-smiling, hospitable and still chipper even for our late 9:15 pm reservation. Tables and chairs were clean, simple and non-extravagant. Your expectations are neutral if you just look at the atmosphere. It’s a cozy and warm place with a family-owned vibe. Salmon Phenomena. Deep fried salmon roll with Chinese hot mustard and roe is a MUST here. Ordered one and then had to ordered another one. We could’ve ordered 6 of these, finished dinner and left super happy. The taste of this roll is just phenomenal! They were perfectly cooked, rare in the middle. Be careful not to pour too much of the hot mustard. Raging smoke will come out of your ears if you get too much of that sauce(like what happened with this dude). Seriously, you can eat only these salmon rolls and leave happy. Entrees. 1– seared ahi with spicy mustard aioli on top of sticky rice 2– ribeye steak with teriyaki, toasted garlic butter sauce 3– pork chop with pomegranate currant sauce I tried the ahi and ribeye steak. The seared ahi was spectacular! It was the best ahi I’ve ever had. Ribeye was great, but between the awesome salmon roll and ahi, its thunder was stolen. Prices here are the most reasonable. My friend and his wife were super happy with the experience. My friend is a high class fastidious foodie and hearing how happy he was, made my night. He paid for the food which makes anyone happy :). We left with a big smile, took a glorious stroll, loafing around in North Beach, praising The House and enjoying the Christmasy air. It is indeed the house of San Francisco!

This place got some friggin bomb fish! and appetizers! I came here on a Sunday night at 7 ish and this place was packed out the door! Deep-fried salmon roll, Chinese hot mustard — really yummy! I dont remember much from it but I do enjoy the Chinese hot mustard. It’s not like spicy hot. it’s like. horseradish and wasabi type of hot Miso black cod, crab avocado maki — super soft fish! It was very well flavored, but a little on the salty side. The crab avocado maki was like a long california roll pretty much. Very good place, their fish, their garlic noodles are really good. You can’t go wrong ordering any fish here.

My favorite restaurant here in SF. My friend brought me here a few years ago and recommended I order the sea bass. At that time I never tried sea bass before, but after having it here I was hooked. I haven’t found any other restaurant that serves it as moist and flavorful as The House. Paired with garlic noodles, you have one crazy delicious dinner. After I moved up to SF, I took my family here and they loved every dish they ordered. For the size of the restaurant(pretty small) it’s usually easy to score a reservation. Definitely a must try if you’re here in the city.
