Clean, courteous, warm, inviting. Did I mention clean? Oh did you want a good review? Check out the stars — there are endless smiles coming your way(and your belly’s) if you give this sunset diamond a chance. Say no to Taco Bell and say yes to the independent that does all sandwiches and wraps right at an affordable price. I will definitely return!!!

Sometimes I need to count my blessings. Example: D has just gotten lasik(what what?!?) And I was feeling particularly lazy. Something about working from home and the cold weather makes the perfect recipe to do nothing. I rush out the door, hoping to go get some Grubbin’ before they closed, only to find that they changed their hours and now close an hour earlier. Disappointed, I finally decide to try Deli King. I’ve passed by close to a million times on the way to milk tea and have always told myself that we should try it out. Well, today was the day! I got lamb cheesesteak which came out to 8.65 after tax. The two ladies who worked there and were super sweet, reminding me of how much I love the sunset. To wrap up a long story, I went home, I ate it, I enjoyed it, and I’ll be back.

Get the shawarma! Lamb and chicken are both excellent. Half is just right but for hungry tummies, a whole one will fill you right up. Add eggplant for a delicious addition. I like to balance it out with cucumber salad. I ordered a ton for my wedding rehearsal dinner and everyone loved their shawarma! I plan on hopefully ordering a bunch for Christmas like 80! The best part is Mary, the owner, is the sweetest!

I work a block away off Taraval — when Mary found out I worked nearby(other coworkers visit here often), she gave me two sandwiches for one! So very kind :) I really like the Jerusalem falafel wrap here — make sure to get it spicy style.

Oh deli king, what oasis in the middle of my work day. The menu is basic — falafel, bagels, some drinks — but how delicious, and the owner, Mary, is the best. She recognised me after a few visits and now knows my usual — such a nice thing to have a «usual», makes me feel a bit like I’m on the set of Cheers, even if it is noon on a Sunday. Deli king is basic, well made fare in a classic deli storefront with the best owner one could ask for.

The Deli King was pretty darn good. I got the Greek salad and my boyfriend got a falafel wrap called Jerusalem. I usually don’t like ordering salads when I eat out, but I decided to eat something fresh. It did not disappoint. So fresh. I felt good about myself eating it lol. My boyfriend really likes the wraps here. The wrap was crisp and tasty. Family business, people were nice, location is convenient(muni stops right in front).

The teriyaki sandwich is AMAZING. I loved it. The sandwich price is not that bad considering the lady who makes it is SO nice and the sandwich keeps you very full and happy :) Plus, the place is not restricted to sandwiches! There is a nice variety of food, like pastas, salads, drinks, etc. Also, there is a boba place right next to it. So bonus: D

Best Pastrami Sandwich in the sunset. All ingredients are fresh and it only costs $ 5.85. Go there almost weekly. The owner is the sweetest lady who works almost 7 days a week. She really loves her business.

I’ve always passed by this little shop all my life and only this week did I finally experience what they had to offer. I ordered the egg, avocado, and bacon bagel. Oh my gosh. It was so delicious. I haven’t had a good bagel sandwich in a while, and this one really hit the spot, ESPECIALLY that avocado. They really didn’t skimp out on the avocado at all, and for that, I’m so grateful. Location and pricing is absolutely perfect since Lincoln High School is just up the block, so I can only imagine how their business must boom during their lunch hours!

I checked their website before I walked into the shop. They have totally different items from the website. Apparently they changed owner not long ago but they can still make the similar sandwiches with the items they have. I got a sandwich and a lamb shawarma. The bacons in the sandwich tasted like a jerky and shawarma was not fresh. I don’t think I will to go to this place again.

Pretty small shop with good sandwiches… almost the same as other delis but have a lil more ingredients to choose from if wanted. As for the prices, it’s average. Overall, I give it one thumbs up!

I walked in here thinking this place could be my next favorite hole-in-the-wall shawarma joint. Unfortunately, I am sad to say that it is not. The store is equipped with 2 mini versions of the typical spinning meat roasters, but when I came here, the meat was already cooked, cut, and put away in a container. Already minus points, but I was still hopefully. I got the chicken shawarma and was overall disappointed. The portions were large, but the chicken was unseasoned and bland. The ‘spicy’ sauce they added did not help the situation at all.

New owners as far as I can recall. I no longer see the old guys that used to work here, which were the reason for a lot of negative feedback. The sandwiches are simplified to a basic menu but essentially it’s the same. They even branched out a little with a bit of Mediterranean choices.(Falafel, salad, shawarma) For your run of the mill sandwich spot, I wouldn’t write up a review but the to do the place justice, I like the two ladies running the place now. They’re very sweet, accommodating and have no problems putting my order together as quickly as they can so I can catch my train. KD is a solid neighborhood spot for a good sandwich.

Never coming here again. Where do I start, as you may be able to tell from the other reviews, the owners are so rude. I can’t explain. Not only were they mocking my ethnicity as I was talking on the phone in Chinese, but the man(Owner I assume) took my sandwich and marked it with random sharpie stroke and said it meant ‘Chicken’ in Chinese, in case I didn’t understand English.(I linked the photo below) I was astounded and I suddenly lost my appetite. Which takes me to my next point. The sandwich was not worth dealing with the rude workers. The bread was hard and difficult to bite into. I wonder if anyone else experienced the same thing. I got the dutch crunch if that helps. But it doesn’t matter, because I’m not coming back. I don’t suggest you come here either. If you want a quality sandwich, go to Gene’s a few blocks down. One of the BEST I’ve ever had! You can read the reviews yourself! The owner Hamik is literally so sweet, it really makes the whole experience that much better to know that your money is going to someone kind. Do yourself a favor and save your money. Sandwich photo:

I had my first shawarma here and it is so delicious. I’ll be trying them at different places now! It is a bit pricey. My total was around 8 bucks. The shawarma was a bit small too. Long, but a lot thinner than I imagined. I guess the place changed ownership during the summer. I was a bit confused by all the change because they didn’t change the name of the place. The menu is completely different. The lady behind the counter seemed nice.

at a glance, Deli King didn’t have much to offer: snacks, sammies, salads, shawarma, hot dogs.(didn’t see the menu) Deli King is just an hole in the wall with a L angle service counter and a few tables for sitdown. eats: ¼# kosher hot dog(2.5) –dog split grilled, didn’t have much taste. –condiments of mustard, ketchup, onions, relish-the works not spectacular nor lacking, just above average 3.5 stars : crumbs: –chicken shawarma(5.99) seem cheap not sure how it was prepped, skipped. –fast, friendly service

David S. and Dena R. was right. 1 star goes to the friendly staff /owner. 1 star for their creativity Thats where it ends folks. I read a lot of great reviews and wanted to give this place a shot. I love pastrami. I’m still looking for a 5 star establishment that serves this awesome cured meat. I went in with high hopes and left severely disappointed. I ordered «The River»: Hot pastrami, swiss, mozzarella, spicy mayo, pepperoncini $ 7.99 Sounds amazing right? What I received was bread that was under toasted, pastrami that tasted like it came from preformed pastrami«ball» ie(additional additives, preservatives) the kind you see inside the deli counter at Safeway. Spicy mayo was good but it couldnt save the sandwich. Here’s the kicker: I asked for extra meat a $ 2 option and confirmed it with the guy but what I got was a couple extra slices. Huh? Check out my photos and decide for yourself. Looks like a regular order. So its $ 7.99 + $ 2(extra meat) = $ 9.99 I would not return. At this price I can get real pastrami at Morty’s or Millers, I will even go to Togo’s. I’ll even settle for Sub Center on West Portal.

The sandwich quest continues… Deli King offers royal sandwiches($ 6.99& up), salads, the create your own sandwich options, bagels, lasagna, spam musubi and chicken teriyaki over rice or in a sandwich. They also have premade sandwiches for $ 3.99. The royal sandwiches are named after poker hands. To order, fill out a slip of paper and specify your choice of bread, type of sandwich, condiments, etc. * Flush($ 7.49) : a toasted sandwich with rotisserie chicken, shredded lettuce, melted pepper jack cheese, pepperoncini, tomatoes, pickles, onion, mayo, mustard on a sweet roll. The sandwich had a good ratio of bread to fillings(not too much bread) but the sandwich was too wet, so the bread became soggy quickly. The sandwich was average in terms of ingredients and flavor. The meat, sauce and bread options are standard, except for the teriyaki chicken. The décor is quite basic with stools and counter seating.
