I used Eat24& ordered a Reuben; well heated add coleslaw. I said I’ll pay in cash(niiice because who want to bother with cc’s right?) Got a nice text back from a obviously real live human who confirmed. I get there, the Reuben has no cheese, no coleslaw and looks and tastes totally repulsive. Low quality too! Still waiting for a refund…

Being fairly new to San Francisco, and in need of good cheap eats that won’t break the bank, Handy Deli has come up big in every way! Their sandwiches are on point and for the price($ 8) it’s hard to beat. The chicken salad is awesome, especially when it’s made fresh. The owner is super nice and friendly and helpful, as well as the staff. They have a pretty healthy beer selection with good deals on local brews, and enough liquor to please(a bit pricey but normal for any liquor store trying to compete with the massive liquor outlets). I enjoy coming here, and will continue to frequent the Handy!

Very good reuben sandwich for only $ 7.50. Also, amazing selection of root beer and sodas that I have to try.

This place is super friendly and awesome food! The portions are great even for my hungry boyfriend. Sandwiches are made fresh and really good value. There are always specials too. I love their breakfast sandwiches. They are really different from your typical offerings.

My bf got the frisco club w/chicken and provolone on dutch crunch, and I got the falafel wrap. Both were pretty cheap(total was $ 17, cheese is extra btw) and filling, but just decent in terms of taste and freshness. For his sandwich, the dutch crunch was a bit stale; for my wrap, I thought the falafel was dry and the tahini too liquidy.

I was surprised when I walked in because it’s tucked into a convenience store. I ordered the Chicken Delight and it was delicious, especially since I had been walking around the Golden Gate Park for three hours. They put in a good amount of meat so don’t worry about it. I didn’t realize that they charge 0.75 for cheese but might as well while you’re there. There are two small tables outside the deli so you can eat out there. It was nice to just sit outside and enjoy food.

OMG. If any of you guys are planning on getting the BLT, please DONOT. The so called«bacon» in it was brown and extremely burnt to an absolute crisp. It was also overbearingly salty to the point where I had to take out almost all of it. You know when you eat a bunch of sour patch kids and your tongue peels? Well, that’s what happened to me. Basically it was not bacon. Save yourself the time and money and just make yourself a sandwich at home because this place is not the business.

This place is the GS Warriors of sandwiches. The Shwarma was the Klay Thomson — really good and well rounded. It fell under the shadow of the MVP though — The Bistro. The Steph Curry of sandwiches dropped a half court shot with pure confidence. The Caprese salad was Andrew Bogut — it got the job done but has room for improvement. The staff was nice and helpful with suggestions. Good spot, fam.

Jerry and his family and staff are fantastic! And with Jerry’s new cooler, Handy Deli has, without a doubt THECOLDESTBEERINTOWN, and that’s a fact Jack!!!

After my previous review Jerry was kind enough to reach out to me to invite me back to try a sandwich on them. I visited at a more reasonable hour yesterday(~5 pm) and went with a Sunset Blue on whole wheat. Verdict: very good. The sandwich was quite tasty — at the very least much better than I could make on my own!(Though admittedly that may not be a very high bar to clear.) There was a plentiful amount of roast beef and the umami gorgonzola contrasting nicely with the slightly sweet citrus vinaigrette. More important, however, is how warm and friendly Jerry was. During the 5 or 10 minutes I waited for my sandwich to be made I saw him greet multiple visitors by name — clearly this is a place that engenders loyalty. Looking forward to my next visit!

Love this place. Huge selection of beer from all over the world. Wine and allllll types of liquor. It’s small and family owned Staff is super helpful and knowledgeable about all products. I’ve come in looking for something simple. Always leaving with something special. The deli is magnificent … Great food … Never too long a wait.

Expertly crafted sandwiches & salads, and a great selection of booze to boot. It’s pretty amazing how many tasty things can be in this relatively small place. I just moved to the area and have already stopped in several times. That trend will continue.

Beyond impressed, came in for a midnight Sandwedge left missing living in the city. This place is beyond awesome and filled with trinkets and presents and things for those friends who have everything. I even noticed a crystal skull with some of the best looking vodka in it I could ever imagine. Asked for a roast beef sandwich and got something the size of a very hefty Burrito… I’ll have a meal for now and for tomorrow! The owner is also an incredibly jovial nice guy with a smile that’ll brighten up your day.

GREAT little sandwich shop/deli with a very friendly owner who makes really good sandwiches. If you visit Golden Gate Park this is a great spot to stop and grab a bite before heading to your next destination. Would definitely recommend.

These guys are so nice every time I come in! I crave their rosemary chicken when I want something healthier for lunch. I hear that their sandwiches are good as well! Typically I can’t finish my whole plate anyways, so I save some for dinner. :) They have a variety of snacks and drinks as well – even some cheese and some other delicacies, such as baklava and nougat candies. Keep it up, Handy Deli! I appreciate the service and quality you guys maintain. Until next time!

Guy at the counter recommended the chicken shawarma and it was SOOO good! I have no complaints, this place is a hidden gem. Wish they had some indoor seating(only have a couple outdoor tables), but still great for take-out or a quick bite!

Small business with killer house made roast beef, medium rare tender perfection! Nice to have a neighborhood deli that actually makes their own food and offer daily home made specialties. Dutch Crunch A Must!!! Did I mention the prices? On point! With sandwiches averaging 6 bucks! This place is a bit cramped so expect to stand in close proximity to other humans hungry and willing to knock you down to get their order. The owners couldn’t be more helpful, taking orders, managing the store, making you feel welcome. Need I say more? No. Just shut up and eat…

I bussed it from LA for a 1 day hike adventure. Stopped here after I saw how near it was from where I was when I checked in to Unilocal.Given that I was super exhausted from all the hiking I did, this place was super convenient for me – and I’m glad it was too. The main dude was really nice. Hooked it up with a free drink since I was new to the Deli and the city. Nabbed me a vitamin water to wash down number 1 on the menu. I forgot what the name of the sandwich was but, it involved chicken and bacon. He kept telling me that everything they serve there was made by them. I took that as: nothing there is frozen bs food. Okay. I ate the sandwich. Yo, that sub is in my top two fav sandwiches, along with the Manhattan sandwich from Alondra Hot Wings. You gotta stop here. Now, if you’re going to eat there, I gotta tell you that there is only two coop tables available. Not a family friendly type thing; unless, you take it to go. Check the spot out.

Quite possibly best sandwich ever! How? Why? You may ask? Well… What makes little deli stand out among the rest is the owners passion for food/cooking. The ingredients here are all fresh or housemade. This is no Oscar Meyer luncheon meat kinda place! It was my first time here so I needed a recommendation(which he was able to give without hesitation) After discussing all other options, I wanted it all! However, I settled for one and went for the turkey lulu! This baby has fresh baked turkey, red cabbage slaw and WALNUT pesto. Add pepper jack cheese & Dutch crunch, and it’s absolutely amazing. The care they put into making their sandwiches definitely shines through in it’s taste! I devoured the whole thing while walking! Upon paying, I mistakenly was having activation problems with the only card I had on me and mistakenly forgot my wallet at home. I was so embarrassed! The owner was completely lax about it and allowed to to pay him later; who does that nowadays? This small deli with a warm community feel will continue to have MY business.

Damn, this place is the . Jerry is awesome and you can taste his passion for great food. Everything is homemade and amazing. I had the Turkey Lulu sandwich(turkey roasted in house, and the walnut pesto is incredible) and everything about it was perfect and not fattening ;o). My boyfriend had the Bistro sandwich(basically a cheese steak with all fresh or homemade ingredients including the beef being roasted in house!!!) and it was so delicious. It was our first of many visits to this place. We will definitely become regulars. PS: great beer, wine and liquor selection too.
