Since Ron passed, the bar went to hell, a drug addict drama queen took it over then others. It never became a friendly bar again, all but David D the bar was pretty much worthless memory of what t could have been.

Ever since my favorite bar, the SF Eagle closed, I’ve had to meander through the myriad of bars in San Francisco whenever I hit town for visits. This last trip put Deco on the map of places to come back to. first off, the staff was wonderful and friendly. The drinks were poured well, and I would have gone back for the DJs later in the evening if I hadn’t taken two Xanax on the plane and passed out at 8:30pm(totally unheard of) in my hotel after leaving the Deco Lounge. I’ll definitely be back.

LOVETHISPLACE! Tuesdays and Thursdays are karaōke nights and Eileen rocks it out. If it’s slow(which it rarely is), she’ll get up there and belt one out. So awesome! Her music collection is HUGE and she adds recent tracks pretty often. Outside of karaōke, the bartenders are sassy, the drinks are cheap(cash only!), and the people are ridiculously nice. Pool in the back. Tons of events. It’s a good time.

I’ve had a lot of fun coming here with friends on a Monday night. I LOVE Ginger Snaps fun show and outrageous show, and it is always a blast dancing after the show — the music is great. This is a small and intimate venue, and you should be prepared to tip the performers. Only had one negative experience when one of the performers licked my hair repeatedly — don’t know what I did to deserve that(it was not pleasant), but otherwise everyone there has been great!

I had a blast at the Haçeteria! dance party the 1st Saturday of this month, I can’t quite remember the last time I shook my camel that hard. Mixed non-judgmental crowd, Stiff drinks, Stimulating visuals

I was sexually assaulted here. True story… it was a really unfortunate experience that ended with my being sexually assaulted(I won’t go into details) by a really cracked-out and/or inebriated patron. When I asked the«security» for help, they gave a lackluster response(it turns out my assaulter was a «regular») and they just moved him further down the bar. Wow guys, that was hella helpful… now the creep is seething and staring at me from down the bar, plotting his next sleazy move. Ugh. Next time I’ll just have the foresight to call the police — if this was any other bar & especially if I was a straight girl, the guy would be in jail as I write this. I’m not sure I feel safe coming back.

This place is a hidden gem! They’ve got a dance floor, pool tables, DJ and great snacks! The staff here is amazing, they’re super friendly and extremely welcoming. It definitely felt like we’d walked into the TV show Cheers. but drag style! Tim, the manager, was so accommodating and the drinks he made us were delicious. You can definitely tell the difference when a bartender puts effort into making the drinks, which just makes the experience so much more enjoyable. The drinks were really cheap too! Great place to hang out and make new friend. I’ll be back!

i had a dark embarrassing experience at the deco lounge a few years ago. i don’t want to discuss it in too much detail, but the end was that i found a few dollar bills in my underwear as i was walking back to my car. that’s how much fun it was.

I really love the Deco Lounge for the friendly, relaxed atmosphere. You just don’t get the same experience you get here in the Castro. I really recommend the karaōke nights for those who don’t feel comfortable singing. You’ll have a great time! The staff is also great, and are way more approachable than the staff at any bar in the Castro. I really, really want to give this place 5 stars but I just can’t. I have to knock off one star over last night’s Werq«performance.» I was looking forward to a good drag show, brought a couple of friends, and we all paid $ 5 cover for a show that was supposed to *start* at 10:30. 11pm rolls around, and there is no show going on. Now, I understand there are certain things that happen with shows… they start late because they’re waiting for a larger crowd, queens run on drag queen time. Happens. But I noticed some of the crowd had actually left, and the queens were just hanging out. But if you’re paying for a show, the show should start and then do the hanging out afterwards. That, and the drinks leave much to be desired. They’re decently priced($ 5 for a well), but put into tiny plastic cups. A late show + drinks meant I took my friends and I elsewhere. Which is a shame, because this place is really a gem.

I went here with a friend once. The bartenders were really nice to me. I was a bit nervous about being in the Tenderloin since I am so unfamilar with the area. The bartender gave me a kiss on my hand and my friend and I had this shot of this stuff with him. He also kissed me on the cheek. If I am going to the TL again. I’d visit this place. Unlike Divas, I actually want to hang out here. It’s nothing like Badlands and attracts a different crowd but I can say I definitely had fun here.

I believe this place is everything I want in a gay club in the Castro but haven’t found yet! I love costume karaōke Thursdays and the fun that the people seem to have all over this multi-roomed place. I was there for Halloween last year with a few friends and I loved the atmosphere, especially on the dancefloor. I have since been there a few times for karaōke and apparently not always is it KJ Paul, because 2 of the 3 times it was a chick and she didn’t have as much music and it was dead in the place. I still like the place, but I’d have to say it’s changed my rating of the place since they promise great karaōke Tue/Thurs every week and Paul wasn’t there. I didn’t go for the bartender’s birthday but heard it was a good time.

Deco is a true San Francisco Gem. It is an openly gay bar that welcomes all with big open arms. The crowd is always friendly and the shows are fantastic. There are AMAZING drag shows put on by fabulous drag queens like Ginger Snap, Duplicity and Holly DeVille(Fridays). There is a pool room, a dance/show room and a fabulous Deco style bar. There is karaōke twice a week on Tuesdays and Thursdays and on Thursdays there is a costume rack full of amazing things(sun glasses, wigs, dresses…) to try on and play in. If you are itching to see an amazing drag show check out Snap-a-Licious, Duplicity Presents or Holly’s Hobby on Fridays! There is also the All MALE Amateur Strip Show, the GO-BANG dance party, Bear-a-licious, Monday movies, pool tournaments and on and on! There are always drink specials($ 5PBR + shot) and the bartenders are not shy with their pours. There is no cover unless there is a show, and then the cover goes to the artists and you will get way more then you pay for! Monday-Thursdays are always free. Deco is fabulous, amazing, sweet, cool, fantastic, outrageous, loving, fun… It embodies what I love about San Francisco!

I had a good experience at Deco Lounge being my first time. I waltzed in on a slow Tuesday, it wasn’t very crowded but it seemed like a lot of regulars and the bartender knew everyone. They were playing some bumpin music as they were getting ready for karaōke. A shot of whiskey was 5.50. PBR costs 2. I liked the red lights in the bathroom. It’s hard not to look sexy in red light. i was the only chick in the bar and the only straight dude in the bar bought me drinks and so it went on from there :)

Deco Lounge was great. I have only been once so far, but everyone was really nice to me(staff and patrons). Also, the layout of the bar is really interesting. i like that there are different levels throughout the place and the it feels very comfy. It wasn’t absolutely perfect, but pretty cool place with good entertainment. :)

This place is great for a few reasons. While, it’s a little dark and a tad rough around the edges… the people are lots of fun and the events here are great. I’m a big fan of the karaōke here and went a few weeks ago to see that they have COSTUMES! Yes, the DJ brings these piles and piles of sequined dresses, jackets, vests, etc. to put on over your clothes so you can sing like a real diva. And then some. Also, Deco let us host a fundraiser here last weekend and it was SUPERSUCCESSFUL. They let us charge a suggested donation cover fee, and host a raffle of prizes etc and are also doing their part to encourage attendance at our conference this weekend. Love businesses that give back to the community :)

I was brought here by my buddy’s friends… one of them lives a block away. Didn’t even see the big rainbow flag outside, apparently I missed it. It was a Thursday, so that means Karaōke night! They have a stage, legit karaōke system from the 80’s, but with some recent songs. They have a few domestic beers on tap for $ 3. I can do with all the shirtless guys though, but that’s what you get at Deco. The bartender suggested if we want to see more we go to strip tease sundays.

Went to Deco for the first time this past Friday night to see the Snap A Licious Drag show with Ginger Snap. I am a huge drag snob and while not all the queens were rocking Ginger Snap herself was a wonderful hostess and performer. As for the lounge the space to watch the show was tight but everyone was very friendly. A very mixed crowd: drag hag straight girls, lesbians, and every kind of gay man imaginable. Amit S. summed it up well in his review except I am sure there were far more women attending for the drag show. The drinks I ordered were small and overpriced but powerful. Next time I’ll stick with the drink special which was only like $ 3.50. The staff was friendly although they could have used one more cocktail boy to serve the crowd. I would definitely go back for other shows/events. peace, love, and good booze ~ chase

YeYah! Thumbs up and everything UP for this place. Good drinks, good service, good vibe, good crowd and good music… 5Gs and still counting! It’s always such a joy when you stumble upon a place like The Deco Lounge to discover gay men and women, and their friends and family, that are fun, friendly, unpretentious, edgy, diverse in every way, non-posers, laid back and topped off with a saucy«rim of raunchiness» that sets the bar for this venue! Me and my posse showed up this past Saturday around midnight for the Disco night they have every last Saturday of the month. It was like entering a different universe! THECROWD We were a gaggle of geese, bears, twinks, über gays, younger gays(about 60%), older gays, bois, daddies, str8 jocks(yup! I saw you, Mister), tattooed hunks, business visitors, fashionistas, fashion disasters, dancers, shakers, movers, bad dancers, drunks, not so drunks, yappers, nappers, big guys, small guys, even one or two blue collar guys, yada! yada! yada! Many, many regulars as well it looked like. All dancing together without a care in the world and just happy to be out there. Seriously! have never met such friendly folks right from the bouncer to the owners to the bartenders to the DJ to the crowd. THEMUSIC Good bass, good beats and the gaggle above were thrilled no end to be shaking our money makers to some old school + new school disco numbers. DJ was great and interactive and I have to say, every time the smoke machine came on, it got everyone in a Studio 54 mood! THEBAR Good bartenders, good service and good drinks, and we never waited more than like, 15 seconds before one of two bartenders took our orders. They’re friendly too and know the crowd well. The bouncers and the owners are there as well and mixed with the crowd. THESPACE I still have not figured out if its one floor or two floors. I remained on the first floor rotating between the bar, the dance floor and the pool area. What was great was I could dance for a bit, then take a break at the bar, then hang out and chat at the pool table and then head back to the dance floor. It’s deceptively big and seems like it can accommodate a big crowd. THELOCATION Meh! Bordering on the Tenderloin, it can be a bit dicey but I walked back home around 3AM to Market and was fine. Reminds me of Booty Call at Q Bar but on a more down to earth and less posy scale, mixed in with the comfort of Trax, the edginess of The Cinch and the craziness of San Francisco! Disco night reminded me of the times at the old BOC when they had Disco night… sigh! Good times! Yeah, this place’s raunchy factor is pretty high and that’s what me and all my friends loved about the place. It’s got the right amount of raunchiness, with just the right mix of folks, the right music, the right drinks and the right attitude with all its patrons… its the RIGHT place to be! Me be going here lots and lots.

You know you had a little too much fun on Friday night when you have to go to urgent care on Saturday. My best friend — let’s call him B — and I dropped into Deco last night for a post-movie cocktail and lucked out on a drag show. I suddenly forgot that I was tired as I tucked dollar bills into low-cut gowns and stroked lusciously padded butts and boobies. I was so distracted that I didn’t notice B slip away. He returned with a frighteningly blue drink and said«Here…try this.» 10 minutes later I was bee-bopping all over the dance floor, humping B and hitting on the sweaty shirtless guy dancing on the podium. The magical blue potion had turned me into a shameless hussy and also made me forget my injured knee, which I danced on with abandon. I woke up this morning with a completely immobile knee and fond memories of how it got that way. When I’m better I’ll definitely head back to Deco for another rug-cutting session. And a few more of those mysterious blue hussifying cocktails.
