I moment of silence in memorandum. This is the first Tuesday in seven months that I’m without a predetermined happy hour. What to do? What to do?

No cover? Cool. Random ass tracks to boogie to? I’m not even trippin.(And I’m talking RANDOM. Joints like Nelly’s «E I»… tell me when the last time you heard that?! smh). Drinks are strong enough and like Nique F. pointed out, they don’t glare at you for requesting a glass of agua should you decide to give your liver a quick break. The best part, I’d have to say, is that it isn’t disgustingly packed with bodies. There’s a decent amount of room for you and your girls to the get that booty booty booty rockin everywhere(Ying Yang Twins voice) without bumping and grinding on things you don’t intend to bump or grind on. I mean, I don’t see nothin wrooong, with a little bump and grind baby(R Kelly voice —- yeah, I’m on a roll with these song references ;D)… just saying the intended kind is much preferred to the gawd-I-feel-violated variety. Also, the crowd isn’t the dressed to impress set which makes for a chill vibe so you can just break your girls off a piece(in peace) without any thatbishlookedatmewrong drama. Not like I would know anything about that o0. To sum up the night, we drank. We danced. We rapped a few bars of the Notorious B.I.G. I would gladly do it all again here next week.

Female bathrooms getting worse. One won’t lock, no toilet paper, vomit, pee, and period blood on floor. Yes. Carpet ridiculously sticky — impedes dancing. Safe for stillettos, I’m sure. But sticky is ridiculous to this level. CHANGEIT. Or put in wood or something tactile. Bartender female made crappiest drink ever, and it was custom. Ironically, this time — music MUCH better. So I’m torn. Would go again, but make sure you’re drunk BEFORE you show up.

Service = okay. The owner is awesome. They ran out of guinness… but he got us some for the Irish car bombs. Prices = reasonable… then again HH makes it better. Shots = pricier. Food = delicious, hot, small bites. Tater tots, crunchy! SoupWich(tomato soup to die for and grilled cheese sandwich). Music = eclectic. TV = two HUGE screens! Overall, a great place for my bro’s 21st birthday! On a sad note, this place is closing sometime near year-end. So get your drink on, now!

$ 2 Tuesday happy hours here are legit. We didn’t stay long cause the place is small and was crowded with limited seating. Lovely décor. Oh you fancy, huh.

No line or cover to get in here on a rainy Saturday night. We totally lucked out and got a sweet parking spot right in front of here. Me and my friends had fun– music was ok but it did kind of smell and feel dirty in this place. Had a few drinks, danced, and then meandered to other spots around the area.

NO. I do not want to dance. I just walked in the door less than 5 seconds ago. And dance WHERE?!? There was literally not even room to walk, let alone bust a move. Drinks were decent, I suppose. Pretty space, I liked the chandeliers. Maybe I just wasn’t in the«meat market» mood that night. We did manage to get into the upper balcony/VIP area though, so you could survey the whole scene. Shady stuff going down openly in the restrooms. I ended up going home with a blob of blue gum on my black leather jacket, which I did not discover until the next day. Yuck.

I came here on a Friday night wanting to just dance the night away and have a good time — not the case. The good news: no line! Got in at about 12:30 without having to fight my way through a line only to find a small bar that was borderline empty. Ok great — no pushing people for space right? No — it just made for an awkward drunken experience of my few friend standing around because the music was horrific. And dancing got really hard since my feet were sticking to the ground… The floor was unbearably sticky and gross — I felt like I needed to soak my heels in bleach once I got home. It didn’t feel like a good environment for fun that night — the crowd was dwindling and slightly creepy looking — ie the guys who stand in around the walls while staring at girls dance … or the guys who stand at the bar alone staring too… The drinks were cheap $ 6 for shots and well drinks — friendly bartenders who don’t leave you standing awkwardly waiting for service. I hope that my experience was just a bad night and that usually better things happen here. Maybe or Maybe not I’ll come back, but I just didn’t think it had a lot to offer in terms of music, crowd, or atmosphere.

Came here for Unilocal Drink Week 2012. It’s right across the street from Rye — great for bar hopping! The venue is small but has a classy appearance. There seems to be an upstairs VIP/private event area that we never got to explore :(It was pretty empty when we first arrived but became packed as the night went on. The crowd was young which is a plus. We ordered Full Boat and Ace of Spades. For $ 5, these drinks are way worth it! The Full Boat came in a martini glass and tasted like peach champagne. Don’t let that fool you! This drink hits hard — just wait. The Ace of Spades tasted like nature. Seriously, nature. 5 stars for good vibes at The Ambassador!

So so, depending on what you are looking for. DJ was not the best… super packed no room to dance and if you get too into your dance moves they boot you out for being rowdy… it’s a club atmosphere right? Anyways, no coat check another downside. Upside two bars, bathrooms are upstairs away from the congestion and never a line. Super crowded by 10ish, not much room to move around if you don’t have a table or bottle service. Service is fast and on point. A bit of a hipster/trendy scene, looks like an attempt at a Vegas lounge…

I love their Tuesdays happy hour here! How can you say no to $ 2 beers, wells, and appetizers??? I haven’t had tater tots in YEARS, and theirs is delicious! I know there’s not much to it, but it just brought my memories :) This place has a pretty interesting vibe. There’s a huge projector screen on one side of the wall with the game on. but there are chandeliers too. and very pretty ones I might add… but then they are also playing electro/trance music(AWESOME beats by the way)… Do these things add up? Whatever, the bartenders are really sweet, the drinks are awesome, everyone’s really friendly… I am just all around very happy with this place! I’ll definitely be back :)

Had a great time with my bunch of international friends. all of us had a good time and enjoyed the food too! The décor as several other Unilocalers mentioned is quite pleasant and very photogenic ;) The chandeliers make it classy, especially if you are on the upper deck/loft. It(upper deck) opens around 8. You may place your food orders if you are here earlier. The only flip is ambassador gets so crowded that you are breathing into each other. We were here on a weekday(tuesday) and were surprised how crowded it was. Game night+cheap booze perfect combination for business. Did I mention that I love the staff who are friendly and v accommodative! They don’t stop taking care of you despite how crowded it gets. 2 thumbs up!

This place is on the border of the TL and Union Square. That said, I was pleasantly surprised by the size of this lounge. It’s not huge but it’s not small. It’s like a low key version of Mr. Smith’s. The chandeliers that decorate the ceiling are quite beautiful. The interior is pretty dark. The bar itself seemed decent. The plush couches are comfortable. Overall, it’s a good place to gather some friends. The music seemed OK. I’m not sure if they charge a cover on the busier nights but when I went, there was no cover or bouncer but it was a weeknight. You can either walk there from Powell St BART or go through the Tenderloin. I recommend battling the tourists through Union Square. I asked to see the food menu but the kitchen had just opened.

Fun… is what you bring with you! Ambassador wasn’t the most lively, dancey scene when we arrived late Saturday night to find a subdued young crowd hovering around the bar. There was far too much chatting and drinking, not nearly enough bumpin’ and grindin’ going on, but we knew there was potential. Plus, there’s NO cover charge — pretty rare for a Saturday night. With nothing to lose, we were determined to burn up that tiny little dance floor, frightened on-lookers and all… The DJ was playing a schizofrenic blend of trance + top 40. It was hard to follow, but we did our best to cheer-lead with winks and fist-pumps and jazzercize moves(imagine that). Eventually, there was some movement on the dance floor. Suddenly, everyone was groovin’ to the sporatically dance-able beat. Ahhh, peer pressure at it’s finest! I always appreciate a bartender who will serve me up a nice tall glass of free water, without giving me «the look». Thanks bartender dude! The space is classy, dim, and fairly small, making for a cozy dancing/drinking scene. They’ve got big gorgeous chandeliers and fancy booths, plus an upstairs balcony area. I’m curious to see what it looks like during normal hours. $ 2 Tuesdays sound like the perfect excuse…

Came here for 2 dollar Tuesdays. It is packed but I think most of the patrons come here to get drunk and leave. There is no place to dance until it was close to midnight where most of the people leave. The music was better at the beginning of the night but got worst. The carpet is disgustingly sticky. The bathroom was never busy but one of the stalls doesn’t have a lock so we females only have one stall to work with. No particular reason why I would come back.

Went to this club for a friend’s birthday. I was pleasantly surprised by the décor and the music. Beautiful chandeliers and nice lighting. The place is pretty small, but it has a second floor and two bars. I really liked the music they were playing on Saturday nights. It was a good mix of the current hits with some older ones. The place was packed! Prices for drinks are average. Nothing too pricey and I do think they have a happy hour during the week during slow days. One thing that I thought was great was that the workers there are extremely nice and clever. Even though the girl worker found someone throwing up in the bathroom, she told her that«I am going to take you outside because I want to make sure you are okay». She could have totally said«You are drunk. You need to get out!» but she totally worded it in the nicest way, which is pretty smart if you ask me. It makes it look like they really care and then the drunkies are less likely to get upset at them.

I am wondering why I finally came here for the first time on Wednesday. Maybe it’s the trek through the ‘loin that deterred me. I came for a Signpost event hosted by the fantastic Alexis and the crew at Datebuzz. This was my second Signpost event and first ever Ambassador experience– and per usual, Alexis didn’t fail her users! I was one of the first 10 who waltzed into the event, incentive being a free drink of my choice. The bartenders were on top of their game and the rest of the staff was friendly and happy to have us there for the party. Given I only consumed Stella, I can’t quite review their cocktail making skills. However, the ambiance is appealing to the eye and the beer pour was as good as good can be. I particularly enjoyed the old school phones posted up in the large booths and the upstairs loft area. Great spot. Fun tip– $ 2 Tuesdays!

OMG i am reviewing a lounge… wait a lounge u say!!! Most of you know that I don’t really drink very often if at all. Its my choice, live with it: P Some of you may wonder why i don’t review Bars, Clubs and Lounges very often, if at all. Well the answer is because i don’t really go to them. I stopped drinking because Fitness is more important to me. I am very big on working out and being healthy. Plus you don’t have to drink to have fun! ;) So you might wonder why i am reviewing the ambassador, well a very good friend of mine recently had her bday party here! The one and only Janice C!!! Y(^^)Y If you don’t know her then u should! Cuz she is awesome! ;). On to the review! Tuesdays are the best reason to come here if u love to drink and especially if you love cheap drinks! Ambassador has $ 2 Tuesdays from 6p-12a. They also have many different appetizers ranging from tator tots, asparagus, sliders, salad and a few more items. The Ambassador is a cool place to kickbackl and have fun with friends. For Janice’s bday we got the VIP section up on the second level. We were on the balcony looking down all them normal, average fools muahahaha. The ceiling is covered with chandlers and they have a huge projection screen which was showing the Giants game at the time. The DJ was playing some awesome beats, some hip-hop, some oldies and some techno. Music makes you want to dance but also chill enough to just chill and catch up with ya peeps. The neighborhood isn’t the greatest but this place is definitely worth checking out. Awesome Party Janice!!! and Hope u had a rockin Bday! PEACE! Y(^^)Y

I will be back! …on a Tuesday, of course! $ 2 well drinks $ 2 beers $ 2 appetizers from 6 to midnight… I wish I lived closer! String beans, Buffalo wings, Fries, and Quesadillas were pretty good. But the Bruschetta, Tater Tots, and Sliders were better. Service was outstanding. I attended a private party on the second floor to celebrate a dear friend’s birthday. It was cozy and intimate, but the floors were sticky! Then by 10:30 pm, we were packed like sardines! Did I mention that I’m coming back? When I do… it’ll be early!

I’m sure a lot of women out there have a checklist of THE perfect man. Handsome. Smart. Funny. Mine started with 500 items on it, including«MUST have good taste in shoes», but I’ve since pared that down to two things: 1. must have a job 2. not gay As you can tell, I don’t ask for much in a man, but when it comes to finding the perfect place for my upcoming birthday, I needed a bar that has: 1. Hendrick’s gin 2. cute bouncers Thank God the Ambassador has both! I know it’s sandwiched between a grocery and a corner liquor store and not exactly in the greatest of neighborhoods, but inside it’s absolutely different. If you’re looking for a place with some class yet still relaxed, this is it. The exposed brick, marble bar, a mirrored wall adorned with magnum Grey Goose bottles and tufted black leather booths is as classy as it gets in this part of town that’s between Union Square and the Tenderloin. If you’re feeling laidback and just want to lounge, even on a Saturday night, this place wasn’t super packed. If you’re on a budget, this place is great for a cheap date. Their $ 2 Tuesdays are famous for $ 2 beers, $ 2 well drinks and $ 2 appetizers from 6pm-12am. Oy. Things are definitely looking up. So, if you’re one of those Type A personalities who has a checklist for everything in life, I’d suggest you throw out your list. You could be missing out on good times at the Ambassador, because you’re too busy adjusting the margins and font sizes on your Excel spreadsheet and what not. What’s that? No. I’m NOT speaking from experience.
