Food was bland, bartenders are fine, but when there are so many great, flavorful places around, why go to a meh place?

Read other reviews on Redford’s Tavern to get the scoop on the menu. My beef is how this place is managed. My first time here, one of the owners the place is named after was casually hanging out telling his over-worked staff what to do, instead of helping out with offering menus, getting water and basically pitching in. The poor bartender, Logan, was plating food, making drinks and serving tables… while the owner just hung out. Pathetic. On another visit, bartender Kasie came in on her own time and took orders and helped out because the brand new bartender, who was on his fist day, was overwhelmed. Turns out the«manager» that day was also the cook, and she fired the regular bartender before he came in, putting the new bartender in a bad spot. Suggestion: you fire the bartender AFTER his shift to avoid the predictable chaos. On the food: hit and miss by the looks of prior reviews here. For my part, I had a chicken Philly cheesesteak(their thing is the Philly cheesesteak) and it was unrecongnizable if it’s supposed to resemble a Philly. It was a mashed up amalgam of chicken, too-salty sauce and gawd knows what else. Just shouldn’t be on the menu. On my last visit I ordered the $ 11 Buffalo wings. The 1-lb wings were plump and good quality, but the cook/manager didn’t prepare them correctly. You ALWAYS toss the deep-fried, drained wings in sauce AFTER they’re cooked. Mine were deep fried alright, but no sauce. I asked the bartender about this… remember, his first day… and he took the order back to the kitchen, where the cook/manager said that they were tossed in sauce. Yes… BEFORE they were fried! Who doesn’t know this Buffalo wing basic? So, I was blown off and a few minutes later, an announcement was made saying there were no more wings available. Hummmm. Hope I don’t jinx this place since there’ve been so many before it in this same location. But I just don’t see this place making it much longer. Bartender Logan is a rock star and takes charge, hustles like nobody’s business, acts interested in his customers(he intro’s himself to everyone at the bar and makes you feel welcomed) and pitches in as a cook when he’s supposed to manage the front of the house. He’s exactly the person you want to run the show. The cook/manager needs to learn the basic elements of how to prepare and execute the menu. I mean, really? How can you mess up wings? This place has so much potential with the location and the basic bones of Redford’s. The owners needs to roll up their sleeves and take an interest instead of telling their staff what to do. Teach by example! What a concept! I love the $ 2 Rolling Rock drafts in a neighborhood where $ 5 pints are considered normal. Put some love into this place, encourage Logan, Kasie and others to take over the management function(and increase pay accordingly), get a cook who knows what(s)he’s doing, and this place will succeed.

We were looking for a nice bar, with some nice comfort food and after trawling through some reviews online — settled on Redford. What a gem! The service was really good, and the food was really really good. We had mac’n’cheese, spicy prawns with wonton chips and the pork wraps. Everything was fresh, flavourful and priced about right. The waiter noticed my drink was nearly empty so bought over another, which is appreciated. We would recommend it to anybody who is looking for tapas style share plates, enjoys a comfortable bar and good experiences.

The tater tots(with kalmata aioli) are awesome… OK it’s really the kalmata aioli. The current special, strawberry basalmic martini, is AMAZING. One night we went was laid back, mostly empty and we had some good conversation. The next night, we had group of girls in tow and the place was packed. There’s one female server that apparently does not interact with female customers, which is only more awkward when you’re sitting at the shared high top in the back, next to a group of all dudes who are getting table service, and your party of ladies has to go up to the bar. #snark. Whatever, the bar tenders are all awesome and personable.

This place is such a sh*t show. Slowest Service, nobody knew what they were doing, the food was not good & came out completely wrong. Avoid if at all possible, so many other great places in SF!

I am discovering my new neighborhood and went to Redford with my girlfriend Michelle L. This place is awesome! Happy hour Tuesdays all day and every day between 5 and 7 pm — 50% off on all beer and wine. — $ 5 well drinks We tried Strawberry Balsamic Martini, Gimlet, Moscow Mule. We also ordered tater tots — yum! Maybe next time I can get it with truffle oil? :) Oh and definitely getting antipasto! Check out the pictures — looks amazing! Our bartender Rey was super nice! I am adding this place to my «SF list»

Came here for the first time Sunday night. It was extremely slow, I was alone for a good while but being in the industry I kind of found it nice. There’s 2 bars; one as you enter and the other upstairs which I think is pretty cool. Chris was tending bar and made me a few cocktails, I mentioned my love for Mezcal and he whipped up something off menu which I thought was cool. A few friends joined me soon after and they were pretty demanding, Chris kept up well. We got hungry and ordered food. The burgers were delicious, spinach dip was different but very tasty. The mac & cheese was my plate & although it looked yummy it was extremely cold but I was so hungry I made due lol. I’m eager to come back on a busy night and see the place come alive!

If I could give half stars, this place would be a solid 3.5. We went late on a Tuesday evening, and it was packed– understandable since Tuesday is apparently happy hour all night. Since there was only two of us, we managed to snag a seat at the community table. We were behind a huge group, basically stuck in the corner. When our server finally spotted us and got our drink order, it took forever for him to bring over our waters. He seemed to forget we were there the whole night. Overall the atmosphere left a lot to be desired; it was packed, loud, and service was nearly non-existent. The food was very good– I got bang bang shrimp and my husband got chicken and waffles. Both had unique touches to differentiate from the norm, as you’d expect from a quirky SF restaurant. Although they were both delicious, the plates were small, and fairly expensive for their size. We paid $ 35 for two«medium plates» and left not fully satisfied. Overall, good food but Redford leaves a lot to be desired.

Not great food with a even more not so great price tag. Drinks can be made around the area, better. Nice inside but the staff is pretentious and thinks they work in the marina. I would avoid except for Tuesday nights.

I bookmarked this place because we needed to eat and drink but within walking distance of our hotel which happened to be Hotel Adagio. The menu sounded great and unique! Should’ve just went to Pearls which was also nearby. The ambiance was pretty cool but the food was dissapointing. I gave this place another star because the staff was very organized, friendly, and helpful. My bf, friends, and I ordered to go because it was packed and we had to meet other people up. We ordered the pulled pork cheese sandwich, tator tots on tator tots lol, and chicken and waffles. The pulled pork cheese sandwich would’ve been great if it had more cheese. I could barely taste it. The waffles were cheap. Seemed like it was packaged waffles from Costco. Same goes for the chicken. The tator tots saved the day with jalapeño ketchup. After a night of bar hopping on polk street, those tator tots saved my life LOL! My review is soley based on food. So if you’re in the area, staying at any of the hotels nearby, and/or looking for a place with good food. Redford isn’t the place. I wished we could’ve stayed for drinks. Because of the very helpful and friendly staff, we’ll come back to give it another try for other food options and drinks/happy hour.

Dimly lot with good food and good drinks– it doesn’t get much better than this… except it does. Because the music selection is also on point. The appetizer platter was amazing– more than enough for 4 people with a good selection of a variety of bites. Chicken and waffles was average, steak sandwich was good, tuna tacos were good, pizza crust was sub-par. I recommend getting the tater-tots, salad, and steak sando. Atmosphere was great, I really liked this place!

Red Ford is a nice bar with a fun social atmosphere. It’s rather small and the space is kinda tight because the tables are quite close day, however even on a Saturday night it doesnt get too crowded. I went with three friends to have something quick to eat before heading to meet with another group of friends. I know this place didn’t seem like a place you’d have dinner but it was our best option last minute while walking down the road. We ordered the pork belly wraps(small plate, no so small) and tater tots. I was extremely surprised about how good these were! They were served with mint, cucumbers, pickled carrots, and of course lettuce to assembly your wrap. The pork belly was seasoned Vietnamese style, with lemon grass and other seasonings. I thought every ingredient came together beautifully! The tater tots were perfectly crunchy and served with an odd but very yummy black olive sauce and ketchup on the side. I am extremely happy that we took the chance to walk into this bar for food :)

Been here a few times and it’s always a really chill vibe. Seems more like the pregame place as it clears out around 11. It’s hard to get drinks if you’re at a table. Servers get pissed if you order drinks at the bar which I completely understand but when every drink is empty and you can’t find your server… What’s a girl to do?

I definitely really like this place! The atmosphere of this place was lively and the bartenders here were quick and was able to serve me waaayyy better than the last bar we were at(the last bar didn’t even give me a drink and I was waiting right at the bar for at least 15 min and it wasn’t even crowded). They have tables on the sides reversed for those who want to eat dinner there, which I thought is pretty cool if you wanted to have a full meal(you cannot eat at those tables if you are just ordering appetizers). I ordered a beer and some tater tots and my group of friends got a table on the upstairs area of the bar. The thing to which I didn’t really like was that I had to wait for my food to come from the place I ordered(in this case, the bar) while my friends were upstairs sitting and chatting. It would be nice if they had like a number order so that they can just look for the number rather than having me hover around the bar and them having to try to call me for my food. The tater tots were nice and crunchy and went well with the beer. Overall, this place is great and I would come back to this place again when I am out and about in San Francisco

Service was ok, not super attentive. Tried the ahi tuna tacos and burrata plate. I liked both but the burrata plate was my favorite. The burrata cheese mixed with the compote on toasted baguette was delicious.

This is one of my go to places for happy hour in SF. There were two occasions we attempted to go in, but they were closed due to private party events. Redford friendly customer service, decent happy hour food and drink selection(full bar & good wine pours), and the price is right. Can get quite full and cozy, but generally you can find a seat at the bar or communal tables. My faves on the happy hour menu are the ahi tuna tacos, tots, half and half fries, and their daily specials(the special nachos are tasty). Chicken pot pie and mac and cheese are okay, but both have a hint sweet flavor, and I like hearty dishes on the savory side. The only dessert they had on their on menu is an It’s It. Don’t get me wrong, I love my It’s Its, but don’t expect much. For $ 5.00 you get a plated It’s It, cut up into four pieces, and some garnish.

Stopped by the Redford after dinner, for a birthday party. Neighborhood felt super sketch. But other than that, no complaints. Lots of room for a fairly big group of friends. There is upstairs seating as well. Friendly bartenders, dark stylish ambience and the drinks were delicious. Something for everyone! I heard both the Gimlet and Sazerac were made well. I didn’t have a cocktail, but cognac on ice and the pour was huge. Generous is always a plus. They also serve whiskey flights at a steal. Good place for groups to gather!

I walk past Redford almost every single day since it’s but a few blocks away from home. Every time I pass by, it is packed to the door, with people smoking outside waiting to get in. With an abundance of bars and restaurants within the same neighborhood, what possibly could people be be wanting to cram inside this small bar for? The first time I came here was right after The Giants won the World Series, and I was bar hopping around the TL to celebrate, like everyone else. I had their cucumber basil gimlet, which was absolutely fantastic. The bartender was getting hammered with everyone else and it was quite a fun atmosphere. I’ve been itching to come back again after that night, but could never find a time where it wasn’t packed. Yesterday, I tried again and saw that there was actually space inside the bar! Woohoo! We started to settle down at the communal table in the back, when one of the servers notified us of a booth that just opened up and cleaned off. Perfect! He immediately got us some water, and I asked him if they had any vegan options on the menu. He said that he would ask the chef and be back. In the meantime, we ordered drinks. They have Happy Hour everyday from 5−7pm and all night on Tuesday! Plus, it was Fat Tuesday, so they were giving out beads to every table and had a fun, festive Mardi Gras Menu! We ordered a round of $ 4 draft pints when the server came back and told us that we can do the veggie pizza without cheese. He said that we were in luck as they happened to have vegan cheese in their inventory for the night! Wow! Who knew a little bar like this would have vegan cheese in their kitchen? I asked about their veggie burger, but unfortunately it has egg in it, but it would be perfect for vegetarians who come here. I went for the veganized pizza and Kyle H. went for the Mardi Gras Jambalaya. The food was absolutely delicious! My pizza was loaded! Bell Peppers, onions, tomatoes, and so much vegan cheese it was getting everywhere! Super thin & crispy crust-just the way I like it. I only ate 3 slices before I got full. It didn’t help that we ordered a basket of fries as well. 2 Beers later and I was STUFFED. I couldn’t eat another fry. I left super happy and looking forward to my next trip back. As for the service? One of the best I’ve ever had. The guy who talked to us about vegan options relayed the information to our actual server, so she made sure all our food was rung in correctly. Plenty of check backs, and refills of beer were brought out promptly when requested. She brought out Sriracha, red hot chili flakes, and everything else I needed to make sure I got my spice buds happy. We didn’t feel rushed, but they were always around when we needed something. I can see service being hasty when it’s crowded, this place can get crazy with its«First come, first serve» seating style. But I will definitely have to stop by again on a slower night for more food and drinks!

Oh Ambassador, I miss you. The last time I would frequent this old building I was falling in line for $ 2 Tuesday, anticipating my grilled cheese/tomato soup, and a long night of dancing to Lady Gaga’s «Poker Face.» The once dark, crowded bar filled with early 20-somethings is now all grown-up. Redford is a lot more welcoming, cleaner, and brighter. I’m so glad they moved the entrance and tore down the dark brick walls. The food has improved significantly. Grilled cheese has been replaced with grilled pork belly wraps and Redford pot pie. They also have $ 5 tator tots for those that are on a budget. Definite Do’s: — Bourbon Deviled Eggs $ 7 — Superfood Salad $ 16 — Giant Meatball $ 10 — Redford Pot Pie $ 13 So-So: — Meat Pizza Pie $ 16, hit or miss. Last time I had it, it was extremely salty — Cheese and Charcuterie Board $ 22. A little too overpriced for the quality and assortment of cheese. — Redford Mac & Cheese $ 10. Not the best I’ve ever had, but it does the job. +4, make sure to check out the specials.

Unilocal was spot on. This spot is close to the trendy Union Square and was just as wonderful as the reviews promised. We swung by on a night where it was happy hour all night! We got wonderful drinks — Moscow Mules — Manhattans — Cucumber gimlet which was good but a tad too sweet And of course food: — The meat pizza was really good. the sauce was fresh tasting and delicious — Ahi tuna tacos were delicious and gladly there wasn’t any of that crappy avocado spread on it — Tator tots. not the best I have ever had but the quantity was quite a bit Bar is nice and big so you can definitely sit there. and it was full but not crowded so it was nice. Bartenders are totally chill. really enjoyed the place. And definitely a great affordable place to bring your date if he/she can drink.
