love the pork chow mein and the hot and sour soup, pre-order takes about 10 min, they need to add lights to their sign and little red balls to their window, it’s such a hole in the wall but really good. a little bit unhealthy but meh, not eating it every day

Love their food! I always order pick up from there since I work close by 1 star out because they might need to add more meat in their plates

Great to go Chinese food that is surprisingly not that greasy and doesn’t leave you feeling gross. Only setback is that it’s a small place with little seating, but hey what can you do.

this place is tiny… BUT the food is always good and the flavor is consistent which is hard to find. I call for pickup and it is very fast and delicious.

King Ling has pretty generic, americanized Chinese food. Ordered the steamed dumplings which were essentially flavorless with a dry pork filling and a sauce that didn’t taste right at all, kind of like beef stock. The chicken in black bean sauce was okay; the sauce was good but the chicken and vegetables felt overly oily. I will give them credit for being quick(they estimated 10 mins and it was there when I showed up) and my food was there.

I feel lucky to have found a great Chinese food delivery like King Ling. It’s always tasty and super hot upon delivery. Also really fast! I love their hot and sour soup, chicken corn egg flower soup and their chicken mu shu. Their chow mein is just the right amount of greasy. Soo good! But heads up, they are closed on Sundays.

I’m not even a Chinese food fan, but when I am sick and cannot taste anything else? This is my joint! Full of flavor and fast. I get mu shu chicken and it’s white meat which is my favorite and wonton soup. I survive on it for days and I swear by this cold remedy. Add lots of siracha :-)

Very disappointing. Ordered schezuan chicken & Mongolian beef lunch specials & mu shu pork. There was no schezuan spices in the chicken, just sweet sauce with a bit of pepper added. Should have been called spicy fried chicken. That was the best item. Mongolian beef was dry and lacked any kind of sauce. It looked like it was cooked with some onions briefly and put on the container. And the mu shu pork might have been OK if they didn’t send me 4 cracked and broken pancakes. I couldn’t wrap one up without it falling into a dozen pieces and making the largest mess. I’m guessing they were frozen and thawed many times to end up like that. They also did not provide me with any napkins(or sauces) and I was forced to wipe my hands on my gym shirt(being at my office). All this after a $ 2 delivery charge too.

Was walking around looking for something different to eat and I came across this little restaurant. I stood outside reading their menu stuck to the window and the prices were great. So I decided to check it out. I ended up ordering some Kung Pao Chicken over Rice. The chicken was delicious but could’ve been a little more spicy. While I waited for my food an older man was eating a noodle soup plate with shrimp and it looked delicious. If I have extra time to eat there, I will for sure get that plate.

One of the things about living in Thailand is that I miss good ol’, stick to your ribs, savory Chinese food. This is a good place for it. On a cold February night, staying in the neighborhood, I ordered pickup from here. I got Hot and Sour Soup and Beef Chow Fun. Good comfort food choices. The Hot and Sour was really tasty. I could taste all the flavors and they didn’t try to burn my tongue. And the Beef Chow Fun was a tiny bit flat, but I like too much salt anyway, so it’s probably good for everyone else. One caveat: the menu on Unilocal(as of this writing) is incorrect. The prices have gone up. What I thought would be a 9 – 10 dollar order came out to $ 14.70. So watch out for that. But still worth it. The portions were much more than I bargained for and I leftovers for lunch tomorrow. Totally check it out. The other reviewers are correct: it’s a hole in the wall. Not a lot of seating space, but there was only one person there when I went, even though they appeared to be happily busy. Must be the take-out destination for the neighborhood. Thanks, King Ling! I got my fill!

This place is literally a hole in a wall, but it’s a good one and spotlessly clean inside its tiny space. I walked through the kitchen and it was immaculate with fresh vegetables in nice neat piles. My usual is the Kung Pao Tofu lunch special. I haven’t seen this elsewhere with tofu. Very high quality and ridiculously low prices. If you’re not feeling great, their won ton is perfect. Giant bowl of clear broth with a generous portion of won tons and some fresh bok choi floating on top.

Quite a surprise and super cheap too! You know how you go to a Chinese restaurant and you really don’t want to order a whole order of, say, Moo Shu Pork or spicy green beans because you don’t want all that food and certainly don’t want to pay $ 10 – 12 for an entrée? King Ling is the answer. Get this: they do the same quality of food as a sit down place, of which there are many in SF of course. You can order noodle or rice plates. You can get your small order of fried rice or chow mein. You can get your small order of hot and sour soup. And no worries –it’s all done in just minutes. The quality of the food is very good: the rice I ordered had just the right seasoning and nice strips of pork meat, and not the nasty bbq porky stuff you get at cheap places. The hot and sour soup I would put among the best I have had in SF. Maybe not at the Chef Chu’s(Mountain View) or Eric’s level, but it’s up there. It was hearty and filling for a chilly SF night and also plenty of it. Over in the SOMA, So does a pretty competent hot and sour soup and it’s cheap, too. But King Ling really excels in getting people properly cooked and seasoned food and they can grab a quick seat in their small place. But this is pretty much a to-go place, at a busy intersection, with cars streaming west on Geary or north on Leavenworth. It’s nice to know that there is a place to find cheap and tasty Chinese eats in SF and not have to deal with a formal seating. Now if you can just find some parking!

This is a sweet little lunch spot. They have well priced lunch combos, which are even better if you eat there, cause you get some delicious soup. So far, I’ve had the sesame chicken, sweet and sour pork, and their egg rolls. Portions so large, you may have a bit left over. Only downside is they don’t do the brown rice. Oh we’ll, for the price and convenience of the location, I can forgo it! If you are picking up, call ahead, because the place is small!

I’ve avoided this place for years because of the shabby storefront, but don’t judge a book by its cover. Or more accurately don’t judge the flavor of chinese food by its grungy restaurant. There are a few tables, and you can eat-in, but I would recommend KL for takeout. Basically, they make really solid cheap american-chinese food. They serve large portions and the food is very flavorful. I’m not sure King Ling is worth a special trip, but if you live in the hood, its some good stuff. I just ordered some spicy garlic prawns so I gotta run!

King Ling! King Ling! Me like King Ling Restaurant! This is likely to be a highly debatable statement I am about to make, but the best spots for Chinese food are found in the TENDERLOIN, NOTCHINATOWN. There I said it, and behold, another gem in the Tenderloin off of Geary and Leavenworth. First off, it has a highly desirable name-KING LING-and it merits the title of KING! It is a place that is easily accessible after hanging at a nearby bar or lounge then grabbing a bite. Restaurant wise, it is small, having about 3 – 5 tables and fitting about 10 – 15 people at most at a given time. Rarely though have i seen this place packed as most people choose to order for take out or delivery. They give large portions for a cheap price and the selections range from Chow Mien, Fried Rice, Seafood, Appetizers, Soups, etc. There are so many options and all come at a reasonable price of about $ 8. After downing a couple beers and several shots of Patron at a bar on Geary, me and my girlfriend decided on some Chinese after starving all day so we decided to drop by here. We ordered from the Appetizers Egg Rolls and Pot Stickers, about $ 4.00 for each order, and an order of Chicken Fried Rice and Combination Chow Mien($ 7.50−8.00). Within five to ten minutes, the appetizers arrived, first the egg rolls which were deliciously fried to perfection and was on point. The Pot Stickers and the dipping sauce was also perfect and quenched the starvation of my food deprived, alcohol filled stomach. It took only a few minutes to munch these appetizers down before the main course arrived. The plates can easily feed 2 – 3 people at a time if shared and we consumed our plates in their entirety. The fried rice was fabulous and the chow mien delicious as well. After finishing we were slapped with our bill which was only $ 23! CANYOUSAYSTEAL! We’ve also had the orange chicken and sesame chicken before for pickup which were Phenomenal and also an added bonus: They Deliver! Score one more for the Tenderloin based King Ling! The food was great, the worker who seemed like the owner was very nice and delivered the food himself. They take Visa and Mastercard so don’t worry if you lack cash! We left full, eager to return another time and were very pleased with our food. I will reiterate it again, the Tenderloin has the best Chinese food in San Francisco, Not Chinatown. Yes, Geary and below is the Tenderloin so I do not hope to hear anyone claim that it’s nob hill, because its not. KINGLING #1!

Review of delivery from King Ling Restaurant via 1. I almost bumped them to a four star. But I just couldn’t do it. 2. General Tsuo’s Lunch Special — First why is this dish either renamed or misspelled on so many menus? Lol, General Tso’s, General Tsau’s, General Tsou’s and today’s pick General Tsuo’s. Or maybe there were a lot of generals in China who liked very similar chicken dishes. By any name, this was a decent rendition of the dish. Like all of the dishes I had from here, it could have used a little zip or they could have included some hot sauce. The chicken was tender on the inside and relatively crispy on the outside. At $ 5.75 it was a great deal. The portion was large and there was enough rice for two or three meals. 3. Szechuan Sesame Chicken Lunch Special — I can pretty much cut and paste a great deal from the above dish. The chicken was good but could have used more heat and other spices. Just like above, it was a great deal. 4. Mongolian Beef — The meat was tender. The veggies were a little softer than I like. I prefer for there to still be a little bite. Definitely for Mongolian Beef, it should have more heat or provide peppers or hot sauce. Once again though, a great portion for $ 5.75. 5. Deep Fried Prawns — These were pretty heavily breaded. They were ok. But definitely not the best fried prawns I’ve ever had. Very average. 6. Delivery minimum a little higher than many Chinese restaurants($ 20). Plus, I’m not a fan of delivery fees. But it was only $ 2 and the prices for the food were great. 7. No fortune cookies. I wonder if that means I do not have any fortune coming up. 8. The lunch specials were all packed in nice plastic containers. Great for eating straight out of and easy to reseal. 9. Delivery was fast, polite, and professional. 10. Overall, this was good Chinese food at very good prices delivered in a timely manner.
