Quiet and spacious corner café that’s conveniently located in New Montgomery and Mission. I always get the vegetarian bahn mi, but I find that the service here is quite slow. Once I ordered and it took almost a half hour wait. It turned out that they had lost my number and receipt. Pretty upset.

Would I’ve ever walked into this place if they didn’t have signs for Vietnamese sandwiches? Maybe not! So that’s what I did. I ordered a combo Viet sandwich. It was fairly good w/​a decent sized bread that was cheaper than most other sandwich places in the FiDi or SOMA. But the jalapenos may be a bit too spicy for some. I may come back and try the other Vietnamese sammies the next time I work in the area.

Came her for lunch after discovering that Sushirito was closed. Ordered a BLT on rye which should have been safe, but was somehow disappointing.

the BEST breakfast food for that run to work after running late from Montgomery BART. every AM i get my Vietnamese Iced Coffee that will put that extra kick in your work day + the egg & cheese bagel sandwich are on point! The Vegetarian Vietnamese Sandwich is SUPER LEGIT!!! if you cannot handle spicy food, then we cannot be friends in life. I LOVE THIS PLACE.

Do NOT order a thai iced tea here. It’s disgusting. I asked for it less sweet. usually when this happens, the tea turns DARKER. Not lighter. I was basically drinking a cup of half and half. BLEGH

Had lunch here today my first day at work. I had the salami sandwich on sourdough with chips and a soda for about $ 8 which isn’t bad! The sandwich was so good. I have a thing for fresh lettuce which luckily this sandwich had! That alone made me happy! They heat up the salami with the bread so that’s a plus as well! All in all, I had a good meal so I will be back! :)

This is my go-​to lunch place, even though to get there from my office I have to walk past about 10 other good lunch places. The banh mi is my favorite, but I have tried other sandwiches and pastries too, and they are all good. They are a little cheaper than other banh mi places in the area (under $ 5), and a lot cheaper than most lunch places. Service is usually fast and always friendly. I’ve here dozens of times and never had a problem.

JUST FOR THE combination bahn mi
To be clear this is just for the one combination bahn mi sandwich review– who knows the other stuff might be good. There are a lot of reviews for their pastries so it might be great.
Got the combination bahn mi and it was disgusting. Iv had my share of Vietnamese sandwiches and this one was very questionable. I was the only person in the shop at the time and it took them about 20 min just to make me the sandwich. Get the food all happy ready to fill the belly, start to chow down and its gross! The «meat» was very gross pasty pink stuff that just the taste reminded me of the childhood horror stories of how hotdogs are made.
I will not return here for a sandwich ill take a pass on the mystery meat.

Just had their green tea boba here and it was the worst. Super sweet, no matcha/​green tea taste. Would not recommend for drinks! Maybe their tarts are a bit better though.

I like this place. It’s basic and straight to the point. Great for a quick breakfast or lunch. The two ladies who work in the morning are super sweet. The sandwiches are made to order. Great for a hot breakfast sandwich!

I work near this place and a co-​worker who’s opinion I trust in food and cleanliness led me to Tart to Tart. I went specifically to try their Bun Mi. My sandwich was fresh delicious and authentic: Crisp baguette spread with mayonnaise, tender not too fatty pork, jalapeño, perfectly marinated daikon and carrots. I’ve never really tried anything else there. I noticed that they have ice cream and pastries and soups, salads, sandwiches. Everything looked good.
The Bun Mi was only $ 5!
As far as décor, ambiance, atmosphere, etc. it looks and feels a little sad but I got mine to go so wasn’t too focused on that but noticed. It was clean! The lighting is quite dim. The dining area is small app. 6 – 8 people max. The table and chairs don’t look very comfortable. There were several people working there so they must have wifi which is a huge bonus.
I have to give this place four stars for the food to go. Might be less if I dined in.
If you work in the area or are touristing around I’d definitely give it a try.

Solid, quick sandwiches and friendly service. This place feeds my bagel sandwich fix for less than $ 7 and without a line.
I haven’t tried their Vietnamese sandwiches yet, but the cakes are scrumptious (if a little small for splitting with my coworkers for birthdays).
Nothing special about this place, but nothing bad either.
They default to American cheese if you forget to specify, but that’s small potatoes for avoiding the tradeoffs at other lunch spots in the area: lines, cash-​only, pricey– qualities you won’t find here!

How are the Vietnamese sandwiches so cheap? Under $ 5 for a sandwich with the works: toasted bun, BBQ pork, pickled vegetables, cilantro, jalapeños. And they are *not* shy with the jalapeños. Since my family is from Szechuan (the mouth-​numbing spice capital of China), I like to pride myself on my ability to handle spicy food. But even I think these peppers are intense! Be prepared to lose feeling on your tongue or shed a few tears. If you choose to remove the peppers from your sandwich before you eat it, no shame. You’ll probably still get a slight numbing taste — that’s how strong these peppers are.
I haven’t tried the pastries or the drinks but everything else looks pretty average. It actually looks like they might buy pastries in bulk from Costco. I hear good things about the donuts, and the apple fritters are the size of your face. But otherwise, I’d say just go for the Vietnamese sandwiches. It’s fresh, fast, cheap, and there’s usually no line, which is rare in this part of the city. Make sure to bring cash! ($ 5 minimum for credit cards)

This is my go-​to place for coffee. Yes SBUX is right next door, but seriously TTT’s coffee is so well priced and excellent quality.
I highly recommend their hazelnut coffee… it’s easily my most consumed coffee of 2+ years living in this area.
Service is always super friendly and the staff have gotten to know me as the hazelnut coffee + bagel w/​tomato & cream cheese-​guy.
I always feel bad because I don’t know if this place gets as much traffic as it really should. I honestly think it could do better business with a simple cosmetic update to the place, and possibly a focusing of the menu.

The place has awesome Vietnamese sandwiches. There is also a handful of croissants and other pastries to choose from.

I picked up a chocolate scone this morning on my way to work. It was around $ 2.15ish and it looked appetizing. But after you eat it, it tasted rather dry.
Staff was super friendly, service was very fast, and prices are pretty fair in my opinion.

CLARIFICATION:
THe Bubble «TEA» is NOT a tea beverage. It is actually a lot more of a yogurt smoothie with tapioca. I had the «white peach bubble tea» and it was very sugary. It honestly tasted like a super sweet fruity yogurt drink. I felt really misled by the description.
The pastrami sandwich on a french roll was pretty good. The meat wasn’t very high quality and there was an excessive amount of mayo (slathered on both sides). But overall, I’d give it 3 starts.
Service is quick and very friendly.

Looks like a coffee shop, runs like a deli. Every time I come here it’s for their banh mi. That stuff is legit.
I usually get one bbq pork sandwich and one combination: the latter includes some pâté, some beef, maybe something else. The veggie toppings (key to good banh mi) are fresh and plentiful: you get sprigs of mint, sliced jalapenos, slices of pickled carrot, and the list goes on. The bread is fresh, toasted well, and has a good texture.
Two sandwiches are plenty for a guy like me — some folks might find one to be plenty — and they run about $ 4.50 each.
This is the best banh mi in the area — some of my coworkers vouch for Muffins (a block over) but they are WRONG, it is nowhere near as good and I don’t know why they’d lie to you like that. Zach M. would never lie to you. Believe it. I met the guy once, he looked pretty honest.

Don’t be fooled by how scrumptious the chocolate dipped peanut butter cookies in a jar appear to be! Those cookies looked so good to me that I had to walk back to get one. I’d passed the first time because it was breakfast time and I felt inappropriate. Later, I couldn’t resist. They kept calling me! When I finally got it though, I discovered that the cookie was hard and lacked, of all things, peanut butter! The taste was flat. I didn’t even bother to finish the whole cookie.

You got to love a pastry/​Vietnamese sandwich spot whose name is a cute take-​off on a cheesy 80s TV show starring Robert Wagner.
Tart To Tart is located just a block away from our FiDi office. I always walk past it on my way to some trendier lunch spot. Compared to all the other places in the neighborhood, this deli is always empty. So that means that a) this place totally sucks, or b) this could perhaps be a diamond in the rough.
Finally the other day, I decided to give Tart To Tart a try. And I’m glad I did. While everyone else waited in line at The Melt or Lee’s Deli or the Sentinel, I was able to walk right up to the counter and order a BBQ Pork Bun Mee. And in less than 10 minutes, me and my sandwich were heading back to the office.
Truth be told, I’m always skeptical of places that try to specialize in 2 very different things (eg Donuts and Chinese Food, or Burritos and Pastrami Sandwiches). And while Tart To Tart’s name would suggest more of a dessert/​pastry kind of shop, their sandwiches are actually pretty good (though not great). While the meat tasted fresh and the bread was warm/​toasty/​chewy, I did feel like they over-​did the mayo. Also, I prefer my Bun Mee with a little more spice. But for 6 bucks, it was a decent, filling sandwich. I’d definitely go back if I needed some lunch in a hurry.
And maybe one of these days, I’ll even try one of their cakes.
