The waiter was very kind and helpful, the food was very tasty.

This is a smaller Indian restaurant tucked away on a corner near the confluence of Chinatown and the financial district. If you go to the lunch buffet everything will be awesome. It’s a bargain at 10.99 all you can eat, and the food while not the most authentic is well made, fresh and tasty enough to leave you feeling full and satisfied. Outside the lunch buffet this restaurant really struggles to put out a decent plate. During the dinner hours it’s pretty empty and the evening staff while friendly, earnest and hard working can’t seem to get a great meal out. There’s some obvious cost cutting measures such as using cans of veg all for vegetables that affect the overall quality. The décor is decent, the walls are well decorated. There is a small but tasteful bar, and the usual allotment of tables. Overall it’s the ambiance is decent, but not spectacular, but compares well with other places close by. This place is a good if not great lunch choice, but dinner? Meh, not so much.

My husband and I are Indian, and we’ve been looking for a good Indian restaurant in the area. We found this place online and thought we would try it out. The fact that there were just the two of us should have clued us in, but we decided to eat there anyway. Bad idea. The batter on the pakoras was raw, the coconut chicken was sour and lumpy and the peas in the rice were raw. The seekh kebabs were decent, but overall the food was not good. So the hunt for a good Indian restaurant continues, this place is definitely not it.

Wow. Pretty flabbergasting to see all the atrocious reviews written on here. I am soo glad I ate here before reading these comments… The comments here can turn you off from eating here but like my mama always said, «Don’t judge a book by it’s cover and don’t judge a movie by it’s reviews.» So I will definitely not judge this place by it’s Unilocal reviews! The food was appetizing and was all you can eat for $ 10.99! The only repercussion that I had was food coma from eating too much!

OMG… hilarious night! Food was OK but wait staff communication was very challenging… received food orders double the size of what we wanted and not exactly what was ordered… hence the communication issue. The funny stuff was: waiter dropped a beer down the back of my friend with no apologies, waiter yelled at another guest when they tried to clean the table to sign the bill receipt… all worth it for less than $ 200 for 7 people. Bathroom… yes just one, was scary, dirty and no TP included!

Food was good, but service was so poor. Waiter yelled at us multiple times and brought us the wrong number of dishes and was extremely rude about it. Rushed us out at the end despite the restaurant being empty. Didn’t smile or exchange one nice word the entire time. Terrible experience; would not recommend.

Food not fresh. Atmosphere old. Order taken by a chef wearing a dirty apron. Staff is very polite and friendly.

I was there for lunch buffet, and the food quality was so horrible that It really got me worried about food poisoning. As a Indian I want to clarify that this restaurant’s food is no way close to any indian cusine, they have their own new cusine.

Great curries and Indian specialty dishes(as close to some of my favorite places in London as I’ve found in the US). Quick and friendly service. I enjoy the experience every time I visit for dinner.

This is tough to rate. We want to the restaurant and placed our order. The waiter was actually confused about an item ONHISOWNMENU! As we were sitting there(we were the only ones in the restaurant), another couple came in. the young lady asked what kind of oil they cook their food in since she was allergic to certain oils. The waiter went in the back. All we heard after that was the waiter yelling at someone in Hindi and the person yelling back. This went on for 5 minutes. Concerned our food was going to come out messed up, we left…

I would recommend their lunch buffet. Its so cheap and it tastes really good! I love the lamb curry and vegetable curry, esp if you mix that with rice

Ordered from this place via GrubHub. The order was on time, but they only gave me 2 out of the 5 things I ordered. I called to get my money back, and they put me on hold, then hung up on me twice. If you want the food you paid for, don’t order from this place. Edit from 1 to 3 stars: Ended up talking to the owner I believe — he offered to give a free meal.

We’re currently stuck on hold with the restaurant, it’s been about 5 minutes. We were really excited to get our delivery– since it says they close at 11 we were a little worried when it came to be 11:05 and they weren’t there. A few minutes later we got a call and my wife went downstairs to get the bag(we’d paid online). When she got upstairs we opened the bag and my chicken korma wasn’t there. We’d only ordered two dishes and naan and now we’re STILL on the phone with them at 11:15 and they’re trying to get out of refunding us. We were excited to try to make this place a regular one for us, but we’re never going back. WOW so we’re still on the phone and this guy is not giving us a refund. He says he’ll call us back tomorrow but they also said we’d get chicken korma.

I was about to enter this place with some solid desire for Indian food, when I saw a head waiter sort of guy… put his finger deep into his nose and give it some royal(shahi) attention at the main entrance… I backed off. A few mins later, when passing the place I found another of their guys digging his nose. So I haven’t eaten there. and prolly never will.

Delicious! I moved here from an area full of delicious homemade Indian cuisine so I made it a top priority to find a good curry place. This place had delicious delicious dishes and my wife and I will absolutely be going again :)

Looks can be deceiving. I’ve been meaning to write a review of Tandoori Majal for years. YEARS. Here’s the thing: I see people walk by this place all the time because it looks empty. Actually, it does sit empty. However, I’m willing to bet it survives on takeout. I eat from this place quite often. First, the food: it’s food is always wonderfully prepared and fresh. My favorite dish here is their lamb korma, handsdown one of the best in the city. Their paneer is fantastic and their briyani is great. Even their basic basmati rice is aromatic. I can’t praise the food enough. Second, the service: the guys there are so nice and professional. Always welcoming, and never seem rushed or exasperated. This is a place not to be overlooked. So stop by and have a great meal!

Lunch time and it is emptied. The waiters here are pissed off faces. There is absolutely no good food here in addition to bad service. Why would I want to come back. Don’t touch the dessert rice pudding you will be forever be sorry!

I’m quite picky about my saag. For those of you who don’t know what saag is, it’s spinach. And honestly that’s my favorite Indian dish. That and the tandoori chicken. Oh and the rice pudding keer dish. This place does it right all the time. So we usually come here as a group and eat all their food. All 10 or so of us. Nom, Nom, Nom!
