The«closed» status on here isn’t entirely correct. The restaurant changed its name to «Raavi.» So it is no longer affiliated with the Naan N’ Curry name. But everything else is still the same: same people who run it, same menu, same prices, etc.

Incredibly nice people and friendly service. Very patient in helping with the menu. And careful with the level of spice. Definitely not fine dining but the price is right and I thought it was great for dinner on the run or a late night bite to eat. It treated my stomach well so I would definitely go again.

I am not picky about Indian food, mostly because I love it so much, but the food here was disappointing even for my low standards. The channa masala was covered in an inch of oil and did not come with rice. Even the Naan — which is their namesake and should have been amazing — was barely average. Maybe some quality was affected by the fact that it was a delivery order instead of eating in, but I’ve had lots of Indian takeout and it has never been this bad.

It’s been sometime since i came back here … this is what patrons can expect: 1) Curry based/gravvy has been watered down. 2) Portions of the meats have been reduced by about one third. 3) Prices have increased generally by a dollar depending what you order. If you are not familiar with Indian cuisine, you’d probably not really taste much difference but overall standards have dropped. We ordered: — chicken palak(chicken portions reduced, the spinach tasted about the same) — lamb curry(lamb portions reduced, curry watered down, literally felt like water was added in) — Ghobi chicken(chicken portions reduced, gravvy felt thinner) — Paneer tikka masala(about the same) — lamb vindaloo(Lamb portions reduced, gravvy felt thin) Doubt we will go back anytime soon.

This location of Naan N’ Curry reminds me of that article in The Onion with the headline«Health Department Closes Perfectly Good Burrito Place.» I mean, ok, so their last health inspection report included violations such as «moderate risk vermin infestation,» «unapproved or unmaintained equipment or utensils,» and«inadequately cleaned or sanitized food contact surfaces…» Ok, so I once saw a gigantic rat run past me when I was walking downstairs to the bathroom… Ok, so all the plates, utensils, and plastic cups look like they were just wiped off with a dirty rag after their last use… You know what, I’m fully cognizant of all of those things. But I still come here anyway. You know why? Because the food here is relatively cheap, the portions are pretty generous, the sauces are actually hot and spicy and not watered down like most other Indian places, and guess what, I’ve never once gotten sick after eating here. So, if you’re still interested in coming here(and your Hepatitis A vaccination is up to date), I’d recommend getting the lamb vindaloo, naan, rice, and either the aloo ghobi(potato and cauliflower) or palak paneer(spinach and cheese cubes). Yes, it may look like the inside of a baby’s dirty diaper, but to me it’s all delicious.(The food I mean, not the inside of a baby’s dirty diaper. Although… nevermind).

We were roaming around the city last weekend when we decided to hit up this spot. At first my bf was hesitant but I’d been before so I knew it’d be good! We started with the mixed Pakora and love it– not too greasy for fried veggies! I got the Aloo Ghobi(cauliflower and potato mixture with sauce) and thought it wasn’t bad. Not my favorite item here, but it wasn’t the worst I’ve had. Bf got the Chicken VIndaloo(potato and chicken with sauce) and seemed to enjoy it. All in all, average indian food but better than most hole in the walls!

This hole in the wall looking chain had one of the best tandoori chicken masala I’ve ever had. The chicken was all white meat and with great flavor and tasty. The naan and roti where both true tandoori style and big. A must try!

Delivery review only, as I usually don’t remember the service when I manage to make it into the FiDi storefront, as I typically roll in here after a few drinks. Food is pretty darn good, and perfect for rainy days! They offer decently spicy food(which is a warning guys: most of my friends can’t eat after a bite of the hot-level Vindaloo). I’m a big fan of their Vindaloos and Tikka Masalas(typically I order lamb Vindaloo, and the Veg. Tikka Masala). The Naan is HUGE, but you need to eat it quick; once it hardens you’re sunk, because it’ll simply disintegrate into your sauce when you try to sop things up. But the delivery guy is always late. Always. Late. So don’t order if you’re hungry, make sure you’re ready for a 1.5 hour wait.

Ahh so good. I crave their chicken curry almost everyday. I usually ask for it extra spicy and am not let down. Screamingly hot(temperature-wise), very flavorful bites of chicken, the sauce is delicious, kind of soupy and tastes oh-so good when soaked into the slightly charred, soft, warm naan. I skip the rice because the meat is very filling. I’ve also had the lamb curry, and while yes, it is very tasty, I am really more of a chicken kind of girl overall(unless it’s lollipop lamp with mint jelly), not just at Naan. The veggie tikka masala is a nice vegetarian sub that my friend gets and I get to have little tastes of it. Careful of your clothes if you take it to go, the soupiness of it has stained many-a-work blouse of mine. The owner of the Jackson spot is very sweet, and as other people said, it IS a dirty place, but I think it gives it a little dirty charm. My thought is that they focus more on the food than the atmosphere, which is not a deal sealer for me personally.

My coworker and I decided to try out this place just to see if it was worth a return visit. NOT. We ordered chicken tikka masala, naan and lamb curry. While we waited, we picked up a jug of water from the fridge and utensils. The food arrived shortly and we were excited to try it. It was lukewarm. Lukewarm! I noticed the meat pieces were evenly distributed in the bowl too. I got the feeling they warmed the sauce and added the meat in but I may be wrong. However, I don’t understand why your meal should arrive lukewarm. Not just one dish but both of them. The taste was mediocre, with naan being the best part of the meal.

Super divey place, don’t bring first dates here. My friend got the veggie tikka masala, and I tried the lamb vinaloo. Both curries were really good! We went in at 2pm and the place was dead. Seems a little dirty, and the owner didn’t quite believe me when I said I wanted the curry spicy like they do in India. However, he made it sufficiently spicy that I really enjoyed my meal here. I would’ve been really upset if they made it like Café Bombay in Atlanta(weakened and slightly watered down spices). The naan was pretty good, but man, naan is really filling. I’d get one order to share between two people, because it comes with 2 per order. Anyway, you pay and grab your own silverware/napkins. They bring out the food at the counter and you come and collect your goodies.

Been here a few times. We normally order the chicken tikka masala, tandori chicken, lamb curry, okra veggie dish, garlic/potato naan & chai tea. This restaurant is a little different than what I am used to. Upon arriving, you go up to the counter to order your food. Get your own plates, silverware & water. You get One free cup of tea per order. Sugar bags on the side. Please seat yourselves! Other than that, I would have to say that the food is A-OK. I would recommend the chicken tikka masala, tandori chicken and okra dish. Quick tip: If you can hold it, do not use the restroom! You do not want the restroom to ruin your dining experience!

People must be confusing this location with the other one, b/c there is no way this place can get anything more than 2 stars… Unkept restrooms should have been my first warning… the smell of those restrooms wafting up into the restaurant is a for sure appetite killer… Do not go in the bowels of this restaurant… you will surely regret it. My brother described the smell as «poop, pee, wetness and B.O.» wtf… gross! Service at this location is horrendously slow, probably because the cook is also the cashier(another bad sign! … touches dirty money, then your food!) and the server. My brother and i came here bc it was close by, and he was starving… i think we should have ventured a bit for another dining option bc even now, as i write this, my stomach is still questioning my decision to have eaten here. We got the lamb vindaloo, chicken tandoori, and chicken palak paneer with rice and garlic naan. Each dish was meh… nothing really memorable. The tandoori had an off flavor and we only ate a couple of bites of it before saying no more. Everything else was very lackluster. We ended up leaving after eating only about half of the meal. Paying was interesting… i guess the cook really, really is not used to using the register bc he had to ring us up 3 times AND he also rounded everything up so we ended up paying more than we should have. Overall AVOID…

I read several reviews before I went, so I felt prepared for the quality of food and level of service I received. I waited until 1 to go, since I heard the lunch crowd could result in a crazy wait. I was glad to find that at 1 o’clock there were several available tables and only 1 person in line in front of me to order. My order was taken quickly and brought to my table in 10 minutes — perfect for a 30-minute lunch break! The prices can’t be beat — I ordered chicken tikka masala, rice, garlic naan and a bottle of water and paid $ 13.50 total. As other Unilocalers reported, the food was not very warm. Not outright cold, but not as warm as I’d like it to be and by the time I was halfway through my meal, it was room-temperature. Not tragic, but noteworthy. I got bottled water because other Unilocalers mentioned the free water they serve tasted funny. The rice was really good, as well as the garlic naan. The flavor of the chicken tikka masala was good, but not great. When I placed my order, he didn’t ask what level of spice I wanted so I was served mild. I guess it’s my fault for not mentioning it, but I forgot and he didn’t ask so whatever. I have to assume I’d have enjoyed it more had it been a bit spicier, but it was still nice and buttery. I’ll eat here again because it’s crazy close to work and crazy cheap. If I were you, I wouldn’t go out of my way to eat here, but if you’re close and need something fast and cheap then go for it.

Just not good. It just comes down to that. Not good by any standard of Indian food. The food was cold, the Naan was ehhhh, the curry was ehhh. I dont think the water was good either. How in the world do you mess up water??? I would skip this place and get anything else.

I supposed if you’re standing ON Jackson and Columbus and all of a sudden decide that you MUST eat Indian food ASAP, Naan-N-Curry will suffice. However, if you can muster up the strength to walk less than one block north to Kearny and Columbus, I personally like Tandoori Mahal better. To be fair to Naan-N-Curry, the naan was huge and probably the best thing I ate that lunch. We also ordered the veggie biryani which was decent; nothing to write home about, but it wasn’t bad. The reason why I only gave this place two stars is because of the chicken vindaloo. DONOTGETCHICKENVINDALOOHERE. It was 5 cubes of chicken sitting in flavorless, slightly reddish-colored, OIL. It was basically oil soup. Oh, and there was one potato floating around in there too. Pretty vile. The one good thing is that it’s pretty cheap. For 5 dishes and 3 orders of naan, we paid $ 42. Still, you can get better food for that price elsewhere.

When it comes to Indian food, I’m a buffet kind of gal. But since I was already full from the crab sandwich earlier, we came here for something light. We shared a chicken marsala with naan. The naan was one large round piece, warm, and pretty average. The chicken marsala, which was what every white person in the establishment ordered, kind of had a sour taste to it that was new to me. It also had a few sparse chunks of chicken. Indian food to me tastes best vegetarian, as the chicken is always too dry. Here was no exception. I usually love mopping up the marsala sauce with large greasy swabs of naan though, and here the sauce was a bit off. Our meal came to about $ 11 and it was pretty much one entrée with 2 pieces of naan and a soda. Not bad, especially since they had free chai(love chai) and had whole hassle-free pitchers of water for the table. Still, I think buffets are better in general because you can try different things and it’s around the same price.

I’ve eaten at Naan-N-Curry many times, it’s a reliable place for cheap & pretty good Indian food. We got: Garlic naan — fine Dal — lentils. Fine, wish they were more tender. Fish curry — not much fish filet, mostly mildly spicy curry. Ok tasting. Chicken tandoor leg — One leg & thigh. Very tender. Some raw onions & several slices of out of season tomatoes. Basmati rice — average. FREE help yourself Chai tea & water. Get your own plate, silverware. My total was about $ 24. Charged it. Bathroom downstairs.

We came here just for a snack since we bought a groupon the same day for $ 1 for $ 10 worth of food. No joke. I recommend you seriously go download the groupon app and watch out for super sick deals like these(usually in the«instant deal» or whatever section. I think normally it was $ 6 for $ 10 but I think it was some sort of credit given for using the deal? Anyway, for a Friday evening around 5:30 it wasn’t very crowded. There were probably 10 people there total. This was my first time here since I usually go to the one on Irving. Not going to lie, parking SUCKS. I guess it’s cool if you’re downtown and everything but I was getting pretty frustrated. We ordered the Lamb Tikka Masala with aloo(potato) naan and garlic naan(garlic, cilantro). Our total was about $ 2 plus the $ 1 groupon = $ 3. Pretty good snack if you ask me. I was even pretty full for dinner. There’s also a $ 10 buffet if you’re feeling hungry.
