I love the flavor! I’ve been meaning to try Curry Up Now for a long while. I have even passed by their restaurant at one point, but the people I was with didn’t want Indian food! I love Indian curries and spices. I was lucky enough to try this food truck while attending an all day conference in SoMa! While we were in line they handed out their samosas. I’m so glad I got to try that. That alone probably would’ve filled me up and I would’ve been perfectly happy. I actually couldn’t eat it all because I ordered the paneer tikka masala. I loved the garbanzo beans and the rice. The paneer was flavorful and the sauces were a good amount of spicy! I definitely want to visit their restaurant and try other items on their menu! They were super quick and efficient which I appreciated. I’m not sure what the wait times would be like on a normal day since this was a catered event!

The deconstructed samosa is to die for! I definitely didn’t need to add paneer and chicken to it — I’m sure it would have been more than enough food by itself but perhaps it’s because I also got a mango lassi(which was also excellent). Either way, solid choice and two thumbs up! Also, arrive at 11.30am to be the first in line!

Tried this at Treasure Island Flea. The naan sandwich was pretty good, but Kathi rolls were bad. It was soggy and flavorless. Portions were small too. We probably didn’t order the right items, I will give it a try next time.(The burritos looks good) Food: 2⁄5 Price:2/5 Service: 3⁄5 Ambience:3/5 Favorites: * Naughty naan wwith chicken tikka masala($ 10) Other orders: * Kathi rolls with beef($ 8) — mughlai parantha(pan fried egg washed flat bread), sliced onions & chutney

Ordered the Thali Combo Platter, and it was really good! The Chana masala is perfect and I should have asked them to make it as desi hot. Would definitely go back to try their other food.

I had the Chicken Tikka Masala Burrito desi hot for lunch and holy shit the desi hot is spicy. Nonetheless, the burrito tasted great with flavorful Tikka masala inside(with garbanzo brand as well). Overall it was pretty filling, especially taking into consideration other food truck portions/value.

If you know what a samosa is, than expect your tastebuds to never return to a typical samosa after you try Curry Up Now’s «Deconstructed Samosa.» This $ 8 treat(+$ 1 to make it a rice bowl) is claimed an inside-out phenomenon! And I can vouch for this flavor blasting bowl of goodness. What you’re receive: Chana masala(a spicy Indian chickpea dish that I absolutely love and am still trying to perfect at home – send me all your favorite recipes!), pico de gallo with chutneys dressed with mini samosas that include your choice of protein: beef, chicken, paneer or vegan option. It’s spicy, well balanced on the flavor, and will keep your eating until there’s none left. The portion is large, this is definitely one meals worth of food or a great dish to split among several people.

This is bad Indian food. My date asked for saag paneer«extra spicy» so the cook poured half a bottle of hot sauce on top of it, which made it pretty much inedible. I still have PTSD from my one bite of it. The food was also served barely warm. This restaurant is living off its name as a food truck. As a stand-alone restaurant it is just plain lousy. If you want good Indian food, don’t eat at Curry Up Now.

I tried Curry Up at the StrEAT Food Park. The menu sounded pretty exciting and innovative, but the food was missing that Indian umph, that special burst of flavor. I found all of the entrée elements to be far too sweet, from the chana to the chutney to the chicken tikka. There was no spiciness, either in terms of spices for flavor or hot pepper spice. It did the trick, but missed the mark for that Indian zest. The food wasn’t bland, but certainly not spiced as I would’ve expected. What was excellent, however, was the mango lassi. The flavor was perfect – just the right amount of mango, the perfect sweetness, and the perfect size for the price. For me, this item is a definite must try. What concerns me is that I asked if the inside out samosa had wheat because the menu made no mention of actual samosas or samosa wrappers, and I am very much gluten intolerant. When I asked, the lady said no, but at the table, before taking a bite, I found the dish to be full of mini samosas, and a large one. Those are definitely made of flour. When I went back up with my dish and asked about it, she still said no flour. Then, I showed her a mini samosa on the spoon to be sure I had the right dish. She says yes, right dish, no wheat, just flour. Everyone makes mistakes, but that could’ve been a very costly one. I would’ve been sick for weeks, at minimum. Some people would be willing to sue over that, had they eaten it, so hopefully she knows now. Upon asking, She let me exchange my dish, but she wasn’t too enthused. Sorry, but no fad diet here. I really can’t eat the stuff, as much as is love to.

Let me say this first — I LOVE Curry Up Now. I’ve been going for years(and bringing all my friends) to the Palo Alto and Valencia St locations. The burrito I had today at this location was really really really *really* bad. Firstly, it was so badly wrapped that when I opened the foil, masala sauce was everywhere, on everything. I tried picking up the burrito and it was squishing around in my hands — I couldn’t even get a hold of it. Not pleasant. Then the masala sauce, which I’m used to being so amazing and flavorful, was watery, thin, and bland. I had to scoop some of the rice out because it was also watery and bland, no salt even. And there were hardly any garbanzo beans — maybe 5 or 10 beans in the whole thing. I have a hard time believing this is the same chain I’ve been going to for so long. Really unimpressed with how variable the quality is if this is what sells at this location. :(

I dropped by here after always seeing this food truck outside of the Target today. It usually has a huge line, but I came right when they opened and ordered my food. I got their special of the day which was Butter Chicken Burrito. It took about 5 minutes and I got my food and brought it back to work. On a side note the lady was very nice and welcoming who took my order. I enjoyed the burrito quite a bit! It has some nice spices to it! I was not expecting it to be so flavorful(might be a tad spicy for people who don’t like spicy) and I scarfed it up quickly. The burrito is packed and it felt like a small baby when I held it back into work. Overall, solid spot albeit a bit pricey, but it’s kind of expected for food truck spots. Definitely recommend the Butter Chicken, but the Masala is definitely going to be the next one I jump on!

Always a line. For me this is a fundamental San Francisco experience. A huge burrito with my favorite Indian dish on the inside, Chicken Tikka Masala. If you do go with the CTM burrito, which I highly recommend you do, you’re lunch will be ready before you sign for your card. I come here often and when I no longer work in the area I’ll really miss this great lunch option.

Curry Up Now was the first food truck I began visiting when I started working downtown. So perhaps nostalgia is to thank for this 5 star review. Who am I kidding? The quality of the food is to blame for this review! When I first dropped in on this joint I thought, «What a gimmick!» It reminded me of Chipotle but with Tikka Masala. Boy was I wrong. The Paneer Tikka Masala burrito is one of the most delicious tasting things I have eaten in my entire life! I can’t go back to Chipotle after having one of these bad boys. The paneer and garbanzo beans are so tasty it’s making me sweat a little bit just typing this. Really unique and well executed take on Indian food. And in the Bay Area, where you can easily feel overexposed to the plethora of offerings, Curry Up Now stands out for its groovy interpretation of delicious staples. Curry up and try it already!

I love burritos, so when I first heard about Curry Up Now I was adamantly against it. Indian food had no business posing as a burrito as far as I was concerned. Fast forward to one day when I was craving Indian food but wanted something quick and decided to give Curry Up Now a shot. I was sold after the first bite. Absolutely obsessed with this place and have expanded my burrito horizons. I usually get the paneer tikka masala burrito but I’ve had a few of their other veggie options and all are pretty awesome. Definitely recommend!

I think Curry Up Now is one of the best, if not *the* best, food truck in San Francisco. They had a much simpler menu the first time I visited a few years ago and I am really impressed with where they’ve taken the business. My fav is the Deconstructed Samosa. What a friggin’ masterpiece. It’s hella royal. I thought I was the only one who mixed chutneys with my curries. Indian restaurants often serve it with papadum, but I find I find myself just smothering it on my other food. Well, that’s kind of what they did here. Well that’s only part of it. There’s a lot of other things going on in here and I suggest you try it Also last time I went here I felt a bit daring and ordered spicy. The guy asked if I had spicy before and when I said I hadn’t he said he’ll put it on the side for me. Good gesture. I ended up only putting half of it in and it was definitely spicy enough for me.

Tried and true — this is one of the first food trucks I started coming to regularly. I love that I can count on them being on Bush on most days of the week. Yes, there will be a line, but this is DTSF(it comes with the territory). The last he’s usually move pretty quickly and I’m on my way. It’s an interesting take on Indian food. The chicken tikka masala burrito, and the sexy fries are awesome examples of how they have reinvented foods with with an Indian twist. Everything I’ve gotten here has been good(I think I’ve had most of the menu items) however, it’s the deconstructed samosa that keeps me coming back. Great portion size with mini samosas Chana masala in a bowl. Its awesome and definitely hits the spot when you want something quick with really great flavor with a bit of a kick. A number of Indian food trucks have popped up recently, but curry up now has created something unique. I usually go between the chicken and the paneer deconstructed samosa. Make sure to get one with a mango lassi and go eat it on one of the rooftop gardens around FiDi. You’re welcome.

I have only been here once but the chicken kathi roll was amazing! It had the right amount of spice and flavor. It is a little messy but feels worth it. I don’t go to a lot of food trucks but this one made me want to come back. I also tried the mango lassi drink which hit the spot and cut through the spice of the food. It is a fairly sweet drink but good on a hot day. Price is pretty reasonable. So curry up and get there!

I used to work at 225 Bush and I would frequent Curry Up Now pretty often! I am a huge fan of their chicken tikka masala bowl! Think Chipotle but Indian fusion. Pro-tip: you can order online and then you don’t have to wait in line — you just walk right up to the counter to pick up your food. Definitely helpful as it tends to get busy during lunchtime!

Meh to Nay!!! Food is good… but whats with the size of the Lamb Burrito Bowl that keeps diminishing in quality and quantity each time I go. Not worth a trip all the way to Mission for such food. The contents of the bowl in the newly introduced smaall take-out box is barely filled to half for 12 $, plus no meat for paying 2 $ more for extra meat. Nice rip-off…not going back again.

The chicken kathi roll blew me away. It was one of the best things I’ve eaten in a long time. I ordered spicy & gluten free, & it was straight up friggin delicious. So delicious, in fact, that I scarfed it down in my car… while I was driving… on the freeway. I don’t advocate doing this, but I couldn’t stop. There’s always a line at lunch rush, so try & go early. These guys are doing Indian street food w a twist, & they’re doing it well. Deconstructed samosas, sexy fries, naughty naan? Ingenious. Their sauces are delicious. I can’t vouch for anything other than the kathi roll or chicken tika masala burrito; but the sauces are awesome & authentic. They give my mom, my granny, & my aunties a run for their money. 5 stars.

TLDR — great truck/lunch option; flavorful, filling Indian fusion for a good price I used to see this truck all the time parked on Bush St back when I was working in FiDi and never got around to trying it despite all the good things I had heard about the chicken tikka masala burrito. Fortunately, they’re also at Friday’s Off The Grid at Civic Center and SOMA StrEat Park by my new work, so when I stopped by OTG for lunch, I decided I finally had to try this truck. The menu is basically all Indian fusion(like burritos, bowls, fries, naan sandwiches). Obviously not amazing Indian food, but for Indian fusion and for a truck, it’s pretty damn good. Not too pricey either and the portion size is reasonable. It’s super quick too; my order was ready in less than 5 minutes. I ordered the CHICKENTIKKAMASALABOWL($ 8.50) instead of the popular burrito because I wasn’t really feeling a tortilla that day. Plus, a bowl felt less messy to eat. I LOVE spicy food so I ordered mine spicy, which they describe as «pretty darn hot» on the menu. I was worried I wouldn’t find their«spicy» to be remotely spicy at all because that tends to happen to me at a lot of places, but they don’t kid around! I still would’ve liked it a little spicier, but it had a pretty good kick to it. The chicken was cooked well and the tikka masala was very flavorful. The rice was a little inconsistent though — some parts were mushy, some were overcooked and some were perfect — but still tasted good mixed with the tikka masala.

The naan is the most attention-seeking, dressed up, warm/tingly on your tongue piece of flatbread I have ever met. There are some pickled peppers they use in their Cauliflower that is certainly not for the faint of heart. But very satisfying and not too salty.

This is one of those food trucks that always has a line, so best to hit this one up at 11 – 11:30am or 1pm. The sexy fries were smothered with their Indian sauce, and I found words other than«sexy» coming to mind as I made a dent in the contents of my little brown box. The tikki masala burrito is what I’d come back for, but with the awareness that its MESSY. I didn’t realize how many napkins I’d need(this is coming from a 99.9% spill-free diner). Perhaps a bowl would be the way to go. Chicken was all high quality(no weird fatty pieces to ruin a bite) and the sauce was rich and filling but not so heavy that a food coma inevitably follows. Bonus: my gluten-free colleague had a couple of clearly labeled options to try. In summary: Get the tikki masala burrito/bowl!

Very large servings! I got the Chicken Tikka Masala bowl for $ 8.50 and was only able to eat a little more than half of what they gave me. The recycled paper box was not sufficient to hold all the sauce and I kept worrying that I will spill them on my shirt. Definitely get naan with it(sold separately) to make sure that you don’t waste that curry goodness! They didn’t ask me for spiciness level and what they gave me had plenty of kick! Over all pleased with this truck and will check out their other offerings next time.

Went to the food truck last week, oh man was it bomb! I had read about the dangerous level of heat that the Chicken Tikka Massala burrito offered, to which I yawned and rolled my eyes, as I live for spicy food. But ladies and germs, hold onto your tongues! This amount of heat was amazing! It’s the building type, where it gets hotter and hotter the more you devour your delicious burrito. Chicken was oh-so tender, rice was perfectly seasoned, naan was soft and slightly charred, mmm mmm goooooood. Get there, people!

Got there around 11:45am, the line was very short. Got the chicken tikka masala bowl as recommended. One of the chicken pieces was really dry, but the masala flavor was decent. Very good chana masala on the side. In general, not a bad option for food truck, but if reviewed as Indian food, it’s just meh.

Decided to give into a lunchtime hankering for Indian food this afternoon. The truck is pretty close to my office so I decided to check it out. The menu was a bit more«infusionesque» than I expected. Opted for the carne naan sandwich, which was ripe with flavor and massive in size. Also added on a samosa, which was a bit bland and twice the price of the ones I get at the Farmer’s Market. The staff was friendly and it didn’t take too long for the food to be ready. Seems like it would be hit or miss with long lines. Food was good, but super oily and a bit too much for me at lunchtime. Perfect for a «hangover» lunch.
