There’s no way that this restaurant is not a front, with service this abysmal.(Not to mention the food) None of the waitresses spoke English and their menu was very deceptive. We kept asking questions about the food and getting blank stares. I’m all about diversity and I am proud that I grew up in multi cultural San Francisco, but if you cannot communicate with your customers, you shouldn’t run an establishment that requires customer service.

All I can say was amazing great food. First place ever to experience dragon roll with seaweed on top. My new fave!

It’s crap. BOOM. done. Ok, I’ll expound… I only went there because a friend wanted to eat after our spa experience(which was also lukewarm at Imperial Spa). I’m vegan so after much searching for the tiny vegetarian section, found an unusual roll with broccoli and cashews and ordered that. There was another roll that had spicy sauce but the chef(?, sushi roller dude?) said it had mayo so I ordered that without the sauce and the brocc roll. I try to make sure that I’m not getting animal products so I asked the waitress if there was anything else in the roll, dairy, egg or meat. She became really confused and flustered and then I tried to say«Is it vegan?» and she said«You don’t want avocado?» She didn’t speak English so it was pointless and I just ordered the 2 rolls. Thankfully only one ever arrived. I asked the guy behind the counter for Sriracha which makes everything better and ate the thing. Not impressed. So besides the waitress being really awkward besides not speaking English and not bringing the bill forever for the really half ass food(my friend’s food looked pretty bad as well and she confirmed it to be) the video monitor was showing elephant poaching for like 15 minutes.

Dirty, horrible service. They gave me a salad the size of a tea cup for $ 5! I sent it back and walked out. The bathroom was worse than a port a potty! If I could give them a Zero I would!!!

In dire need for late night sushi? Don’t go here. My boyfriend and I drove all over town for a sushi craving and were overjoyed to find a place still open late! And lots of free parking! Upon entering, we weren’t greeted or acknowledged at all. There was one patron at the sushi bar, and we had to walk past the waiting area, past the first few booths before one of the people behind the sushi bar answered any of our questions. The sushi chef took his eyes off of the tv for a few seconds to say, «Sorry, we’re closed.» Confused and disappointed, I opened good ol’ Unilocal to find another spot to eat. Wait a minute, Unilocal says they’re open until midnight! Huh. What do the posted store hours state? Midnight. This wouldn’t be so bad except we got there at 10:45! They’re open for another hour and fifteen minutes! W.tf. Definitely not friendly service, won’t be coming back. Except to talk to a manager. What’s worse is we realized we took the parking spot of a guy who had just taken a to go order. Which they didn’t even offer us. D:

The good: Chicken lunch box was pretty decent. The teriyaki chicken was quite tasty. California roll and tempura is a little bland but still alright. But the dinner price was kinda high. Lunch pricing would be more reasonable for this standard. Miso ramen was not bad. The bad: Tonkatsu curry was bland and goopy. Had a few bites and didn’t want to eat anymore. Chicken donburi was meh. Portion was kinda small. Wasnt too impressed but overall seems like an okay place to grab lunch — go for the lunch sets which are quite reasonably priced.

Recently saw Dita Von Teese over at the Fillmore and after the show, my husband, 3 friends and I wanted to get some food before heading back to Sacramento. We wandered up Fillmore and many places were closing up since it was just after 11pm. So we turned around and started walking back to the Fillmore and to the parking garage where our car was parked… Saw Sushi Boom near Yoshi’s and discovered it was open until midnight. Figured we might as well check it out. I had the BTS Roll — a deep fried California Roll. It was only $ 6.95 and was decent sized for the price. My husband had one of the more expensive rolls at $ 12.95– the Rainbow Roll(Shrimp tempura, cucumber, tuna, salmon, tai). Both were fine– maybe not OhManThisIsAmazing good, but definitely good. Since we were a party of 5, the 18% gratuity was added to our bill. The waitress clarified and pointed it out to us when she handed us the bill. Overall I’d say our experience at Sushi Boom was all right. We were thankful for their late hours. However, not sure we would go there during the day or during regular dinner hours with other dining options available. But for later night dining, it suited us fine.

I have never seen such poor customer service. We land up at this place, the waitress gives us the menu. We decide to order a few things, and then order some more if we like. To this, she is almost angry to see that we are ordering 3 items between 5 people. Every 2 mins, she comes and asks«Are you ordering something else?». If you say you need more time, she gives you a rude look and goes away. The food was strictly OK, nothing-out-of-the-ordinary. At the end, they charge us a 18% gratuity. Given the service, I felt like leaving zero tip! When I complained that our menu did not have any such«18% gratuity», she says«Oh, your menu is old». Find the same in my friend’s menu card. She says«that is old too». Goes inside and brings us a menu which has a paper on the side saying, 18% tip for parties of 5 or more. I don’t think many restaurants have 18% compulsory gratuity for parties less than 6. Anyways the service sucked ! Totally sucked!

This place blows! Owner/manager disciplining one of his sushi chefs right in front of me. He wasn’t making the rolls/nigiris/plates the way he wanted. Patron next to me tried one of their specials, she spat it right out, argued that it was chewy to to the waitress. Waitress told her that she wasn’t use to fresh«whatever she had». My sushi was REALLYBAD! I tried to order something safe, Rainbow Roll. It was theeeeee worst roll I’ve had in a while, that includes Safeway fake rolls. Issue around there, is that there is no other sushi place open, besides Sanpo late at night, should of gone there. They suck too, but its better than Sushi Boom.

I have been to Sushi Boom II a few times now, and after last night I will never frequent again. The past 2 times that I had gone in, I had inquired about their Happy Hour menu. Every time I asked about it, they begrudgingly said they are honoring it, but I felt like they were trying to talk me out of it. The first time I went in for Happy Hour, she was upset that we were only ordering from that menu and said rudely«you’re not ordering anything else?» to which I said no, just happy hour. It took a while for us to get our food, NBD. Last night was the icing on the cake. I asked about the happy hour menu, and she insisted cash only(I know.) When I started ordering things that were not on the happy hour, she kept reminding me that is wasn’t on there, and I said I know, then she said«but it’s not happy hour…» I told her I know, and it’s ok. That happened for 3 separate items I ordered, every time. I also ordered a green tea and a grape sake(not happy hour, I know) and the sake we received was about 1⁄8 sake, and 7⁄8 grape juice, and the first pour out of it took all of the sake. I was a little upset about that since I paid $ 5 for crappy grape juice. I still had not received my green tea, and asked about it politely, and at that point she brought out 2(for me and my bf) and I was charged for both of them. The food is bleh, the service is worse. The only decent thing there is the happy hour… and they give you a hard time when you want to order from it.

The place is average but the prices are great. For $ 14 it is possible to get a huge sashimi dinner with rice, salad and soup… The food is ok for this kind of place, nothing stands out but it may be a great pace to stop by to have a cheap and pretty filling lunch. Beer is relatively cheap as well. Regarding the service they are moderately fast and actually I was expecting them to serve much longer then it actually was. They have nice waiters there except for one lady who is really rude and acting really strange!!! She remind me one of my school teachers which totally collapsed all my good impressions about the place… I would still venture going there once again.

There’s two of this crappy place? Seriously just don’t bother thinking of coming here. I’d rather go to popeyes or subway seriously that bad. Don’t get me started on the service… no service no food… telling us they ran out of something after waiting an hour for it… trying to give us free food that other people refused… charging extra shit on our bill which we didn’t order… no refill on water or clearing out our dirty plates… cramped space… JUSTDONTGOHERE!

Wow. Just wow. This place is a dark spot on the global sushi map. I suppose they stay in business preying on people who want a quick bite before going to the Fillmore for a show or something; that’s how we fell into their web. The food was terrible. We don’t go in for those deep-fried and mayonaise-smothered things that a lot of places now serve; we ordered only traditional mono rolls and several kinds of negiri. All of the fish was mealy and flavorless, without exception – and the hamachi had a slightly frozen stiffness that crumbled unpleasantly as it warmed in my mouth. But the weirdest thing about the place was the heavy vibe of internal hostility among the staff. It was bizarre. Objects were not handed from one employee to another, they were either slammed down or snatched away. Everyone had a grim face and a short fuse. Perhaps there had been a recent fight… but that doesn’t explain the poor food quality. I would rather eat at Arby’s than this place. Yes, I said it.

40 mins. for 5 rolls to go!!! That’s how long it took from the time I ordered to the time it was handed to me tonight. I’ve come here a few times over the years but this experience finally prompted me to «yelp ‘em». Mind you, there were only 2 tables occupied when I went in there and I was thinking that I’d be out of there in a jif, silly me… The reason why they get 3 stars from me is because we enjoyed most of the rolls we had, with unakyu being the favorite, those somewhat smoky unagi with perfectly cut cucumbers and toasted sesame seeds. The roll we ended up liking the least is the scallop roll, containing strangely tasteless scallops(perhaps frozen for a while and then flash thawed for the order?). Guess I really should have kept my orders to items that are the usual crowd pleasers. Anyway, the rolls are generously portioned in general so IF I go back again, I’ll order by phone at least ½ hr. before going there for pick up to save myself from frustration. But I won’t be going back anytime soon.

Cheap sushi restaurant that is opened late for those tumbling out of Karaōke joints around the area. This place attempts to be trendy with some music but its hard to be hip on Fillmore unless you are Yoshi’s. The food is decent at best with limited selection but the late hours are great. I wouldn’t come here for the sushi and sashimi. The udons and bento boxes were quite acceptable.

A thoroughly mediocre experience… …we sauntered over after Fat Angel was ridonkulously busy… about 9pm we were the ONLY folks in the restaurant… waitress was new and had no idea about the sushi and sake selections(that’s fine… we all start somewhere)… …but… nothing was offered, everything was begged for… meaning, we had to flag her down for everything… including opening waters, hot tea, sakes, nigiri, and makis…(mind you, that means we flagged her down for EVERYONE of those)… …even the sushi chef(who was a godsend… he is amazing) kept yelling at them to run the food… what were they doing… chilling behind the bar looking at «something»… we were the only folks in the restaurant… if this poor waitress would have had more than three tables, she would’ve been f%cked…she obviously could hardly handle one… the sushi itself was excellent… sushi chef is god… he is the reason they get two stars instead of one, because the food was fresh, lovingly crafted and delicious… everything the waitress got us(edamame and miso) was cold… waitress=bad, sushi chef=great… nuff said… until they burn down the restaurant and make it strictly a sushi bar only, I will never be back…

I need to look at my old reviews before agreeing to dinner with friends again. We didn’t have reservations for the shabu house across the street ’cause apparently they had a party of 100 coming in and the whole restaurant was filled up. So we went to Sushi Boom II by default ’cause we were that desperate to eat something that wasn’t Popeyes or Yoshis. So Sushi Boom was filled up to the max with reservations also but we managed to squeeze in a couple seats at the end of the bar and got the slowest service imaginable. It’s not that we were even hungry but it honestly took about 40 minutes for the first entrée to come out. The entrees didn’t even come out at the same time. One person ordered chicken teriyaki which came out way before my sashimi and halfway through the chicken teriyaki, my other friend’s 2 maki rolls came out. Our drinks were never refilled and the only time we saw our server was when she was talking to her friends at the adjacent table. I felt my sashimi was average, there was no fishy smell and the cut wasn’t the worst I ever had. My friends didn’t love their entrees as much as I had hoped and at first, we all thought it was because we were so hungry but even when our hunger was satiated, we were still disappointed. The servers at this place obviously know they’re at a great location so they don’t even bother serving. I find that incredibly annoying and I can’t stress how important everyone getting their food at the same time is! A word to the wise-don’t eat here if you’re looking for good quality food and good service.

Monday night and we just get back from SFO so we want to grab a quick bite to eat. The car steers us towards Sushi Boom II so we follow the lead. The place looks a little like your typical mom & pop sushi dining place, you really don’t come here for the ambiance. We were quite taken by surprise at the amount of people eating there on a Monday night! However that makes sense, this is more of a middle of the week type of eating place as opposed to a destination sushi joint. We ordered 3 rolls and they were all really good not to mention huge! The prices were really decent too! Definitely see the value in this place. We will be back when we need a good inexpensive sushi roll fix!
