Really struggled picking the number of stars here. Wavered between 3 and 4. Because I want to give good reviews and overall this is a fine studio. The front desk girl was very friendly, it was easy to book on zen res mobiley. They also have all props free to use including mats(though mats weren’t that great and slipped on hardwood floor). I came as a visitor to SF and felt welcome. However, in the spirit of taking yoga and Unilocal seriously: This space is cramped. Very office feeling. Which is actually fine, the TIMECRAMP is what bothered me the most. We had to wait for the class before us to finish. Aka crowded into the room at 11:59 and class started at 12. Same on the way out. No extra space or time to feel relaxed. My other big problem was what I felt was amateur instruction. The flow is pretty basic with a little strength mixed in but my teacher did not describe poses. I have been teacher trained so I was fine but a new yogi would be confused and a few time unsafe. She skipped a pose on one side, realized, but Beverly came back to it, and some times connected poses to inhale/exhale incorrectly. Now, this was just one class. So that was why I struggled to judge. If you’re looking for a quick yoga and this place is near you totally do it. Better to yoga than not yoga! But this wouldn’t be somewhere I got a membership.

First time to join the class last weekend, It was awesome. Stephanie was the instructor for Level 1 – 3 Vinyasa and she’s really good. I sweat a lot and even tho there were some poses that were kind of a lil hard for beginners like me still I enjoyed the class and I will def coming back for more.

Finally made it back to Satori since they opened their new space. I can’t believe I was away for so long. The new studio is beautiful! There are more class options and even more great teachers. I always feel welcome and inspired when I come here. Classes for all levels and interests. I am so happy to rediscover Satori and will be making them a necessary part of my weekly routine.

I’ve been here a couple times and the classes(teachers) are really good. It can get packed so go early to grab your spot. I also appreciate that there are mats to use(since who wants to lug their mat to work everyday). I am saddened to give a poor review but the service level there was pretty subpar. I was in once of the dressing areas and there was a coat hook area and thought I could put my bag on there so i had easy access to change. I WASWRONG. The coat hook hanger(wooden and had 3 or 4 pegs) completely fell off and fell on to the top sides(bone side) of my hands. I was really alarmed and it hurt! I notified the man at the front desk and he immediately scolded me that I was improperly using the coat hooks. Clothes only? PUTUP A SIGN! He was very unapologetic and shooed me off to my upcoming class. Talk about POOR customer service! I guess you have to be a regular here to even get spoken to. I’ll take my business elsewhere.

I was fortunate to find Satori yoga when I moved to the city almost 3 years ago, and have been going to Megan’s classes on Monday’s and Fridays ever since. She is an outstanding teacher and is really knowledgeable about the body. She will make adjustments to your postures so that you don’t injure yourself in any way. Her classes focus on building strength which has helped me immensely. I am amazed at how strong I have become over time, and am truly grateful for how my overall health has improved with Megan’s guidance.

I’ve been here several times(at the old location and the current one). I’d say it is fine for downtown yoga, but nothing I would travel to intentionally. The space is a little weird(it still feels like an office) and they don’t seem to offer anything especially challenging. Everything is nice(teachers, front-desk, area to change), just nothing stands out. I do like that they don’t charge you to use their mats though(especially b/c I sometimes need two since they are thin and the floors are wood). It’s a bit pricey but I assume they got to pay the rent, and booking in advance online saves you $ 2 for a drop-in, so there are some nice little things. If you are looking for a strenuous and sweaty vinyasa experience, you’ll probably need to go elsewhere though. Last I saw they don’t offer any vinyasa classes that claim to be more than level ½.

I love Satori, and I love Andrea! The studio is always clean, and they don’t charge extra to use the equipment and props. The new location has more classes to offer and awesome teachers! Also, some yoga studios have an snobby or exclusive vibe — this one does not. I always feel comfortable at Satori.

Very nice yoga studio! I used to attend two different classes, usually on weekends. Teachers are polite, very pleasant and knowledgeable. Studio is clean. If you don’t have any yoga gear, not even the mat, they will provide it for free(at least it used to be that way, hope they still do that). I had to stop going to this studio, because it’s a 35 minute drive for me, this is the only reason. I’ve also attended one of their workshops. This one was super boring and unorganized… So I would definitely not recommend the workshop but the classes are great!

Satori occupies a beautiful space in a building that is over a hundred years ago. I like the high ceilings with cool moldings and the smooth hardwood floors. There are two studios(one large, one small) as well as several changing stalls and bathrooms. Mats and blankets are provided free of charge. I like the morning Hatha classes at Satori taught by Dastan. He has open studio hours afterwards where anyone can stop by to ask questions and work on poses free of charge. Dastan actually offers hands-on corrections and tells you what you are doing wrong. He helps individual students with poses they cannot yet do without support. In my case, headstands and wheel are beyond my current capabilities, but having the extra support gives me an inspirational preview of what I could perhaps do on my own in a few years(or decades) if I keep going. :P Satori also offers workshops, pilates classes, and massages.

It’s the best yoga studio that I’ve been to around the area. It’s very calm and unpretentious. The classes offered are perfect for midday break from work. I always feel revitalized after taking a class. All stretch out too! I love Raquel’s vinyasa class. She’s very helpful, perfect for those just starting yoga and want to improve on the poses.

Learned Vedic Meditation from Paula Newman @Satori Yoga Studio. This mediation teaching is unlike any other I have experienced. There were four days in a row, each class lasting 90 minutes and an introductory talk. She was through, clear, compassionate and funny. If you learn Vedic Meditation I suggest waiting for Paula. Satori is in a great part of downtown SF. Lots of places to eat after and very clean. Parking can be tricky.

I’m thankful that there is a yoga space like Satori in the downtown Financial District I find it unpretentious and I really enjoy the variety of meditation and beginner classes which are ideal for a mid-day work break. I am only now starting to revisit doing yoga so the mellow yoga classes here have been wonderful. It’s been easy to pop on over during my break and change in their dressing rooms. The afternoon classes are well timed — so I also have time to pick up some lunch before heading back to the office. I appreciate how they have storage areas within the actual yoga room for your valuables. Though I do agree with one of the reviewers that some of the rooms can be on the louder side due to the lobby area being so close-by both main yoga rooms — I also know that it’s not easy to find quiet and big spaces to rent in the Financial District. If you’re new to yoga check out Satori. Trust.

I tried Satori Yoga through ClassPass, and while it got great reviews, it just wasn’t for me. When I arrived for my class 5 minutes prior to the start time, I was surprised to find that no one was inside the studio. For awhile, I thought I was in the wrong location until a few of the other yogis showed up and were equally confused. The studio itself was very clean, and it has beautiful, bright windows. However, the traffic from outside can be very loud, and the bar underneath can be very distracting(especially when they’re cheering on the Giants!). The space is tight, and the class isn’t very challenging. Satori Yoga in a really convenient location, so I would probably try the studio again — maybe I just had an off experience?

I feel a bit guilty writing A-OK reviews, but if there’s any establishment that falls into this category, it’s Satori. Here are things I like about Satori: 1) It’s easy to get to via Muni and /or BART. 2) It’s in FiDi, which is where many people work 3) It has classes all day, which means I can pop in during lunch or right before /after work with ease But here are things that I didn’t like /made me sad: 1) Its new location is just… weird. It doesn’t feel like a yoga studio. It’s like they just found a random office and converted it into a studio. Yes, that’s it. 2) One of its rooms is really small and cramped. Barely anyone can fit in there, and there are no windows in this room. 3) I don’t know how to explain it, but one of the lunchtime instructors was just weird. I couldn’t really understand what she was saying, and there wasn’t much organization. Everyone in the class was just going at their own pace. Not cohesive? On the other hand, I did have one instructor I liked better, who teaches at other studios in the city. To sum it up, it was underwhelming. I can find more places in the city to either get a good workout or to relax. I feel like I couldn’t do either, here.

I’ve tried several yoga studios in SF and the bay area, and so far, I just can’t find anything that compares to the yoga studios I used to go to in LA. I was really excited to try Satori out because it’s conveniently located in FiDi, has level 2⁄3 classes and has great reviews on Unilocal.Unfortunately, I was a little disappointed. The staff and teachers are super friendly and I like the atmosphere of the studio. The classes themselves aren’t bad, but they’re lacking challenge for more intermediate/advanced yogis. Good for beginners or just some gentle yoga though. I’ve been to 2 of Stephanie’s Vinyasa 2⁄3 classes and was expecting more from a level 2⁄3 class. First, the class is only an hour long, which in my opinion, isn’t long enough for a level 2⁄3 class. The general structure of the class was standing postures/flow with some arm balances(crow/side crow, flying pigeon), backbends, some stretching and shavasana. The second class I went to started with stretching in pigeon pose, which I thought was strange because my body wasn’t even warmed up. It also seems like classes in SF don’t like to work on inversions because I’ve yet to go to a studio where inversions are a part of every class. Stephanie is sweet though and provided some adjustments in my second class(perhaps after noticing me as a «regular»). I think she leads a decent class, but I would label it a level 2 class. I’ve also tried Rebecca’s Vinyasa 2⁄3 class during lunch. Again, for a level 2⁄3 class, I was expecting a lot more challenge. There were no arm balances, inversions or backbends, just some basic lunges, warrior poses and stretching. We did some core work though, and I really like that Rebecca goes around the class giving adjustments. Overall, I think it’s a good class for some light lunchtime yoga, but definitely not a level 2⁄3 class.

New studio, new vibe. I’ve been practicing yoga at Satori Yoga Studio since early 2006. What love about the studio-consistently great teachers and a clean studio. Andrea M. and her team have created a beautiful, clean and modern yoga studio. Although it’s smaller than the previous studio, they make up for it with easy first floor access, new construction, air conditioning(thank you), tempered clear glass doors studios, and very clean floors and equipment. I found the smaller studio more difficult to maneuver, especially when it’s mat to mat and you need props that are outside, but yogis seem to be patient if you need to get around. I look forward to more classes. Thanks for staying in the neighborhood!

I rarely get excited to write a review, but Debbie is one of the best people around and she’s also my teacher at Satori. I started coming to classes at Satori, and Debbie was so awesome that I began to attend all her classes. Why I recommend Debbie as a yoga teacher and person: 1. She keeps her playlist upbeat, and relevant. In the past several months we have celebrated Mardi Gras, Christmas, her love for American Hustle, Valentine’s Day, and MLK Day. Her music keeps the class upbeat and fun. She also likes to play songs from my favorite movies: Pretty Woman, Reality Bites, Empire Records, Clueless, and Dirty Dancing. Having Debbie give poetic speeches about these films pretty much makes my life because they are some of the most influential movies from my teenage years. :) She also takes song recommendations, which is one of my favorite things. 2. She gives students a lot of individual attention. I’ve brought my sister, boyfriend, boss, and friends to her classes and she has met all of them(and me) at our exact level. She points out harmful ways I might be doing a pose, and shows me the best way to improve my poses. She also recommended some exercises I can do outside of class to get my neck, back, and shoulders loosened. She’s helped me do poses I never thought I’d be able to do. 3. She encourages students to talk to one another and be respectful. She really builds community in the studio in a neat way. 4. She is super welcoming and friendly, and makes everyone feel pretty excited to be in class. Since I am always coming to her class from work, it’s really nice to come into an environment of positivity. She’s also very present and learns everyone’s name very quickly. 5. She’s hilarious and definitely brings an air of lightness to class. She doesn’t let everyone stay tense, she makes it fun. Honestly, check out Debbie’s classes at Satori Yoga, Bernal Yoga, and SF Crossfit. I really highly recommend her. Classes with Debbie have made me a stronger, and less crazed person.

Such an incredible studio for those of you working downtown or living in SOMA or close by. It’s a wee bit o’hike up up stairs to le studio, but once your’e there, it’s heavenly. The staff up front have always been ever-so-lovely, and the teachers are excellent. Mostly I have taken Anne’s classes — her focus is Iyengar and she’s just fantastic. On the off chances I’ve taken a different class, I’ve only been impressed. I can’t say enough good things about Satori — they also have events as well — meditation, wine-n-cheese, etc.
