When I went here the cafeteria was the place to be if you were on a students budget. Along with the campus center, this was the place to be to just chill while waiting for classes.

There is a diverse selection of places to eat down there and I’m always trying something new and exciting. they have some standard stuff like Chinese, pizza, sandwiches and some others like burritos and cajun.

Decent food, anything that you might find at a college. The pizza is cheap and greasy, but I do like the pub.

It’s my senior year and I’m getting sick of the food, but every once in a while I have to stop back by the cafeteria and remind myself, ITAIN’T THATBAD!!! There’s a good taqueria with burritos, nachos, quesadillas, and rice and bean plates; two salad bars– one Mexican themed with chips, salsa, grilled veggies, various Mexican casseroles and beans, plus, strangely, hardboiled eggs, while the other boasts typical salad bar fare; a smoothie shop that sells Mediterranean arams, falafels, salads, and bagels; a coffee stand with the NICEST guys ever(shout out to Cesar), regular pastries, etc.; plus a grill where they serve burgers, sandwiches, breakfast plates in the morning, and baked potatoes. Then you go downstairs, to where there is Chinese(pretty yuck each time I’ve gone), a wonderful sammich shop that typically runs out of wheat and dutch crunch bread by 12 noon during the semester, an Italian place that serves great slices of pizza and huge, heaping pasta plates, and now, a new Thai place called Tuk Tuk Thai has moved in as well, with excellent curries and lunch specials. Everyone who works in the student center is incredibly friendly and helpful. I’ve gotten to know quite a few of them on a really friendly basis in the 4+ years I’ve been going to State. So see? Procrastination does pay off.

I feel like throwing up every time I eat at the DC. Café isn’t much better. I am on the 10 meal plan, and am trying to find a way to get it reduced to a 5 meal plan despite living on campus. At the end of each week I have a stomach ache and 3 left over meals. I didn’t think the DC could ruin SALAD, but the did. If you eat anything eat bagels, sandwiches from Café in the park, and cereal. The only food that is cooked that I like is the grilled cheese. Make sure the old asian guy makes it though, everyone else tastes really bad, but his, his is quite easily the BEST grilled cheese I have ever had.

good selections, large varieties! Except sushi, but who would want to eat sushi at school? Theres: Chinese-sweet n sour stuff, fried rice/noodles, soups, all the greasy good stuff. Burritos– nachos, horchata, all the sour cream stuff. Soul food– catfish, corn bread, all the mac n cheese stuff. Bagels– BAGELS! they also sell Wraps! theyre like sandwichs wrapped like burritos, and baklavas! falafels? falafels are awful. yuck. Smoothies– DELISH, with cool names like Chinatown, The Sunset, Embarcadaro, etc, and fresh juices! ANDFROYO! ontop of fresh fruit or fruit with yogurt/cottage cheese. Coffee– the longest line there. Salad bar!!! my faveeeee i could eat there everyday. They charge by the lb, so you get as much or little as you want. Burgers-i heard they are good, but ive never tried. Hot dogs– apple sausages! good dogs for $ 3.00 Pizza downstairs– pizza and pasta! one time i found a fly and they told me its an olive… Sandwiches– yummmmmmmmmmmmmmmy. toasty.

I’ve lived in this city to long enough to know it’s crawling with burrito snobs. I know this because I’m one myself, and anyone you meet in this city seems to know the BEST taquerias around, and oh by the way your opinion’s totally wrong. So okay, I get that. In saying that, I’m aware that I may suffer the slings and arrows of disdain from the Unilocalers by giving a taqueria on a college campus 5 stars. But I’m telling you, and I know it seems like a stretch, the El Cabo burrito is one of the best in the city, seriously. It’s hard to believe, but true. Basically, it tastes like many other burritos I’ve had in my life, but for some reason it tastes so fresh — it’s not one of those dirty burritos that have you feeling it for hours afterwards. I dunno what it is that makes it this way, but me and my fellow Golden Gators all seem to agree that this is a damn good burrito. Add to this the fact that it’s only $ 4, and the perfect rest stop between English classes every day. Ah, I miss those days…
