Fun, knockdown, drag out, rock and roll dance party! I came with a gal pal who’d just come out, and she was in heaven. The song selection and mixing just weren’t good enough to warrant that fifth star, but the DJs certainly kept the crowd moving.

Ok, so I been to Rebel Girl, um, twice now, methinks. And this last time was way better than the first visit(first visit = 2 stars, second visit = 3 stars, so we’ll go with 3 stars). The music… sorry K.W., but I much prefer the 100% hip-hop, so I was psyched for the hip hop, but many of my friends were into the 80s vibe(and it was kinda fun trying to guess who was in costume for the 80s, and who wasn’t…). There were a few fudged mixes, but alcohol covers a myriad of sins, so I wasn’t feeling too picky. The crowd. Well. Let’s just say, they couldn’t all have had fake ID’s. So I guess it’s just me that’s older(are these kids even old enough to remember the 80s?). Interesting to note that there were a mix of boys and bois in the crowd – some str8, some gay, some lesbo. Most seemed chill and respectful, so heaaaay bay! Way to be inclusive. Coulda been more diverse, but hey, that’s why we party more in Oaktown, I suppose. Drinks were good, the bartenders were super nice, and my only real complaint? If yer gonna run the fog machine, why not just let folks smoke inside instead? At least then we’d know what was in the smoke…

Rebel girl has amazing music. Match this up with cockblocks croud and it’d be the perfect night… but nay, the croud is just alright. If you’re looking to go out with friends and just dance the night away with strong cheap drinks and awesome tunes, this is definitely your place. BUT if you’re lookin for a good selection of ladies, its just not the best. I don’t understand why more girls show up at cockblock rather than rebel girl… DJs sooo much better on this night. All in all, its still a lot of fun. So try it on for size.

Woah. So I went to this joint for SF Pride and it was bumpin. The lady scene was like LA’s Truckstop(maybe more rockish ladies), the venue isn’t as nice looking but the music was infinitely better. Found a nicely circulated area and danced the night away. The cover during pride was $ 12 which is a deal during this time! Had a blast and will hopefully return next year ;-)

Okay this is an update for 5÷24÷2008. I swear, everytime I come to this venue(the Rickshaw Stop), I get hella poonani, alright? I’ve never felt so happy until that night because I had such a good time. Rebel girl is kickass… Went with a girl I liked and got laid HAHAHA. Strong drinks. I think it’s 7 dollar cover.

Love the music in every aspect of it! love Electro it smells like my Home Town NYC. So not bad for a mashup of good music, believe it or not I was very impress when they spin, yes Spin! Fanny Pack from Yo Brooklyn! So if you love music to move you sweet ass. Rebel Girl is sexy!

Rebel girl, I love you! Great music(self-described as «an electroindierockhiphop80s mashup») spun by DJ China G and guests, gorgeous sweaty girls dancing like crazy, kissing in corners, slinking across stages, and generally having a great time. Strong, tasty drinks, lots of room to dance(and do we ever!), did I mention great music? I only wish I had been here when M.I.A. played last year.

A few weeks ago, I went out to rebel girl. I’d never been, but I’d heard of it. by this time, I was getting pretty sick of girl clubs. I’m just too much of a music snob to go. We got there close to twelve, and I was very pleasantly surprised! Rebel girl is held at rickshaw stop, which is a nice space — an upstairs and down, and a good sized dance floor. The only bad thing is that they need a bigger coat check. It was closed by the time we go there. As soon as we got there, they stopped the whole club to do a free stuff giveaway(free junk). I don’t know why they’d stop the music for that. It soon got a lot better. They play a mix of a bit of old hip hop, with mostly kind of rockish, houseish music. There was a really good mix of Pink’s U and ur hand. Although I was dancing holding my big furry coat, I had tons of fun, the dj was really pretty good. Good music at a girl club is just so unexpected. The girls were dressed cute too; one had a whole easter bunny on her head(this was the day before easter). So, I am still ambivalent about girl clubs, because I love attention and I get ZERO attention at these places, but at least I know there are some that have a better atmosphere, vibe, and music. Now that I know this, I’m never going to the bad ones again.
