Theres a lot of women here which you never see much of since a lot of bars are male dominated so i enjoyed it. Dance floor is a little small but meh whatever. Cover charge is a little too much.

Happen to go on a special night that seemed to attract the biggest, rudest, stinkiest muscle bound asian men I have ever seem. They were swarming the dance floor to push and shove each other. Ugh it was like trying to dance with a bunch of teens on steroids. To top it off the only music played was some sort of electro japanese punk music. Not the business at all! We knew we were in for a treat(sarcasm) when the dj cut off queen bee. But we tried to stay hoping it would be worth the cover she paid for us which was $ 24 on a Saturday night. First and prolly last time we patron there.

Nice bar but it gets extremely crowded. The crowd was a good mix but the night we went the women were looking extremely young. Just take a cab and get something to eat across the way because the drunks are strong. give it a shot will go there again.

Still haven’t found a place that reflects a broad sense of lesbian women in the Bay Area. I wanted to see what this place had to offer and well it didn’t have that. I’ve been to lesbian events all over the world and feel the most uncomfortable here. Strange. There also is a lack of invitation. A friend of mine went and also felt, as a Latina, and a native Californian, this was certainly the last place to call home. So that only leaves me to think were there is an opportunity to create an event that makes local and visiting lesbians more comfortable. I’m not Butch or Lipstick or ChapStick or any plant, I’m a woman who loves women.

Don’t get me wrong. I love Cockblock! I took one star away for the fact that you can’t even dance or move around on some nights. Maybe I only go on special event nights. I just know I always want to dance and then find myself getting pushed over. Drinks are pretty expensive. I recommend going upstairs and getting a beer for the quickest and cheapest. The balcony view is pretty badass. It’s cool that they let people get on stage, too!

Good drinks and good crowd, but the DJ was terrible. Ended up leaving because we were so annoyed with the schizophrenic spinning. Was so interested in trying to do mash-up mixes that you could never get into a song and really enjoy dancing. Get a new DJ or we won’t be returning.

I can’t believe we FINALLY went! We’ve been trying to go for ages and it was well worth the wait. Tons of beautiful ladies to dance and make eyes with and maybe more ;) The drinks were strong and bartenders were great! They made sure to serve us quickly or get help if they were slammed. Music choice was great, mostly trance with some pop mixes thrown in with the exception of a couple songs that had a random slow beat that we were all a little confused about but it picked up again. So if you’re looking for a fun place to dance, drink, and be with some seriously beautiful ladies this is place!

The only positive thing i can get out of this place was there were variety of women from butch and fem, pretty much lgbt community. However, the choice of music was just terrible! I love variety of music from rnb, hiphop, edm, reggae, old schools … but the music they played was extremely boring, and the crowd could not dance to it unless they were drunk off of their minds. Then again, i was quite already tipsy and still disliked the music. The crowd was great but the DJ did not hype them up. Most of the time people were just standing around waiting for a good beat to happen. Unfortunately, many were disappointed. It gets pretty crowded, and the lines of the restrooms are really long. The lines of the restrooms can get so long that women go to the men’s restroom and i actually saw a girl peeing in the men’s urinal. grossss! But i guess if you gotta go, you gotta go. Bartenders and staff are pretty cool, they try their best to attend to the people. Overall, I’d go here again if they change the DJ or their choice of music, but it seems like I will not be returning anytime soon.

I went with some friends for a Valentine’s Day birthday after-party, and I have to say that I really dig cute short lesbians head banging my chest all night. All you have to do if you are straight is ignore everyone else and dance. Usually some interesting people will come by and comment on your moves and how unsocialized you must be to shut everything out. It is an amusing place.

3 stars for the strong drinks, however they can be pretty pricey. One time I spent around $ 200 for me and a friend granted we had 4 or so rounds of shots of Hennessy and Long Islands. The few times I’ve gone it was so crowded it prevented me from dancing. Boo. There seemed to be a lot more people standing around in circles than people getting down to some Top 40 music. The venue is slim in terms of width, but longer than you think. I partially don’t recommend coming here if you have a huge group, because of the crowded factor. However parties of 4 should be fine. The bartenders are attentive as much as they can be. It definitely seems like they try, but there’s so many people don’t be surprised if it takes you more than 15 mins to get a drink. Pros: Strong drinks Cons: Overcrowding becomes an infectious factor that may potentially turn your night upside down.

I’ve been a regular here each month since mid 2011 and I have to say this is definitely the place to go for queer girls. Gay clubbing in SF is usually all guys, and although I do love my gay boys, I wanna be around the ladies too. The venue is pretty nicely sized, and although it gets pretty hot in there, you can usually find a spot under the ac near the mid left side of the room. The cover is only 5.00 before 11 and 10.00 after 11. The drinks are usually pretty strong which I do like, although I do tend to tip a bit more so that could be an attribute, but hey, at least I get my money’s worth. There’s also a little water dispenser and a stack of cups that you can grab yourself so you don’t need to fight at the bar for water. This is a very nice plus for me and few friends, after a long night of dancing and dehydration from alcohol xD. The music is pretty good, I am a Natalie Nuxx fan and she dj’s most times I’m there. They sometimes mix things up and have themes, last month was throwback music, so a lot of 90s. Other thing about the place, the upstairs has a second bar and coat check and a mini game room with fooseball table and one of those carnival ball game thingys. You’ll know when you go up to see it. The bathrooms are nice until past 12 though. Toilet paper becomes sparse if not gone by 1 and the lines are usually pretty brutal. both the men’s and women’s. Although, men’s bathroom lines are a tad bit shorter, but not by much. Definitely love this place! :D

This place is fun until it becomes makeout session after 1am. By that time, I am ready to go. * Also, watch out for slippery floors. It seems to be a common thing to drop your drinks on the dance floor, especially in the MIDDLE of the dance floor. Avoid wearing open-toed shoes.

favorite* :) I’ve gotten numbers from chicks from cockblock but I never call em. Yall are too good for me anyway. Every other chick is hot. Bartenders pour. Music is top 40 and mixed so well that it’s always danceable. Last time Natalie nuxx played some shit that made me wanna tear up. In HAPPINESS! Girls will ask you for cigarettes non-stop outside. You can’t say no because they’re girls. Cute gay boys always dancing/loving on me. It’s a good time.

Cockblock you made my new years eve amazing from the beginning to its end! I came here all by myself and manage to have a great time without my downe crew. It sounds a little bit crazy but, yes finally it was my first time being here and it was well worth the $ 26 cover charge. This place played everything I exactly like all high energy techno mixed with hip hop. If I can rate their music with other gay clubs I would give them TEN stars! All the femme go-go dancers are highly attractive here. And other than that I would love to come back here again for another fun event. p. s. I really love the fact that the coat checker also serves alcohol besides guarding your items!

After dancing at Vessel last Saturday and dealing with a persistent leech, I decided to go to a venue sans straight men(or so I thought). I had a TERRIFIC time dancing & hanging out with two lesbian friends starting at 10p. Note: whenever I go to a lesbian/gay club, I do not invite a group of straight friends to accompany me. I was on the stage dancing until my friend tapped me on the shoulder and mentioned it was after 1a(too late for BART, but luckily J drove over the bridge and picked me up). I never stay out that late and at clubs, I’m usually done dancing by 11p. The pluses: hardwood dance floor, great energy on the dance floor, friendly people, dancing on stage, strong drinks, cheap drinks($ 6 for Absolut Citron w/Tonic) and cheap admission($ 7). The minuses: Music: Top 40’s, 1 Michael Jackson song, 1 Madonna song, that annoying song«One More Time» — the Vessel DJ played it twice within an hour last Sat pm). Rap music with raunchy lyrics in the beginning. Caveat: I arrived at 10p and danced till 1a, so it was bearable. Spilled beer/liquor on the stage: 60% of the stage floor was slick with liquid. Had to restrain myself from my usual dance moves — didn’t want to end up with an injury b/c of slippage. Broken GLASS on benches and dance floor: do NOT sit down on the benches on the main dance floor without carefully looking for broken glass — shine your phone light on it before sitting down). Definitely wear shoes with soles that can protect against glass shards. Straight guys: some of them gawked at women on the stage. Definitely more of them at Cockblock than the Café. Bathroom: LONG lines, so didn’t use it. Misleading advertising: According to the website, $ 5 before 11p, but at the door they insisted on collecting $ 7. Not a big deal, as $ 7 is still cheap. SUGGESTION to Rickshaw — how about serving alcohol in plastic cups and/or have a «NO drinks on the dance floor«policy? Never understood people who dance with a drink in hand. SUGGESTIONS to Straight People — if you are going to go in groups of 4 or more and get really drunk and make spectacles of yourselves and gawk at the lesbians — STAYHOME or go to a STRAIGHT venue. YOU are not Cockblock’s intended audience. On the other hand, there is no reason why straight people can’t go and have a terrific time dancing — just be respectful. EXAMPLE: If I brought my boyfriend there, I wouldn’t grind on him. Also, straight men– DONOTLEER at women. A drunken foursome(2 straight couples) was getting loud and obnoxious. One guy looked at me and said something in a suggestive tone and then reassured his female partner that it meant nothing. I complained to my lesbian friends afterwards that there were TOO many straight men at Cockblock for my taste. I worked up a good sweat. Made me wish I could take off my shirt(one woman did). Saw more dressed up women here than at the Café. I was glad I wasn’t wearing heels — too much broken glass and liquid on the dance floors. Note: Rickshaw Stop is easily accessible via underground MUNI and BART, so I will be returning.

The first gay dance party I’ve been to since college that was fun. We were three queer women and two straight guys. Everyone had a great time. The music isn’t the most exciting, but it’s pretty crowded and friendly and energetic.

I forgot to review this place… we went in May 2009. Shocking. Thank God for bookmarking. :) So I was here for the Lesbian night, with a few girlfriends and a hot gay guy. One of my gender-friendly friends, had one too many drinks, mixed two too many alcohols, and became sick in the bathroom. Which resulted in my sister holding said friend’s hair, ruining her phone, and other fun things. Even though 120 lbs is nothing, drunk and as dead weight goes… she was super heavy and difficult to place into the car and into her own bedroom. And the whole ride home, dry heaving into a paper bag… Yeah, I think it was a good time for us. Music = eclectic, fun, high energy. Lots of 80s’/90’s rock! Drinks =(obviously) strong enough but fruity enough. Cover charge = cheap. Layout = interesting. Big bottom dance floor. Bouncer = funny as hell. That’s all ya need to know. This neighborhood leaves a lot to be desired, but once you get inside, it doesn’t matter… get ready to dance(or pretend to) and knock back a few drinks and maybe grab a few parts…;)
