I’ve been here too many times to count. Always the perfect experience. Staff are super friendly and attentive and the food is incredibly delicious. My go to meal is the chicken taco basket. But the chile Rellanos, tostada salad, nachos, gorditas are awesome too. All their food is great. I suggest you come out to this hidden gem and give it a try. You won’t regret it. i guarantee you will turn into a regular.

Puerto Alegre Restaurant 2 is pretty good. As many other reviewers have mentioned, the vibe here is extremely different than the location on Valencia. This location feels more like a bar, and less like a restaurant, though there are a few booths that are perfect for dining. The menu is different than the other location, and is a bit limited in comparison. If you are looking for a place to play pool, sip on a beer or margarita and enjoy some Mexican food, this is the perfect spot for you. The crowd here is a bit more raucous, which I suppose is the result of the bar-feel. The bartender was also our server and she was very patient, even with some of the louder customers that she was dealing with seated at the bar. It was great that we did not have to wait in a long line to get in, and the pitchers of margaritas sure hit the spot. The food here is decent, but nothing to rave about.

Me encanta Puerto Alegre Numero Dos! This is a hidden gem in the Mission and I have nothing but amazing opinions of the staff and management. Always get the tacos. They even opened the restaurant and fully staffed the bar/kitchen after they had already closed. The family who owns it are very sweet and they are always happy to see our softball team when we come hang out after games.

I might get some flak for saying this, but this Puerto Alegre location has the best tacos I’ve ever had in the Mission. I normally prefer carnitas or steak at most other taquerias but I was craving chicken the first time I came here and have never gotten anything else since. The tacos come in crispy shells with cheese all over, and they’re sooo good. They’re filling but still light so you don’t feel sick or food coma-esque after. I’m also not one for tequila usually, but the tequila they use in their house margarita is delicious and you can even get a pitcher of it! It goes perfectly with the tacos and the chips/salsa you get when you get here. The salsa is also absolutely delicious. There’s another location on Valencia that’s a little more expensive and with a bigger menu that includes fajitas and some seafood, but this is the more local location. It’s a great place to watch a game on one of the big TVs they have, and there’s a pool table and jukebox to get you to unwind as you have a few beers after a day at work. Seriously, this place on 25th and Bryant is a hidden gem in the Mission.

Tacos are super ridiculously good. Drinks were terrible. I also feel like I got the gringo price on everything. Oh well.

First time at this restaurant! We got a pitcher of the premium margaritas and those were stiff — will definitely order those again on a Friday night! I ordered the shrimp tacos and the sauce was delicious, but were priced pretty high. If you’re looking for an easy neighborhood eat, this is your place.

I gotta say I love love love the tacos here, they’re a bit more pricey but they’re absolutely worth it. Their vegetarian burritos are also really tasty. The staff here is very friendly and considerate. This place is one of the mission district’s secret little treasures. Definitely worth the visit. This is more of a locals bar but they do have a decent amount of food for their menu for a reasonable price.

Let’s talk about this highly underrated hidden gem in the mission. Their tacos are beyond amazing. Some of the best I’ve ever had. Not much to them, but that’s because they don’t need it. Simple, amazingly delicious ingredients. Not they have super cheap, strong margaritas that’s made from sweet and sour, but opt for the slightly more expensive upgrade and you’ll get yourself a nice, strong one made from fresh ingredients. Got myself some complementary fresh guac too cause I there weren’t many people there. Even the chips and tortilla shells on the tacos were fresh! Basically, this is the place to go for some cheap, fresh, authentic Mexican food.

Love this place! Just had my birthday dinner there and could not had been any happier. The owners were extremely helpful and accommodating making sure everyone was having a great time. Not to mentioned the food was delicious, wish I ate more but I was stuffed! I’ll definitely be back! Thank you so much!

Spent many nights at the main Puerto restaurant drinking those lighter fluid pitchers of margaritas, lots of broken dreams at that other location. It’s always packed over there, I’ve waited well of an hour to sit there, too many times. We walked into this place and I wasn’t even sure we were in the right place, it looks like just a small divey neighborhood bar. Walked out then realized I had the best possible parking spot already and if you live in SF you know that this alone will make you give a place a second change. Walked back in and sat down. It was like in the movies where you sit down and everyone stops and turns around and looks at you. The nicest older couple in the whole world came out of the kitchen and gave us menus that looked pretty much like the ones at the other Puerto. Ordered a pitcher of lighter fluid and settled into the same chips and salsa I love at the other place. The margos here were similar, but better than the other Puerto. Still lighter fluid, just a better grade of lighter fluid I think. Lots of salsa and chips and a bunch of food and drinks later, stumbled out of there happy. I gotta say, it may not have the address as the other Puerto and it’s a different crowd, but the food was at least as good, drinks a little bit better and the couple that works in the kitchen, totally charming. I’ll be back!

Consider this place 4 stars if you go specifically for their fried tacos and their heavy pours on margaritas. Not that the margaritas were anything special. They were a strange Ghostbuster(slimer) green that later got me highly in-toxic-ated. I appreciated it’s authenticity with drunken old school Mexicans, Spanish jukebox, and cheapish eats. $ 3 per taco? Not bad, but in la la land I can find them for $ 1.50. It also helps when you are with great company and when the coach-like restaurant treats you like you’re first class. Kudos.

Are we talking about the same place? This is a really dirty Mexican bar where nobody speaks English. Either one of the 3 old drunks in front of the bar nor the 2 people behind the bar, who are absolutely not happy to see females or Anglos in their hellhole!

what can i say, i like this place. it reminds me of this bar i used to go to in rosarita when i was in college. now, don’t get me wrong, i like fancy schmancy restaurants like the rest of you, but i can also get down and dirty at a local watering hole. i love to go to a place where there’s no attitude, you get a feel for the neighborhood, you could wear sweats if you want, and wash down the ick of the day w/a pacifico and a taco. everytime i go in there, the same nice older mexican lady with the geniune smile is there, takes my order at the bar over the loud music(ai yai yai yai), and brings it over to my table. and i always have to remind her that i haven’t paid — total honor system here… i first found it when i was trying to find a place for all of us to meet before the Dia de los Muertos procession last year, and it was just perfect(procession starts in the same block…). it wasn’t crowded even thought it was so close. we went again this year. they have a bar and a few tables, a limited menu but just enough, and nice local flavor. but as i said, it reminds me of a bar i used to go to in a warn down part of Rosarito so if you’re looking for fancy schmancy, this is not it, but if you’re feeling open and adventurous, come on in.

i think the last review is talking about PA1 on Valencia. This one is mostly neighborhood folk and i’ve never seen it crowded.
