One of the best quick bites in North Beach. I usually order a sandwich but the salads are very good as well. The new owners know what they are doing and will get my business when I am in the area.

Just visited for the first time! Was hanging out with my Dutch friend who was staying at the Green Tortoise and wanted a reasonably priced bite to eat after renting some bikes next door. Was pleasantly surprised by Petite Deli. The prices were good and the sandwiches were great. I had the grilled cheese with tomato soup. Very filling and tasty. Will definitely hit up this place again next time I’m in SF.

Went here yesterday for a quick bite to eat. The grilled turkey/swiss/sourdough was alright. Guy who prepared the sandwich was the only person working but he was nice. However, He cashed out a customer right before preparing my sandwich and didn’t bother to wash his hands, AFTER touching the customer’s ten dollar bill. No gloves or anything. Have you ever heard of servsafe certified? No postings of food permits visible for customers either. Won’t be stopping by again.

It’s back! New owners, revamped digs. Still a top notch sandwich. Going in, I didn’t know how the new guys(or their sandwiches) would be. I ordered a north beach club on gluten free bread. It was fantastic. On the way home I pulled over & ate half of it in my car for chrisakes; & I make a point to never eat in my car! The always intoxicating aromas of warm bread, bacon, & turkey just got the better of me. Their fridge is stocked w Cowgirl Creamery’s Mt. Tam Triple Cream Cheese. I appreciated that. And there’s their house made pesto sauce packaged up & ready for you to take home, too. Love. The prices are a bit higher, but that’s par for the course, right? And I know I’m not alone in being happy to pay an extra dollar for gluten free bread or some other worthwhile specialty. Young will never be replaced. She was the definition of a gem. But these guys were nice. And they made me a primo sandwich. Like she did. A great soup & sandwich joint. Props for having GF bread, & additional props for getting me to eat in my car. 5 stars.

This place has got to be a hidden gem in North Beach. It’s a cozy small hole-in-wall deli all ran by a sweet and pleasant lady. Prices and reasonable and the sandwiches and pretty good. My all time favorite is the Italian Hero and would highly recommend it. Also for only a one person, she is surprisingly quick and very efficient in getting things done. The only downside to this place which I took 1 star out is that it is cash only.

The tradition continues with Brendon and his brother who acquired this cute little deli from the Korean lady who owned and operated it for over 20 years. From the outside it doesn’t look like much but the sandwich and salad we ordered were both spectacular. Fresh and prepared with pride, this was one of the best sandwiches I ever had. My companion had a Greek salad that was equally delicious. The portions are generous and prices are beyond reasonable. We stumbled upon this place on day 2 of being taken over by Brendon and his brother and from what we can see, they will continue the tradition that made this place very special to those in the neighbourhood for years to come. All the best to the new owners!

Okay, I’m a little bit in love with this place. You know those people that enjoy life so much that their happiness exudes onto everything around them? I don’t know her personally, but my bet is that Mrs. Young is one of those people. She was so pleasant and upbeat, with the utmost politeness. My mood was completely uplifted from the moment I stepped into Petite Deli, and long after I stepped out. Your order will take a few minutes to make since there’s a small work area and she’s the only one behind the counter, but trust me, you won’t mind the wait. That had to be one of the best food ordering experiences I’ve had. Oh and the food! I ordered the Turkey Delight on wheat bread(think cozy Thanksgiving meal with turkey, warm cranberry sauce, avocado, fresh lettuce and tomatoes, honey mustard), and enjoyed every last bite. I would maybe eat this every day. Jumped to the top of my list of local favorites. Thanks Mrs. Young for spreading the smiles!

Absolute recommandation, the quality is excellent, the taste of the sandwiches is a great pleasure. In comparing to other Cafes or Delis, where Food is staying a long time in the display, the Petite Deli offers always fresh made Sandwiches. The owner, a korean couple is pretty cute. Check out this one, five stars.

This is a great place to grab lunch and picnic in Washington Square Park. I got the roast beef sandwich and pasta salad, both were amazing! The bread was what made it so good. Was also a great price for the generous portions. I came around 2PM on a Monday and there was no wait at all. I would definitely return!

I love this place it’s so cute! The lady behind the counter was very kind and friendly, and just overall adorable. I sneezed and she started talking to me like I was her grandkid haha. I felt like I was in my mom’s kitchen watching her make me a sandwich. They are generous with the meat and the veggies are fresh and yummy. Decent eat for a decent price. If you’re looking for a quick and decent sandwich grab, I would recommend this place over all the other overpriced sandwich shops in Little Italy.

Amazing place for deli sandwiches — fresh ingredients and great flavors. The owner was very kind and offered suggestions based on top favorites from previous customers. She insisted I eat before paying, which is quite different than any other sandwich place that I’ve experienced. Great food, cozy place, outdoor seating, and friendly owner!

Tiny(but very good) deli. Sandwiches are tasty and very reasonably priced. Made to order by a super nice lady. There’s seating inside but I don’t recommend eating there, grab to go and eat at the park. Also you can phone in your order, sometimes there’s a line. Five stars.

Beware of the lunch rush hour. I came on a Saturday around 1:50pm and waited about 20−25mins for my sandwich but I was not in a hurry so the wait was bearable. The owner was a nice lady, who kept apologizing for the wait. The place is definitely petite with only 4 tables. I ordered the vegetarian, which has mozzarella, basil and tomato. I added avocado for about $ 0.65. I admit I was pleasantly surprised since i was expecting a regular sandwich which I can make at home. It was fresh, tasty and satisfying. My only tip is to call in your order or come early before lunch if you don’t want to wait. Glad I could support the local mom and pop shops!

Time: 2:15pm/63°F sunny Purpose: Just wanted to make a formal official review for Mrs. Young, she deserves it. Last review was five years ago, I wasn’t working with current company yet. Ambiance: Located on the outskirts of North Beach on Columbus ave sits Petite Deli. By standards it may seem hole in wall, but not close. This is one of those shops that you may call looks can be deceiving. From the outside it looks like a much bigger place to start. Sidewalk seating is simple basic two tables with planter box. Inside is a three small table set up for two with cold case display and beverage fridge. Small corner is use for stacking cases of assorted drinks. It feels like a wedge shape shop. Walls painted yellow green feels dated, but thats what makes it a cute warm inviting place. Counter with order pad, register, tip jar, paper bags is all thats needed. Behind counter all your kitchen essentials basic necessities, feels very home like. She uses a combination of household and commercial grade equipments. Decorations are the least of worries for Mrs. Young, just a couple of family pictures, ads, calendar, and certificates. There are no music or TV here as carrying on a convo can be heard within 3ft away. So if you do want to talk sidewalk is ideal. Staff: Only one lady working there since I’ve been going there. Korean lady Mrs. Young is very, I mean extremely friendly. Always moving around that little cut out kitchen space. No matter if there’s customers or not she’s doing thing to prep herself ahead. Even when she’s busy, she’ll still acknowledge your presence, not leaving you hanging. At times she’ll estimate a time window when your order will be ready. Only an experience sandwich maker would know his/her time. Since 2006 I’ve never seen her get mad or upset, always smiling and thanking you for coming. Cleanliness: Grade A, impeccable for a place like this. Servsafe certificate posted along with health score of 92 plaster below the green clock. Another thing that makes it possible is the patrons, so well behaved as they clean after themselves. Eats/Drinks: NY pastrami $ 7.50 with all fixings on Dutch crunch toasted. Like always her sandwiches are balance from end to end, covers every spot of bread while cheese melted on top of pastrami. The bread was crunchy while the fillers were hot to warm. Bite after bite same great consistent taste with warm enticing cheese and pastrami gleaming at me. She was careful on the mayo too. Not slathering only on one part usually the middle but, evenly distributed through out the top and bottom of roll. She even gave half cup of egg salad left over from earlier on the house. I know she’s about to closed for the day and didn’t want that little left in bowl. Main Features: Turkey club and Young’s chicken sandwiches. Products/Services: Sandwiches-Turkey club, garden burger, BLT, Young’s chicken, chicken/tuna/egg, vegetarian, ham, cheese, NY pastrami, salami, prosciutto & cheese, Italian hero, mortadella, turkey delight, roast beef, salads, soup of day, chips. Half sandwich available/half price +$.35¢. Extra cheese or avacado add $.65¢. Bread choices sliced or rolls-wholewheat, rye, sourdough, ciabatta, dutch crunch, original white. Assorted bottles/cans cold beverages only! Punch Lines: Affordable, minimal seating, no music/tv, takes plastic, homey vibe, quiet/calm, devotees, better than your average, old-world service, pleasing flavors, drool worthy, budget watchers, impeccable service, well-prepared, zippy service, best cheap eats around, always a homerun, can’t go wrong, casual and delicious, crowd pleasing, kept its standards, no combo deals. Tradeoffs: Sandwiches are from $ 5 – 8.25 at most for a full sandwich and some. You can’t even get half a sandwich for that price at some places close by. Final Thoughts: I’ve call this spot my secret spot for years. Mrs. Young treats everyone in neighborhood with respect. People would return favors by word of mouth and patronizing her place as often as they can. That’s how relationships get started and business grows on it. I’m known for helping her lifting cases of drinks, too heavy for her. Even on days when I walk by, I ask if she needs help. That’s one business that will keep its tradition while other come and go.

Solid, fast sandwiches. I gave this place 3 stars instead of 4 because although the sandwiches are good, they are nothing special. The owner is the sweetest little lady, great customer service and quick(it is only her in the back). I do not think there is much more to say about this place. If you’re in the area and feel like a sandwich, but don’t wanna trek somewhere better, this will hit the spot.

AVOIDTHETOURISTTRAPS! It may be a bit of a trek depending on where you might be in North Beach or if you’re at Pier 39, but Petite Deli is worth the walk. Affordable and delicious; the Turkey Delight is the best sandwich I’ve had in a long time. Young is wonderful and a super sweet lady!

Nice story :)
