I had been to the old Palermo before and really enjoyed the sandwiches there but they recently changed ownership. While the décor and layout was much better, the food was very bland. I miss the savory food and am sorry to see the changes.

Vince ran a restauraunt a block away with the best chickens you could ask for. When he decided to open shop and make a deli I was saddened that I couldn’t eat his chickens any longer. His deli is great and the regret of losing«Polermo’s» was washed away by a new love of Polermo Delicatessen.

Their chicken Pizzaiola was friggin’ good. The chicken was nice and thickly battered but I was wishing for some more kick in the sauce or some sauteed garlic. The counter guy was friendly. But $ 9.20 for a sandwich to go? Wow. Pricey.

Great food, great sandwiches, funny guys! The Arancini — looks like an orange — saffron rice with cheese& meat and peas inside — makes a great meal.

Yummy! I love Palermo. I love that they are open on Sundays, when Molanari’s is closed. It’s close to the park, they have lots of fresh goodies, are super fast and friendly, and make a yummy sandwhich on foccacia(or your other preferred roll). I always get a side of their macaroni salad as well. mmm…going there now… EDIT: Two words: RICEBALL (Aranchini)

Parma Special on Ciabatta($ 7.50) — prosciutto, fresh mozzarella, lettuce, tomato, olive oil with some added pepper and oregano. Really good for a quick to-go sandwich, and easily better than Molinari’s in both service and quality… Update: Three words — San Francisco Pride (the best sandwich i’ve had in a long long time)

I tried the Mortadella sandwich on dutch crunch and I was not as excited as Nat H. I really wanted to like it but it just didn’t do it for me. Just a boring Bologna sandwich on a not very crunchy Dutch Crunch-so disappointed since I walked all the way from the Unilocal office(down on Mission St) to here starving! Sandwich $ 6 or so. The owners were nice enough to me. It’s a small shop with 2 small tables outside. They take Credit Card! They are next to Restaurant La Felce on Stockton(cross street Union) in North Beach. I might go back since I know they are open on Sun. cuz I was on a city walk once and some people got sandwiches here. I might try the meatball sandwich next time I’m in the area.
