So, so great. I stopped in here on Mother’s Day thinking I might supplement my gift for Mom with a bouquet. All I had to say was that my mom would probably like the pink daisies they had out in the shop and within (no joke) 10 minutes, was presented with the most beautiful bouquet I’ve ever seen. The two florists were both welcoming and friendly even though I was wandering in on what is probably one of their busiest days of the year, and the price was totally reasonable for the stunning flowers I walked out with. Will absolutely be back!

For $ 50 I expected a better bouquet of flowers. The lilac and hydrangea didn’t look fresh. Probably, it was not a good idea to order it by phone. Also, I asked to send a picture of bouquet before delivery but they forgot. And, unfortunately, it was not delivered at 10.30 a.m. as I asked, so my mom will see the flowers only in the evening.

Been here many times for my girlfriend. Everytime I have been helped by Annette, she is amazing. Straight to business and she is very knowledgeable and her suggestions are awesome. I don’t know anything about flowers but whenever I am helped by her the result is always great. They can get flowers that no one else has and I absolutely recommend this florist to anyone in San Francisco!

I met with Annette to get an estimate and design consult for my upcoming second wedding. She understood my vision right away and I was so impressed with her ideas, not to mention her amazingly detailed note-​taking! The ONLY reason I am not going with Petals is because we decided on a different (peninsula) venue for our reception so it makes more sense for us to go with someone local to the venue. I highly recommend her to all, and my fiancé now knows where he will get the loveliest flowers for me for all occasions. Thank you Annette and team!

Petals made our wedding extraordinary! The flower arrangements hanging from large columns near the altar as well as on the tables for the wedding reception were ALL BEAUTIFUL and PERFECT. They were an integral part of making our pictures amazing. We just wish we could have had those flowers forever! Annette was very patient dealing with our initial indecision and especially with our last minute changes and needs. Thank you, Petals, for helping to make our wedding so memorable!

I cannot rave enough about Annette and her amazing floral design. I use her for all occasions– my wedding, holidays, gifts, baby showers, and funerals. She knows how to deal with the different players for all occasions and bring out the best results and work with you on the budget you have. She is passionate about the design and it comes out in the colors and style that is breathtaking.

Petals on West Portal was our wedding florist, and it was such a treat to work with someone so thorough, detail oriented, professional, and lovely.
Annette took down a lot of notes when we sat down a few months before our wedding. She provided us with a (VERY) reasonable flat quote based on the size and number of floral arrangements. Then we met with her again few weeks before the wedding to finalize everything. She was so down to earth, easy to talk to, and open minded. She was able to articulate exactly what I envisioned and created arrangements more spectacular than I could have imagined.
When she delivered my bouquet, I cried! She greeted me with a hug and I genuinely felt she was so happy to be a part of making our day special. The unique boutonnières she created were the perfect blend of quirky, funky, and whimsical.
Everything was absolutely perfect and even more beautiful than I expected. She answered all of my questions along the way as the planning process continued, and even changed a few things just weeks before the big day. The value was exceptional, and I would highly recommend her services to anyone planning a wedding.

Annette’s Flowers transformed our wedding! Prior to the big date, we sat down several times to go over the details of the proposal encompassing the theme, colors, types of flowers, etc. She offered creative and unique ideas to choose from and carefully listened and carried out the details of my requests.
Additionally, Annette helped to come up with ways to re-​purpose the ceremony flowers for the reception and cocktail hour, which helped to get the most for my budget. I can write pages about all the amazing pieces she put together in a very beautiful and cohesive manner. Everything was stunning: the centerpieces, arch, florets for all the happy vendors (i.e. cake décor), even hand-​weaved flower corsage bracelets for Mothers of Bride/​Groom.
But my favorite by far was my Bridal Bouquet. It was the most beautiful bouquet I have ever seen and can’t wait to get pics to post. I highly recommend coming to her store to be blown away by her spectacular arrangements!

The florist at Petals is very creative and sensitive to the needs of her customers and the occasions that they are celebrating. Our family loves this flower shop and today I received three bouquets from my children who did not realize they were all sending flowers. Each arrangement was absolutely unique… One with large fragrant pink roses and sweet lilies another bright and bold sunflowers and the third is a gorgeous combination of peonies and hydrangeas… Just beautiful & very special.

Annette is great I always trust her in giving me the best quality flowers in the market … love her Calla lilies flowers defiantly recomed this place her flowers always takes my gf breth away !!!

Annette did a terrific job with the flowers for our wedding.
I had been getting flowers from the Petals shop for birthdays and anniversaries and have always liked Annette’s designs. So I naturally went to Annette when we were planning for our wedding reception at the San Francisco zoo.
We asked Annette for a bolder, non-​traditional color palette and we mentioned that we liked anthuriums, lime-​green cymbidiums, artichokes, banksias, etc. We also asked for a boutonnière with succulents. Annette asked for a budget and then made further recommendations to show us which flowers might work.
We couldn’t be more delighted with the results. The arrangements were vibrant, exotic, and memorable. Everyone at the reception raved about them.
Annette was a joy to work with and we really appreciate how she helped make our wedding so special.

So my daughter went into the flower shop based solely on the place’s name. Can’t blame her. Petals is a cute name for a flower shop. It was this place she wanted to buy her flowers for a lei she was going to make.
She and I went to the florist. I spoke with the woman at the counter and told her what we wanted to do. She said we could only make lei with carnations and orchids and she didn’t have any of those. I told her that the method we were using for making lei we could use just about any kind of flower. She said she had nothing to sell me. I asked her if she had any loose flowers. She dismissed me by waving towards a bunch of hydrangeas and said «we are very busy, this is all we have.»
I walked out and will never go back.
My daughter and I walked over to West Portal Floral Company and found what we needed, and then some.

I got married in April 2014, and had the pleasure of working with Annette. She listened to everything I had to say, confirmed that what I said I wanted was actually what I wanted, and did everything with respect to the tight budget I set. The bridal bouquets, centerpieces, corsages, and boutineers were all absolutely amazing. She even delivered to the venue and set the centerpieces up, as well as decorated our wedding cake. I would definitely recommend her for any event!

I write this with mixed emotions. On one hand, I think Annette and her flower shop is lovely. She is sweet, demonstrates great customer service, and clearly really loves all things flowers. On the other hand, I am not sure she was the right florist for our wedding in August. It may very well be vision misalignment.

I remember the first time I met her for a floral quote for our wedding, she gave me a little parting gift. That was very sweet of her to do.
She definitely works within the budget you give her and she will recommend other avenues to secure less costly items (i.e. flower petals for the ceremony).
She and her team works very hard to finish a job. I often see her when it’s past her shop closure times. And she was willing to go hunting for a different colored vase than I originally asked for.
Where we didn’t see eye to eye…
No matter how much I insisted on a vintage/​pastel vision, I just don’t think she ended up getting there. Yes. She worked within budget, but my centerpieces were more green than blush pink. It just didn’t go with the rest of my table setting that day.
I really liked my bridesmaid bouquets, the groomsmen and grooms boutineers, but my bouquet again didn’t go with the color scheme. The pink was a little too bright and deep. The veronicas were too bright and floppy within an hour.
I will mentioned that I sent specific photos via email and in person to hopefully match my vision.
I don’t have another wedding to do, but I much preferred the ceremony flowers my bridesmaids and i put together… We went to the SF Flower Market (Wednesdays are the best days) and purchased 100 dollars worth of flowers to make 10 jars worth of ceremony flowers to hang.
I’m really sorry Annette. I think for the right person you are a great florist. But we just couldn’t communicate effectively.

THE MOST EYE-​CATCHING AND BEAUTIFULLY HANDCRAFTED FLORAL ARRANGEMENTS!
On Mother’s Day, 5.8.11, I was in a frantic rush to find a floral shop that was open on Sundays. A quick search on Unilocal lead me to Petals A Flower Studio (
) which is now actually called Handful of Petals. I called and the nice gentleman on the phone told me they closed at 5 PM but they were running out of flowers so that I should come in before then.
That day, I walked into Handful of Petals at 1:30 PM and was greeted by a woman who led me to Jim, one of the floral designers who would be helping me. He told me they were pretty much out of everything which made me extremely nervous as a lot of other flower shops were closed and there was no way I was going to resort to Costco to deal with the madness there. However, after a quick glance of the beautiful bouquets/​arrangements waiting to be picked up, I had confidence that he would be able to arrange something just as beautiful with the little they have left.
I needed two bouquets for Mother’s Day, one for my Mother and one for my Step-​Mother. Jim asked what color schemes and what my budget was and began working on order. As I saw him walk to different areas on the store picking up individual pieces and intricately placing the pieces together, I knew I was going to be walking out a happy customer. Before trimming and bundling up the bouquets, he asked for my approval which I thought was nice gesture since many floral designers haven’t before.
Jim did an AMAZING job with both the bouquets (total was $ 93)!
The combination of flowers were eye-​catching, vibrant and were artistically arranged into a simply beautiful arrangement! As I walked back to my car a block away, several passerbyes had commented about how beautiful the bouquets were.
I go to flower shops/​florist several times a year and have never been to one on more than two occasions because I was never WOWED until now. I’ve paid a lot more before for arrangements which wasn’t even nearly as beautiful. If Handful of Petals were fully stocked that day, I can’t imagine how even more visually stunning the bouquets would have been.
