My gripe is for the newbies. The girl with the pink hair has got to be the most awkward and unpersonable barista I have come across. One time, after she asked for my order, she must have not heard my order that instead of saying, «I’m sorry can you repeat that or I didn’t hear you,» she said, «HUH?» She had no social skills. How did she even become an employee there. The few Ike’s I’ve had to be helped by her, after I pay, she kind just handed me my card and didn’t say a word like have a good day or even thank you. I try toe kid getting her at all costs. Then this morning, there’s a newbie. Very friendly which I like. However, I told him the size of my coffee twice. The second time he wanted to make sure the size and I clearly said SMALL. I didn’t really pay attention to the price I was paying until I got my coffee, which mind you, tastes different for a caramel macchiato. Almost watered down a little bit and tastes more like soy milk more then coffee. How could he charge for a medium after I clearly said small? I’m baffled.

In a big city sometimes one can feel lost or alone; even when there are thousands of people standing around you. That’s why I love Peets & the community that Peets creates. The baristas are friendly & knowledgeable. They’re willing to share their knowledge & not just push product to you… that’s awesome. In retail, a business is usually focused on $. Here at Peets, they are also interested in people: their customers & their staff. You see families congregate here. You see parents with their kids or dogs or both. On this day before Christmas, reflect on your blessings… for me I’m thankful that Peets is here and it’s part of the San Francisco Bay Area community. Merry Christmas to all & Happy Holidays!

Met someone from MixPanel here and it was a good place. Got super busy but it seemed to move quickly. I got here before 8:00 and it was quick. I think as the time ticked by it got busier and busier. Good strong coffee.

I was initially excited to grab Peet’s instead of some other mass produced coffee experience. Sadly, this location isn’t much better. After being told I could only redeem my coupon for a «small» coffee, I was then told that they could take credit card transactions for under $ 1. Wonderful insight. Considering this was a Peet’s created difficulty it was nice that they chose to have me head somewhere else. What do you know, a heartless, mass produced coffee experience. All that for $ 0.75. Well played.

Get away from the hustle and bustle of north SOMA. Walk to this location along Howard or First streets and there is usually light foot traffic. Calming as you’re not in the throngs of people along Market, Mission, or Second streets. And, since it is part of an office building there is a large courtyard with concrete or tables/chairs seating outside. This place almost feels like a getaway, hah! Inside the setup is spacious, with no displays/dividers in the middle to confuse where you’re suppose to go order or to wait for drinks. Even when there is a line it moves quickly. Customers are mainly the nearby workers and you will unlikely to see visitors — and crowds — like at other nearby Peet’s. I visit this Peet’s the most even though it is not the nearest one to work.

Definitely the place to get some yummy lattes and drinks! It was walking distance from my hotel, so it was a delight to get yummy non-starbucks coffee. Always heard of Peet’s and so glad I finally got to try it!

If coffee were my thing, I’m sure I’d be willing to give Peet’s 6 stars if it were possible. But alas, I’m not. And yet I still give Peet’s my blessing for all of the non-coffee drinks they happen to carry and for everything I’ve tried, I’ve enjoyed. Additionally this location stands out for doing so many things well, beyond drinks. For one, this Peet’s is bigger than most other locations. This means more chairs, more tables, and generally more space to enjoy your beverage. The aroma is great in the morning and they even have outdoor seating. Another plus? The bathrooms are spotless. I also appreciate the friendly staff and their efficiency. With multiple registers and baristas, lines are never a problem and the wait time for drinks don’t tend to test anyone’s patience. For those paying attention, they are skilled in coffee /latte art. Instead of going for the obligatory heart, leaf, or tree try shooting for an eye, peacock pattern, or crown. Be prepared to be surprised. For our lactose intolerant friends, this location is now one of many that carry almond milk. Lastly, I’m a fan of their hot chai teas. It’s just sweet and cinnamon’y enough to warrant many returns.

Perfect for me since I’ve joined a company in the same building. Never a line at 7:10am when I get to the office so even better! I usually go for a straight black iced coffee. I did once stray from my usual to give an iced soy pumpkin latte a try since I received a check in offer. Still came to about $ 4 with the $ 1 off but it was worth it because it sure was delicious.

I like going to this place because it’s close by and not as crowded as the other places. They have a nice indoor and out door places to sit. The staff are nice and keep the place really clean.

I like this Peet’s location for two reasons. First, I like that they have three registers open during the morning hours. Even a line of eight to ten people will not discourage me from coming in here to get myself a drink. Second, this location is lot more spacious than other Peet’s that I have been to. The Market St location is super narrow and hard to find a place to wait. This location has plenty of places to stand and wait without feeling in the way of flowing traffic. Friendly staff also makes this a pleasant place to visit.

Another great Peet’s. Always friendly quick service. Always fresh pastries. And just about everytime, «do you mind waiting about 1 to 1.5 minutes while we brew a fresh pot?» «Heck no!» I can wait one minute for fresh brewed coffee!

NOT good for a meeting. Had to constantly shout to be heard over the banging of utensils against the counter. Worse, the place isn’t carpeted in any way, so all the rattling from the coffee makers gets echoed. Even the outside seating area is a bit quieter. Haven’t tried the coffee. If interested, I recommend getting whatever you need from Peet’s, and moving to the Orric building next door. WAY quieter, and direct stairs access to the underground parking($ 2.75/hour, closes at 7pm).

I think peet’s is the best of the mega coffee brands, but they still can’t touch blue bottle or ritual.

The people here are always so friendly and helpful. I usually stopped by to get a hot chocolate once in a while and the other day I went in because I just bought a Bodum French Press and was looking for the right grind of coffee. The guy who helped me was very helpful and friendly. He helped me choose the right blend and grind. Kudos to this Peet’s for great service!

This review is only relative to other Peet’s as this chain is so far superior to others. This particular shop sucks for two and only two reasons. First my hot coffee is never served to me in a sleeve. If there is anybody among you who can hold a hot cup of coffee without a sleeve please stand up. In this day and age of instant legal action, especially in the ultra liberal nanny state of San Francisco you’d think they would take care of me to make sure I don’t burn my hands but apparently they don’t care. Second, they are closed on Sundays. I understand this part of the city is a ghost town on Sunday mornings but people do live here and would appreciate a cup of coffee. I can’t deduct a star for this but the, «burning hand issue» is already bad enough. The coffee is great and the staff is awesome.

I love this Peet’s! This has converted me from a lifetime of Starbucks. The coffee is strong, the baristas are friendly, and I love their gift card deals. This month, every $ 25 card gets me a free medium drink. And knowing how much I spend there, it’s like an extra incentive to not drink Starbucks. Shoutout to Asia for remembering my name and my order :)

Peet’s is the Albert Brooks among the coffee chains. While Starbucks has the self-possession of an Ivy Leaguer with a cardigan wrapped around its broad, heavily commercialized shoulders, Peet’s still has that cultish feel of a neurotic, self-obsessed caffeine addict who demands his beans be hand-roasted to ensure quality brewing. It’s not hard to find Peet’s coffee in SF, but that’s more likely because they focus their operations as a coffee retailer. So I can get it in the cafeteria at work, but the true Peet’s experience can be found in one of their stores… and indeed one of the best is the relatively new one at 1st and Howard. That’s because there is a barely used open plaza in front that makes for a great place for relaxing and dishing in the middle of your hectic work day. The inside is pretty spacious, too, with a near-hidden booth for the eagle-eyed who want to eat their packaged salads relatively undisturbed. And the condiment station is one of the most robust I have seen with all sorts of sweeteners from organic to life-threatening to satisfy your idiosyncratic tongues. Definitely worth a trip if you are working in the area… and more welcoming than the Starbucks two blocks west. COFFEE — 4 stars… Peet’s richness with a touch of neurotic AMBIANCE — 4 stars… the outdoor seating overshadows the indoor spaciousness SERVICE — 3 stars… rather spacey and preoccupied at times… but I do get my caffeine eventually TOTAL — 4 stars…“Wouldn’t this be a great world if insecurity and desperation made us more attractive?”
