It was just ok. My expectations were high after reading the reviews. I had the green curry chicken with coconut rice and coconut soup. It wasn’t bad, but I’ve had better.

Our food was brought to the table 5 minutes after we ordered, the waiter brought us refills of water several times, and the food was generally awesome. Not to mention the happy staff, this made us feel very welcome. Also, most dishes can be made vegetarian as well as vegan. Great place!

I had a little dinner date with my best friend and we were both equally impressed with not only our meals but also the staff. Our first place we initially wanted to go to was too long of a wait so we ended up going here. This location was full of friendly smiles and the drinks were strong and tasty haha. And they say chains don’t know how to keep up their services. Kudos!

Definitely great service! However, I was disappointed in the food quality. The tom-kha noodles which I had ordered was too sweet, it served more like a desert instead. It seems as though their main ingredients were nothing but salt and sugar.

Ordered Tom Kha and all I could taste was the coconut milk. The curry rice was over cooked. The grains were all sticking together. Too much water. I cook and I’m in culinary school. Their standard definitely dropped!

OSHA is an amazing little restaurant that we found. The food is delicious and moderately priced for San Francisco food. I had ordered the combination fried rice and my boyfriend had a noodle soup dish. Honestly I think I got the better of the two because my fried rice was flavorful, rich, and had plenty of chicken, squid, and shrimp. The soup was delicious too because it had just the right amount of spice and peanut flavor. The best way to end this meal was the fried ice cream. It was incredibly crispy and the ice cream in the middle was soft. It was much better than some other places we went to for fried ice cream. I would definately recommend this restaurant to anyone that enjoys Thai food.

The food was so meh, did not taste authentic at all. We came here at 4⁄20 so that speaks for itself. I ordered just a regular pad Thai with chicken and the sauce was so acidic and just drenched throughout the over cooked noodles, eating it was just kinda like simultaneously choking down food since It was just kinda mush at that point. My friends ordered a fried tofu appetizer and it was just so basic, we all regretted it after we saw the price. My other friend ordered a mix veggie rice plate and got the same results. Food was not good at all. But the icing on top of the cake was from this one male server that kept screaming at us. We were meeting another person and since we saw them outside, one of my friends stood up and walked towards the door on the right side of the restaurant where we were seated and before she even got to the door, there was this nasally shrill voice screaming«WHATDOYOUTHINKYOUREDOINGEXCUSEME !!» Coming from a tall male server. Like whaaaa? We didn’t know that door wasn’t meant to be used, it wasn’t clearly marked or anything but okay not a big deal just a weird way to handle things. Your first reaction shouldn’t be to scream at a customer but this isn’t going to be the last time he screamed at us this night. After eating for a while, I had to use to restroom. I got up and starting walking but yea I suck because I was looking down on my phone the whole time while walking in the direction to the restroom. There were 2 doors and when I looked up from my phone all I got was«EXCUSEMEEXCUSEMEWHATAREYOUDOINGGETOUTOFTHERE ! «apparently I was standing too close to the room marked employees only even though it’s right across from the restroom. Talk about an overreaction. I wasn’t inside the room just happened to be standing by it, it’s almost like he has a dead body in there by the way he screamed at me across the room. I told him I just had to use the restroom and I’m sorry and he starts waving me like I’m some sort of idiot like really? I know it’s 4⁄20 but you seem more out of it than me. Overall weird experience and some not so great food and got yelled at by a weird man all night. I still can’t get that voice out of my head, very shrill and bird sounding, I hear it in my nightmares. Oh and I ended up throwing up most of the pad Thai that night since it was stuck in my esophagus for hours and couldn’t make its way down to my stomach.

This place is just ok. It’s the first OSHA Thai they opened in the city. So it’s been around for a long time. I used to come here a lot but I noticed the quality of the food at this location is not so great anymore. Today I stopped by for lunch with a friend who rarely comes to this side of the city. I ordered the Pork Satay with Sticky Rice. The pork was good, but the sticky rice was so hard, I could barley eat it. It was more like 3day old rice instead of sticky rice. The Thai iced tea was really good though. That was the best part of the meal. The next time I’m craving Thai food, I will go to one of the other locations in the city.

Not my favorite Osha location, but it will get the job done. I ordered Pad Thai with chicken, my boyfriend got curry. While the plate was displayed really beautifully, my dish was really runny and the sauce tasted more fishy than peanuty. Since it was so runny it didn’t stick to the noodles well at all either. Our waiter was often missing, we ended up having a few other waiters chip in when they noticed our drinks were in need of a refill. Overall it was an alright experience, but definitely not the standard I was expecting from the 2nd and 3rd street locations.

You know a restaurant is not that great when you’re drunk and can still tell that the food is meh. The only times I’ve ever been to this Osha have been in that situation. The other day, we left the club a little early and got to Osha before 2am. I ordered Tom Kha Noodle Soup, thinking that it would help soak everything up. The positive is that medium spicy actually felt like Thai-level spicy versus Americanized spicy. It almost made me cry. The negative is that the soup tasted bland for Tom Kha. Unlike most Thai food I’ve had, this soup clearly lacked depth. It was disappointing. Luckily, it was also free to me.

Elena N. teases me how I will only crave pizza after a night of drinking. That’s not true. This review is proof that I crave for other foods other than dough that’s covered in cheese and sauce. In fact, a well prepared, made to order food that’s not sitting under a heat lamp is exactly what you need to put in your stomach after assaulting it with abrasive liquor(I love you gin!!!) This is Osha Thai’s first location ever in SF and since 1996, they’ve been serving drunkards til 3am on Friday and Saturday nights. Yes, the food DOES taste«authentic» but only when tipsy. DO get the pineapple fried rice, the pad see ew and throw in some starters like crispy tofu and chicken satay. The presentations are pretty, but you probably won’t even notice in your drunken stupor. Don’t worry about the so-so service since the staff is hustlin to feed the late night crowd. But thanks to them, you won’t have to settle for $ 5 microwave Digiorno’s pizza at home. P.S. Psst. Milano pizza is only 0.3 miles away from here…

Osha Thai has some tasty dishes, although for this particular location, the tastiness isn’t worth the extra dollars. The neighborhood has SOMUCH amazing Thai food for a few to several dollars cheaper, depending on the dish. Plus, I feel that this location is a wee bit lackluster compared to the other locations in the city, such as the ones on Embarcadero and in SOMA. The food is a bit more bland, and they don’t seem to have the amazing happy hour that other locations have(although I may be wrong, perhaps I’ve missed it?). I’d be down to spend the premium tax at one of the other locations since the food and ambiance are definitely higher quality there, but here, I’d rather go to a local place down the street. However, I will award them points for their crazy hours on weekends. The hole-in-the-wall place down the street will probably not be open at 3am.

We found out why Tom is so yummy. The Tom yum and ka are amazing. We have been there everyday for the past few days and have to say its our favourite noodle house. The green Thai eggplant curry, spicy eggplant, and soups so delish. I love their plating, every dish is artfully served. The lazy Susan on each table provides you with pickled jalapeños, Sriracha, pepper flakes, sauces, ground peanuts and sugar. You won’t be left with a wanting bud in your mouth. I asked for a side of green curry for the plain rice and they brought a huge 32 oz bowl of the sauce. So smart as I had to order another round of rice and veggies to accompany this amazing sauce. I love the fresh flavours of lime, cilantro, and peppers. The tofu was cut in a fun crinkled fashion and this added to the overall visual loveliness of the dishes. Come here. They have a happy hour on Monday and Tuesday, all bloody day $ 3 beers. Enjoy

I came back home late after my dance classes and needed something to eat — this place was calling me with the colorful led lights. I decided that it would be perfect late night dinner place. My favorite Thai dish is papaya salad, and I just came back from Ko Samui(Thailand) last week too, so why not to honor my recent travel destination by ordering what I love the most? I asked for medium spice. What I got was a mediocre salad that had so much red chili pepper in it I could barely eat it! And I was just in Thailand eating the same salad with traditional Thai heat, and still this salad burned my mouth and I am sure ruined my stomach lining. I think they just did not give a *bleep* to what I asked for — which is poor service. I would not come back and will not recommend this place to anyone.

Ordered angel wings and Tom kha w/prawn for take out. Waited 2 – 3 min at front for woman to acknowledge me(she was counting money). Angel wings tasted off(defrosted?) and were in a sticky sweet sauce-not spicy at all as I was hoping. Tom kha was tasty but needed more veggies and prawn. Was mostly the coconut milk broth. Also missing a kick of spice. $ 20 later for two items and not really satisfied.

The best pad see ew I have ever eaten in my life. I order mine with tofu and no egg. My dish was perfectly seasoned and very flavorful without being overly salty or greasy. Came here with a group of friends who ordered a variety of vegetarian dishes, all of which looked amazing. It was the perfect foundation meal for an evening of heavy drinking. Fast and friendly service. Reasonable prices. Beautiful neon sign outside. Highly recommended for Thai in San Francisco!

Oh, Osha, how you’ve changed! I used to go here regularly when I lived in San Francisco 9 years ago and it was consistently great. Late last night, after a concert, I took my fiancé there for take out, telling her how fab it was, but wow, what a disappointment! I got the mixed veg with tofu, over rice(which is what I always used to order). It was mostly rice, and the veggies didn’t have much sauce on them, which meant not much flavor on the veggies and plain rice without sauce. Meh. My lady ordered a mixed vegetable red curry which was more like soup, with almost no veggies. The veggies they did put in looked like scraps from the compost bin, and the red curry was overly salty and tasted strongly of fish sauce. The whole thing was yucky, and she threw it away. It was late, and they were getting ready to close the kitchen for the night — I’m not sure if that was a factor, but it shouldn’t be. Sad experience, after all the good memories there. Get it together, Osha.

No way does this restaurant approach a four star rating. One and a half stars at best. I’m giving it one, and that’s being generous. Come on Unilocalers? Are you kidding? A four star restaurant has the service, ambiance and presentation it deserves. This is a quick serve restaurant with a courteous staff. I had dinner here on 12÷20÷15. I ordered hot tea(Jasmine) on this cold, rainy night, but they were out! So green tea was delivered and it was not worth mentioning. Next I ordered Tom Yum soup — a bowl. It was good. Not great, but acceptable. It was pricy at $ 16. Ouch, but it had 5 shrimp. I also ordered Pineapple fried rice. Gummy and totally without any flavor. I found only two small shrimp for $ 14. They are really stingy with the contents. So overall, I would not recommend this restaurant. There is another Thai restaurant about a block south that was packed. Even on a rainy night they had a line out the door. So in going there next time. To the management: You can do a lot better. The cooking and flavors need to be substantially improved.

This is not the Pad Thia you’re looking for. We ordered for pickup so we have no idea how the service was… However I did have to track down a server to get our meal. The pad Thia wasn’t the worst I’ve ever had, but it’s certainly not the best in the neighborhood. My boyfriend got the yellow curry — it was spicy enough but lacked flavor. It said it comes with potatoes and there was just one hunk of potato in the whole thing. I would go to this place again only if it was the last one open.

I didn’t know that it would be possible to be pissed at a plate of fried rice, but I was. I got the duck fried rice which tasted aiite, but was extremely disappointing due to the fact that the yummy roast duck skin was stripped from the meat. Yes. To reiterate, the fatty part that was directly under the brown, roasted top layer was still there, but said top layer was gone. Soooo… you can even argue that they were trying to be health concious by removing the skin cuz the fat was still included. Did they use the skin for the curry in someone else’s order? Did they accidentally burn the top part and decide to only include the part that wasn’t spoiled? I don’t know. But what I do know is that to have to pay +3 dollars for miniature, incomplete pieces of duck on top if the normal $ 14.95(which isnt expensive… but isn’t worth the quality of the product) just ain’t right. PS. The servers were nice. So I blame the system, not them.

I wanted papaya salad. Since my go to neighborhood Thai place has been a let down as of late, I wanted to try a new place. I realized I hadn’t been to the Osha on Geary in almost a decade, so the roommate and I decided to order delivery for dinner. It was Sunday, November 1st. We placed our order through Caviar a couple minutes after 7pm. It arrived within the predicted time window, a little before 8:45pm. Prices below are what I paid using Caviar. All dishes were priced about 5% higher with the sides of rice being 6.67% — 7.5% higher. *Tom yum: spicy and sour soup, lemongrass, galangal, kaffir lime leaf, mushroom and tomatoes($ 13.65 bowl), Prawn(+$ 2.10) *Pad thai: wok-fried medium rice noodle, tofu, egg, bean sprout, chives, no crushed peanuts, Chicken($ 12.55) *Som-Tum Poo: shredded green papaya, long green bean, Thai eggplant, salty crab, fresh garlic, Thai chili, tomatoes with spicy lime dressing, original Thai style($ 10.50) *Thai fried rice: egg, tomatoes, garlic, onions and green onions($ 12.55), Duck(+$ 3.15) *Pumpkin curry: kabocha squash, bell peppers, bamboo shoots and sweet basil in red curry, Chicken($ 14.65 a la carte) *Steamed white rice($ 2.15) *Brown rice($ 3.20) I loved the papaya salad, but it was a little too fishy for the roommate. I think they added fermented fish water? I love my papaya salad super spicy and fishy, so I thought it was great! The pad thai was also delish! The noodles were cooked perfectly. The pumpkin curry had great flavor, but it was a little too runny for me. I love thick curries. The soup was super sour so it brought out a sweetness in it I didn’t really like. I wish it were spicier. I wanted to like the fried rice, but unfortunately it was rather mushy. The sides of rice were bigger than expected which was much appreciated. I remember coming here to grab Thai food back in the day after clubbing. Osha provided sustenance after dancing the night away. Glad to know the food is still pretty solid. Even without my alcohol goggles!

Really disappointed in the meal. Was starving and still the food tasted mediocre. Ingredients weren’t fresh. Ordered spicy catfish and spicy eggplant and it was truly mediocre. Two stars is pretty high for the meal but it’s more like a 1.5 stars. Service was okay but the execution of the meal was bad. $ 32 for a dinner for two. Wish we could have a redo on this. Can’t wait to crap this meal out. If you want decent Thai food don’t come here. It used to be good years ago. Now it’s one of the worst Thai food restaurants in the Bay Area.

I’m a little baffled by all of the negative reviews. I love this place and have always had good experiences there. And I’ve probably eaten there…20+ times(I live very close by). The only downfall for me are the tables that are so low you can’t cross your legs underneath them. lol. We regularly get the pumpkin curry with tofu and green curry with chicken. It’s the perfect amount of spice. Not enough to burn your mouth but enough to make your nose a little runny. When we order carry-out the food is always ready when we get there to pick it up, even earlier than expected.

I had a friend over yesterday and he wanted to have Thai food. Osha just happened to be the closest Thai spot to our place in the area. After ordering through Eat24, and was told we had a 10 – 30 minute wait til it was time to pick up, we figured«sure, why not… let’s go!» We got there 20 minutes into our 30 minute wait, and the food was not ready yet. The wait staff told us to sit off to the side and wait. Fast forward 20 more minutes, is when our take out order finally came… *smh* We did have entertainment as we were watching a homeless person enter the establishment and ask for a stick of butter to eat… Now, onto the food. The 3 of us ordered a lot! We got the samosas, chicken pad see ew, Thai veggie fried rice, tom yum soup, and basil chicken. This was way more than our bellies could handle. I had asked for my veggie fried rice to be the spiciest of spicy, however the pad see ew was the spiciest of spicy and the rice was just regular American spicy. Overall, I feel like there’s way better Thai spots out there. Maybe I’d come back… After a night of many drinks.

Pretty good tasting Thai food at 2am. I am glad we got seated pretty quickly even though it was prime time out of the bar, I am hungry time. We also had a party of 8. The volcano beef was very tender. The sea bass however is not Chilean even though that’s what they said on the menu. The service was almost to none(but I don’t blame them being a late night spot). My biggest complaint of this place is I ordered chicken pai thai. But they ran out of pai thai noodles. Instead of telling me this, they just went ahead and used the thin glassy noodles themselves. They did not ask me if that is what I wanted, or give other suggestions of replacement noodles. That plate was almost not touched because it tasted disgusting. We were also too tired to even complain at the time, or was too scared because all of the servers looked like they want to kill people already.

I had a Groupon for this location and decided to use it for Take Out. The location and atmosphere for this restaurant don’t seem that great and I probably would avoid it for a sit down meal. The food order included a Cucumber Salad, Wonton Soup, Thai Fried Rice(pork), Pad See Ew(chicken) and Cashew Nut(beef). I forgot to add the noodles to the soup until it was almost too late. W/o the noodles, it tasted alright. With the noodles, it tasted bland. Not bad, but probably wouldn’t order again. Im not sure how good Pad See Ew or the Cashew Nut are supposed to be. Both were decent. I love fried rice and it was alright. No complaints.

Fancy Fancy Fancy.
