My family and I always try to go if we’re in town. I’ve discovered so many great, small, artisanal food purveyors. Some of my favorites: ~Nutes Cupcakes(my older daughter and I FIGHT over the Coconut Pandan cupcake!); ~Nana Joe’s Granola — my husband is a granola whore, and he LOVES Nana Joe’s; ~Simply Mochi — this girl from Hawaii loves the Haupia Mochi; my daughters like the Strawberry Cheesecake and the Strawberry Chocolate; ~Jablow’s Meats — the BESTBACONEVER! ~CocoTutti — If I could live on the Raspberry Confit truffles, I so would! The above is just a small sampling of the many wonderful vendors at New Taste Marketplace. The market benefits the church’s food pantry. Stuff yourself with great food, buy some great stuff, and help a great cause — win-win in my book. Check it out!

I love NTM. Each time, I discover new delights, from bacon crack(chocolate-coated bacon caramels!) to Kim Chi. I love the dumplings, mac’n’cheese, and always gulp down Soda Crush’s sodas. Peter’s Sausage is the best — I can’t decide if I like the Cheesy Brats or Lamb Merguez more. Plus, it’s all for a great cause — the food pantry.

The only bad thing about this market is that I want to eat everything. Really good food to eat on site or take home with you, and most of the vendors are happy to talk to you about how they make their products and what to pair them with. Love this market. Also, it’s in Potrero so parking is super easy. Definitely bring cash, and a bag if you want to take food to go.

If you are a foodie and good eats is your idea of religion, then you need to get your booty on up the hill and be prepared for a multitude of revelations in your mouth. Last run, I devoured head-cheese tacos with a gorgeous onion(jelly?) who’s jars were sold out before I got there, hoping to catch some this time. Bought a pound of homemade chicken/maple sausage that I grilled and put over my salads and pasta all week. Casey’s pizza made me tear up, it was so good, just better than any pizza I have EVER had, I dreamed about at night, I can’t wait to get another, maybe several. Can I freeze them? Am I missing the point? Maybe I can follow him home, camp out where he lives and serenade him for pies every week. Hand crafted sodas ala Maple, Lemon Grass, and Ginger linger in my mind. This is the real deal, you can go to the over priced Ferry Bldg and eat established hoo ha, but if you want to know what’s really up and coming on the edge then you need to seek higher ground my friend. New Taste Marketplace is where it’s at!!!
