I am a church musician working in the City of San Francisco for nearly 20 years. I hold a Bachelor and Master degree in music. I play the piano, pipe organ and am trained in choral direction and voice. After many years of utilizing my trained skills I found myself in need of a tune up as they say in the auto industry. Walking up Hayes St. on my way to play the organ for a wedding at a near by church, I saw the Mr. Natural Music School. In the window it had a special for summer lessons. I sent Mr. Natural an email expressing what I wanted to do and asked if he could help me achieve my goal. He said yes he could. Mr. Natural and Angel took me on as a student and for nearly a year I began taking a 1 hour weekly lesson. I am so very happy I did this. Mr. Natural and Angel are skilled in teaching beginners and most experienced professionals like myself. At my lesson each week I would enter into the world where we spoke the language of music. It was a joy to in a sense return to my roots. Their style of teaching is so positive, always calling you forward without any negativity. They want you to succeed and they will help you to do so in your own time and pace. This is healthy teaching technique. I encourage anyone who would like check out the world of music. This is a school of music that is the real deal. Sincerely, Frank Uranich

Started taking some guitar classes with Angel a few months back and just love it. Easy and innovative approach that gets you playing songs fast while giving time for the theory to sink in through practice and repetition. Great place and I see students of all ages from absolute beginners like myself to students working on their own ambitious composition projects.

Mr. Natural saved the day! LITERALLY. I first went to Mr Natural back in mid 2013 wanting to learn harmonica. I’ve previously had no musical training whatsoever. Nada. Zilch! But with Mr Naturals patience, enthusiasm & encouragement I was able to learn riff after riff. My true goal however, was to surprise my husband at our wedding with a Love/Blues Song. A love/blues song sounds ironic I know, but look it up «Since I met you baby» by James Cotton. After much time, practice and a few rehearsals at The Sacred Grounds open mic, I was ready. On my big day after a few G&T’s, I played that song for my husband and a hundred plus surprised guests. Was it perfect? No. There was some sound issues etc. Plus everyone was screaming so there were moments I couldn’t hear what note I was on. LOL But all in all everyone enjoyed it. And most importantly I surprised myself & I think my hubby too. No harmonica youtube video or book could have given me the same results. Here’s to you Mr Natural! I’m sure you’ll see me real soon.

Mr. Natural’s is a very special and unique place. It’s not for everyone, but if it happens to be for you, it REALLY is for you. With a philosophy centered on intervals, Natch’s approach treats music like the holy mathematics that it is. They teach music instruction from the point of view of a composer, even if you’re just there to learn an instrument. you learn what truly is going on. so if you wish to both accomplish technically as well as appreciate the beauty of music, it’s for you. This school is uniquely San Francisco, uniquely Haight Ashbury. If you’re open minded, if you already play by ear and wish to learn theory or another instrument, if you feel you don’t quite fit in at other music schools, I think you will love Mr Natural and Angel’s approach.

I used to live just a couple blocks away from this lovely little music school. I always loved to gaze into the jam-packed windows filled with all kinds of instruments and the awesome illustration of the Mr. Natural. It wasn’t until I left the neighborhood, that I signed up for Mr. Naturals beginners group class, which was around eight or so classes all together. I used to play the violin and piano when I was little and have always wanted to get back into music so I figured now’s my chance. From the first class I knew this was the class for me. Both Angel and Mr. Natural have such a wonderful approach to teaching. You can tell that they know how to play just about any instrument you can think of and they teach the fundamentals so that in time(and with some practice) you really can play anything you dream of. They have a wonderful spirit about them that immediately made me feel welcome, confident, and ready to play. It’s difficult sometimes to start playing an instrument at the beginner level when you’re at that stage where you can’t even play a whole song, but with Mr. Natural our group was playing to songs by the very first class. Mr. Natural’s Music School made it really fun and attainable. I highly recommend this school!

Mr Natural and his wife have been teaching music, well if i had to guess, since the late 60’s. Their little studio is full of instruments and gadgets and almost seems like a museum of instruments, only it has no organization or thought. After not playing piano for many years I began lessons with them and picked up some techniques to help me improvise and write my own stuff. They are very knowledgeable and willing to work with you on what you want to learn.
