Chelsea Hollow

I’ve had the privilege of working with Chelsea for the last 2 years. Let me say, voice lessons with her has been one of the best investments I’ve made so far.
I started out a few years ago, thinking that I just wanted to maintain my voice, get better at it, and perform in a recital here and there. After our first recital, I decided that I missed performing and wanted to pursue voice more seriously. Being performing artist herself, she sat me down and was very honest about where I was and in what direction I needed to go in and how to get to the next level. She encouraged me to get coaching, told me about auditions and opportunities that were appropriate for my level. In January, I auditioned for the OperaWorks Emerging Artist Program, was accepted and completed the program in June. I completed another smaller program with local performing artists. I was able to stand on my own with other performing artists — but not without hard work, tears and moments of self doubt (the work never ends btw — and there will always be those moments).
I owe it all to Chelsea to get me to this point. She has been my voice doctor, my psychologist/​therapist (yes she even accepted teary calls on the weekend during my program!), mentor and friend. Not only is she easy to work with, but she has an extensive of knowledge of the voice. She knows the repertoire, and knows what is good for your voice, and what is inappropriate, and what is/isn’t healthy for your voice. She helped me developed my own rep. A medication messing with your chords? She’s got a book for that. Performance anxiety? She’s got a book and real lavender for that! The support and encouragement she gives her students is unlike anything I’ve seen in a teacher, and I was able to perform 3 times in one year with her studio alone.
If you’re looking for an amazing voice teacher, look no further.

Good experience, although we decided not to continue. Chelsea was very patient with our daughter and has a nice ‘homey’ studio.

Chelsea is truly awesome. I only had about 4 lessons with her before having to change teachers (scheduling reasons), but I loved every lesson with her and learned so much, and improved SO much in just a few weeks. She is a true professional who really knows her stuff, and will teach you things you never imagined about the voice and how it works, and show you great exercises to target problems and strengthen your delivery overall. She’s so friendly and cool and always made me feel at ease while also challenging me to do things I had never tried. After my very first lesson with her I already felt so much more confident and my delivery was hugely improved. I think her prices are super fair too considering the amazing value you get out of learning from her. I hope I can work with her again someday!

Chelsea’s patient, sweet, and really talented. Not only can she quickly give you solid skills to start working with, when she downloaded the notes from the song I wanted to sing (Black Keys ‘Tighten Up’) she was quickly banging her keyboard with the music.

I’ll boil it down for you. I have been going to Chelsea for a few months now, and it is absolutely the best investment I have ever made in myself.
I’m not a professional singer, I’m just doing it for fun. I want to do Karaōke but wanted to work on my voice a little first. She lets me bring in rock and pop songs and takes it seriously. She helps me with my technique by explaining the physiology of my voice, but also uses kind of abstract but seriously helpful analogies to make everything makes sense for a novice like me. Not only does she do the technical stuff, but also works with me on my confidence and attitude. I always leave class on cloud nine even if I kind of sucked that week. It’s like my personal weekly confidence building lessons on top of singing lessons. She’s flexible, personable, and seems to really enjoy her job. Bottom line, is chelsea rocks and I highly recommend her classes.

I came to Chelsea with little to no musical background or experience, and have found her very welcoming, accommodating, and easy to work with. She makes a point of listening to what I want to get out of voice lessons, and structures her teaching around that. She’s an effective teacher who is clearly passionate about helping her students along. For instance, if there is a new song I want to learn, she’ll record the piano track and send it to me via email within a few days which is superduper helpful.

I have been having classical voice lessons with Chelsea hollow for about half a year now. I had NO prior experience in Classical music (except when imitating it for fun). I have been singing the usual pop/r&b/alternative music style since I was a kid. But i wanted to major in classical voice. When I looked for a voice teacher who could give me private lessons, I was recommended to Chelsea Hollow.
On my first day with Ms. Hollow she asked me if I have any experience in Classical singing. I shyly replied that i did not. Her response: «How exciting! This is going to be fun!» I was surprised that a singer as good as her was looking forward to teaching me, inexperienced.
During the lessons I have with her, she is patient and does not look down on me if I make mistakes or cannot understand a concept. Speaking of concepts, she uses examples that are easy for me to understand so that I can grasp a concept she is trying to teach me. Ms. Hollow is also very funny which makes me feel more comfortable and less tense during a lesson.
I know I have improved in Classical singing as a result of lessons with Ms. Hollow. I passed the the audition to be a music major! I recommend her to ANYONE if she can get a classical voice out of me.

As a classical singer, I have studied with a wide variety of highly qualified voice teachers. Chelsea has a phenomenal grasp of the mechanics of the human voice which she combines with her ability to clearly communicate the subtle aspects of the voice to allow me to make great leaps in my vocal technique from week to week.
I could not recommend Chelsea highly enough.
She is friendly and understanding, which is a must with a voice teacher. Despite her great knowledge of the subject, she is never judgmental of mistakes, or inexperience. This has given me the ability to sing freely in my lessons and build my confidence along with my technique.

Chelsea is an excellent vocal teacher-​she knows her stuff! Her lessons have given me a better grasp of the technical side of singing, and she has also helped me to find more confidence in my voice.
She has a real love for the art form and teaches from a place of great generosity and patience.
