I love Mickey’s Monkey! I found my absolutely beloved dresser there and have found great gifts and unique decorative pieces there. As shops like this are closing all over SF I’m so glad Mickey’s still stands!

It used to be place to buy cheap furniture. Now, it’s an affront to anyone. Used IKEA tables for $ 40? A filing cabinet for $ 145 which I saw two weeks earlier for $ 20 from Urban Ore? They obviously make money and there are obviously yuppies who don’t seem to mind getting extremely overcharged…

I actually never ended up buying anything. But I really do like to just go and look around, see what they got in since my last visit and what’s gone. It’s a small packed place, good if you are just looking for unique but affordable decoration with a retro touch…

Adore this place. Love the random cool stuff that they have… bought a gorgeous vintage map for only $ 40! and it included a large metal frame with glass! Fantastic spot.

I just… can’t with this place. Every time I need a gift, a large piece of furniture, or a useful tchotchke that will really pull the room together, I’m over here in a flash. It’s a small shop with high turnover thanks to the unbelievably cheap prices. I got my mid century dresser here about 7 years ago for a paltry sum of $ 140. AND they delivered. Other things I’ve gotten: — Deformed dental mold — Vintage scapbook(empty) — Mirrored tray for my vanity — Cocktail skewers — Vintage highball glasses — Vintage posters — Horse head bookends — Too many others to mention Need an offbeat, go-to gift spot? It’s here. Looking for a dresser at prices that won’t make you cry? It’s here(and if its not, check next week, because everything will be different). Pro tip: they don’t take credit cards, so bring cash or, strangely enough, they take personal checks.

If you’re looking for selection. Keep looking. This store consisted of maybe 10 dressers on the sidewalk and a few pieces inside(like 2 or 3). The inside of the store is SMALL. All the dressers outside were old and junky when I went there. Sad. But the 5 star reviews are all from the lucky people, so I had to take a chance that I might get lucky too, I just wasn’t lucky. I would give just 2 stars(one for oddity and 2 for good pricing) but it gets 3 because it wasn’t that far out of my way to travel. It was just a mile or so from downtown where I was visiting and a few blocks from Alamo Square where I enjoyed a picnic lunch. So making a quick stop here wasn’t a huge hassle. There was also a neat costume store a block away.

Great finding! I have been looking for furniture for months and finally found not just one but two pieces I liked for an affordable price. And very good condition. Michael said that he gets new things every week. I recommend and will be back often since I am in the neighborhood.

Mickey’s Monkey is not your grandmas antique shop, It’s more unique in a freaky sideshow sort of way. Everything is so bizarre and random it’s hard to say exactly what they sell but if your on the market for something one of a kind your sure to find a nice conversation piece! The couple supervising the Monkey we’re cordial and welcoming unlike some antique/vintage store owners who are persistent on peddling there wares!

Have your checkbook out because they don’t hold things, and someone will jump on it while you’re checking it out! They’ll deliver to your home for a charge and inventory is always changing. Used to live right by here– still love the dresser I jumped on years back!

This antique shop was absolutely incredible. You walk in, take one look around, but don’t see anything interesting. But then you look again. The place is filled with wonderful furniture, antiques, art, antique cameras, and other things. I bought a camera and a case that would normally cost 60 – 90 dollars for just 25 dollars. I also bought a phonograph that was labeled as $ 75 for $ 45 because the lady who worked there felt like being nice. There was an old sewing machine that appeared to be in working condition, and a blender from the 30’s or 40’s. There were also ship models that were just absolutely beautiful. This is by far the best antique shop I have ever been in.

Somewhere, in another life, I was a 60’s hippie living in the Lower Haight, just moved into a new pad and needed some inexpensive furnishings to decorate with. I walked into a nearby store, dropped some acid and furnished my entire living room and bedroom for $ 300. The store was«Mickey’s Monkey». I am now a devoted fan of this place. Please stay away, as I can get a bit territorial about secret finds on vintage furniture/décor.

I received the best service from Mickeys Monkey on this fine Sunday! Thank you so much to Theodore for being such a helpful and lovely character, and thank you to Mickeys monkey for having such great deals on really wonderful and interesting stuff. I love this place!!!

Imagine if you went to a store that plucked the best of Craigslist, did delivery, and charged reasonable prices. That’s basically Mickey’s Monkey. Theo helped me pick out a wonderful solid oak dresser for $ 165 + $ 40 delivery. There were two other 6-drawer dressers for $ 135(!) too. They delivered it on the same day, up a flight of stairs, and I am sitting next to it now. This is now one of my regular stops for any future furniture purchases.

Fun little side business treasure trove with seemingly decent priced antique finds. Had fun browsing and will stop in time to time.

A treasure chest. And lots of other chests too. We recently lost Earthtones on Upper Market. And though that was a fancier store with new merchandise, it too was a treasure chest, so it’s a delight to have an independent ver-ry interesting gift shop available. Had to get a birthday gift for my sister and was sweating it until I walked in and realized I’d have to make some hard fun choices. Definitely returning asap.

Super interesting spot! They have all kinds of totally awesome, one of a kind unique furniture pieces. The owner is a chill guy; even though I caught him on a REALLY bad day(his home just got destroyed), he was still über cool. This is the kind of place where you’re like«hmm… I wish there was a store that had garage sale type stuff, but in great shape and the junk filtered out.» Yup, you got it! But don’t expect garage sale prices of course, he needs to make a living you know…

I went to a half-dozen antique stores today looking for the perfect white elephant christmas present. Sadly I did not find it. But if I had, it would have been at this place. By far the most reasonably priced out of the stores I went to, they also had some of the coolest stuff. The guy behind the counter was very friendly and even gave me a free little trinket. I will definitely be returning to see what I can find.

Hands down, the most awesome place to find home décor items that will make your place different from all the rest! I often find myself buying all of my furniture from the same places(i.e. Pottery Barn, Crate & Barrel, and occasionally Ikea) which means that it is easy to end up having the place look like an unoriginal page out of a catalog. However, with a trip to Mickey’s Monkey, I am able to pick up some AWESOME pieces that no one else will have, and make the place my own. I collect antique glassware, and this is THE spot for picking up amazingly unique pieces. Prices are killer for what you are getting too. And while I never thought I was one for Velvet paintings, I did see a killer one there… tempting :)

Recently I bought a pair of planter’s punch glasses for my boyfriend here, the price was reasonable for the quantity and the guys were beyond friendly with my beagle. The only downside is that some of the furniture they have can be slightly dented and or not as great as expected. Look at all drawers before you take it home, some of it may need repairs.

OMG! I’ve got to go back when I don’t have my husband in tow…(because he’ll kill me when I come home with that circa 1972 gawdy light fixture that I have absolutely no where to hang)! This place seriously rocks for that unique decorating touch that I call«early découpage» look, which is the vibe when entering my abode. I NEED this stuff okay, so don’t try and change my mind… my husband must know this was a bad bad thing that we’ve stumbled upon… Muhahaha! Seriously great stuff here and I saw out of the corner of my eye as we left a very cool sofa rolling in, this place is small but packed with treasures! They do have a sign cash or checks only so be prepared. Oh and bring a truck! :-D
