Really chill place with yummy authentic food. Recommend the fatoush salad, lentil soup, and falafel wrap. Very kind service as well.

It is very average. The food is over-salted, which many people like so maybe it is for you. The chicken was a bit dry too. It was not bad per se, but nothing to crave.

An amazing authentic Middle Eastern restaurant with great food! Fast and friendly service, the Hummus was wonderful and the Falafel wrap was a perfect size and delicious!

Very good, cheap and incredible service. The falafels are good, the tabouleh is amazing and the chicken is delicious. We are regular but next time, I will try their rotisserie chicken(I believe it is $ 7 for ½)

I hate to do this, but this place really deserves it. I ordered ahead and got there just when I was supposed to. The place was a complete mess. With 7 people working they took 15 minutes to device 3 customers. They told me the food would be ready in a few minutes so I sat down and waited. And waited. 15 minutes later they hand me my bag of food that had been sitting there since I got in. As a result, the fries and pita were soggy and the meat was cold. This place is very poorly managed and it leads to bad food. I recommend going anywhere else.

I decided to check this place out since it was within walking distance from my friend’s place. I ordered the chicken schwarma and baklava. They brought out the baklava first, but I saved it for dessert. The chicken schwarma was delicious. The dish came with two pitas. The first pita was perfect and I layered the inside with some hummus, cucumber, tomatoes, and chicken. The second piece of pita was soaked in the chicken juices so it was a bit harder to eat. The baklava wasn’t too sweet and I really enjoyed it also. I’d definitely come back here when I crave mediterranean food.

I’m a little surprised by how many positive reviews this place has! Ok, five stars for service, but the food is a bit subpar… I ordered the falafel sandwich, as recommended by everyone on Unilocal, but it was quite dry. I’ve been to Flying Pita(on 6th and Market) and that place does falafel sandwiches! The best thing that I ordered was probably the fries.

Palmyra and Syrian food ROCKS. Everything we ordered was so delicious that we start craving this food again when we talk about it. Here’s what we ordered: *Lentil soup: this pureed soup had a bit of rice in it and it was amazing. You’ll eat it so fast. *Cucumber salad: just a simple, healthy salad, similar to one you’d get in Greece. *Mezze plate was comprised of the following items, which I piled onto their fresh pita bread: – Falafel: Best falafel I’ve had in SF and in my Top 2 for Nor Cal. Fresh/fluffy/delicious/please. – Taboulah: fresh, minty and with the right amount of tanginess. Perfect little salad. – Baba ghanoush: housemade — chunky, garlicky, plenty of flavor. Should’ve ordered more! – Hummus: completely smooth and decent, but not the star that the baba ghanoush is. – Dolmas: small, tangy and popping with flavor. I would like to have some right now. *Turkish coffee: authentic and thick. Wait at least five minutes for it to settle and cool. *Hot tea: this was tasty black tea with a hint of mint. It was served to me in a giant mug. *Kanafeh: we normally order Baklava, but wanted something less sweet and sticky. This dessert is fresher-tasting, and the base of soft cheese gives the dessert a more grown-up flavor. To sum it up, get on over to Palmyra and order several items for you and your friends. Soon, you’ll be craving this food, too!

A meal with no frills that will fill you up. $ 15.50 gets you a whole rotisserie chicken meal with sides of hummus, pita bread, cucumber salad, and garlic sauce. The main dish comes with 4 huge breast pieces covered by juicy skin rubbed down with spice. The tenderness of the breast meat is variable: one of two pieces I devoured was super juicy, whereas the other was bit a bit dry but not unbearably so. As for the sides, they’re generous with the amount of cucumber&tomato salad, hummus, and fluffy pita bread that comes with your meal. I’ve also had their chicken wrap, which is rotisserie chicken wrapped with lettuce, tomato, hummus, and tahini sauce in pita bread. Simple and tasty.

I’m literally making a Unilocal account just to leave a poor review for this restaurant Palmyra. I cannot remember the last time I was this disappointed with any delivery restaurant. This review isn’t strictly about the food, as I’m sure it is difficult to adequately rate the quality of ice-cold food. Delivery was confirmed to be 15 minutes, food arrived an hour and a half later. I reached out to Eat24 twice at intervals to check in on the food, both times with the restaurant saying the food was on its way and would be there shortly. I’d guess the food would be good in the restaurant, however I would strongly recommend against anyone ordering for delivery unless you like eating cold food and frustration. I wouldn’t expect this quality of service from a discount pizza joint.

If you’re craving Mediterranean(and let’s be honest, when is med ever a bad idea?) Palmyra is the way to go. We usually order delivery from Grub Hub(who consistently manages to deliver all the way to Twin Peaks in 20 ish minutes flat). The rotisserie chicken is something to write home about when smothered in their homemade hummus and wrapped in warm pita. The tabouli is the freshest, and always perfectly seasoned with lemon. I’m a big falafel girl, and so these are really the highlight of the meal, for me. Dipped in hummus or the white garlic sauce? Pure heaven. Get extra pita if you’re eating with others, and you’ll thank yourself later.

So this is weird, I love middle eastern food but wasn’t in the mood for it. I was tremendously hungry and craving something like a burger or wings and was in this neighborhood but didn’t feel like walking or driving to a place so ended up here anyway. I was very pleased with the menu. In addition to the usual middle eastern dishes, they also had rotisserie chicken(!) and an item called Mediterranean Burger so I opted for the burger and fries. It turns out there’s not too much of a difference between a non-Mediterranean burger and a Mediterranean burger. Whatever, it was good and what I was looking for(beef patty, lettuce, tomato, cheese) though I wish there was a bit more seasoning to the patty. I think the sauce they serve(separately) makes the burger different from the usual. The fries were delicious. I wish I was able to sample the shawarma. From the looks and smell of it coupled with locals chowing it down, I can guess it’s probably very good. They have wines and interesting beers as well. It was too packed to take any photos but the paintings inside were beautiful, especially the one with the ruins that took up the entire wall. Service was very warm and kind throughout. If I’m ever in this area, I must try the shawarma and the rotisserie chicken!

This place carried me by the palate back to the Middle East, and for a second I was in Cairo, the sun bright, the streets alive… We ordered so much food they gave us a bag of pita! We had a ball, the moudamas brought back such great memories, and theirs is the best I’ve ever had, bar none. The mezze plate was perfect, so many rich, satisfying flavors, perfectly prepared. What ever marinade they use on the chicken should be sold to the public, it’s that good. My new fave in the Haight! Enjoy!

I ate here with a friend late on a Friday evening right before they closed. What surprised me was how friendly and welcoming they were given that we were eating in and we were their last customers. The food was delicious and they were very generous about offering more pita and hummus when we needed it even though it’s a order and find a table type of place. Their chicken is very juicy even if you choose to have white meat as opposed to dark. It was cute to see one of the staff members sitting and playing guitar as the other members ate as they were closed. Their menu seemed healthy and delicious for the most part. Pros: Delicious neighborhood Mediterranean food with friendly staff and service Cons: None Bottom line: Reliable local Mediterranean spot that makes you feel welcome and at home

Casual Mediterranean corner restaurant on Haight. Coming from a place that’s blessed with fantastic Middle Eastern food(Berlin, Germany!) I have a hard time finding something acceptable in San Francisco, but Palmyra will do. I tried the Chicken Shawarma(order it in a wrap!) which was good and came out fast, as well as the Hummus plate with a decent selection of hummus plus pita. Perfect for single diners and groups alike.

Super delicious Mediterranean food in a big old no-nonsense diner-looking room. The prices are reasonable, the owners/servers friendly-enough, and the falafel amongst the best I’ve had… totally a «hole in the wall» win!

In a matter of a week, I’ve come here twice already. Once for dinner and once for breakfast. Imagine coming home to home cooked meal. This is how it feels when they set down my piping hot food. And the old man at the register(owner), looks super stern but is very friendly and super proud of his food. And rightly so! Chicken is the star of the menu. It is very moist and tender while slightly crispy on the outside. And at $ 10 for half or $ 16 for whole – am I still in SF with these prices? Mezza platter — go for it, served very fresh, can probably feed an army. Tip– if you’re VIP, he might give you some homemade labneh, which is actually not on the menu — it is on the lighter side, which is just the way I like it! Mmmmmm. But again, not everyone gets to try this homemade goodness! The prices here cannot be real(*knock on wood* so that I don’t jinx it!)!! Dinner for two, super stuffed, with tip was about $ 35TOTAL! I’ve been conditioned to think paying anything under $ 40 per person for dinner out is a deal. esp with all these hipster restaurants popping up everywhere(no haterade here, food is great at these places too). Definitely worth a try(and without breaking the bank)!

I genuinely do love this place. The quality of the food, the hospitality, the cozy yet roomy environment, all topped off with the perfect cup of authentic Turkish coffee make it a lunch experience that the beaux and I truly look forward too. The owner is always super nice and welcoming, when we dine he says«take your time, enjoy, you’re at home here», how lovely is that? Dishes I love: –Mezze Platter(because I’m all about that little-bit-of-everything life) includes: dolmas, hummus, babbaganoush, falafel, tabouleh, pita. Perfect for sharing, everything is fresh and delish. –Lamb Shawarma: I love lamb and they do it right here. Comes with tomato/cucumber salad, hummus, pita. –Rotisserie chicken: juicy, succulent, yum yum yum! –Garlic sauce: put that on everythang! They also have a nice selection of European beer. I really like the Estrella malt rice beer. And, of course the Turkish coffee! If you’ve never had it, order it for the end and let the owner tell you why it’s so special and listen for the story of his father’s daily ritual and what it had done for him. No spoilers here ;)

I was on a mission. A mission for flat bread. I visited Palmyra after trying some of their food at a work catered lunch and noticing they have flat bread that is actually flat. You might say, «There is flat bread everywhere, look over there, it is pita bread», I would then slap the pita bread out of your hand and let you know you have no idea… no idea of what is out there in the world, there is bread flatter, more rip-able, more grab-able, more separate-able and fall down to my knees crying, remembering a simpler time with my(Australian) Lebanese bread. Where was I… Oh yeah so they have this pretty flat bread which was similar to what I like. So the next day I visited for some lunch. My table got the kibbi balls(too little pine nuts and one was nearly empty), lamb kebab(a bit chewy), kofta(yum!) and side salad with garlic(yum!). Plus a bunch of flat bread! Overall it was a pretty nice spread but the kibbi and lamb were a bit disappointing. They did sell us 5 bags of bread though :)

I wake up in the morning thinking that I will cook food today. But I go back to bed. When I wake up again, I realize that it’s too late to cook. My stomach starts grumbling. I open Unilocal and scroll through a bunch of lunch places in my area. I have a fit of indecision. All of a sudden, I get a craving to eat fresh, crispy falafels and warm, soothing lentil soup. I decide to walk to Palmyra. That’s my usual weekend story. Something that has almost become a ritual of sorts. And for all the times I’ve been there, the quality of their food has been solidly consistent. I’ve had their Falafel Platter, Falafel Sandwich, Lentil soup, Hummus and Baklava so far, and all of them are really good. The sandwich is a good quick eat, but if you want to sit down for a meal, I’d recommend the platter — it comes with 5 crispy falafels, hummus, cucumber salad and an accompaniment of pita bread. I especially like their hummus which always seems freshly prepared and well-seasoned. The owners are really nice and will often give you extra hummus if they see that you’ve run out.(Sometimes, I feel Palmyra is like the epitome of a family-run business :-)) The restaurant is fairly spacious and the ambiance if casual, friendly and sometimes loud. They also have a TV running a sporting event all the time(be it NBA or EPL), which keeps me entertained when I’m there. I believe they also do catering for large parties — we’ve had catered food from them at our company a few occasions. The quality has remained the same across the board.
