Small vendor that sells bomb Tom Kha! I’m a sucker for tom kha, and admittedly a bit wary getting this beloved soup from this modest booth… but I was happy to have taken this leap of faith for my taste buds. The soup had a generous amount of mushrooms and chicken and boast a bold, spicy kick with a rounded out coconut flavor. Complex flavors, yet balanced. It was perfect, specially on chilly days!

I love love love this place! Its a nice walk from my house. The owner is always so nice and friendly. My favorite dish is the papaya salad, always made fresh to order with great flavors– I get this every visit! My 2 y/o son loves the pad Thai and pad see ew which ever noodle dish is on the menu the day we visit. Also try the sticky rice with mango, can’t go wrong with that either :)

When and where has there ever been thai food«to go»?? Yes you can order thai carry-out but it is not as quick and convenient as Mae Krua! I’ve been coming here recently as a regular lunch spot and the food really hits the spot on these colder days. I just love the pumpkin curry! The salad rolls and rice balls are both super yummy too. The thai iced tea is superb as well. I still need to try the tom kha and pad Thai and I’m sure they won’t disappoint. I like that the menu is small with just a select few thai favorites. It makes things simple and they are able to deliver the food quick. The owner is super nice and friendly and you can tell he cares a lot about his little business! So if you’re in the neighborhood give this little hidden gem a try!

THAIICEDTEA is all I got and it was the BEST ever. He’d run out of regular cream/milk and asked if coconut milk was ok. Boy, oh boy, was it! Awesome. Still thinking about it 12 hours later.

The rice ball salad is delicious and unlike anything I’ve had before. It is essentially a salad, cheesy fried? Rice and a papaya salad spicy slaw with cashews. Great $ 8 healthy lunch. Ordered it spicy and it was.

I love this fast Thai pocket counter. But! Wow. Medium spicy was a fire ball, be warned. Excellent fresh Thai, very veggie-filled, affordable, fast and very nice guy chef.

I just love this place. I’ve had the rice balls, the rice ball salad, the coconut soup, and the pumpkin curry and have been impressed with all of them. The sauces are tasty and the rice is perfectly al dente. The prices are fair, and the service is fast. It’s my go-to for Thai in my neighborhood.

Good Thai food from 331 Cortland’s newest member, easily the best Thai in the neighborhood, fresh, well developed flavors and the owner is very nice, I wish I was in the neighborhood more often during the week for lunch…

We shared the rice balls with salad and the sweet sticky rice with mango. Both were delightful. The dressing for the salad is made to order, it’s tart, tangy, light and fresh. The rice balls are so good, chewy-rich-goodness in a ball. Sweet Sticky Rice with Mango was so good, large serving, and he cut the fresh mango right over it. The owner was incredibly friendly. We’ll be back. If you live nearby, 331 Cortland is a fantastic place to pick up lunch or early dinner to go. As with Anda, Mae Krua has all the ‘ingredients’ to be a success at 331, great food, good pricing, and friendly service. If you haven’t been to 331 Cortland, or The Cortland Marketplace, it’s small local businesses(all food right now I think) with counters. You order and if you’re lucky snag a place on the bench around the tree right outside. Otherwise, this isn’t a place you come to sit down to eat. It’s take-away. We’ll be back!

This place is really easy to miss. When you enter 331 Cortland Marketplace, it is the first stall on your left. There are a few other places that sell waffles, sandwiches, juices, piroshkis… The rice balls were ok. They were cheesy but I think if the outside was crispy, it would’ve been better. Different textures would have been nice. I think they are $ 2 a la carte and it comes with a watery coconut curry-like dipping sauce. I kinda wished the sauce was thicker so it doesn’t just roll down your rice ball. You can request to get the sauce in various spice levels. I got the super spicy but it wasn’t that spicy.

The rice balls were fantastic and filled with cheese and tofu. Delicious. Two were served with a spicy tom yum dipping sauce made to your spice preference and a fresh side salad. The best part about this place was the service! The guy working behind the counter(maybe the owner) was so friendly and helpful. He greeted us as soon as we walked in the door and offered us a taste of his flavorful coconut bean soup — such a refreshing coconut flavor. I’m ready to go back and try the mango sticky rice!
