Maybe i’ve been spoiled by Osha, but this food was not very delicious. I tried the PraRam(peanut sauce). There was hardly any sauce at all. And that went for the other dishes too. Bland and dry with barely any sauce. I requested very spicy. NOTHING was remotely spicy. yuck. bummed.

Review for delivery service: Put in order at 2:33p. Called at 3:33p to follow up on order. Person on phone said the driver left out 15m ago. Order was delivered at 3:41p. Now for the food… * Honey glazed pork w/garlic noodles: this was my favorite dish. The garlic noodles were so flavorful and the pork was the right amount of sweet to balance out the slight spice from the garlic. * Tom yum soup: personally I wish the soup was spicer. The reason I ordered this soup was because I have a cold. I wanted to soup to clear up my sinuses. The fish balls were good… it soaked up the flavors of the soup. The noodles however would not spread out. It stayed in the form of the box it came in. Should’ve asked them not to cook the noodles * Siam specialty crab w/sticky rice: this dish was a little confusing for me. It was a soft shell crab laying in a bed of papaya mixed green salad with lime vinaigrette dressing accompanied with a ball of sticky rice. I didn’t know how to eat it. The crab was soggy because it was soaking up all the vinaigrette. I really enjoyed the papaya salad and the tartness of the lime dressing but I wouldn’t order this again. I didn’t know what I was supposed to eat the sticky rice with… O_o I liked it. It was different from what I normally order and I would definitely give it a go one more time to try out different dishes.

One of our new favorite takeout places.(Thanks, GrubHub!) Normally, I’m a bit iffy on places that bill multiple cuisines on their menu, like the infamous Chinese-Mexican-pizzerias that I’ve seen, but this place nails it in terms of the delicious variety of Thai and Vietnamese dishes they offer. We’ve tried a number of their noodle dishes, which are all cooked to perfection and very flavorful.(The garlic noodles with honey pork is a current favorite.) Their soups also rock: the beef stew with noodles is a little bit of heaven in a bowl with a well-seasoned broth, carrots, onions and of course, beef! If you’re looking for a change of pace from the usual wham-bam-thank you ma’am takeout, SiamSaigon, with its thoughtfully prepared dishes, is definitely worth a try.

This place had average food. There really wasn’t anything that made a statement in my pallet, but it’s a good place to grab a quick bite. The first thing that kinda threw me off was the name on the restaurant. It’s advertised as a Vietnamese and Thai food restaurant, but most of their dishes are actually Thai only. They don’t have any Phở, Vietnamese sandwiches or anything you would typically find at Vietnamese restaurant. The service was great, my first meal came out wrong and they didn’t hesitate to fix it. I had the Chicken with green beans and the Hot and Spicy soup. The soup was the best out of the two, it had a hint of tomato that I didn’t anticipate but tasted delicious. The Pat-Thai was undercook a little, my friend had it but he still enjoyed it. We also shared the fresh rolls, nothing special or different then the other Thai Restaurants that I’ve been to. Prices are great, not to expensive and portions are good. Enough to share if people want to. A good place to meet a friend out for lunch.

I just ordered their Tom Kha soup for takeout and am now really regretting having had this for lunch. I was initially disappointed that for $ 8, the soup was largely liquid with a tiny amount of carrots, mushrooms and chicken. If I was tempted to order it again, which I am not, that would be a problem… reason I don’t want to order it agai: It started out tasty enough, but soon became cloyingly sweet… So much so, I couldn’t finish it. Now, an hour later, I am feeling sick to my stomach and I have an incredible headache from the soup. The only reason I am giving them another star is from the spring rolls which I had from there last week which were pretty good. Nothing stellar, but good. However, today’s soup was terrible and I won’t be back. Too bad, as we thought we had found a great Thai place for lunch.

Based on Lunch. The place isn’t trying to be something it’s not. The servers there were all smiles and attentive and that in and of itself goes a long way on my book. I had the Vegetarian Rolls which were delish. Followed by the Chicken Pra Ram($ 7.00). Now that was the best Pra Ram I’ve ever had! The consistency of the sauce was perfect and it was on top of spinach, carrots and broccoli — which you could taste that all were Super fresh. I’ll be back.

«Meh. I’ve experienced better.» Unilocals’s definition of two stars puts it perfectly. I def wasn’t impressed. Though service was nice and quick for my togo order, my five spice chicken was tough and obviously previously cooked and reheated. Portion size was minimal and served with a salad. Garlic noodles were average. Maybe an off day, but I doubt I’ll back.

This review is only for their Garlic Noodles with Five Spice Chicken. As a big fan of Sunflower(especially for their Garlic Noodles), I was looking for an alternative closer to my neighborhood. According to Unilocal,SiamSaigon looked like my best bet in term of distance and quality of the food. My comment are mixed. While the service was nice(my order was ready within 15 minutes and the lady at the counter was nice), once I bring the dish back home it turns out just okay. The Garlic Noodles comes with a salad and their Five Spice Chicken. I did not recognize the seasoning the chicken was supposedly cooking with. The noodles quickly turned out cold, which make them definitely not as yummy as I was used to have them. Overall I’ve experienced better. Should Garlic Noodles be eaten a.s.a.p, once they are done? Probably… But they should remain warm at least for 15 – 20 minutes. In any case I can give SiamSaigon another chance as if I come back, unless I found another alternative for Garlic Noodles in this area mission since then.

Tried this place for the first time today because of the reviews. I had the sweet basicl chicken. It had a good flavor but needed more sauce. Surpirsingly, I had to pay extra for rice and they charged me a different price than was on the menu. Also, had a thai ice tea and it needed more condense milk. But overall it was a good experience. I would go back

We ordered delivery from Siam Saigon off of Seamless(a website/app that finds places that deliver food in SF). The seamless website was really easy to use. From the menu, we ordered the satay(chicken on a stick basically), Vegetarian Pad Thai, and Vegetarian Green curry. We would rate everything at about a 7 – 8. The Satay was not hot despite being wrapped in foil. It came with a small amount of peanut sauce and the same size cucumber salad. The Vegetarian Pad Thai was luke warm. They used slightly thicker noodles than normal, which was actually really nice. I am not a fan of Pad thai, but it was delicious. The Green Curry had bamboo shoots, broccoli, carrots, and fried tofu. It was really spicy and yummy. I had to order a side of brown rice, which was an additional $ 2. I hate when restaurants do that because I feel like it should be included with the curry. the total was about $ 30, including tip. We ordered online at 5:06, and I called them at 6 to ask where the food was. The lady never ended up calling me back, so I went outside and found the guy just walking around trying to find the apartment. I will give him some credit cause the apartment is hard to find. Would I order from here again? Sure, it was pretty good. I don’t know about what the restaurant looks like, but I was pretty happy with the food overall.

First off I want to say that this is wrongly listed as a one $ place. We shared one appetizer, one soup, one entrée and each had a tea.(a modest lunch) The total was $ 33 and change before tax. Do not come here thinking you will be getting a good value. People that know me know that I avoid fusion and when I see a place with a name like this I know they aren’t even trying to be authentic. I came in here not expecting much and was still disappointed. We ordered the Chicken Satay, the seafood Thom Ka, and the red curry duck. All the food looked great. The Satay was grilled chicken on a skewer with peanut sauce, the same as everywhere with no surprises. The Thom Ka was too sweet and even though I ordered it «Thai Spicy» it was a little bland. The red curry duck was the only dish I really liked and the only reason I’d go back. The biggest problem with this place is the terrible service, next is the poor value, finally the mediocre food.

I am really surprised by the negative reviews here. Maybe some of you like MSG type/heavy/greasy food? This is not here, and that’s why I really enjoyed my meal. Also, it is a Thai and Vietnamese restaurant, the menu has both offerings, so when people say more of one than the other, that’s due to their ordering(methinks). The garlic noodles with sole were oh-so-tasty! Way better than Sunflower’s garlic noodles, and maybe we lucked out with the cook on a Friday night, but damn were they spiced well and super(but not overly) garlicy. The sole was just right. The yellow curry was also tasty, as were the spring rolls(sadly, like most places, they skimped on the shrimp!). My surprise comes from feeling like all the right touches went into the meal. The wine list was very reasonable and great matches for what we ordered, and all of the dishes I had were better than many others I’ve had in this Asian-infused food city we lived in. The curry — not too heavy and well-spiced, the noodles similarly. $ 25 each for two of us, we each got a glass of wine, shared an app and the two dishes. Yay! I’m a fan :)

SiamSaigon feels underseasoned, literally and figuratively. They haven’t been around for very long, so maybe some of the disappointments here are just growing pains. Most problematic, the food, while tasty, is bland. The garlic noodles were toothsome, but not very garlicky. A cucumber salad needed salt(actually, everything needed salt). A sweet-sour dipping sauce wasn’t sour at all. The salad that came with my grilled pork lacked dressing entirely. The experience wasn’t up to par either. My entrée arrived before I’d finished the appetizers, and a techno remix of «I’ve Had the Time of My Life» seemed an especially ill-considered soundtrack choice. Despite all that, I still left SiamSaigon really wanting to like the place. It has the makings of a much better restaurant than it is now… reasonable prices, nice location, friendly service, good ingredients. I’ll probably pop back in a month or two, and see if they’ve found a salt shaker and a better playlist.

I’m usually wary of restaurants that try to mix two cuisines together even if they are geographically close enough not to matter to the culinary layman like me. Truth be told, this place is more Siam than Saigon. In fact, it feels more like an Osha Thai wannabe than any place you’d find on the Little Saigon block of the Tenderloin. Jamie W. and I were drawn here when we were strolling on the other side of the street after belching our way through our favorite Mexican/Salvadorean haunt, El Zocalo. Great pupusas, man. But back to SiamSaigon. They’re going for a sleeker vibe with more familiar Indo-blend dishes involving around garlic noodles and stir-fries. We both started with a refreshing Thai Iced Tea(see photo) not because we had a hankering for one but because we were trying to maximize the value of our Unilocal free drink coupons on our smartphones. We then shared my litmus test for Vietnamese restaurants, the $ 6 Fresh Spring Rolls(see photo). They passed — although we wished they had more peanut sauce and less hoisin. Jamie made he smarter choice with his entrée and ordered the $ 9BBQ Short Ribs over Garlic Noodles — which were decent enough(see photo). I was lured by the $ 11 Lava Lamb and decided to pay another $ 2 for Garlic Noodles instead of rice(see photos). So basically I paid an extra $ 4 simply because I would not succumb to the house specials. Mine was OK, too though I never did figure out what lava sauce is except it lacquered my lamb and the vegetables that were mixed in as well. I definitely got more broccoli for my money. The garlic noodles were not the standout I was hoping for. Places like Pagolac and other straight-ahead Vietnamese places show more of a knack in making them. But at least SiamSaigon didn’t come across as an international food court in some suburban shopping mall. A place like this is a welcome addition to the global eats to be found in the Lower Mission even if their execution still needs more tweaking. FOOD — 3 stars… a bit generic in their blend of Thai and Vietnamese… I call it the Jack-in-the-Box syndrome AMBIANCE — 3.5 stars… sleekly minimal SERVICE — 3.5 stars… attentive but not pushy TOTAL — 3 stars… it has possibilities if they can focus on making a couple of killer dishes

This review is based on picking up dinner once and may change with more frequent visits. Given the proximity to my apartment, there will likely be many future opportunities. S loved their Pad Se Ew. I thought the Green Bean Tofu was ok. The veggies were well cooked and fresh but the sauce was lighter and has less flavor than expected. They made vegetarian fresh rolls special for us. Nice! But the rolls were mostly vermicelli. Boo. $ 30 for three dishes was not a deal. Given the choice between Cancun Taqueria and here, I think Cancun will win 90% of the time.

On Mission Street near 29th Street in the space that once occupied Dusit Thai. SiamSaigon is more of a Thai restaurant then Vietnamese one. The Thai ice tea is perfect here, not too sweet & if you check in via Unilocal right now, you get a free one! I had shared the red curry tofu & the Pra Ram with tofu(veggies & peanut sauce). Both were very good, the food was quick & the bill was very reasonable. I will be back to try more things here soon, cant wait to have the garlic noodles.

Loved the red curry, it had pumpkin in in which was new to me but so delicious! I also had the thai tea but it was a little too bitter for me. I love how its so close to my appartment so I’ll definatly be back for some more!

My friend introduced me to this place since he lives in the neighborhood and heard it was opening. Service was beyond excellent and the food was quite tasty! They make a dangerous thai iced tea. I ordered the beef noodle soup. The waiter warned me it was stew-based in case I thought it was phở. I went for it and no regrets! It was delicious. They even gave our group a fried banana and ice cream dessert on the house! A very pleasant experience, I’m sure I’ll be back again.

I was looking for a place to carbo load prior to the San Francisco Half Marathon. We hit these guys up on their opening night 7÷30÷11. The staff was very friendly. The chicken satay was great, the yellow curry was made to our spice request of mild. I had some garlic noodle(a house special) and sole. Although I didn’t expect the sole to be fried it was really good. The garlic noodle was tasty. I ran a personal record on the course today so this place will forever be good in my book.
