I have been going to Annette for over 3 years and I absolutely LOVE her. Not only does she give great advice (which I need as I have no idea what I’m doing), she is also super approachable and knowledgable with her responses. I have always felt happy and beautiful when leaving the salon. Last year, I had her and several of her co-​workers do hair and makeup for my wedding and I was so pleased with the result. My hair and makeup stayed beautiful throughout the entire night! My beautiful ladies were also very happy with their look.

Really cute salon in Nob Hill. It’s easy to find since it seems to be the only obvious business amongst a bunch of apartment buildings lol. I went here for a hair appointment with Jade Mendoza (I wrote a separate detailed Unilocal review for her work). She did a really awesome job with my black/​dark brown hair, putting in blue/​green ombré at the bottom. It turned out even better than I expected with her experienced advice :) Can’t wait to be back!

Jade Mendoza is an artist, I’ve been a client of Jade’s for over a year. She is a consummate professional, she listens to what I want and then let’s me know what is best for my overall appearance and what is best for my hair. She is willing to experiment and I trust her completely. I’m happy every time I leave her salon. She’s a wonderful person besides a very talented hairstylist. It’s rare to find a stylist who cuts and colors so well. I’m moving to Southern California next spring and already trying to figure out how to fly her down every month!

I started going to this salon because I had a Groupon. I kept going because Annette is excellent at cutting and color. I am a red head and my shades of red change all the time. Annette always makes me look professional, but not boring.

I went to Lavish Hair & Make Up Studio at our wedding day September 3^rd and Annette was taken really good care of me. Everything was perfect, both hair and make up — just as I wanted it. She listened, watched some pictures, Annette gave me some ideas and voila — she made me feel like a princess :)

Great salon, Jade is the best! I love the cut and color & I plan on going back to her again. Awesome service as well!

I just get my hair extensions done!!! Annette did a great job as always! She advised me to do an ombré on the ends and it was a great idea! My hair looks amazing. I have been a regular for at least 4 years already and been through all kinds if haircuts as well as colors. And always my hair looks wonderful and healthy which is very important for me! Thanks Annette for being very professional and experienced!!! I’m gonna come for my wedding hair style trial in a little while!!! Recommend for everyone who is looking for an amazing hair salon with great service and people!

The whole team at Lavish is extremely talented and really know how to create a unique look, no cookie cutter, Pantine Pro V updo’s here! I went with a bridal party of 5, and for each girl, they created equally awesome but spectacularly different updos. They even lasted through a windy photo session, formal ceremony and a full night of dancing. I would highly recommend them to anyone!

Holli was amazing! I came in with a living social deal and it was well worth the price. She was attentive and friendly and styled my hair exactly how I wanted it. Totally coming back!

Camilla is great. So warm and friendly, I end up telling her all my secrets. She cuts and colors my hair and I am always happy with the results.

Highly recommend Jade! I’ve come to Jade for over a year now and she’s helped me through my various stages of blonde.
She’s always so diligent with her work. She spends time talking with you and what you want, and then she explains how she’s going to execute it. She never rushes through the process and makes you feel comfortable.

Lavish Salon sits on top of one of the hills. Discreet and away from the foot traffic of San Francisco, this little beauty salon studio is located in a residential area of San Francisco. Step away into an imaginary world. Jade is fantastic.
She fixed my hair from the last lady who messed it up in Lake Tahoe. Ombré highlights that would get lighter and funny girl talk. I had a blast inside the little Salon. I showed Jade 5 pictures of what I wanted, and she did an AMAZING JOB. This is my go to hair stylist in San Francisco.

I cannot say enough amazing things about Annette and her wonderful salon and staff.
I have been to Annette in the past for haircuts here and there, however, recently I started going to Annette for makeup, up-​dos, styling before big night outs and color.
I could not be happier and want to say what an amazing job Annette always does. My color is a vibrant buttery blonde, my cut is great, the makeup and styling is glamorous and I receive so many compliments.
This salon is a gem and Annette has helped me so much with my confidence!
I will continue to see Annette and I wish I started going to her years ago!
I am very picky about hair and style and must say Annette is spot on and can help fix other colorists disasters and get you back on track.

Last week I had to cut off chunks of my hair because they were burnt as a result of coming in on December 6^th to have my hair styled. (see photo)
I was initially not impressed with the fact that I was charged $ 35 for just a style when everywhere else that charges $ 35 included a wash and blow dry, but I could accept that if paying more meant a great job.
Instead, when I told them, «my hair doesn’t hold curl well» it made them think that turning the styling tools up to the highest heat to the point that it sizzled my hair was a good idea.
Now I have had to cut it off and deal with unsightly, uneven chunks in my hair.

Lindsay Davis did my hair (and hair for my bridesmaids and mothers) for my recent wedding. She is AMAZING!
I had met with Lindsay months prior and decided on a hairstyle for my wedding, but of course the day of, I had a change of mind. Lindsay was so flexible. She asked questions about what I was thinking of, and then took my input and ran. My hair looked PERFECT! Even though I didn’t know it, it was exactly what I wanted for my wedding day!
Even better — Lindsay stayed at least 30 minutes after she was done styling everyone (she did hair for 7 people and each style was flawless and personalized to the wearer) to help me with my veil when I was ready. She is so sweet and lovely, and her styling abilities are amazing. Best yet — my hair stayed perfectly all evening — even after dancing the night away!

Went here for a haircut a couple of months ago, and was pretty impressed. I had my hair done by Lorenzo (i believed), and it was just perfect (to my liking). So i came in a little late and they were fine with it. The offered tea or coffee to their customers, and service was just great. First he asked me how i wanted my hair to be, and after thoroughly trimming my hair and bangs. He made sure i am satisfied with the length or style. And if i felt that one part was still too long, he would adjust and trim it to my liking.
What sucks about this place is that its SOOOO HARD to make an appointment. I made my appointment months ago, and one they they emailed me to reschedule because no one was available that day.
I guess thats the price you pay for a good hair cut!

I was in town for a family wedding and needed an up-​do.
Lindsey took great care of me… she listened to what I had to say and was very focused while she worked. So many times, stylists chatter non-​stop with the client or the other stylists and you wonder if anyone is paying attention.
There was no wondering with Lindsey.
She was friendly and professional simultaneously. And I loved my hair.
The salon is small, but very cozy and clean… and that «cozy» I mean in a very good atmosphere way, not in a real estate way!
I highly recommend Lindsey and Lavish for your next event, or even if you just need a new do to perk up your day!

I worked online with Anette to make an appointment for a Brazilian Blowout one day, then hair and makeup the next morning to attend a wedding.
Working with her at a distance was easy, the salon was friendly and even with all four chairs filled I did not feel smooshed. The whole crew was friendly and welcoming, my blowout was lovely but the best part was my hair/​makeup for the wedding. I got it done at 9 a.m. for a 4 p.m. wedding, expecting to spend the day helping the bride… I barely had to touch up my gloss and the hair stayed great all day, I got a ton of compliments!

I went as recommended by a friend to see Annette for the Brazilian Blowout. I have been getting Keratin and thought I would try and see the difference. I will probably go back to keratin as I am not seeing a significant difference and I like the straightening of the Keratin. That is not why I won’t be coming back.
My review is based on my experience at the salon which would be 2 stars.
Lavish is a nice salon in a tight space. They had to leave the door open in a cold day because of the fumes. I was referred to Annette and based on the other reviews I was in for a treat. I found Annette to be friendly and helpful while booking the appointment and was looking forward to coming in.
When I got there, Annette explained that she was overbooked and would start my treatment and her husband would take over. I made my appointment over a week ahead of time and it was an afternoon mid week slot. My question is why bump me? Why not have someone else blow out the color on the other customer. One of reasons I went there was to see Annette. This is an expensive treatment and I didn’t appreciate being passed. I didn’t speak up and regretted it.
After that, I was made a bit uncomfortable on how hard they were selling me on getting other services at the salon. I have a cut and colorist somewhere else and I think asking once is 100% okay. After I said I am happy where I am, that should have ended the conversation. With Annette this came up one other time questioning my choice on how I have my color done, I said thanks, but I am happy with the results.
When her husband took over (sorry can’t remember his name) he was pretty relentless in trying to talk me into getting my hair cut and colored there. Even so much as telling me why my hair cut was so bad and how he would fix it. I definitely needed a haircut when I went in, but his critique was extreme and uncalled for.
I also was under the impression that the golden rule of hair stylists is don’t speak poorly of someone else’s work.

I’m sure this salon is great but they totally ripped people off through a LIVING SOCIAL Deal.
I bought a Living Social Coupon for $ 125. It took me some time to make an appointment with Annette. In the end, she ended up having someone else do my hair anyhow.
I’ve gotten the Brazilian Blowout done before by another Salon in SF and they did a fantastic job. My hair was silky smooth — so I had an idea of what the process is and how my hair should look.
I got to the salon and first of all they didn’t use the BB Shampoo — used some other brand to save on cost probably. Then while applying the solution I felt either they were skimping on the solution or not applying it correctly. At the end of the treatment they told me — «We don’t wash your hair because the treatment will last longer.» I had never heard this before but I took her word for it. Typically at the end of the brazilian blowout treatment — they rewash with the BB shampoo and put the serum in and restraighten or blowdry it out. They didn’t do this.
I washed my hair 3 days later. AND THE FRIZZ WAS BACK!!!
I was SOOOOOO ANGRY. I emailed annette and spoke with her on the phone but she wouldn’t admit they did anything wrong. I spoke with a ton of other salons and all of them said that its possible they’re using a different solution or not doing something right. Even the folks at the Brazilian Blowout headquarters said they got complaints about this salon.
I called Living Social and requested my money back. WHAT A WASTE OF TIME!
