THEYSERVEBEER&WINENOW! Not only do they have great sandwiches and salads they have an amazing staff! I’ve been here a several times and Raina(sp?) a barista/cashier has been so cheerful and inviting it’s a refreshing change from the other coffee shops nearby plus her skills behind the espresso machine should be aspired to! The manager(He’s got a beard but no name yet) has also been very helpful and very kind. He jumped in and assisted his staff when it was extremely busy which is a sign of great management. The place is always immaculate the cleaning crew needs a raise!

Some in my office was mentioning the salads so a coworker and I went to check this place out. The egg salad sandwich is delicious! They add pickled jalapenos, lettuce and radishes. I have also tried the Italian salad and it was good as well but the egg salad was better. The coffee here is delicious. The only downside is that the prices are a bit much so I don’t know how often I will be coming. But thankfully it’s close to my office!

Located on the ground floor of my office building, I can’t help myself from going to La Carpa even though their pricing is a bit steeper than deserved. My usual is the salmon toast and a soy chai latte. While the salmon toast is and a great way to start of the morning, I’m afraid the soy chai latte is a little inconsistent with no chai spice at all. The avocado togarashi toast is also a solid option. Beer, wine and Three Twins ice cream available, but I might be more inclined to bring this review up to a 4-star review if Lemon Cookie ice cream makes it on the menu! *hint hint*

Chatty locals concentrate at La Capra(The goat in Italian, in case you did not know). I confess: that design of the goat and the exterior attracted me to go and try the coffee and croissants, even if promised myself to better drink the splendid coffee my workplace offers for free. I found this very pricey as coffee-shop(so immediately regretted my decision), even more considering that you want the ‘demo croissant’ that look so fresh and inflated in the glass container and then… you pay and see the guy behind the girl in the counter taking your croissant from an insipid cardboard box when tons of other sad croissants await their turn to be eaten. Coffee was very good. I will go back for a real solid breakfast, with no hurries. Since you pay, you better spend some time there!

I like this location of La Capra as it’s relatively near AT&T Park and convenient for walking commuters like myself who need coffee for warmth and caffeine in the morning. Unlike other places, this place has ample seating, a large selection of pastries and food to order, and just a nice open and inviting environment with clear windows that lets the outside light come through the inside. Only downside is the pricing which is not really a surprise because their products are usually very high quality. That Togarashi toast was actually pretty good considering that there’s no heart clogging cheese or meat on it. I’m more inclined to use La Capra as a pregame or post work meeting place for quiet casual convos.

The avocado and togarashi toast is really good! Perfect balance. It’s great for breakfast. I would love to eat it everyday! I’ve also tried the quinoa salad + avocado and it’s tasty as well. It’s a pretty large salad, so if you have a big appetite, this would be the best lunch :) Although it’s pricey, I’m definitely coming back!

I live close by but never got a chance to try it since they are closed on the weekends until this past week when I worked from home in the AM. Very modern and clean, very nice people that work there. Decent menu and would be a great place to do work and people watch. I had the cold brew but wished they had just regular iced coffee. It tasted standard like everyone else. I’m not a fan of the sour taste

New café with large open space with a open kitchen. I like the white marble table top, the space is layout for large or small group. Coffee: on the slightly pricey side, pretty good. Pastries: great selection, some from other bakeries, but some in-house stuff that look really good. Sandwich: Solid, all freshly made, I had a grill Cuban, yummm. Not cheap at $ 12. Overall, since it is tucked away from the street, it is a pretty quite oasis in the busy city.

The only thing this place has going for it is that it looks inviting. After that, everything goes down hill: the food is pricey and not very good and the people who work there seem like they’d really like to be elsewhere. I was excited when this place opened because it is so close to where I work, but after eating breakfast and lunch here a few times, I’m not going back. Whatever you do — do not order the panzanella salad! They refrigerated unripe heirloom tomatoes and threw them into a bread salad. Entirely tasteless, bloody cold, and such a shame as it’s tomato season!

Time: 1:41pm/74°F sunny Purpose: Driving up 3rd St going back to office. At red light my mind wandering aimlessly about next meet up. Then, I remember La Capra new location. Let’s go! Ambiance: Located on the lower level of network provider building, I think Comcast or Dish. This particular location is hard to find if you’re driving, but for me no biggie. Location is just out of sight for those driving. The outside terrance area has seating for like 30+ and flight of stairs leading to LC. The inside has seating along the windows and more inner back. There is a open kitchen so people will get to see most of the food being prepared. Contemporary front counter line with the usual café necessities and supplies of ipad, cake pedestal, snack, pastry, granola cup. Fairly standard base set up with white color being the most prominent. Blackboard with description and prices hung up front for easy reading. Staff: A guy about late 40s greeted me asking if I been there before. I said, I’ve been to the Fremont St location, but they were kinda rude. I went ahead told him, I like this location better because of the vibes. Not snooty. He smile and said great to hear that. I continue on looking at menu. Cleanliness: Grade A, impeccably clean. La Capra locations has always been clean, its no suprise for me. Pots and pans hanging from kitchen rail are spotless. Shelves stock with clean new bag beans. Eats/Drinks: Cappuccino to go $ 3.75 pretty well balanced with good thick foam sticks to cup afterwards. A good indication of good cappuccino. I added some sugar to it for the first time. It was a tad bitter otherwise great. Left my mouth wanting more after. I’m the type that can drink three cappuccino in one setting. I’ve done it before so, I know my limitations. Now, I’m not sure why, but the cappuccino taste better at this location. I think it has to do with less foot traffic and barista takes their time. Main Features: Cubano sandwich and creamed spinach & gruyère. Products/Services: Refer to posted pictures. Catering for groups up to 25+ at least 36hr notice. Find them on Twitter and Instagram. Takes plastic(no minimum). Punch Lines: SOMA, clean, ground level setting, good beans, open kitchen, limited offerings, breakfast/lunch, seasonal items added, banh mi, pleasing flavors, laid back, light bites, zippy service, can’t go wrong, worth the wait, constantly changing, satisfactory, kept its standards. Tradeoffs: This LC has a fully functional kitchen in house. The Fremont st doesn’t. Depending which location you’re going you may or may not have a sandwich after it sells out. Final Thoughts: After today, I may need to reevaluate the other location. I may eventually stay with La Capra on SOMA base on my experience and people running it. This decision has to do with the kitchen as, I rather go to a place that make it on site rather then being delivered. Worst case is when you call, they say we’ve it, then when you get there, its gone. At least with a kitchen on site there a chance they’ll fix you up with one. Taking my chance here.

Solid mashed avocado toast topped with some olive oil and togarashi. Bread was a toasty flattened baguette like thing and you got two slices. Filling enough for breakfast and not missing the meat. They also carry kouign amman here so I’m excited to give that a try next time. Followup: I didn’t try the pastry but I did get the $ 5 for 5 beignets available in the afternoon. They came out fresh piping hot, dusted with powder sugar, and delicious! The inside seemed a bit raw at first but if you let it sit a bit, it’ll finish up the cooking. I recommend sharing this with a friend with some coffee or if you’re feeling bold, get two orders.

Panzanella is, like omg, my new fav salad. The caesar salad dressing was a little fishy. A little pricey here, but there’s never a line, and usually get my food pretty quickly.

So far so good! Pricey but then again we are in SoMa. Strong, quality coffee and the«huevos rancheros» I tried were actually delicious despite not being traditional. You can tell they use quality ingredients here. Takes a bit longer than most coffee shops, although certainly not as long as café du soleil’s, but I’m aware they just opened not too long ago and are still fine tuning their process. Have heard nothing bad about this spot from colleagues and friends who’ve tried it. I will be going again soon.

Good, overpriced food. As I stood waiting 10 min to order behind 1 single customer, I watched one of the staff members stare blankly into space. I almost asked if she«worked» there because she was so clearly not working.

There was a lot of hype in my building for La Capra to open. I’d like to think it was worth it. I’m not a coffee drinker, so I don’t have much to say about the coffee. I’d only go here if I were meeting with a coworker — otherwise I’d choose a different location or just stay in the office. The place itself is gorgeous and is excellent for small meetups. A lot of folks in this building will use this space to eat and chat about work, and it’s bright and friendly. The service is also quite nice. Lunch and drink is extremely overpriced. Hot chocolate is $ 4, but is no better than something you can get at Starbucks. The sandwiches are about $ 12 a pop, and my friend said they were only okay and generally not worth the price. You may as well get a sandwich from Café du Soleil across the street for something tasty and filling. The breakfast is priced all right, though. The avocado toast is marvelous; $ 4.50 for that isn’t too bad. The egg sando is only $ 5.50 and is filling and extremely tasty. The peach tartine is also weirdly delicious; I never had a combination like that before, but I’ll leave it to you to figure if peaches and cheese on toast are worth $ 12. For me, I’ll stick with the reasonably priced breakfast, and make my own hot chocolate later on.

This new café is a gem! Lovely atmosphere(lots of light and nice, clean décor), friendly staff, tasty food(had one of their toasts), and excellent espresso(they make a great Gibraltar). Not too crowded(yet!)…definitely coming back for more!

Overall: Quality spot for smaller 2 – 3 person meetups. Space: 4 stars. The layout offers plenty of spacing for several small groups to gather and work. I would have liked more outlets as I think I saw one or two. There is not a place to work or study for an extended period of time if using a laptop. The majority of tables are also smaller and high so again, not much space. Service: 5 stars Super friendly and happy to answer any questions Food & Beverage. 4 stars. I ordered the Cesar salad. The chicken was delicious. They dressing was a little salty and it slightly overtook the salad. This might be a personal preference as I like less dressing than most. Next time I will order it on the side.

I tried the Cubano sandwich and it was so amazingly tasty. I liked that it took the basics of a traditional Cubano and had a twist from the peppers to the pickles. I will swing by and get it again. Great treat!

This place apparently just opened as I started my new job in this neighborhood. Coffee is delicious and the food is excellent and the people working there are incredibly nice. The space is also clean and beautiful and open. I look forward to trying the whole menu.
