I should’ve ordered the butterscotch latte but I was craving matcha so I ordered that instead. It’s a different type of matcha since its spiced so don’t be surprised if it taste different. Was hoping for a bigger size small. Nice cozy environment. Only 3 small tables so I wouldn’t recommend studying here.

My friend brought me to Hollow since it’s his favorite coffeeshop. The storefront is absolutely adorable. Looks like something from a fairytale… or The Hobbit. Everything about the inside of Hollow, including the seating and décor, is also cute in its rustic way. There’s additional seating in a back room, where trinkets and chocolates are for sale. I had a butterscotch latte which was lighter than expected. I wish I had gotten one of the tasty mochas! I tried the sea salted caramel which was the perfect mini snack. The chocolate cupcakes looked irresistible, but I had to resist this time. Great place to catch up with a friend over a nice cup of coffee or read a book. Not exactly ideal for doing work since there are no outlets or WiFi but I’ve seen people bring in their laptops. It’s a charming coffeeshop in a peaceful neighborhood!

This is a review purely on the coffee. The service was fantastic, very sweet baristas and no wait. I had a cappuccino and it just tasted like warm milk. It literally had barely any coffee taste. Very unusual for a cappuccino. My friend had a macchiato. He agreed with me, same problem, just tasted like warm milk. Lastly, prices were a bit steep for the quality of coffee. I believe I paid $ 4+ for my cappuccino?

My friend told me about this cute little café on Irving street, and I was super excited to try it out after work. I wanted to try the Titanic, but was really sad to see that they did not have it in a small size. I went for the butterscotch latte instead and it was great although I don’t have much to compare it to since it was my first time getting a butterscotch latte. I did enjoy the latte, which is why I am giving this place 4 stars. In terms of atmosphere, I came here to try to get some reading done, but it seems that this place actually has quite a few regulars, so there were constantly people chit-chatting and people were coming and going throughout the hour that I was there. It made it pretty hard to focus on my reading, which was disappointing. The tables are also almost all a little wobbly and are of different heights, making the chair heights kind of uncomfortable sometimes. Overall, it’s a cute café but I probably wouldn’t come here to try to get work done.

Came here while I was wandering around Golden Gate Park. Almost missed it because the storefront is so small! The inside is adorable. Of course, be warned that the coffee here is expensive. We ordered a matcha latte, butterscotch latte, and breakfast empanada. The shop started filling up with people right after we ordered. The matcha latte was a bit too sweet, but the butterscotch latte was fine(it didn’t taste that different from a regular latte). Nice break from the wind and cold outside.

I’ve passed this place so many times and their signature green building always caught my eye. It’s really small inside, but I like that it’s cozy! There’s a few tables in the front and 3 tables in the back that can fit maybe like 6 people at most. I had seen photos of their Titanic II which is their sipping chocolate and house made vanilla bean marshmallow and I was really excited to try it. Then I looked at the menu and saw that that one cup of hot chocolate was $ 8.25…WHAT!!! Even authentic sipping chocolate in Santa cruz with beans that were imported was cheaper than that or the place near Palo Alto that house makes their marshmallows was also cheaper. Even someone ridiculous as me who would normally be willing to dish out a couple extra dollars to try things was not willing to try that. I instantly silently judged everyone I’ve seen who has tried the drink LOL. Welp, oh well. I had asked the cashier if they could make the spiced matcha just a normal matcha(so without the cinnamon and whatever else) and he didn’t hear me so I let it go. I opted for the butterscotch latte because I’m a huge fan of butterscotch flavor anything. Upon receiving it, it was lukewarm at best even though I got it right when he called it out. Being a barista, I don’t understand how you can make a drink the wrong temperature since you have to use the thermometer to steam milk and you’re very aware of when you stop it at 140 – 160 degrees, but whatever. The drink was very, very bland and didn’t seem to have the smallest hint of butterscotch. Tasted like a plain latte that wasn’t very strong. Ehhh. I saw they serve empanada’s that I would be willing to come back and try!

Charming little shop in Sunset. This place is tiny with limited seating in front and back of the shop. Drinks are overpriced(for a tinyyy small cup) and sadly disappointing. Both Vanilla bean latte and butterscotch latte lacked flavor and reminded me of a regular latte. Given the small space and only 2 people working at a time, expect slow service. Bottomline is great ambience but drinks were just ok. Maybe the pastries are better.

Cute, quaint, hipster vibe, this place has got these adjectives locked down. And in true hipster fashion, their coffee is also very expensive. A small is about 1.5 times the size of an express shot. The large is the size of the tall at Starbucks. If you think Starbucks is overpriced, this place has got them beat. Their prices also beat coffee bought in the financial district, where the rent would at least justify higher costs. But I guess in a city where $ 70k is considered low income, it makes sense to support the cause and gauge your customers. Oh I should also comment on how their drinks tasted. Tried the matcha tea latte and French press. Eh, nothing to write home about.

Far out west of SF in sunset… however very small but cute spot. Was a bit disappointed in the matcha latter but the vanilla bean marshmallow was great. Croissants are tiny but super buttery and delicious. Empanadas and cookies were also good too.

This place is okay. Charming environment, good and knowledgable staff, very small place with limited seating. Large Titanic II — $ 8.25 Large butterscotch latte — $ 5.25 Empanada — $ 5.25 Grand total: $ 18.75 For ~$ 20 I got 2 drinks that were finished in less than half an hour and an empanada that was devoured in 5. DRINKREVIEW: The Titanic II was described to be like a dark chocolate mocha with 4 shots of espresso but my friend said it was basically 4 shots with a subtle hint of chocolate. If you weren’t looking for it you wouldn’t even know it was there. For this price, not worth. There was so much potential for greatness in this drink, but just like the Titanic and the big marshmallow, it sank. Butterscotch latte tasted nothing like butterscotch. It tasted like a plain latte with lots of foam. That’s all I’ll say about that. The empanada was the most disappointing part of this experience. It was so small and there wasn’t enough filling. It was basically the size of an iPhone 5. I want to say it was tasty, but it was gone so fast and honestly not memorable at all. The biscuit was flaky though. The only reason I gave a 3 instead of a 2 is because of the service. Sigh. I won’t be back here, sorry.

Most quaint & winsome café I’ve ever encountered. Drinks: I ordered a large spiced matcha green tea latte and my boyfriend had a mocha. The latte was different than anything I’ve ever ordered, it was great, but not the greatest. Definitely needed more matcha, I opted for almond milk, so my latte tasted more like a spicy almond milk drink. It was surprisingly thick, not due to the froth, that was interesting. Overall, the spice adds a kick, but I would have definitely preferred more matcha. My boyfriend’s mocha was also pretty good, but nothing to write home about. Service: The main reason for the four stars, along with ambiance. The baristas were super sweet, friendly and helpful. We aren’t big coffee drinkers(I strictly drink tea), so we’re a bit ignorant when it comes to ordering coffee. They were super helpful and patient with us… and I truly appreciated that, because the café was pretty busy at the time. Great service. Ambiance: From the colorful exterior to the charming interior… this place is straight out of a movie. The décor is truly to be appreciated, from the chalkboard menus to the vintage seating… take a moment to let the smallest details of this charming place truly sink in. Price: I think it’s reasonably priced for the area, seems like a better deal to go with the large vs. the small(in my opinion). Overall: Okay drinks, great service and amazing ambiance! I’d definitely come back and try more of their drinks and also their empanadas!

Hollow is an absolutely adorable hole-in-the-wall coffee shop that I’ve walked past dozens of time, but only recently went into. Being said, their home-made drinks are forgettable. The boy’s matcha latte was powdery and lacked flavor(oddly), and my chai latte was incredibly bland(as well as covered in a thick veil of foam that caused me to scald myself after each sip — that one’s my fault, though). I really don’t see why people love this place so much, other than to take pictures for Instagram.

This is the cutest little coffee shop in all of San Francisco. The shop is painted green with cute lettering in the front, a little planter with flowers, and just cute all over. The inside is small, but also very quaint. I believe that there is seating in the back but I never ventured there. The selection of drinks and pastries is also unique. They have Guinness cupcakes. They are delicious. I love how soft and tasty they are. My favorite drink that I have had from here is the butterscotch latte. It was very creamy and smells great. It really did the trick for me. I’ve also had the Titanic and matcha latte. Those were good, as well. The Titanic is the one with a huge marshmallow in it, in case you were wondering.

Stood in front of the guy waiting for him to be ready to take our order, while he just talks with his buddy about his new piano lessons. Vanilla bean latte and butterscotch latte taste the same. Tastes just like milk. In all of San Francisco and the hipster coffee spots that I’ve been to, this one takes the cake as the most hipster, with the most tight butthole barista I’ve ever had the displeasure of sharing oxygen with. To Mr. scarf, thick-rimmed glasses, 20-min hair gel, I applaud your ability to draw a leaf on a cup of coffee and your private banjo and piano lessons.

A little KINDA hooked on the butterscotch latte here. that’s what keeps me coming back though!!! The baristas here are very friendly, helpful, and patient. It’s a cute little coffee shop, you can’t really miss all the green. It’s a nice place to hangout with friends and catching up as well as getting things done(homework, work, study, online shopping… hehe). Btw!!! go to the back of the coffee shop, it’s super cute and they have things for display from the store next door so guests can look around and buy.

Cute coffee place with woodsy décor walking distance to Golden Gate Park. My friend loved taking photos here because of how nicely decorated it was. The service was very friendly/sociable. There’s a small seating area in the back that sells various cute trinkets. I ordered a small vanilla bean latte($ 4.50). It’s fairly sweet and I loved that there were real vanilla beans inside. I’ve also had the butterscotch latte here and it’s equally good. Worth checking out if you’re in the area!

Hollow is the coolest, cutest, and coziest coffee shop I’ve been to in SF! When you go inside, it’s almost like stepping into a secret room, away from the city. It’s perfect for meeting a friend for coffee and snacks on a cold, drizzly day in SF. It was a freezing, drizzly afternoon in SF when I came to Hollow. After reviewing the menu, I had a hard time ordering because I wanted to try many items. I ordered the butterscotch latte because it was one of their house-made specialties. I was afraid it was going to be too sweet but it wasn’t. It was subtly sweet with just a light taste of sweet and salty butterscotch and espresso. I also tried the matcha green tea latte which I didn’t quite like. To be fair, I don’t like green tea lattes in general(at any coffee shop), so it’s not surprising to me. It had a strong matcha and cardamom flavor. If you like green tea lattes, matcha, and cardamom, you might like this latte. The vanilla bean latte, one of their other house-made specialties, was deliciously strong, but had a very faint vanilla bean flavor. This might be because it was a large(which comes with two espresso shots), where as the other two were small size(which has one shot). I would have liked a little more vanilla bean flavor in the large latte because the extra espresso shot over powers the vanilla bean taste. This was probably the prettiest of all the lattes though. My favorite out of the three is the butterscotch latte(taste-wise). My friend tried their empanada and liked it. All the lattes came with beautiful latte art! Everyone at the tables around me were also taking photos of their coffee. The drinks were a tad bit pricey though. Small butterscotch latte was $ 4.25, large vanilla bean latte was $ 5.25. The size of the coffee is pretty small as well. The staff was pretty friendly. There was only one worker when I ordered so the service was a bit slower as she was doing everything(cashiering, preparing drinks and food), but someone came to help later. There is a small room in the back that provides extra seating and has plenty of cute sundries(cards, sweets, kitchen gadgets, etc.) for sale. The name Hollow reminds me of a hollow tree trunk, which is kind of what the inside of the store is like. It’s a little pricey, but a great place to come for a pretty cup of latte!

Cute little space. May take a while to get your drink. I think there were two people in front of me and it took me a while to get my order in. Titanic was $ 8.25 which is drinking chocolate with a big cube of marshmallow. When you put it into your drink, it looks like an iceberg right? Thus, Titanic II. I thought it was pretty clever. Spanish chicken empanada wasn’t bad. Could’ve used more seasoning. But the outside was crispy which I did like. They also sell pastries.
